This was such a treat. My whole household enjoyed the hot tub, fish pond, and spacious kitchen especially. The house has a very well equipped kitchen when it comes to cutlery and cookware. We all slept really well -- it is so quiet between floors, even when some of us went to bed earlier than others. We also did not find the Wifi to be spotty at all -- we were able to stream music and do online work fairly easily, even with 2 or 3 people on laptops at a time.
My advice for guests: Listen to the warning about 4 wheel/all-wheel drive, for sure, and check the house number carefully to avoid disturbing any neighbors when locating the house. You might also consider bringing extra paper towels/toilet paper, since it can feel like a bit of a slog getting into town at night (plus, you won't want to leave!!! It is too cozy!)
When they say this house will accommodate 16, they are not kidding! There is a LOT of room, a bunch of couches and chairs, etc. and 4 full bathrooms! We could easily seat our group around the main dining table to all eat together, or hang out on any of the porches, or down in the adirondack chairs by the pond. None of us tried the sauna, but the hot tub was pronounced wonderful, and there is definitely plenty of hot water with good pressure.
However, do realize that when it says you need 4WD, that's not a joke either. Black Bear Road is tough. I drive a Toyota sedan, and I travel all over the mountains and up into areas like this to do bachelorette parties, and normally, my Toyota can go places some SUVs won't. It struggled a wee bit with the gravel on Black Bear. Once I was parked in the lower drive instead of the upper, I didn't have any additional problems.
The woods are beautiful all around and with the pond, and the "waterfall" (run-off), it was so peaceful and secluded.
We enjoyed the house. It has a lot of space and plenty of room. It was peaceful and quiet. Had everything we needed.
Great place with amazing views!
Big, beautiful home great for making memories with families and friends. We had four couples and also hosted 2 other families. Everyone had their own privacy. The sauna and hot tub were a nice bonus!
Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven with us! We had such a wonderful week making memories together—fishing, hiking, exploring, and enjoying the wildlife. The house was clean, the property was beautiful and the host was very responsive!
Loved it! Perhaps the best thing about this place was the ponds. Our kids have never fished that much. Would 100% recommend for families wanting to get a little away and outdoors without having to travel too far.
This was an amazing place to stay for our group! Kelly was very proactive in responding if we needed anything and was very clear on the place we were staying in! The cabin was also very beautiful and is great place for a getaway!
This place was amazing! We had a group of friends stay with 2 kiddos and an infant and there was space for everyone! Kelly was very kind, checked in every so often, and available if needed. We would definitely come back!
Location was wonderful, home was comfortable and host was responsive.
Great property!
We used this location as a bridal party house for a wedding that was 30 minutes away. There was plenty of room on the property for the ladies to have their Quiet Times, gather in small planning groups, and prepping for the wedding events. There are 2 driveways that can lead into the 2 entrances with one being a bit steeper than the other. The entrance to the lower level was easy to get to and even our flower deliverer had no problem getting to it. The surroundings were peaceful and everyone slept well. We were very grateful to have this location as a staging point for our big event.
Was exactly as expected. The house was great for our large family with 6 adults and 7 children. Would stay again if in the area. The driveway was the hardest part to navigate, but we didn't have 4 wheel drive as recommended by the host. Thanks for a great weekend trip.
This place exceeded expectations in every way. Everyone wished we could have stayed longer.
The setting is unreal. Tucked away in the mountains with a private pond. I loved how you could hear the surrounding streams anytime you were outside.
We spent most of our time fishing in the ponds (we brought our own rods), hiking the local trails, s’mores by the fire pit, not to mention just relaxing/eating out on the huge deck overlooking the pond and streams.
The house itself is perfect for a larger group. Plenty of bedrooms, multiple living areas, and enough space for everyone to spread out without feeling crowded.
It’s been updated recently, we noticed some things that weren’t in the listing. For example there is a new fireplace, a new TV setup, and a retro Pac Man arcade game that everyone loved.
The hot tub and barrel sauna were amazing. Super relaxing in the morning/night.
The kitchen and house were fully stocked with everything we needed.
We will absolutely come back again.
