2BR Basement Unit in Durand - Walk to GO — Guest Reviews

Location was great but think of the unit as more of an old house basement. I feel like the stay wasn’t a true representation of the unit. The main bed looked like it will break if 2 people slept on it but I mainly spent my time on the couch. Parking was great and so close to my unit but I think it’s the style in Canada to park in back and walk to the front which seemed a little inconvenient in the snow but not a deal breaker. Overall, good value and it provided value accommodation for my event.

Positive: This property was definitely value for your money. It was clean and the access into the building was very easy with the door codes. The host also had a very quick response time! Negative: The latch on the front door is broken and needs to be replaced. There was cigarette smoke smells coming into the apartment one of the evenings (we suspected that people may have been smoking in the lobby area).

Really good price for the apartment, just parking isnt ideal. 5 Star.

Positive: me and my girlfriend love the place it is clean and quiet the personel is friendly they accomodate me and my girlfriend.... Negative: Nothing i can say....

Great spot! We stayed for a week because of my wife’s school, location was super convenient, nice neighbourhood, lots of good shops and restaurants close by. Recommend!

Homeless people were just sitting everywhere in the back smoking crack pipes as I had to walk by with my daughter. I go out again and they’re looking at my car as if they were going to break into it. Couldn’t stay didn’t even feel safe. Homeless persons clothes in the window area outside and doesn’t look like the pictures

Positive: Easy to check in and to check out. Was clean and great space for a family.

We were surprised when we arrived that the apartment was located in the basement and was not the same as the photos in the ad. The basement apartment that we were in was musty and had a faint smell of urine that was being masked by plug-in air fresheners. The beds were not comfortable and there was only one bedroom. The other two beds are in the living area. The place was clean and very easy to find, walkable and close to lots of great restaurants. The host was polite and we had no other issues. Just unfortunate that the apartment we were in was not the one I thought we were booking. It would be an okay option if the price for this particular apt was cheaper.

Great clean place to stay and walkable to most everything downtown Hamilton. Great shops and restaurants within minutes of the residence with a very responsive host. Would definitely reccomend.

Amazing hosts and very beautiful unit

Fantastic place to stay. Very bright and welcoming. Lots of space. Fully equipped kitchen, good bedding and a convenient location. This place checked all the boxes for our trip. I had a question regarding parking, the host was very helpful and responded right away. Overall I highly recommend this host and property, great experience.

I booked this apartment for my husband, his mother and his nephew. While I didn’t personally stay there, I was in contact with the hosts throughout the stay. They were absolutely lovely to communicate with — very kind, polite, helpful and incredibly quick to respond to all of our questions. We really appreciated how attentive and accommodating they were. It was a pleasure dealing with such nice and welcoming hosts. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality!

Pros and cons. Everything was as described except there's no ac. Theres a floor unit...which is fine but the bedroom is far down the hall so it does get hot and theres a small fan. More importantly...at no fault to the host its worth noting the community in the area. LOTS of unfocused ppl hanging out behind the unit and out front. An excessive amount of unfortunate ppl strung out and passed out on the side walk in broad day light. It was jarring for my 7 year old. The area is clearly developing with cute shops and restaurants. Locke street was quaint and nearby. But going for a walk in this neighborhood was sketchy. Some are walking around your vehicle looking for anything. Other than the coffee being from Walmart the host assistant responded quickly and everything was very clean.

The place was in a very convenient location, really close to a lot of restaurants and cafes. We really enjoyed our stay, it was very clean and quiet. Thank you!

Dont have enough amazing things to say! Soul & Jackson were the utmost amazing when it came to any little things that needed attention! The unit itself was so perfect, nestled in a good spot to walk, catch the bus or train! Endless good things to say about our stay and will definitely be back!

The space & location were what we needed.. What we were most impressed with was the responsiveness of the hosts! They made us feel very welcome.

Very hospitable host and very promt and proactive in communication. Overall, our stay went well as the location is very central to many things and downtown.

Real good stay

Soul and Jackson were great hosts and we had a great time in their Airbnb. They were responsive and easy to communicate with. The location was excellent and the AC was perfect. The unit was easy to get in and out of.

Lovely place with a little bit of noise from the alley, but that's not the hosts fault.

Clean basement unit that is quite spacious. The main bedroom was large with a desk. The second one was very small but cosy. The kitchen and bathroom were functional but small. The James St S area has some interesting restaurants. The availability of parking (at extra cost) was a plus.

