Riversong Retreat | Sandy River Front Cabin

Step off the porch and you're on your own stretch of the Sandy River — cold, clear mountain water running through old-growth Pacific firs. Riversong Retreat is cabin in Mt. Hood National Forest's Welches valley, with soaring tongue-and-groove ceilings, warm wood throughout, and a loft lounge above the main floor with projector TV. Managed by Cascadia Getaways for 24/7 support.

The cabin is built around a great room with a vaulted tongue-and-groove ceiling that draws the eye up through two full stories of warm Douglas fir. Large windows face the forest and Sandy River— towering Pacific firs, filtered light, the river audible through the trees. Curl up by the wood fire stove and enjoy the sounds of the river or relax with a move in the upstairs projector loft.

Main floor: a comfortable sitting area with armchairs and a couch, coffee table, dining space, and a full kitchen stocked for cooking in. Two bedrooms, one queen and one bunk room with a shared bathroom.

A staircase leads to a loft lounge with projector screen — a quiet perch above the main floor.

Outside, a short path through the trees leads directly to the Sandy River. Spectacular in summer for swimming and wading; stunning in autumn when the cottonwoods go gold.

Welches sits in the Sandy River valley at the base of Mt. Hood, surrounded by Mt. Hood National Forest. It's quiet here by design — a small local store, a few restaurants, and the river.

Summer brings river days, hiking, and mountain biking. Winter opens up Timberline, Meadows, and Ski Bowl — three ski areas within 40 miles.

A car is essential — with limited transit options to Welches. We do have shuttle service recommendations in the guestbook. The cabin sits at the end of a gravel road that any standard vehicle handles in all seasons. Sandy (full grocery, pharmacy) is ~20 miles west. Portland is roughly 60 miles via Highway 26 — plan 60–75 minutes depending on traffic.
