The Puakenikeni Suite — named after one of Hawaii's most beloved lei flowers — is a ground-floor retreat in the second building of The Historic Wailuku Inn, a boutique 10-suite property in the heart of walkable Wailuku. Renovated in 2024, the suite blends the charm of a bygone era with every modern comfort. Framed Hawaiian botanical prints, warm wood floors, and thoughtful details throughout make this more than a place to stay — it's a genuine Maui experience.

About this property

Welcome to The Historic Wailuku Inn, a boutique 10-suite property in the heart of Wailuku, one of Maui's most charming and walkable towns.
The inn is rooted in over a century of Maui history. Our main house dates back to 1924, and the entire property — including this suite — was meticulously renovated and refurnished to blend the grace of its original era with the comforts guests expect today.

Your Suite
The Puakenikeni Suite is located on the ground floor of our second building and features its own private entrance. It was designed to reflect the historic character found throughout the inn — think classic furnishings, warm wood floors, and thoughtful details at every turn. This suite is also ADA-compliant for easy accessibility.

The Property
All guests enjoy full access to the inn's shared spaces, including our beautifully landscaped tropical gardens, common areas in the main house, and quiet spots to relax under the palms with a morning coffee or a good book.

What to Expect
This is a boutique inn — intimate, residential, and full of character. If you've been staying at large resorts or modern condos, the experience here is intentionally different. Suites are cozy rather than sprawling, and the historic architecture carries the warmth (and personality) of a home built across generations.

Amenities
Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi · In-room coffee maker and mini-fridge · Concierge services for island exploration · Touchless check-in for a seamless arrival ·

Your Hosts
