Welcome to Solway House, a contemporary retreat tucked into the woods of Saugerties, just minutes from Woodstock in the Hudson Valley. With four bedrooms, two and a half baths, a private sauna, and a separate recording studio, this is a home made for slowing down, gathering together, and creating something memorable.

As you step inside, a convenient powder room sits just past the main entrance. The living room centers on a fireplace, with a record player close at hand, so you can pull a favorite album, light the fire, and settle in for the evening. Just off the main living space, the media room has a TV and Nintendo 64, perfect for movie nights and friendly competition with kids and adults alike.

Upstairs, you’ll find all four bedrooms. At the end of the upstairs hall on the right, the primary suite is a true retreat, with a queen bed, sliding doors to its own private balcony overlooking the front yard, and an ensuite bathroom with a double vanity and a large walk-in shower. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and sliding doors that open to a private balcony overlooking the backyard. Bedroom 3, the first door on the right at the top of the stairs, offers a comfortable queen bed. Bedroom 4, is a favorite with younger guests, with a twin bunk bed and a twin trundle that can sleep three. A full hallway bathroom with a shower and tub combination serves the other bedrooms.

Outside, the large bluestone patio makes the most of warm-weather living, with a grill and plenty of seating for long dinners under the trees. The outdoor sofa area and outdoor dining table are available April through October. The sauna, grill, fire pit with Adirondack chairs, and the kids' Bijou Build play structure are available year round. As the evening cools, gather around the fire pit for s’mores and conversation, while the kids enjoy the play area on the lawn. After a day of hiking or skiing, unwind in the sauna and let the quiet of the woods take over.

For musicians and creatives, a separate recording studio is available for use upon request, a fitting nod to the area’s legendary music history.

Solway House sits in the wooded hills of Saugerties, a classic Hudson Valley village with antique shops, farm-to-table dining, and a walkable Main Street. Stroll the trail to the historic Saugerties Lighthouse on the Hudson, or wander the stone sculpture park at Opus 40. Next door, Woodstock offers galleries, boutiques, and live music at the Bearsville Theater. Hike Overlook Mountain for sweeping views, or head into the Catskills for Kaaterskill Falls and the trails of North-South Lake. In summer, cool off on the Esopus Creek or catch the HITS horse shows. Kingston’s Stockade District serves up some of the region’s best restaurants and cafes, and Hudson’s Warren Street is lined with design shops and wine bars. In winter, Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre mountains are all within an hour for skiing and snowboarding. Whatever the season, the Hudson Valley and Catskills offer something new to discover every time you visit.

Solway House is just 2 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting there and exploring the area. The main access routes are the I-87 S, NJ-17 S and Taconic State Pkwy.
We strongly recommend a 4x4 or a car with four-wheel drive, especially in winter, to handle snow and gravel roads.
