It was great!

Nice place in a very historic and walkable area. Found it well lit at night. Felt safe to roam about. Very nice coffee shop and deli in the area. Beautiful parks and places to sit outside and have a meal. As described in pictures. The Ind Hall Bell does sound quite frequently but I did not have any issues with it. Team was responsive when contacted with questions/concerns. Would book this location or others again.

Although my stay had a bit of a rocky start, it turned out to be a fantastic experience. When I arrived, the previous occupants were still in the space, so I couldn't check in immediately. It took about an hour to get in touch with the host and have them come by to assess the situation, but they handled it wonderfully. They relocated me to another property, The Ledger, and even paid for my Uber to get there. The new location was much nicer, and they also gave me a partial refund and a room upgrade for the trouble. Besides that first hour, the rest of my stay was excellent. The host really went above and beyond to make things right, and I would definitely stay here again!

Perfect location for exploring the historical sites in the area. Would recommend this place to anyone. Ear plugs were provided due to the clock tower at Independence Hall and general noise of the area, but we used the white noise machine and that was enough for us.

Very clean and smelled great inside; full kitchen and laundry in the unit, which were all fantastic. The location couldn't be better, right across the street from Independence Hall and all the museums. You can walk along beautiful tree lined streets to the city squares (parks) and historic sites. But be aware that Independence Hall has a massive clock that strikes every hour, including all night, plus the residence faces a very busy street and Philadelphians love their car horns.

We enjoyed our stay here! A beaufitul view as the suite is directly across from Independence Hall. The suite was well stocked with items in the ktichen and bathroom. Comfortable seating and bed. Nice linens. Easy to walk to many historical sites in Independence Park area. Good restaurants close and friendly people helping at the Ledger front desk. We would love to stay here again sometime.

Enjoyed my stay at Jean-Emmanuel’s! The apartment and decor is very nice and spacious. Everything I needed at the apartment was there and well attended to. Only downside is there’s a clock tower right next door that goes off at every hour including through the night to be aware of and that a noise machine can’t power through

I had a wonderful stay at Jean Emmanuel’s Airbnb. The space was beautiful, spotless, and exactly as described. Communication was excellent So Suite was responsive, helpful, and made the entire experience seamless. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

I stayed here for 2 weeks. The location was convenient and the apartment was spacious. I would say it would benefit from a deep clean and a re-evaluation of the kitchen tools (I had to ask for basic elements like a baking sheet and oven mitts). Most of all, I wished there was an opaque shade in the bedroom; the light more so than the noise made it difficult to sleep.

Fantastic space, great amenities and host!

Perfect location. We were on town for a wedding and had time to explore the town. Everything we wanted to see was in walking distance.

The condo was exactly as described. Very clean and modern with a well stocked kitchen. The bottles of water, pretzels, and filtered water in fridge were nice details. The location was great, directly across from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Parking was great with the valet and made getting around easy. The building is also super cool and historic. Great experience and highly recommend this for your stay in Philly.

Perfect place

John’s place was exactly as advertised. It was spacious and just in the middle of all the tourist attractions. Lastly, there are great coffee shops nearby for morning coffee. We used the kitchen for a couple of meals and it was very well equipped.

An excellent spacious apartment that had everything you could want. It's super close to the Libery Bell and the old City. With that comes the hourly chimes but John provided everything for a good night's sleep.

I really liked the space itself and aspects of the set-up were very nice for an AirBnB. I loved the neighborhood and the building, and the AirBnB was comfortable. The AirBnB is run by a management company and they were very insistent on a very bureaucratic, unnecessary check in procedure. Whenever I would communicate with them, I felt inundated with rules and provisions. The human touch is missing for sure. Also there's a bell across the street that rings hourly at all times, and the street itself is loud. They provide earplugs and a white noise machine, which I appreciate and was helpful but I wish that had been explicitly named beforehand.

The place is just as described. The kitchen was equipped with everything that you need. If you are a light sleeper don't book this place. Read the other reviews regarding the bell. The only thing that I would HIGHLY recommend is that you bring a sleeping mask because there is lots of sunlight even with the shades down. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great apartment in amazing location.

John's place was stylish, clean, and comfortable. It's located directly across from Independence Hall which is awesome if you're intentionally or unintentionally looking for some touristy history as part of your stay. The only concern for some should be the location directly across from the bell tower. It rings every hour throughout the night. If you're a light sleeper or not used to city noise, it's going to keep you awake. I loved my stay and I would stay here again.

