Overall we enjoyed our stay and the property is well presented. The location of the property is tucked away but in easy walking distance of local shops, restaurants etc. We also walked to the beach which is about a mile away. The garden is a decent size and enclosed, perfect for children. If you are travelling with an EV, there is a charger at the property but you aren’t allowed to use it. Public charging is limited in Seahouses, there is one rapid charger but I found that it disconnected after just 10 minutes. There were four 11kw untethered chargers but are limited to 4 hours. The family bathroom upstairs was on the small side, closer to an en-suite. We all found the mattresses in the bedrooms weren’t the most comfortable and could do with updating to pocket sprung or similar. The property is managed by a company rather than the owner, they were responsive when needed but I personally prefer dealing with the owner directly.
Perfect family property- watch out for extra deposit that you do not need to pay Positive: Great facilities for children with a IKEA highchair and travel cot. The house was modern and clean. The ground floor bathroom and bedroom was really accessible for one of our guests. The bedrooms are very large with great storage. The utility room was a great bonus with a young child. The garden is large with furniture. Parking in great and next to the door. The location is right in Seahouses and everything is walkable. Highly recommend for families. Negative: The company that looks after this property contacted us after booking for us to pay a deposit fee, which was not explained in the booking information. Our booking information said that all costs were included. We contacted this company explaining that all fees were included in the booking. They agreed and we did not need to pay any deposit. Watch out for this email as you do not need to pay it. This needs to be looked into by whoever owns this property.
spent 4 nights at the beautiful sunflower cottage. Perfect location. Many amenities in walking distance. Highly reccomend Trotters (local bakery) they make the best breakfast baps! The cottage itself actually was a lot bigger than I expected. With 5 adults and a toddler it didn't feel crowded at all. Big bedrooms with plenty of storage for suitcases etc. Noted travel cot and highchair also available. Outdoor space was HUGE! My toddler throughly enjoyed running up and down for hours! All in all the cottage was the perfect home for a long weekend break away from the madness that is real life! Dale was very responsive and the check-in was very straight forward. would definitely stay here again.
A nice modern end terrace cottage in a nice seaside town - excellent location - good condition. Positive: The property is very modern and felt new. It was very clean. The furnishings and equipment are still in very good condition. Everything worked. The location is excellent with the center of Seahouses within walking distance. The parking is good with (it appeared) 2 spaces per cottage. Wifi was good and easy to setup. The skylight and the glass paneled banister on the stair case meant the entrance hall is full of light. Large utility/laundry area we didn't use but would be great if you wanted to dry clothes from outdoor activities. Negative: The quantities of consumables was low for the money we paid. i.e. 2 dish washing tablets for 4 nights and a family of 5. One roll of toilet paper per bathroom... We had gardeners try to enter the house which frightened my daughter - they then went round the back and mowed the lawn - there was no warning of this. While the furnishings were relatively new and in good condition they felt quite cheap - which is ok but seems less well aligned with the price. It took us a few days to find the isolation switch for the ground floor shower room fan - not sure why that kind of switch should be off when we arrive. Strange niggle but light switch for kitchen is across the room (near the laundry room) from where you enter it (near the living room) - which is strange. Personally I didn't find the mattress that supportive. There is a huge walk in wardrobe upstairs - perhaps that could be an ensuite - which people paying that kind of money would be used to at home?
Sunflower cottage was a fantastic place to explore Seahouses and the Northumberland coast. The cottage is beautifully laid out throughout and we felt very comfortable in the cottage from the moment we arrived. All the beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well. The kitchen was well-appointed with everything we needed to cook an evening meal. The cottage was within easy walking distance if the beach and the sea front, only 5 mins. The cottage is a little difficult to find initially just make sure you look for a little private driveway in between 2 houses when turning in to the row if 3 cottages. We had a lovely evening meal at Insieme Italian only a 3 minute walk away. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. We will hopefully return to the cottage in the future and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Thanks Paul, Rachel, Martha and Maureen(Nanna)
Clean central modern property however needs a refresh of mattresses Positive: Very modern clean spacious and everything you needed for a lovely stay … very central to town centre and amenities…. Bedrooms were very roomy plenty bedding and pillows…. kitchen is well stocked with utensils Negative: The mattresses on all the beds really need looked at … a good nights sleep goes a long way to a happy stay The dishwasher wasn’t working which was a biggy bug bear for us as a family as none of us likes to wash dishes as we like to cook and eat in I also find the waiver should be included into the initial cost not sent out 10 days b4 you are due to go on holiday it really upset me that we paid a £25 waiver to cover breakages and the main things we needed weren’t working !!!!
