Amazing cottage for a perfect getaway out of the city. The house is beautiful and the place very pleasant. Would recommend to anyone who’d like to take some rest and enjoy calm and peace in the middle of the forest. The terrace is great and many hikes are accessible close to the place. Thanks a lot for having us.
Great stay in the Catskills. Remote, peaceful, quiet, and close to great hikes. Stayed in the spring and felt like the cottage could have used a little more airing out from being closed up from whenever it was used last. An enjoyable few days and the host was very responsive to any questions.
Very charming, bucolic setting. Like the ADKs-Southern NY version. Great nearby hikes. Not many dining options so plan on filling up your gas tank quite a bit and driving 40 minutes just for a meal. Also the cell service is awful in the area in general (not the host's fault) which made navigation very challenging. Directions never took us the same way twice. But the place is exactly as described and beautiful and clean. Would've appreciated some dining and/or grocery shopping recommendations. Luckily there's a little deli/gas station about 15 minutes away. Other than getting turned around a bunch and driving 47 minutes for a burger, we would definitely go again! Just with a bigger gas budget for exploring the area ;) great place!
Nice cabin, solid stay if you set your expectations right
We were happy with our stay. A nice home base for the Slide Mountain and Giant's Ledge hikes. A bit over an hour to Kaaterskills and or Minnewaska. A ton of porch space, not a ton of indoor hangout space if you're with a decent sized group (we were not).
The only true hassle is just that the walk from the Car to the Front Door is rough and not illuminated. Plan to have a flashlight ready if you're arriving at night. You'll be carrying your stuff over rocks/gravel/dirt
The large is yard but you're in the woods. Be aware of ticks and other insects on the property (not in the cabin itself!)
The two bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs are accessible via a spiral staircase and connected via a wooden platform of slats. The slats had noticeable give when this 200lb person walked on them. Don't plan on a super tall or a big person being comfortable going upstairs. Again, it's a cabin. Set your expectations.
Perspective wise, we thought we missed the house because a lot of the outside pictures are actually looking at the road. You look down at the house from the road, and park on the road as well.
Tip for getting here (not a reflection of the property itself): Depending on where you're coming from, the GPS might take you from the east. This way involves several miles of seasonal dirt road that I don't recommend unless you're into that sort of thing. Our GPS took us there at night - not my favorite night drive. Coming from Claryville involves only a short bit of dirt road.
Gorgeous space and great value. The fall foliage was incredible and the owners have built a really magical outdoor space to enjoy. Porch was a dream!! Took advantage of the close proximity to the best trails. Did not spend a lot of time inside, but the space was a good fit for 4 people (includ. 1 couple). No cell service in the general area, which hosts are very communicative about. Would love to return.
Me with my wife spent a week at this beautiful place. Great cozy place in Catskills to unplug and recharge.
The Red Cottage was everything my family and I were looking for - for our 2 day upstate getaway. It was a perfect, quiet, relaxing cabin style stay w everything you needed inside. Wifi was great for some of us that to work a few hours.
Lots of trails and activities nearby for all the nature lovers. It was hard to leave! We will definitely be back :)
My family and I had a wonderful getaway. It was just what we had hoped for and then some! A very peaceful place to enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle.
The all wood cottage was lovely, set in a quiet woodland, it was exactly what we were looking for
We had a nice cozy stay in the first few days of November. I did a lot of local fly fishing and that was wonderful with perfect fall conditions. The place has everything - the upstairs is super cool. The wrap-around deck was nice with gates, so we didn't worry about our dog. I'd say the place would get tight if there are more than 4 people, simply because the seating in the kitchen is tight and so is the seating in the living room. However, in the warmer months with the way the deck is designed with a big picnic table and grill, it would be much more spacious. Overall, it was exactly what we were looking for in a fall getaway weekend.
We were a group of 4 wanting to spend a few days out of the city and very much enjoyed our time in this cute house. It had everything we needed, and from there we were able to easily explore the surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend!
cozy and isolated. only concerns was the fact that one of the beds’ pillows were covered in dog hair (probably from the previous guests) and the wasps’ nest on the rear of the house
Cozy little cabin with beautiful surroundings. Very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed taking walks in the area as well as just lounging on the deck. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The cabin overall made a very comfortable home away from home. Our host was excellent and very responsive.
We had great time at Red Cottage's place. Would recommended to anyone looking to stay in the area. Thank you again.
Great serene place. We had very bad rainy and windy weather, but was still a great stay. Only small wish was to have the WIFI password placed on the fridge or somewhere in the house. Was tricky without cell service.
Gorgeous hideaway!
We were looking for a house close to Frost Valley YMCA. It’s a 15 minute drive and was very accessible. The house is beautifully situated in the woods and has a wonderful veranda all the way around the outside. Sitting outside with coffee in the morning is a real treat. The house is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. It is warm, but with all of the windows open and the fans, it was very comfortable at night. Wi-Fi worked well. Kitchen is small, but well appointed. Very clean.
Great cabin, very clean and well kept up.
Great place, would definitely revisit.
beautiful beautiful cabin, really cozy. exactly what we wanted for our forest getaway
Great Get Away
The location is amazing. So rural and quiet!
Great porch and outdoor area. Inside the living room furniture was not the most comfortable, but we didn't spend much time there.
The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and plenty of glasses/cups, silverware and plates.
There is no extra bedding, so plan on bringing extra blankets. There is also no laundry facilities and Laundromat are 12-15 miles away.
Downstairs bedroom with full size bed was the worst. Bed was fine but bedframe was large and bulky and difficult to get around without whacking your knees. Would be better with a queen size mattress on Hollywood frame. Would take up the same footprint without the bruises.
Overall, a neat house.
We had an amazing time at the cabin. It was cozy and peaceful. We loved the porch area overlooking the woods. It was such a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend.
Quiet cabin in the woods
We had a really nice 4 day stay at this property. The cabin is very nice with a great deck where you will spend most of your time. Kitchen has about everything you'll need and was very clean. The bathrooms are modern. The property is in the Catskill Park and there are minimal shopping opportunities, so be sure to get food before you arrive. If you want peace and quiet this is the place.
We had a wedding to attend at the Claryville firehouse and this cottage was the perfect location! The cottage is cute and in the trees, with a stream right next door. It was rainy when we were there so we didn’t get to use the amazing deck but in nice weather it would be the perfect place to relax.
One word of warning—our maps app (for some reason Air BnB won’t let me use the “G” word) took both of our cars coming to the cottage to the wrong place. The owner’s instructions give an address but there is no actual address on the house. Look for the cottage sign that says “Woodlands.”
Charming home in the Catskills. Gorgeous surroundings and very peaceful. Close to excellent dining. Would definitely stay here again.