Our stay was among the best we have experienced in years of using Airbnb. The apartment was very well located, easy to reach, comfortable and very well equipped. John provided great instructions and responded quickly and in detail to our queries. The place is located near many coffee places (check out Madis just next door: excellent brew) and restaurants, as well as two very attractive parks and any number of sites, including the Athenaeum. We recommend the place without reservation.

The room is beautiful and so is the view. The location is ideal for exploring the history, museums, restaurants, and other attractions in Old City. Several bus lines pick up and drop off at the corner and within a block or two, and the subway access at 5th & Market is less than two blocks away. The room itself was generally clean, but there were dust bunnies in the area below the TV, and a previous guest's used contact lenses (blue) were lying on one of the nightstands. The chiming of the Independence Hall clock each hour is fairly loud and might bother some guests who are light sleepers, but it didn't bother me at all. In fact, I enjoyed feeling that audio connection with history. The bathtub needs grab bars. The tub bottom is smooth and slippery, without any texture, and some movement within the tub is needed to access the body wash and shampoo on a shelf at the opposite end from the shower controls. More than one hand towel should be supplied initially.

Great place to stay for seeing historic Philadelphia, walkable to everything we desired to see. Valet parking made out experience so much simpler. Apartment was exactly the one pictured, very nice and what we expected, everything worked & was ready for us, very simple check-in & out.

Amazing all around. Building, the room, the view were all fantastic. Very spacious and comfortable. Full kitchen was nice to have. They are not joking about the city noise, and the independence hall bell does ding every hour during the day and into part of the night. It’s not too loud of outside noise that you can’t function but this is not the place for a light sleeper. Overall a really lovely stay and we would definitely stay here if we come back to the city.

This place lived up to our expectations—the location was fantastic, building amenities were spot on (excellent gym!), the kitchen was well stocked of you like to cook, it was easy to get our car in and out, and the pictures are a good representation of the place. Having a washer and dryer was super handy too.

My main complaint was that the listing is deceptive. It says that there is a queen bed but it’s a double. There was no mention of pet fees however, once I booked they informed me that there is a pet fee of $25/night + tax. The listing says that valet parking is $35 it was $40 + tax so it came out to $46.20. The apartment was dirty, dust bunnies in the corners and the silverware wasn’t clean so we had to wash it before using. They gave us Nespresso pods that expired in 3/2024 so we didn’t use them; and there were no extra blankets, the only linens available were on the bed, two sheets and one comforter. I reached out to the host on two separate occasions. First to get help with the WiFi and second to request extra paper towels. Both times they said they would get back to me shortly with a solution but never did. I had to figure out the WiFi by myself, and they left us extra toilet paper instead. Last there is a bell across the street that rings every hour making it hard to fall asleep.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful, largely thanks to our amazing host! From the moment we booked, communication was excellent. John was incredibly responsive to all my questions and requests, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. Beyond that, he was so friendly and helpful. The place itself was also fantastic - clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend staying at this property. John is an exceptional host!

Beautiful apartment and I felt safe as a solo traveler. Area is super walkable, and you don’t need a car. Ubers came fast. Kitchen was stocked with everything you need, but there is a Wawa a few feet away. Some have complained about the clock tower, but it never woke me up. I appreciated the ear plugs either way. The view is incredible and I appreciated it as a former Philadelphian. I would definitely book here again!

John’s place is a fantastic Airbnb. It is big, bright, well furnished (as shown in photos), well equipped with new appliances and kitchen and bathroom fixtures. Super well equipped for cooking (although I did not on this trip). Really perfect. I was worried before I stayed there about the church bell noise mentioned in some other reviews and i didn’t find it to be all that loud or at all bothersome. I didn’t use the earplugs or the white noice machine and I slept great. Just not an issue at all for me. I’d stay here again anytime I need a place in Philly.

The place is amazing! The location is across the street from Independence Hall and the clock tower is visible from the living room and bedroom windows! We loved staying here and will recommend the unit to our friends.