We stayed at Sunflower Cottage for a 5 day break with my wife, two kids and our dog. A great location with minutes walk to Seahouses harbour. A very modern, well equipped and extremely clean cottage. The secure, fenced garden was great to allow our kids and dog to play safely. Loved exploring the local area with lots of scenic walks and drives. Our dog particularly loved our regular daily walks along the coastal path through Seahouses golf course which has public right of way access. Would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing, homely base for a visit to Northumberland. Only minor criticism was that the dishwasher was not working and we weren't informed until we reported it. Also a local neighbour decided to burn waste in their back garden which faced onto the cottage meaning we couldn't use the garden & the cottage smelled of smoke. Hopefully this will be reported by Host & Stay to the local authority to avoid any future inconvenience to future guests.
Relaxing weekend with friends, great location and lovely property Positive: Location was great, clean and comfortable, lovely garden Negative: Only thing we felt was missing was full length mirror and a dressing table in all bedrooms
This property is almost new, so everything is still in very good condition and has everything that you are likely to need. There is plenty of space for a family / group visiting, both inside and outside, where the property has its own grassed and private back garden. The location is great, being close to the harbour (for boat trips to the Farne Islands) and to restaurants, pubs and shops. Access to the surrounding area from Seahouses (Alnwick, Berwick, the Cheviots, Bamburgh, Craster etc.) is easy.
Good communication and a very convenient location. Plenty of room for our group of 5.
Great base for exploring Seahouses and beyond. Lots of nice beaches and country pubs. We liked the fact there are 3 big bedrooms as we were friends meeting up. The layout was great and the house lovely and clean & warm. I liked the key in the box check in although only got the code on the day of travel rather than the night before. You will be given an online link to their website brochure when you book which details everything, including instructions for checkout which I didn't realise until later (such as turning the heating down before we left). The house is an end terrace with parking for 2 cars. Very quiet and slept like a log.
enjoyable Positive: location was brilliant. clean and nicely decorated good parking Negative: The dishwasher wasn’t working and nobody came to sort it out. we were a group of 5 so lots of washing up! the loo seat in the upstairs bathroom was insecure and moved every time you sat on it! the road was hard to find it needed a sign at the end. lack of mirrors upstairs and the mirror in the downstairs bedroom was too low if you were standing and too high if you were sitting. the downstairs shower ran too hot then cold and was impossible to keep stable.
Positive: Lovely and clean, very homely. Had everything we needed for our self-catering holiday. The highchair was very useful. Short walk into town. Large garden.
The property has potential to be a great holiday home but let down by the poor communication from the management company and cleanliness I specifically asked prior to going if bedding was provided for the cot and was told it definitely would be so when we arrived and there was none it caused a big issue (my 6 month old baby either had to sleep in bed with me or on a plastic mattress) both of which are very unsafe. Called and messaged the company who sent a message back at 1am advising a fitted sheet would be dropped off the next day. 2 young ladies turned up with full size bedding having no idea they were meant to be bringing cot bedding or that there was a problem and told us they couldn’t provide one due to their own safety regulations so had to go buy our own The house didn’t seemed to have been cleaned recently either and had holes and stains on bedding. Sent complaint and photos to company and still awaiting a response. Wouldn’t reccomend
Positive: We've stayed here about 5 times for long weekends, friday/Monday and paid just over £600, which is very reasonable. It's always been clean comfortable and good value for money. I understand that the price would be more for the xmas period but it was double at £1200 so we expected it to be fully decorated. While there were some effort made with some decor and a very small xmas tree (which we decorated ourselves because the decorations had been left on the table!) we also added some lights. So for the price to be double was a bit excessive Negative: The price was double what we normally paid because of the xmas period but not much effort was put into decorating it for xmas!
