The church is a wonderful place for a family gathering. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and the long dining table was perfect for long meals and catching up time. The building was very cold when we arrived and took a few hours to warm up. Once it was warmer, and with the help of the sizeable woodburner, we had cosy afternoons and evenings on the sofas.
The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were warm and attractively decorated.
The area is stunning. Despite its isolated position, we made use of the Newcastle bus which leaves almost right outside the house. Everyone was friendly - the neighbour whose entrance path we shared, Sue who sold us the logs, and the staff at the cafe.
We visited Kielder Water, Hadrian's Wall and Newcastle (to see our daughter who is studying there). We'd certainly recommend this for a relaxing break.
Stunning converted chapel, the space offered by the open plan living and kitchen area is perfect for staying with family or friends, and the bedrooms and reading nook are lovely and cosy. The house is beautifully decorated, even though the space is large it felt really homely. We’d love to stay again, thank you.
Very spacious place, parking is a bit traumatic with having to park around the back and no direct path between house and parking place. Travelled with my aunt and mother for quiet break. One of the upstairs wardrobe door fell off when my mum opened the door, missing screws. It hit my mum in the head, nothing major just poorly maintained or not checked since last group. I’ve taken a pictures of needed. Neighbour was having roof fixed when we were there so ladders and scaffolding where navigated on Friday.
An absolutely fabulous home! Huge open space perfect for our family of 7 and an impressive, well equipped kitchen. After a 6 hour drive it was no problem getting a roast cooking!
Fabulously simple yet stunning home in a renovated church. We loved the upstairs gallery for a quiet reading nook. The beds were comfortable with lovely plump pillows. Bathrooms were fabulous and clean with towels provided.
Great wood burning stove with logs provided.
It's a rural location so would advise to go stocked with supplies for your stay, especially your first evening. There is a local shop 10 minutes away and about 30 minute drive to bigger supermarkets and fuel. We never visited the local cafe or restaurant but they aren't far to drive and walk to.
Fabulous, tranquil and peaceful with plenty of space inside for a big group that allows you to all have your own spot to go off to.
Had a lovely stay this weekend with my family. Definitely one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever stayed in and equipped with everything we needed! Would absolutely stay again.
We loved Birdhopecraig Church! Perfect for our family. We would have liked an outside space that we could let the dog out into and maybe blackout blinds as it’s the summer and the sun rises early. Overall it worked really well for us and we would love to come back.
Beautiful location, beautiful home, spacious with lots of socialising areas. We all loved it especially the kids. Everything you could possibly need and a brilliant cafe within walking distance if you dont fancy cooking! We'll definitely be back !
Would highly recommend this place as a fun place to stay with family and dogs!
This a beautiful home to stay in. It’s a great space to spend time in with a family as there is loads of space, but still has little quiet area to get away from everyone.
Was lovely to be able to have our dogs stay with us, but only drawback is that there is no garden area to let them out in.
It is a rural location but is on a main road.
Tricky to find. Look out for the 30mph sign and lamp post!
Fantastic stay
Positive: The building and our stay were exceptional, really beautiful and clean. However, the land at the entrance of the building is shared with a neighbour who wasn't friendly and was aggressive to us and our pets. It's a shame the neighbour was like this but other than that, our stay was fantastic.
Fantastic character property which is spacious, well provisioned and looks every bit as good as the photos.
We did several walks in the area during our 2 night stay. hindhop linn and blakehopeburnhaugh were highlights for us. Its also possible to do some walking right from the doorstep. We enjoyed the meal we had at the Redesdale arms - their home-cooked food was delicious.
Great airbnb - would recommend!
We had the best stay, a great location for really exploring beautiful Northumberland and the borders. The beds and linen were lovely and we slept so well every night. We were awarded with clear skies and got out of bed at 2.30am to the most wonderful starts on the doorstep in our PJ’s. We cooked each evening and the amenities in the kitchen were great as well as watching the tups in the field outside the window grazing and tupping one another. A soak in the Victorian bath was so good after a good day walking. Really lovely stay!
Positive: The property was absolutely beautiful, and well stocked with crockery and cutlery. The hosts had decorated the property for Christmas and also provided us with Tea, Coffee and Milk, which was a greatly appreciated extra touch
The hosts are amazing and checked in with us during our stay 10/10. Will definitely be back soon.
I'd thoroughly recommend a group stay here. We had a lovely weekend. The property is comfortable and really spacious with a well equipped kitchen so cooking was easy. Pictures are really accurate and location is fab...really close to some excellent walks and set in gorgeous countryside.
Absolutely stunning place, with beautiful surroundings the perfect location for us. The hosts were brilliant at communicating with us very prompt. We would love to return one day soon.
Lovely quirky place.Great location if a bit isolated from local amenities. Well equipped and comfortable. Great place to chill and relax. Just make sure you bring essentials as the nearest shop is a fair drive away to n an urgent situation. Comfortable beds, lovely showers and great communal areas. If you come in the Autumn or Winter make sure to buy or bring extra fire wood as it’s a huge area to heat.
Whilst we really enjoyed our break and the church was gorgeous and in beautiful surroundings we did find that it was not cleaned to a high standard.
Fantastic property, but on a busy main road. There is a garden at the rear but so overgrown we couldnt get into it and the front garden belongs to the neighbour.
Some of the kitchen appliances have seen better days but there was eveything we needed. There was a power cut while we were there but the neighbour was lovely and lent us her camping stove.
The property was lovely and spacious. It was well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. The beds were very comfortable. The property is well situated for activities in the surrounding area. All in all we had a lovely stay.
The only problem we had was there were no functioning opening windows so it was lacking fresh air in the property. There are ceiling fans but if the weather was any hotter we would have struggled with the temperature in the property. Just something to be mindful of when booking in the warmer weather.
power outage caused issues.
nearby cafe but nothing else.
fridge way too small for the amount of people staying.
very overlooked by a vocal neighbour, she does not like an Airbnb next door and made that very clear.
property well appointed and as per pictures, the issues above but the property was nice.
We loved the property and area
Beautiful and very quirky accommodation.
Fantastic location.
Great church.everything inside was clean
Location on the map needs updating as it takes you to next door and he clearly has had a few people there asking where it was as he was rude.
The property is really beautiful and looks just like the photos. It has everything you could need for a comfortable stay from pots and pans, easy access to the internet and plenty of options to chose from on tv when you just want to relax. The host was helpful and very quick to respond. The only thing that could have improved our stay was the check in/out times as it’s quite a late check in time coupled with an early check out - however we knew this before booking and it wouldn’t stop us from booking again. Thank you for a lovely stay.
very pleased only fault was difficult to find , we also phoned at 4pm for further directions , no one replied until 9pm approximately , fortunately we had found the property by that time !