We had the best time in Philly. This location was prime. It was close walking distance to nearly everything: historic sights, terminal market, restaurants, drinks, coffee, etc. We felt extremely safe in the area and the cleanliness was pristine as promised. Also the private, valet, underground parking garage was essential. HUGE plus for me and difficult to find elsewhere. Parking was easier than ever. I never had a single worry about my car. Yes, we heard the bell toll, however simply playing some white noise drowns it out successfully. We used our own speaker, but this host provides diffusers, earplugs, anything you need, as well!! We slept soundly and comfortably. And did I mention the sunlight and view? Just wow. So beautiful with the sun in the morning rising with the historic buildings. Front desk was friendly and check in was smooth. The host sent timely updates upon checking in and out. Would highly recommend this for your stay in Philly. Five stars!!!

We had an amazing stay! My wife and I could not have wished for a more perfect location. The area was fantastic and the food options were great. Nothing will ever be able to top waking up with a view of Independence Hall!

Wonderful place in the historic district with perfect views of independence Hall. One block away from the Liberty Bell one block away from Washington Square Park, which was absolutely beautiful. the place was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well stocked. The building was very secure 24 seven and easy to get in and out of.

This place is in a great location across from Liberty bell. Perfect for visiting old city. The place was SO cute inside. I love the Sonos speakers as well. Had many amenities. The host was so responsive and kind. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the noise. I am here for work and woke up every hour to church bells. And the noise outside was so clear. I understand the building is old and the windows do nothing to cancel out the noise. I had ear plugs but it did not matter, I was super bummed because I love the place otherwise. The price is high but the location is perfect for visiting and the inside is pretty amazing so understand why. Downstairs host was also super kind and friendly.

We had an amazing stay at John’s in Philly. The place was impeccably maintained with an extremely well stocked kitchen and bathroom. The location was perfect. We walked to the majority of sights, and the ones that were further out, we were able to catch the Philly Phlash which is specifically for visitors traveling the downtown loop. It was $5/person for the entire day and quickly got us to The Philadelphia Museum of Art/Rocky steps and statue, as well as the other surrounding sights on that end. We had an issue with the internet which was responded to immediately. Would 1000% recommend to anyone visiting Philly!

This apartment across from Independence Hall was lovely. The apartment itself was spotless. Beautiful accent lighting and soft rock from several speaker in the apartment. Crisp white bathroom with all bath amenities and a wonderful rain shower with good water temperature and pressure. I found the bed to be comfortable. I loved the view overlooking Independence Hall and steps from the Liberty Bell. I felt safe with the desk attendant present 24 hours a day. Location was terrific - short drive to anywhere in the city. Short walk to Rittenhouse, city hall, Reading Terminal. The only issue lowering my review was that the Independence Hall bell tower rang hourly 24 hours a day and could be heard quite loudly in the bedroom over night. This woke me several hours throughout each nights stay and I am not a light sleeper. Although I would love to stay in this beautiful apartment again - I do not think I would be able to.

Great location especially since it was our first time visiting. We explored all the sites we were interested in. We could walk to almost everything. We appreciated the ice maker and water dispenser. The shower was fantastic. The reception team members at the desk in the lobby were all very helpful and friendly.

For me, hearing the bell announce the hour was so so special and really made me feel all the more connected to the birth of our Nation! I loved lifting the curtains and seeing Independence Hall each morning. As far as location within the city, this spot cannot be beat. 10/10 would recommend! The space was clean, loved having access to an icemaker/Brita for water bottle refills and access to washer and dryer was a huge plus. Everyone we saw in the halls and at the front desk was so friendly.

If you are lucky enough to grab a stay here - DO IT! John has a beautifully decorated and spotless apartment overlooking Independence Hall so you could not ask for a better location. This is without a doubt the most well stocked place we have ever stayed - you will want for nothing. Not to mention an amazing sound system with a wonderful selection of music to listen to as you enjoy the magnificent view. When we struggled with the TV, John was available and helpful immediately. Checkout and check-in were a breeze. And the building itself is gorgeous. You can walk to all the National Park sites and wonderful restaurants are nearby or a nice walk away. We cannot say enough nice things about how wonderful John's place is.

Great stay at this super clean, upscale condo in the heart of Independence Hall. The host is always available and easy to communicate with. The check-in and check-out processes are seamless. The amenities are 5-star. The condo feels open and spacious. Enjoyed my stay tremendously.