Perfect for the weekend as we attended my son’s wedding.
Perfect accommodation for 4 man golf trip.
Great place to stay 👌 Positive: Great value for money, accommodation was very comfortable and the whole house was very clean, have no complaints and will definitely stay here again, only issue we observed were the dirty/stained patio door blinds which could of happened recently and was a very minor issue for us, once they are replaced will be a perfect place to stay for everyone who visits.
Our stay was to celebrate my husband’s 60th with our 2 adult children and their partners. Everything was good except that some of the glasses, crockery and cutlery were quite greasy and had to be washed up before use. Also, the dishwasher did not work at all and we had a series of error messages so we’re unable to use it. The worst thing though was that after the 1st night, there was no hot water. We had to boil kettles of water to be able to wash up and we all had to use the downstairs shower to be able to get hot water which was time consuming. We reported this to the contact number but the operative was very unhelpful so the call was ended with no constructive help at all. The property itself was really lovely. It is nicely situated and we love the area. I left something behind in the wardrobe which I reported to the contact number and via email and I’m delighted to say that the response to this was very good and I have received the item in the post today. Thank you for this
Sunflower cottage was located very handily for walking into the centre of Seahouses with its various convenience stores, eateries and gift shops. The house was light and airy, well equipped and very clean. My only negative comment would be that there was no documentation for the coffee machine (how to operate and what coffee to load it with). Other than this we found everything we would expect in the well equipped kitchen.
Positive: Bright, roomy house in a great location Negative: N/A
What a fabulous Airbnb! Really lovely new build up a quiet drive. Very well thought out property with a super outdoor space as well. Easy walk into Seahouses and the harbour. Definitely would recommend
Positive: Beautiful house and really high end finish, great location too Negative: The wording on booking.com needs be to removed about the host sorting the payment, ot got all confused, when in reality you book it and it charges as normal.
We had a great few days staying at the sunflower cottage. It was the perfect base to explore the surrounding area of Seahouses and lovely to come back to after days out. The cottage was just as described with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. It was clean and well presented and the hosts made everything very easy and got back to queries very quickly.
Wonderful property in an ideal location for Seahouses and surrounding area.
Excellent short stay - we will definitely return. Positive: Great location - 5 minutes walk into town but quiet on an evening. Excellent facilities, enclosed garden and decorated beautifully. Spotlessly clean. Negative: Nothing
Perfect location for a wonderful family seaside break Positive: Location Negative: Garden is overlooked
Very enjoyable I would go again Positive: All Negative: Not enough tea towels and cleaning clothes
All good found out how to work appliances but and info book would help. Welcome pack would be appreciated
Positive: Location. size of accomodation. comfy beds. Negative: oven/ dishwasher wasnt clean. marks on walls. sofa well used. Wouldn't say value for money.
As described
Positive: The house had everything we needed and great for parking. We were close to the centre but the house was set back from the main road so it was very quiet
Enjoyable but small additions would have made it ideal. Positive: Clean and spacious. Negative: Lack of potato peeler. No pint glasses and lack of instructions for equipment. Lack of local information on tourist attractions and lack of welcome pack. Advice on disc parking would have been very helpful.
We had a lovely stay at Sunflower Cottage. Everything worked perfectly and communications with Charlie were excellent. Definitely recommend both the cottage and a trip out to see the wonderful Puffins on the Farne Islands.
Positive: High quality fixtures and fittings, spacious free parking, fab central location in Seahouses Negative: House was very warm on arrival and we couldn't seem to reduce the temperature using the many controls around the house - some better instructions on this would be helpful
A really great place to stay when exploring Northumberland. The cottage is a 5 minute walk from the harbour and the centre of Seahouses with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.Communication with the host was excellent and they provided their own app with all the relevant details about the property and information on local attractions which was great. The cottage itself was clean, spacious and comfortable with lots of crockery, cutlery, pans and kitchen utensils. Would highly recommend.
Great property in a great location Positive: The property was clean spacious well equipped & in an excellent location. Negative: Nothing
Lovely stay. good sized cottage with a fantastic back garden. Host was excellent. No complaints at all.
