Troutwood Chalet is a renovated A-frame with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, set on 6 private, wooded acres just outside Roscoe in the western Catskills.

A covered front porch leads inside, where the stairs rise straight ahead to the upper level and the great room opens beneath soaring vaulted ceilings. A wood-burning fireplace and a deep sectional sofa make this the natural gathering place on cool evenings, and the Smart TV is ready for movie night.

The modern kitchen sits just beyond, with Samsung stainless steel appliances, an induction cooktop, open shelving, and a dishwasher. It’s stocked with everything you need for family-style meals. The dining area is lined with windows and opens directly onto the deck, so you can flow easily from inside to outdoor living in the warmer months.

The home spans three levels, giving everyone a bit of their own space. On the main floor, a bedroom with a queen bed sits off the hallway, along with a full bathroom with a tub and shower combo and laundry facilities. Upstairs, the primary suite is a private retreat with a king bed, woodland views, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Just outside the bedroom, a loft with a desk makes a quiet spot for remote work.

The finished lower level has its own entry foyer and flex space with a weight set and bench, a third bedroom with a queen bed, and a half bath, making it ideal for a second couple or older kids who want a little privacy. A second dedicated workspace means two people can work from home without sharing a desk.

Outside, the property is made for slow days in the woods. The upper deck has a Gas grill and outdoor dining, and a lower deck adds more seating. Steps lead down to a fire pit with modern seating, and red Adirondack chairs dot the lawn. A short path leads to a gazebo tucked into the trees.

Ductless mini-splits provide heating and air conditioning in every season, and the bedrooms are furnished with Casper mattresses and quality bedding. High-speed Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and a Pack ‘n Play round out the amenities, and well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Roscoe’s fly fishing, breweries, and shops are just minutes away, and Livingston Manor is about 15 minutes down the road. Troutwood Chalet is a cozy, fully equipped A-frame for anglers, families, and anyone looking for a quiet Catskills escape.

The area

Troutwood Chalet sits just outside Roscoe, known as Trout Town USA, where the Beaverkill and Willowemoc meet at the famous Junction Pool.

Anglers can spend their days on some of the most celebrated fly fishing water in the country, then visit the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. Back in town, grab a pint at Roscoe Beer Company, just 10 minutes from the house, or browse the Roscoe O&W Railway Museum.

Livingston Manor, about 15 minutes away, has a walkable Main Street lined with shops, cafés, and restaurants, plus Catskill Brewery and Upward Brewing just outside the village.

In summer, swim, paddle, and picnic at Beaverkill State Campground by the old covered bridge, about 23 minutes away. In winter, ski and tube at Holiday Mountain, about 40 minutes south, or Belleayre about 50 minutes away.

Troutwood Chalet is about 2.5 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting here and exploring the area. The main access route is NY-17 west to Roscoe. The final approach is a steep, unpaved private road, so a 4x4 or all-wheel-drive vehicle with good clearance is required in winter.

Notes from your host

Dogs are welcome. The driveway offers parking for up to four cars. A doorbell camera monitors the front entrance. This is bear country, so please store garbage in the shed by the driveway and keep all food indoors.

RULES:
SMOKING: No smoking is permitted inside the house. If you must smoke, please do so outside and dispose of butts properly. Any violation of this policy is subject to a $500 fee.

WATER USAGE: We kindly ask you to be mindful of your water usage during your stay. Our water supply relies on a well, and excessive use can temporarily deplete it. If this happens, the system will automatically shut off to allow for replenishment, which may cause a temporary disruption.

OVEN: Please do not use the self-clean feature of the oven. You risk damaging the oven and preventing the door from unlocking. This will result in appliance technicians needing to be called and an additional fee associated with your stay.

SPACE HEATERS: Never plug space heaters into extension cords (this is a fire hazard). They must always be plugged directly into a wall outlet.