The location near Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell was perfect. There were great restaurants within a block or two. The apartment was beautiful, full of great light. The kitchen has clean lines and great appliances, and the bathroom was spa-like. The fitness facility had great cardio and weight training equipment. The only drawback was how loud the street was at night, which is life in the city. I also wish I had brought a sleeping mask, since there was so much ambient light in the bedroom.

The suite is very well located, elegant, tastefully decorated and the hosts heve been thinking about the guests comfort down to the most minute details. This apartment was great! Safe area with lots of walkable bars and restaurants. I was really late arriving due to a flight delay and they communicated quickly and made sure that I could check in at midnight. Pristine apartment with lots of space, well stocked and tastefully decorated. I especially liked the LED background lighting and the large shower & bathtub with both a rain head and a hand held detachable shower wand. Would definitely recommend it!

We had a truly fantastic stay in this lovely apartment. So much so that when we move to Philly later in the year we would love to live right there! Ideal location to explore all that Philadelphia has to offer. As a Philly native returning for a visit, John's place is ideal for site-seeing and exploration. Bright open space with a fantastic view of Independance Mall. While I am accustomed to city noise, the clock does ring throughout the night and early morning construction in the park was a bit disruptive for sleeping in. Overall, this was an ideal location and beautiful decorated place for a beautiful getaway.

This apartment has the BEST view of Independence Hall in probably all of Philly. We were blown away. He also had a fully stocked kitchen which made cooking easy and fun. We would definitely stay there again!

I had a fantastic airbnb experience. I spent approximately a week in this gorgeous apartment, located in a beautiful section of Philly. near Independence Hall. You can walk (or run) to many excellent restaurants and coffee shops. The apartment ambiance is welcoming, beautiful and modern. It has an open architecture with lots of light and comfortable, unique furniture. I spent much of my time working remotely and used the big center table as a desk. This worked extremely well and the chairs were comfortable. John was extremely responsive and helpful and check in was easy.. My experience was even better than I imagined and I would be more than delighted to return.

The apartment is walking distance to some great restaurants and historic sites. It is spacious and the view from the large windows is conducive for being “home all day” without feeling stuck inside, which is nice for working remotely. An added benefit is access to the lounge and luggage storage after checkout since our travel plans were in the evening. We have already recommended this place to friends and family!

This is a beautiful Airbnb, short 10 min walk to reading terminal market. Host was very responsive. Bed was super comfortable. Great stay!

This place was AH-MAZING! We walked in and were amazed. It was clean and very uncluttered. The bedroom was relaxing with ambient lighting and very romantic. We went for our mini-honeymoon for 2 nights, so this was perfect! We walked all over the city, Wawa was in the same building just around the corner. Penn's Landing was incredibly close and we walked there too. The hourly bells from Independence Hall were beautiful. The sunrise views from the windows was breathtaking to wake up to. And the front desk staff and 24hour valet service were icing on the cake! We would definitely stay again!!

John’s place is centrally located (and Philly is very walkable) so it was the perfect place to stay for a few days. The apartment was spotless and beautifully furnished, with high ceilings and big windows that look out onto Independence Hall. The bell does go off every hour and can be loud at night — that made it a little difficult to get a sound night sleep. Overall, though, the apartment is beautiful and filled with natural light and we would definitely stay again.

This was the first mini trip away from home with our infant. Everything was exactly as described and we felt super comfortable staying here. John was incredibly responsive and the people at the front desk were also friendly and helpful. Location is walkable and convenient. We would stay here again.

We loved this property at the Ledger. Wonderful view of Independence Hall and walkable to so much in Philly! The place has lots of natural light, great open layout, nice furnishings and beautiful design elements, and a Sonos system. The temp inside was a bit on the cool side even with adjusting the thermostat - not sure if it is from drafty windows or what. All in all, we loved the place and it is on our list for next trip to Philadelphia

John's place is so much better than the photos, the place is so tastefully decorated and very elegant. The furnitures and fixtures are topnotch. The location is in the center of the most historical places in Philadelphia that are all within walking distance. There are restaurants and grocery literally downstairs. I love the place so much that I was able to tolerate the neighboring bell that tolls every hour, even after midnight. I also love the building's ambience and character; and the courteous and helpful front desk staff. I highly recommend John's place, it is an experience in itself.

The place was just like the pictures. The view was better than pictured. You have a view of the Independence Hall! Everything was very new. My stay was super comfortable!