Our family of 5 enjoyed a weeks stay at Sunflower Cottage and would highly recommend. The location was absolutely perfect and walkable to Seahouses shops, pubs and beach. The cottage was clean, modern, spacious and had everything we needed to cook and make everyone comfortable. Thanks for having us!
Lovely home with everything you could need. Really comfy beds and perfect for our long weekend break
Great place to stay. Walking distance to the seafront and amenities.
Positive: Everything was fabulous. Negative: Couldn't turn the heating up!
We throughly enjoyed it
We enjoyed our stay at Sunflower Cottage. It’s a good location only a few minutes from the town centre and the sea. Good parking arrangements which is a big plus.
Excellent property exactly as described. The hosts were really quick to respond when we had any queries. Really close to the harbour and 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach.Only small issue was the heat in the upstairs bedrooms but that couldn't be helped due to warm weather. We should have taken fans knowing the forecasted heatwave during our stay.
It's a very modern and smartly furnished property, large garden and good sized kitchen. It was clean, with the location and parking situation very convenient. Only few small snags was the BBQ was rusted through and no longer properly useable, as well as having to top up toilet paper, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, rinse aid and hand soap in the kitchen. Generally, the Air BnBs we have stayed at do stock these. However, we had a great holiday and would stay again.
Positive: La casa es comoda, confortable i molt ben equipada. Ens vàrem sentir com a casa
A lovely house in a nice town Positive: The location was excellent, a very short walk from all the shops and cafes. The apartment was very nicely furnished with almost everything we needed. Negative: I found the format of the communication from Host & Stay to be quite confusing and repetitive. We could have done with a grill pan in the kitchen. And a separate indoor bin for recycling (and information what items could be included) would have been useful too.
Host and stay was extremely helpful and kept us up to date with check in/check out etc. They were also very quick to respond to any queries we had. The property was fantastic and in a great location. Would highly recommend!
Lovely property in a great location. Positive: A lovely clean, modern and fresh property.Lots of hot water and good showers.Well furnished bedrooms with comfortable beds and plenty of storage. It has a good size garden too, with outside furniture. Excellent location,3 minutes walk into Seahouses which has good cafes and restaurants. Negative: The living room needed more table lamps. It would be nice to have a bbq.
Positive: Lovely warm cosy house. Modern, clean and great location for Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell. Negative: Downstairs bed wasn't as comfy as the upstairs rooms and the electric shower was quite temperamental but we just used the upstairs shower so it wasn't a big problem.
Great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. Positive: Well furnished cottage in a great location. Walking distance to centre of town. Parking for 2 cars Negative: Very soft mattresses. We personally prefer firm mattress.
Lovely few days in beautiful location with great accomodation. Positive: Very clean, warm and comfortable. Everything we needed for our short stay.
Beautiful, modern house in a perfect location, 1 minute walk from the main street. Would definitely stay again, thank you!
Great place. Positive: Great convenient location, really clean and tidy. Well equipped. Everything worked as hoped and as it should. Location was fab for local facilities and for Northumberland generally. Negative: Overdose of communications from booking.com and Host and stay throughout the booking process in the run up to the trip. (Eg payments and confirmations). Everything seemed to be doubled up which took up more of my time than I liked and was a bit confusing.
Great property Positive: Clean, comfortable spacious and well equipped the downstairs bedroom and bathroom were a great addition and it was near the centre of seahouses. Second time staying here and have booked again for November Negative: No cleaning products, I.e. multi-purpose cleaner. you ask us to leave the property clean, but nothing to clean it with 🤔
Fabulous weekend in beautiful accommodation Positive: Beautiful property with everything needed for a comfortable stay Negative: Everything was great
Great place to stay, short walk from town and harbour and a great base for exploring an amazing area.
