Leave Grandma and young Johnny at home.... Positive: Location was good very central Very comfy beds. Negative: No key code for the front door! I didn't realise this until we were about to leave. Emails and calls to the contact number were ignored. I now know this home is managed by Host & Stay. Eventually Booking. Com helped us with the entry code and we were able to start our journey but the unnecessary delay meant we arrived at 10.30pm with a very tired young child. The bathroom needs remodelling. The shower enclosure is too small so the floor (and the human) get soaked when the door is opened as there's no space to avoid the spray! House for 6 people yet only one loo roll. Even the air freshening spray was empty. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are on a floor with no bathroom. My child had several near falls on the smooth, wooden, open plan staircase. This is a Health & Safety issue and an accident waiting to happen! This property is not for young chn or elderly. The only heat source in the lounge is a radiator completely blocked by a sofa so the evenings in February were chilly. . The kitchen was warm due to the Aga but there's no seating. Why does a kitchen need 87 glasses? My son counted them 😁 Accidentally left some medication behind. Email marked as Urgent but still haven't had a reply 3 days later...i hope the owner reads these reviews.

Positive: Location was amazing im disabled and was awkward with the only toilet being upstairs could have done with 2 toilets its wasnt cleaned the best lots of dust cob webbs bits between settee seats i hovered them myself and wiped the dust off i thought the garden would have been better it wasnt needs a tidy up thought it was quiet pricey for 3 nights. Negative: Wasnt cleaned the best the toilet upstairs and only one and garden wasnt anygood for the grandchildren and the dog.

I took my family of 5 adults there was space for us all in a great location

Stayed a couple of nights at this place with my family and a dog. Was exactly like the photos and description. It’s well located and just tucked away enough so you don’t hear any noise from the town. Parking is limited on a first come first served basis so because we had multiple cars one of us had to use the nearby pay and display car park over night but it’s not expensive and only a couple mins walk. Good sized house for a family wanting to stay in Pickering!

Beckside has provided us with a lovely Easter break this year. The location in the centre of Pickering is excellent. We used it as a base to explore Pickering, Scarborough, Whitby and Rievaulx Abbey during our 4 night stay, including a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The house is full of character and the host has made the most of the space available with some creative ideas throughout. The rooms were clean and spacious and had everything you could want or need. The bathroom is enormous! (Note: The super king size beds are just two singles pushed together, so there is that join down the middle.) The kitchen looks great with the Aga as the centre of attention, but to we did find it a challenge to cook with as we’re used to a conventional oven. Parking really is a free-for-all to get a space! These are minor gripes though. This is a wonderful accommodation in a beautiful part of the country. We got lucky with the weather and loved our stay here. Highly recommended.

Positive: Lovely property, extremely well equipped. Very clean except minor dust and wet spots in the upstairs bedroom. The location was fantastic, would definitely visit again Negative: Apart from the dusty bedside tables, uncomfortable sofa and lack of terrestrial TV downstairs everything was fantastic. But for these minor details I would've given this place the highest score

Bien ubicado pero incómodo Positive: La ubicación es inmejorable, la limpieza es buena. Te hace sentir como si vivieras en Pickering Negative: Los colchones, los armarios llenos de elementos de limpieza y electrodomésticos (sin espacio para ropa), falta de enchufe en el baño y una ducha muy pequeña para lo espacioso que es el baño. Los sofás son incómodos. La propiedad envía muchos mensajes advirtiendo de lo que hay que pagar si dejas la casa 10 minutos tarde, de si rompes algo etc etc

Excellent location and ideal to walk to shop, pubs and local attractions. This property is ideal for four adults. Any more and there would be no room in lounge. It was clean and well equipped kitchen. There is a Aga in the kitchen which is constantly on and we were told not to turn it down or fiddle with the settings. The kitchen was too hot and we left the external kitchen door open and occasionally the front door to cool down the downstairs. Also, cooking on Aga was slow, but there are gas rings that are much better for cooking. In winter it will be very cozy but on a warm September weekend it was too hot. The shower crucible is very small.

