great location to walk to anywhere in Whitby - right in the heart of everything, yet quiet and peaceful too. Great space for large family, bonus to be dog friendly too!

Great stay, easy to find and super walkable to everything we wanted to do. The rooms were all great sizes, and the open living space for perfect for our family incl toddlers & dog!

Great location with a sea view. The place was spotless and spacious, plenty of space for 6 adults an infant and 2 dogs. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the area

Very good. If we ever return to Whitby en famille, we'd almost certainly book this place again. Positive: Location for beach and views and access to town centre. Apartment is very smart, nothing scruffy or worn-out at all. All the plumbing works. Having 4 toilets for 6 people is brilliant. Negative: Overall this property is excellent. But, given the care and money that has clearly been lavished upon it, there were a few surprising oddities about the catering equipment provided. e.g. No potato peeler (we bought one and left it there, but it's not top quality, so others may like to bring their own). It's an apartment for 6 people, so having only 6 of various plates, tumblers etc meant having to wash stuff more frequently than desirable. We'd rather have had, say, 12 tumblers, 1 or 2 dishes to serve casseroles in, and a bit more cutlery (incl some serving spoons) rather than the 27 wine glasses provided. CAR PARKING : The parking slot for one car is perfect, just 20 metres from the front door (when you get there : but the last half-mile of the drive through narrow one-way streets is not for the faint-hearted !) But 6 people will usually come in two cars, and for the second car parking will be a daily hassle. For a second car it would be very useful if Host&Stay could provide detailed guidance on how to get a Parking Permit etc..

A lovely place with a very high quality finish. It was super clean. Five of us stayed and the location was perfect. If you stay here, be prepared to walk up some hills but to be honest we loved it and it gave our legs a much needed workout. The host was really fast on response to query - the instructions are all online so make sure you download or bookmark the site. Really easy to park and get in. We will definitely come back we loved it. I will leave with a comment from Will my daughter’s boyfriend as he walked in .. “Wow this is brilliant, the best place I’ve ever stayed in ..” Thank you and we’ll be back. Four days away with the family for Halloween. Positive: I have to say that this was likely the best, cleanest, t comfortable, relaxing and well appointed property we’ve stayed in. The owners have done a fantastic job with it. Perfectly placed, just out of the way but still very close and just a short walk from the centre. We loved our stay there and will very likely book again as I can’t see how it can be topped. Thanks

It’s a shame that check-in was late and check-out was so early which meant we couldn’t relax and make the most of our short getaway. Otherwise the property was lovely - great layout for our large family and plenty of bathrooms which is always useful. We enjoyed the town, many restaurants and activities.

A wonderful short break in Whitby in this perfectly located, spacious apartment, great for a big family group or friends Positive: The living area was fabulous, it was bright, clean and modern.. Really Spacious with lovely views. The apartment was excellent, really well Equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. Set in a fabulous location with easy parking. Negative: Unfortunately the lower levels smelt a bit damp, especially the basement bedroom.

I stayed here with my family and their dog for a weekend! Can't recommend it enough, short walk from the town centre and the house itself is beautiful!

Really excellent location for town and walking the amazing cliffs. Positive: Warm, well appointed and modern. We had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and everything felt clean and new. Negative: One parking space - we were a group of friends arriving from different locations. Otherwise it was £11 a day in peak season using local car parks (although happily free after 31st Oct).

Excellent, spacious, well presented property in a central location. Positive: Fantastic spacious property in a central location, three bed/three bathrooms, off road parking, views from the living space, very well presented throughout, good value, great for families or friend groups, would not hesitate to book again. Negative: Lack of normal drinking glasses/tumblers and pint glasses, there are no hooks or anywhere to hang wet towels - both points are on previous feedback but have not been addressed. The property was generally very well presented and clean but there were spills down the kitchen units and on the wall/skirting by the bin, also similar in the small ensuite. Host & Stay kept sending messages to fill in a registration form and pay damage cover with no links to click on as stated - messaged two or three times re this, initially no response, then just the standard messages sent again, still no links. Eventually spoke to someone who said 'yeah, when you book with booking.com the links don't work' - well if they know that, then please address it - it is very frustrating for the customer.

Positive: Great location, ideal for 6 adults having three bathrooms. Well equipped and comfortable. Nice vaulted ceiling in the lounge. Negative: Only one parking space and no outside area.

I can recommend the property but NOT Host and Stay. Positive: This was my 2nd visit 1 The Mount. It’s a beautiful light and airy house on 3 levels. Lots of privacy for small groups, perfect location – minutes from town and beach, sea views from the large kitchen/living area. It also has a dedicated parking space. Negative: Sadly, the property is let down by the management company, Host and Stay. I notified them twice during my stay that the cooker hob did not work and therefore we were unable to cook anything (as planned). Host and Stay did not respond or try to resolve the issue until after I had returned home. I received an email saying “Sorry, hope it didn’t spoil your stay”. Well of course it did! All guests had to go out to eat (in gale force winds and torrential rain) at additional cost and inconvenience. Most of the food we had brought with us was wasted and it completely turned our plans upside down. Host and Stay offered a small refund, however, this was 10 days ago and despite chasing up several times, I have heard nothing and received nothing. I am not happy.