Positive: Very well appointed. Great location for walking into the village. Handy to drive to other locations in Northumberland. Negative: There was nothing to dislike
Spacious, tidy and modern Positive: The place is beautiful, up to date and well equipped. Any queries we had they answered quickly. Loved the little touches in the bathrooms such as the shower gel, soap and shampoo. It was clean house and tidy place. Some more attention to detail on cutlery, cups etc (the dishwasher doesn't always clean everything fully) The hidden wardrobes were a fantastic use of space. A few more hangers would have benefit. Loved the little table next to the double chair, would love to know where you got it? Extra blankets were a fabulous touch for the colder months. The heating was a little complicated would love to have been able to control it a little more as it was fairly cool one evening. (Positive though as it was modern and different) Coffee, sugar and tea sachets were lovely little welcome after a long day of travel. Although we did bring our own just in case. Apart from a few bits mentioned was a lovely stay and would love to return. Negative: The surprise £25 for Insurance! Please add this to your information before people book. Normally you would pay a small amount to cover damages etc. But no in this case you either paid I think was £150 to be returned if no damages occurred. Or £25 nonrefundable! So not only we paid quite a lot of money for a 3 night stay but we had to pay more on top. I think it was unnecessary and unexpected. 1 tea towel provided which wasn't very good if we had known we would have brought our own, washing up liquid wasn't very good either (i know there was a dish washer but they dont clean very well), which may explain why the cutlery wasn't very clean (we washed them again). The bedroom TVs are quite small for the rooms perhaps a little larger perhaps?
Beautiful property in great location. Positive: Spacious, well appointed and decorated, well equipped. Moments walk from the Main Street and the Co-op. Negative: Dishwasher not working (dishwasher tablet left for use - not sure why). Otherwise was great!
Lovely house in a quiet lane near all amenities.
Fabulous cottage, in an ideal location for exploring Seahouses and the surrounding area. Positive: We had a great stay at Sunflower cotage. It’s beautiful - the photos don’t do it justice! It’s spacious and modern and the location is perfect (only a few mins walk into the centre of Seahouses). Negative: We had some trouble figuring out the air source heating controls (some more detailed instructions would have been useful). And we were disappointed the RV car charger didn’t work as it was a feature listed in the accomodation details at the time of booking.
Property is well situated and clean but lacks attention and support to basic details, disappointing! Positive: keys were in the key safe as arranged. The spare key (inside the property) didnt fit the door lock, so we only had one key. Negative: On the first morning, we didnt have any hot water, after 40 minutes trying to get this going we rang a number through Booking.com, this was sorted out within hours, despite this I received 3 emails from Host and Stay saying this would be dealt with (after being sorted), the last email was on the evening before we left, very poor communications at Host and Stay.. The dishwasher didnt work, after 2 hours in total trying to get it to work, we let Host and Stay know and were told someone would come, would we leave a key in the keysafe, we did. No one came in the 5 days we were staying. Reading the reviews the dishwasher didnt work in May, July or September, this is October and it didnt work. The property lacked basic things, tea pot, milk jug, a toast rack, there was only one hand towel upstairs for 4 people, bare minimum toilet rolls, etc etc with a little more thought basics could be improved. We are still looking for the hairdryer - is there one? We were also surprised to be asked for a "waiver" fee before being given the key safe code to enter the property, this was after we had paid in full and within days of our arrival, this was unacceptable and would have been better included into the rental charge at the outset then we would have known the total cost.
Fantastic Positive: 2nd time staying here great location, parking out front of property, spacious rooms, modern and comfortable furnishings and very clean Negative: A little bit pricey compared to others similar but still ok and wouldn’t put us off booking again
Hidden 10 pound "Admin Charge" for Damage Waiver - Dishonest Management Negative: The property management company, Host & Stay, is deeply dishonest with their practice. At the time of writing, under the "important info" section in the accommodation, the "damage waiver" is described as "fully refundable". It's only in the rarely-read long description of the property that a obscure mention of "subject to an administration charge" which is in contradiction to a much more prominent "fully refundable" mention in "important info". This is an absolutely reportable act of mislead, and despite my complaint to them over chat, one week later this misleading statement remains unchanged, and they refused to refund us the 10 pound "admin fee". This damage waiver is also not a standard practice in most places that we travelled to. While we were travelling we neglected to submit the damage waiver payment and only realised that we had to pay it near the end. By the time we paid it, it was 4pm local time. We never got the key safe information even when we arrived. We arrived at the property around 5.30pm, and the key safe information never came through. We did not have any working phone (only had internet data) and the only contact was an after-hours generic contact centre. I had to borrow a phone from a local grocery store's worker, was left "on hold" for a good five minutes; fortunately it was eventually answered and I was given the key safe over the phone. I am deeply unhappy that this "damage waiver" was a ransom to accessing the accommodation that we had already paid non-refundable fee for; and when we neglected to pay it during our busy travel, we almost had to fear for being locked out in gloomy cold country UK. Absolutely horrifying and deeply disappointing practice. The rest of the house was ok but we were left with very, very sour note on the last leg of our travel.