Positive: The house was very cosy and in a brilliant location right in centre of town easy access to local pubs and restaurants and you have a great choice of food places to go to

Beautiful location. Kitchen was very well equipped. Whole house definitely needed a good dust. Lots of cobwebs and I could see where things had been dusted around on the shelves. Took a chopping board out of a kitchen cupboard that was covered in animal hair. Washing machine didn’t work - drum did not move at all. We found the house very warm and would not rent a house with an AGA in summer again. The AGA needs to be on the whole time, but then makes the space very warm. Overall a lovely well equipped house in a great location but definitely needs thoroughly cleaning.

Positive: Das Haus ist wirklich sehr schön, v.a. der alte AGA in der Küche hat einen besonderen Reiz. Er war bereits voreingestellt, sodass wir ihn direkt nutzen konnten. Das Haus liegt direkt im Zentrum von Pickering und man kann problemlos parken. Wir haben die Zeit dort sehr genossen.

Excellent dog friendly house with plenty of rooms to give people space. Perfect location as the town centre is literally round the corner. Great location for biking in Dalby, 5 mins in the car. Loads of lovely places to eat in the town, and a short drive the Fox and Rabbit do a lovely Sunday roast! Thank you!

Very nice and clean, excellent facilities

Location good but not for older guests. Positive: Very convenient for location we required. Lovely property but could do with an update in various areas. Negative: Stairs to top floor (attic rooms) were very hard to manage but also no toilet on top floor. the overall property was not very clean apart from the beds which were. The property was very dusty and between the cushions on sofa were very bitty with crumbs. Hot tap in sink turned so not able to use very easy. It was a very hot week and the aga was on all the time so made it very hot in lounge, with no fan on ground floor. The fan on front top floor bedroom didn't work so needs looking at. Windows on all floors not easy to use.

A spacious property just a five minute walk to town centre but still nice and peaceful. Everything as described and shown in pictures. All very clean and tidy.

pretty, comfortable and well equipped property, in a central location with parking ! perfect 🤩 Positive: loved the property it was in a great location and had everything we needed. Negative: The aga cooker was something we wasn’t used to but not a complaint more of a learning curve

The place is in a great location with only a small walk to pubs, restaurants and shops. Property was clean and homely, would recommend!

Lovely stay here. House was clean and tidy and beds very comfortable. Even got to use the outside space as the sun was shining. Great location and everything we needed on the doorstep. Had an amazing meal in the recommended bistro. Would definitely stay here again

Always enjoy being in a different location for long walks Positive: N/A Negative: A music venue just outside the property had an event on the Sunday from 4 til 11. This was extremely loud and obviously went on for many hrs! I realise that nobody can legislate for things outside of the property but that is why we put good not excellent

Lovely little stay in Pickering, great location, walking distance to all the local shops, pubs and the steam railway. Comfortable and spacious bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Would highly recommend!

The house was right in the heart of Pickering and it was easy to get to all the facilities in town in under 5 minutes. We were slightly worried about the on street parking but we found a convenient space every time we returned home. The nearest EV charger was a 4 minute walk away and it took 90 minutes to charge the car - we left it there while we were at a meal. We would certainly go back as the house had everything we needed and was a great base for touring this part of the world. There was far too much to see and do in just one week.

We travelled as a family with elderly parents one who had recently broken a collarbone so was being very careful …. Had a fantastic stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect—right in the town centre, with shops, restaurants, and everything you need just a short walk away. It made exploring the area super convenient. Highly recommend to anyone visiting!

We made some beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you. Positive: Beautifully presented, warm and welcoming. The Aga was a joy and everything you could want in the kitchen. The bathroom was stunning. Negative: Absolutely nothing!! It was simply perfect.