We really enjoyed our stay, great that there was a parking space. Lovely fresh decor - which is not always the case when it’s dog friendly! Spacious bedrooms with en-suite to the two doubles, plus a house bathroom and an extra loo! Would definitely return and recommend!

A wonderful few days spent at 1 the mount. Plenty of space with everything we needed and gorgeous views. Outside space wasnt an issue for the dogs as there is a big green area opposite the property. Only negative was the narrow entrance to the house which made it difficult with cases and our pram but we made it work! Would definitely stay again

Lovely property In a great location to the main area of Whitby, easy to walk there and back if you don’t mind walking on a little bit of an incline when going back to the accommodation. Spacious accomodation and clean Good amenities Would recommend and stay again :) Had a high chair but this was not easy to find and we were told they had one and then told that there wasn’t one. It was found in the boiler cupboard in one of the ensuite bathrooms. Shame that they did not have a travel cot

Beautiful house with lots of space for 6 of us and a toddler, staying with 3 generations of our family there felt plenty of room, with comfortable rooms and living space. Everything we needed was to hand. We used the local recommendations for places to eat and visit which was helpful. Perfectly located with good walking straight out of the door. The parking space was handy for access. we would definitely recommend and return if in the area again. Thank you

Wonderful short break, can’t wait to return! Positive: Very clean and modern. Everything thought of. We had a great stay so much so we extended by another night. Confines of beds is really important to us and the beds in the accommodation were super comfy. We will definitely book again in the autumn. Negative: Nothing really springs to mind. Perhaps the cushions on the sofas could do with a clean. And more Yorkshire teabags pls!

Perfectly located for all Whitby had to offer. Ideal for 3 couples to stay, well laid out with the living room and kitchen on the top floor with views to the Whalebone arch, Captain Cook statue and the sea. Contact with Dale throughout booking, leading up to and during our stay was prompt and informative. We would stay in 1 The Mount again !!

Great house, clean and well equipped with comfy rooms and beautifully decorated. Positive: Great location, easy to walk into the centre of Whitby. Clean and spacious - it's a bit like a tardis! Well equipped and comfortable. Negative: No curtains on the windows - fortunately we had brought eye masks because the blinds didn't stop the morning light coming in.

Nice house, great location, unfortunately let down by attention to detail and lack of facilities. Positive: Location very good, loved the view of the sea from the kitchen. Stroll to the centre was just a quick 10 minutes away. The house itself looked good on first entry, everything you could need for a long weekend stay with a party of five adults. Lots of mugs and wine glasses! Three bathrooms and an upstairs toilet - it was an upside down house, made not having to race to the bathroom, which was good. Negative: The key box felt like it was on its way out, very tricky to get into and leave keys at the end of the stay. Attention to detail was very lax! The crockery had chips in nearly every plate, bowl. Too many wine glasses and not enough drinking tumblers (there was four!). Only two hand towels left for a party of five adults! Dishwasher was full when we arrived, had to empty it ourselves, still dirty items, so had to wash these ourselves! Old helium balloon floating around living room/kitchen, we got it down ourselves and disposed of it. Dust and cobwebs missed during the clean up, paintwork definitely in need of touch up, mould on basement bedroom window frame. Like I said attention to detail. The saddest thing was I informed the Host and Stay company during my visit - they offered to send someone to do an re-clean but I’d already done it for them! They said they’d bring more towels on the Saturday - but they didn’t! They thought just saying they would inform owners and housekeeping staff about our issues was a satisfactory outcome. The money I paid for this stay, I expected better than what we got. Also, on checkout day, I make sure all beds are stripped, no mattress protectors and on one of the double rooms mattress had a stain which looked like blood! It’s a shame, this could have got an excellent or outstanding review if the attention to detail had been met. They should have at least offered a part refund for missing facilities and our inconvenience.

Positive: Great location and very clean Negative: No mirrors in the ensuite bathroom, front bedroom with 2 single beds in was very cold. No tv's in bedroom. I thought the host and stay staff were not very accommodating for our needs

Excellent property, location and facilities. Positive: Location, space, 3 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms and one bathroom. 4 toilets including bathroom & shower rooms. Clean & modern decor. Beautiful renovation exposing the beams in the lounge dining area and features of the property. Negative: Nothing to dislike. Could do with a mirror in the en-suite shower room.

Great location, lovely spacious and very clean property! Positive: The property itself was great. The photos didn't do the place justice, it was much more spacious than it looked on the photos. Great location. Lovely touches with the tea, coffee and milk sachets. Exceptionally clean. Number of bathrooms was confusing on the listing, there were infact 4 bathrooms. One with a bathroom, 2 double rooms had ensuites with showers, and an extra toilet on the floor where the living area is. Negative: Beds were comfy but a superking bed would have been preferred. Couldn't locate a chopping board, looked everywhere for one but never found one?! Could have done with an extra comfy chair in the lounge area, and possibly a footstool for those of us who like to put our feet up. Main criticism was all the extra fees that we kept being approached with re £40 extra for insurance, £36 for an hour earlier check in, up to £100 for an 11am check in, £40 for an hour later checkout. I have never experienced all these extra costs for this is all the properties I have rented. Usually if the property is available for an early check in this is offered at no extra cost.

