What an unexpected gem! From the photos and descriptions, we were hoping for a quiet lake house to wind down for a week amid otherwise hectic lives. But this property delivered well above and beyond our expectations. The property was stunning, the views were lovely and all the amenities were top-notch. Things that stood out: the space was large and inviting, allowing each of our 4 adult family members their own space (bedrooms were roomy, bathrooms well arranged, and there were three separate common areas). Also, it is part of a small lake development/community, so there's access to a pool (and other amenities) within a short drive. The towns of Coxsackie and Athens, while small and quiet, were both a 10 minute drive, meaning easy run for supplies or restaurants if you don't want to go over the bridge into Hudson (which itself is only about 20 minutes). All in all, a lovely, restful stay.
Beautiful House and Lake
We had a beautiful stay at the house and the lake. It was convenient to have the lake in the backyard with kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, and the fire pit was a joy. The house itself was cozy and comforting. Some of the carpet hurts your feet but that was the only downside. Our family had a lovely stay.
Gorgeous vibes in the cottage. So chic. It felt much more spacious than expected due to the smart layout and large windows and doors facing the lake. The whole place is perfect and well decorated. We will definitely stay again. Our kids fished all day and we could see them and it was relaxing and peaceful.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful! It is just as gorgeous inside as it is outside and was everything we were hoping for in our vacation. It was clean and comfortable. The kayaks and paddleboards were perfect for exploring the lake. The hosts were extremely responsive and we are definitely planning on staying again next year!
We had a lovely weekend at Red Cottage. This was one of the nicest air bnbs I have stayed in. It was beautifully decorated, clean, and had a gorgeous view of the water. There were three couples staying and we had more than enough room. The host was communicative which we appreciated. We would recommend!
This property was absolutely stunning! We enjoyed our time relaxing in the many comfy areas, cooking in the beautiful and spacious kitchen, and exploring the nearby hikes and towns. Would highly recommend this listing and we will certainly be back!!
Great location for some quiet family time, but not far from good food, Albany and NYC. The house is very well tended and stocked for most any need.
We enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time. House was clean and roomy enough to spread out, great backyard area for relaxing by the fire/water. Location was good, peaceful and fairly close to shops and other nearby towns. Host was responsive and accommodating throughout.

Thank you for such a nice and peaceful stay. The location itself is amazingly peaceful and the home is a work of art. Everything is thoughtful from the entryway to the bedrooms, entertaining spaces, and different areas outside to hang out and just relax. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Enjoy the stay except for one night and kept walking up to the noise from the heater. Kind of haunting experience but overall we had fun.

Beautiful house in a great spot. Quality finishes, very clean, well stocked. has everything one could need, supplies are neatly organized and easy to find. good quality cookware, which is a rarity for airbnbs.