Fabulous location allowing us to enjoy all local amenities. Perfect position to explore the area and have restaurants, pubs, supermarkets on hand. Extremely responsive host who was really helpful. Very happy with our stay in this lovely property.

A nice house, the stairs could be an issue, if like me you have dodgy knees. Parking is a problem.

Negative: Unclean, cluttered.

Good location in the centre of Pickering. Parking was easy with lots of space. There is a nice patio at the back. The AGA was great to cook on. We’d thoroughly recommend.

House lovely, host and stay awful to deal with Positive: Lovely property, generally clean but a few cobwebs. Great location and comfortable beds. Negative: Only one toilet roll provided for 4 guests. Host and stay are a terrible company to deal with - sent me numerous messages about completing a check in form prior to arrival but didn’t include the actual check in form, when I raised this I was charged an extra £30 with no explanation, raised this and was told it was for the “early check in” that I’d requested. Have requested a refund for this which I’ve yet to receive. Will not be booking with host and stay properties again due to this.

Short walk to town centre. Positive: Accommodation was very good in an excellent location to make use of the facilities offered in Pickering. Negative: Lockbox was a little fussy in the dark, but we did get in any everything was as anticipated.

Positive: Great location, clean and guide book site/app was great. Negative: No coffee machine and only one toilet paper provided. Aga was too hot for the room for summer but not hot enough to use the oven to cook

Pickering is a lovely place to stay and great base to explore the North York Moors. The cottage was spacious, with lovely comfortable beds, and felt easy to relax in after a busy day.

It was a lovely house in a pretty, quiet location. Positive: The house was very modern and had everything you would need. A lovely little courtyard at the back with plenty of seating. one of the bedrooms had 2 sinks, Negative: Only one bathroom in which was the toilet. The shower head was static and not adjustable, so for a women trying not to get her hair wet was diffiicult.

Amazing stay in a beautiful house Positive: The house was amazing. Close enough to walk to amenties. We had a lovely time. Negative: The only issue with the house was that the AGA cooker was on and there was instructions not to turn it off. It was 30 degrees the day we arrived and the heat in the house was hard to handle. We opened the doors but when we went to bed the heat kept us awake for ages. That was the only pitfall.

Perfect location, beautiful village, brilliant house! Positive: The lock box flap was a bit stiff, we took about 10 minutes to get it open! Negative: It would be great to improve by getting blackout blinds or curtains! Everything else was perfect!

Beckside stay Positive: Location, comfort, well equipped. Massive beds. Would recommend and visit again. Negative: Finding the property was difficult, parking near the property can be an issue. The Arga oven takes too long to cook. Would have been nice to have a later check out

Terrible deal as no decent washing facilities until maintenance sorted with 1 night to go. Complained everyday and no answers or full communication on how they are resolving

Positive: The bedrooms were excellent and the beds were very comfortable. The kichen was very well equipped and cosy with the Aga. The location was brilliant and so close to all the shops pubs and attractions. Negative: The bathroom needs a bit of an update on some of the loose fittings. Also the size of the shower is a shame considering the size of the room .

We had a lovely stay here. it was a great location, right in the centre of Pickering. Hosts were able to split two of the beds up to suit our party better. Thank you very much for our stay!

Positive: Everything you needed was there, we bought some extras but everything you need is there. Negative: The cooker was a little fiddly it's not a criticism as I've never encountered an aga. Once I sussed it it was fine.

Clean, cosy and amazing location. Checkin was easy, comms were great and the property itself was fabulous. Super comfy, well equipped and spotlessly clean. I would def stay again and recommend to others too. We have a wonderful time in Pickering.

Extremely well placed for for the heritage railway and museums.

God! The noise Positive: The location was good. Negative: One bathroom between three bedrooms (two on another floor). No parking outside (workmen had this reserved). Very noisy in the morning - started at 7am on first morning and 6:30 on the 2nd morning. Impossible to sleep. We checked out a day early and Booking.Com (so far) have not refunded the last night. Worst stay I have ever had on the Booking.com site.
