Welcome to Northrup House, a beautifully appointed 3-bedroom, 4-bath home in Sharon, Connecticut, set among lush gardens, mature trees, and a sprawling lawn in the rolling Litchfield Hills. Comfortably sleeping 6, it’s an easy getaway for families and friends looking to slow down and enjoy the Northwest Corner in every season.

As you step inside, the main floor opens to a true chef’s kitchen, stocked with everything you could need to cook a holiday feast or a simple weekend breakfast. Gather around the kitchen table for morning coffee, or host a proper dinner in the formal dining room. When the evening cools, settle into the cozy living room, where the Stuv fireplace sets the mood for long conversations and quiet nights in. A powder room on the main floor adds convenience for guests.

Off the kitchen, a fully screened breezeway porch connects to the garage and quickly becomes everyone’s favorite spot for bug-free summer evenings, games of cards, and fresh mountain air. From the porch, step out to the gravel patio, where you’ll find a grill, a fire pit, and Adirondack chairs ready for cookouts, s’mores, and stargazing. Beyond the patio, the large lawn invites lawn games and room to roam, with beautiful gardens and towering trees all around.

Upstairs, you’ll find all three bedrooms. The primary suite offers a queen bed and a private ensuite full bathroom. The first guest bedroom has a queen bed, and the second guest bedroom has two twin beds, perfect for kids or friends. A full hall bathroom serves both guest rooms.

Downstairs, the fully finished basement is built for fun. With a TV, plenty of games, and books, it’s the go-to spot for movie nights and rainy afternoons, with its own powder room for added convenience.

Whether you’re here for fall foliage, ski weekends at Mohawk Mountain, summer days on the lake, or a quiet escape to the country, Northrup House is ready to welcome you home. We can’t wait to host you.

The area

Sharon sits in Connecticut’s Northwest Corner, a classic New England town with a historic green, a clock tower, and the summer stage of the Sharon Playhouse. Nature lovers can walk the trails at the Sharon Audubon Center, hike a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, or swim and paddle at Mudge Pond and Lake Wononscopomuc in nearby Lakeville. Racing fans head to Lime Rock Park, while the Housatonic River offers fly fishing, kayaking, and the iconic West Cornwall Covered Bridge. Across the state line, Millerton is lined with antique shops, the Harney & Sons tasting room, and cafes, and Salisbury and Kent offer farm-to-table dining, bookstores, and galleries. Kent Falls State Park is a favorite for an afternoon picnic. In winter, ski Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall or Catamount on the NY and MA border, then come home to the fire. From fall foliage drives to summer days on the lake, the Northwest Corner rewards guests in every season.

Northrup House is about 2 hours from New York City and guests should plan to travel around by car as it is a rural area with limited public transportation. The main routes to access the town are I-22N to I-7N.

In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.