Positive: Quiet location and very close to shops restaurants and Seahouses town and harbour. All within easy walking distance. Property was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Large grassed rear garden. Negative: Nothing of note.
Positive: It was a beautiful house. Very tastefully decorated. The location was great, very near the shops and not far from the harbour Negative: The double bed upstairs was not very comfortable, it could do with a mattress topper. The shower upstairs produced very lukewarm water. We only had one hot shower at the beginning of the week and after that the water never seemed hot
Well appointed house in a quiet side street, would be happy to recommend Positive: Very spacious, exceptionally clean. Lovely house for a short break Negative: We had no complaints
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sun Flower Cottage and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and excellent hospitality. The house itself is beautifully maintained, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The attention to detail in the decor made it feel cozy and inviting. The location is perfect—secluded enough to offer peace and tranquility, yet close enough to local attractions and amenities. We especially enjoyed having the use of the lovely large garden for our fairy friends The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals, and the living spaces were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The hosts were responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, Sun Flower Cottage exceeded our expect. We will definitely be returning!!
Very nice Positive: High standard Could have been a bit cleaner especially the kitchen but overall excellent Negative: No sea or any other view No instructions booklet to use coffee machine
Host & Stay customer service dreadful. Negative: Smell from kitchen. Located to dishwasher which wasn’t working. Phoned Host & Stay 8 times who promised it would be sorted either that afternoon or n morning. Still not fixed when we left.
A Very nice property Positive: Lovely and spacious, bright and modern accommodation Negative: Dishwasher not working which we were informed about. But no washing up liquid left only Dishwasher tablets. Had to buy toilet tissue as no spares in property.
Warm and comfortable home from home Positive: Light, spacious and modern. Equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Negative: Nothing at all.
Modern holiday let with parking ideal for shops and restaurants
Enjoyed but cleaning disappointing Positive: Spacious and good location Negative: Poor cleaning (iv took pictures)
Positive: Location was excellent good parking. Really nice place and a good price would highly recommend. Negative: Nothing to dislike
Great find. Positive: Great cottage with all the facilities you need and lots of extra things included for beach days. Large garden and bbq. Excellent location and two car park spaces. Negative: Mattresses could be bettter as not the most comfortable but lots of extra bedding provided. Took a couple of days to get heatong sorted but lots of blankets and extra heaters provided.
Positive: Lovely comfortable cottage, everything you need on a trip away, also very central. Negative: Unfortunately the dish washer wasn't working. It would be helpful to have recommendations of nearby restaurants and places to visit. Instead of having it sent on line by Host and Stsy.
Very new and spacious Positive: The accommodation was very spacious. Everything was clean and tidy. The technical equipment worked perfectly. Everything was relatively new and tastefully furnished.
Positive: Good size accommodation is well equipped . Negative: The bed in the downstairs bedroom was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in the mattress was so thin, and you could feel the springs it didn't feel like a double bed , seemed smaller. I am not the first person to comment on the mattress . First accommodation we have stayed in with no welcome pack, no milk, bread , biscuits .
Beautiful cottage shame about the beds Positive: Very clean and well presented. Tastefully furnished. Well stocked crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Great location and parking. Negative: The mattresses on the beds aren’t comfortable and when we go away we like a comfy bed. Had to put a spare duvet under sheet to pad out due to springs being felt. This would put us off booking the cottage again unfortunately. Also the downstairs bedroom needs blackout blinds or curtains.