We had a wonderful stay. The living room was especially spacious and very comfortable, which made it easy to relax. The place was clean, well organized, and had everything we needed. Communication was smooth and check in was simple, I would happily stay here again!

Great place in downtown Hamilton! A bit more lived in than the photos apparently but it’s clean and a great option for a night (or two) out in the hammer!

Had a short but great stay!! The neighborhood was perfect distance the to venue we were attending. A pizza place and store across the street as well as other restaurants. The air bnb was beautiful and the beds were very comfy. Would definitely book again.

Our stay at Soul and Jackson’s place was very nice. Although there was some confusion with photos matching up and issues with the chilly temperature, they were very responsive and wanted to make sure they solved the problems! Parking is hard to find so just keep that in mind as well. Overall good hosting, Thank you!

Overall it was an okay stay. The parking didn't have any clear instructions, and it took 30 minutes of communication in order for us to figure out where exactly we could park. since we stayed in the winter, half of the parking lot was filled with ice, and it was difficult to get in and out. Inside was decent, you could tell that they cleaned. However, there were a few things that were left behind from previous residents that we still noticed. It smelled like cigarettes and weed when we got there. Unfortunately, I am not sure if that will be a common experience, however, it also was in the whole building. Since we stayed in the winter, it was very cold outside, and it was unfortunately very cold in the smaller bedroom. Everything else stay decently warm and they did provide a warmer, however, one of the rooms you could not stay in because of how cold it got at night. Overall, we feel like this would be a good place to stay during the summer, but not the winter.

We were able to find the property easily and checking in was simple. We were a bit chilly the first night so when I messaged the host they responded right away with a solution. Spacious and very clean property.

it's always a pleasure to be welcomed by Soul and Jackson. They are great host, responsive, friendly, and will to help and work with guest with whatever their needs are. The apartment was great, match the description and pictures. Big living room, nice bedroom and everything you need to feel at home. The location is right Downtown and easily accessible to get around on foot to many different restaurants, stores and anything else you would need for your stay. Can't recommend enough and look forward to staying here again

Positive: if there is 120% rate in that place i can gave that 120% it was nice clean and very convinient place.....i am planning to go back there if my sched.of travel and that place is vacant i will get that again.....id loved to stay,,, Negative: nothing...... all in the property is nice clean and.

✔️…Overall host was very responsive ❌…the apartment was not that clean, especially the main bedroom (yes bed linen was washed but it had transparent permanent stains on it), and the shower cubicle corners were not cleaned at all, kuddos to the glass shower door though it was wiped clean. The couch had stuffed in scrunched paper perhaps there wasn’t proper vacuuming of the couch done. Also the lights in the other side of living room were faulty it kept switching on and off I feel the cleaning department just touched on the surface and no deep cleaning was done ❌..Lack of proper sunlight, yes I booked knowing its a basement but the only windows to the outside had outside shrubs blocking them, so no proper air could get in. ❌…What was shown in the pictures is not really what’s on the ground.

Conveniently located, well-equipped basement gest suite. I particularly appreciated the easy self check-in and access to the laundry facilities!

We had a great stay at Soul and Jackson’s! The place was sparkling clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for our stay. The hosts were extremely proactive and organized. Great bars and restaurants within walking distance as well. The unit looked exactly as listed, and had every amenity we could ever need. Unfortunate side note: while parked in the lot behind the unit, my car window was smashed in and a few items were stolen on our last night. Please be aware of this if you choose to reserve a parking spot as I did!

Great place, the last night the power went out in the am , my phone didn’t charge couldn’t check into my flight couldn’t order a taxi. Maybe a backup generator she be on the property, since it’s an airbnb. Other than that the place was great.

We stayed here while writing exams at the Hamilton Convention Centre and it was perfect. The location was convenient, close to a grocery store, and the place was comfortable. Soul and Jackson were lovely hosts and made our stay easy and stress-free.

We had a good stay in the apartment, although it was different from the photos in the listing. The space was clean and comfortable and had a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. There wasn't anything we didn't Soul and Jackson were very quick to respond to any questions we had and they provided very clear instructions for check-in and check-out. There were plenty of amenities in the area: a grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, gas station in the vicinity. The unit is also very close to the hospital, which was essential to us. The street and neighbouring streets have free, 3-hour parking and you can park overnight (6pm-8am) for free as well which made parking easy enough. Thanks, Soul and Jackson!