Great position and easy walk to all the main areas and the coastal path.

A very comfortable and spacious home for 3 adults, with everything we needed and in a fantastic location. I would definitely stay again if in the area and would recommend it. The Cornish Bakery, near the beach is great for pasties and coffee!

We had a great stay. The location was brilliant, although this did mean there could be people walking past the window talking loudly. It was very spacious and nicely decorated with a lovely sea view.

Negative: Only 6 dinner plates was inadequate,(one per person, but none left for food service, and with so many chips, those could use a refresh. 4:00 check in seemed very late, especially with check out being at 10 am.

The property was located centrally for Whitby with all of the town within walking distance. The house was in great condition, very clean, lots of amenities and very spacious. Overall and excellent stay for us and highly recommended

Really lovely, spacious place to stay. The living area is huge and having a parking space, was definitely a bonus. It’s a little hard to find with the one way system but once we figured it out, the location was great. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Whitby.

Great location, great views, great living room area. Positive: The living room on the top, with the well equipped kitchen, provided lovely views of Cooks statue, and the lovely whalebone arch... The location was great... Negative: I know this has been referenced before, but the ensuite shower in the double room, on the floor upon entering the property was too small....

Positive: Self catering. Went to Wetherspoon for breakfast. Just a 5 min walk. Parking brilliant. Amazing views from first floor lounge with windows on three aspects.

Such a lovely place and so clean. Our own parking space, sea views and less than a five minute walk from the quayside. We'll 100% be back.

Excellent stay in high quality holiday rental in excellent location. Positive: The property has been done out to a high spec and high quality. Has everything you need and more, for a holiday rental. Cleanliness standards are very high. It’s in an excellent location near to central hub - and Whitby is lovely. The only minor criticism would be that the heating is noisy when you switch it on in the basement bedroom and there is only one car park space. We loved our short break stay and would definitely stay again.

We lived this house, spacious rooms, plenty of bathrooms, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The location is fantastic, just steps away from restaurants, bars and walks.

Nice stay - would return Positive: Lovely place! Very spacious and everything we needed! Negative: The charge for the waiver is not described in the listing. Its basically £25 non refundable, or £250 charge, with £10 admin fee deducted! Also, property was empty on arrival, but we only got offered to check in early for an extra cost of £30. This could have been done as a good will gesture, considering the amount we paid to stay here!

Great stay in Whitby Positive: Lovely property with plenty of space and well equipped. 2 rooms with en suites plus additional bathroom and another separate toilet. Good central location. Negative: A 6 berth property needs more than 1 parking space. With little 24 hour plus parking close by, this caused to be a bit of problem. I understand that property maintenance need to be able to park adjacent to to the property but to have a whole parking space barriered off for the duration of the stay doesn't seem to make total sense when having to move second car around to comply with parking restrictions.

Overall we enjoyed our stay lovely property Positive: Loved our stay, a clean and comfortable property in a central location. Negative: A few cleaning issues need addressing, window sills and stairwells need a thorough clean also the carpets. Toilet seat in basement needs replacing.

Overall very nice stay. Great communication and check in. Location was perfect and very handy having a parking space. There were a few minor issues with the rental but not big enough to post publicly. We would definitely stay again and that’s the main thing.

The place itself is lovely and would recommend staying here! We had an uncomfortable run in with the locals when we took a wrong turn and couldn’t find our parking space. But host and stay were very helpful when contacted and made us feel at home!

Excellent 3 Bedroom apartment in Whitby Positive: Good location and excellent condition Negative: Property lacked dish towels, slip mat in the tub, hand soap in the bathrooms, and property management liked to remind me to not break anything and depart by the agreed time or we would be charged. A little too much and we took out their insurance in case anything was damaged, plus I imagine they have their own insurance for any issues. Otherwise it was very nice.

Excellent accommodation, offering everything you need for a really comfortable and relaxing break. Positive: Every room was furnished to a high standard, with everything you needed for your stay. Had a great time, everything was perfect

Accommodation was lovely but some niggled which would mean we don’t stay there again. Positive: Spacious, modern and clean Negative: No TV connection for terrestrial TV. Very disappointing as we don’t have accounts to log into the services such as Netflix . We spent a lot of the week emailing back and forth to resolve this and we were finally informed on the 3rd day of your holiday there was no aerial connection. Issue with one of the en-suites- very smelly drains/ plumbing which made it unusable and the bedroom very unpleasant to sleep in. Once it was reported the maintenance team did come and try and resolve the issue.

Lovely spacious property within a short walk of Whitby centre.

We absolutely loved staying in this house. The location and views couldn’t have been better. Communication was great from start to finish and we would definitely stay here again.