I wish I could share pictures to show how wonderful our girls weekend trip was at this cabin because the photos on the listing do not do this place justice! There have obviously been lots of upgrades on the furniture, bedding, and overall aesthetic since the listing photos were taken. The cabin had everything we needed and more for a large group of friends to feel comfortable with plenty of space to spread out and get ready for a night out in Asheville. We felt safe and very at home here - we didn't want to leave! Everyone was commenting on how comfortable their beds were including the pillows and linens. We used the sauna every morning and even did "cold plunges" in the waterfall! At night the hot tub was a hit. We even had a professional chef come cook a beautiful dinner and she loved how well stocked the kitchen was compared to other Airbnbs she's cooked in. We truly had an unforgettable weekend celebrating our bride-to-be!
This was a great place to stay!! Towels were set out on every bed (and they were large and high quality) as well as towels for the hot tub! There was everything we needed for cooking in the kitchen, and the hot tub was great!! Whenever I reached out with a question, I got a quick response. When I asked for a later checkout time, they worked to accommodate. I highly recommend!!
Our Host Kelly was amazing and we enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and clean.
Great spot for a family weekend! Kelly did a wonderful job communicating with us and made our trip a memorable one.
Beautiful house nestled in the mountains! I took my Girl Scout troop for a Girl’s Weekend and they loved the sauna, hot tub, and game room. There were 15 of us in all and plenty of room to spread out. We took advantage of the fire pit by the pond and had celebratory s’mores! We agreed that this house was the best house we’ve stayed at!
The cabin was beautiful and spacious. We loved the hot tub and the ping pong table. Couch was spacious and extremely comfortable. Perfect for gathering and hanging out together after full days of skiiing/exploring area shops! There were plenty of linens and blankets, which was wonderful. You do need an all wheel drive vehicle to access the upper driveway, but this was clearly stated in the description of the home, so no complaints there! Our only small issue was that the beds felt quite hard so we didn’t rest as well as we would have liked. But otherwise we absolutely loved our stay!
Everything was great and Kelly was a great host.
WARNING. I would have given this property 4 stars, the beds brought it down from 5. However, I am going to have to give it a 2. I admit that I did not read all the way to the bottom, and therefor did not see “4WD is required during winter months/snowy conditions”, and did not have it brought to my attention until I was past the cancel date. I would have canceled, but as it was, my son in law and both rented 4WD vehicles. 456 extra for me, I don’t know what he paid. As it turned out we did need them to get the 200 yards to the house. There was a heavy snow storm in TN and NC 2 days prior to our arrival. A local businessman told me that kind of storm is a once in 5 year event. No attempt was made to clear the drive in the week that we were there.
Our stay at this property was extremely disappointing. We arrived on Thursday to discover that there was no running water, which is a basic necessity and an essential expectation when renting a home. We reached out to the host immediately, but there was no sense of urgency to resolve the issue. Despite multiple messages, the problem persisted for two full days.
We did not have running water until 6pm on Saturday, meaning we had water for only about 25% of our stay. To make matters worse, the issue was ultimately resolved only because my husband walked to another property and turned on the breaker himself—something the host should have managed promptly.
After many back-and-forth conversations, we received only a 50% refund, even though we went most of the stay without a basic utility that should be guaranteed.
I do not recommend this property based on our experience. At the very least, guests deserve functioning water and prompt support when so
Everything was good
Good communication
Fast response
Our family and friends had a wonderful stay at Kelly’s awesome rental. The house had everything we needed (and more), for our large group. We enjoyed the picturesque surroundings, we cooked delicious meals in the well appointed kitchen, spent lots of time in the sauna, and raced down snowy hills at Zip and Slip tubing park. There is plenty to do for kids of all ages, such as ping pong, board games, puzzles, and a retro arcade game. We brought in the new year with a bon fire, marshmallows and a sing-along by the lake. It was truly on of the best trips, and we are grateful for the hospitality that made it all happen. The fond memories that were made will keep us coming back year after year! Thank you, Kelly!
Amazing place close to our ski resort! Book it
Kelly offered a great and comfortable cabin. It was very well stocked with toilet papers, towels, and soap. These are the three main items that are most important to me during my stay. She was very responsive with all my inquiries. The hot tub and Sauna was a plus. Enjoyed all the amenities she had to offer. Would definitely love to come back for a future stay.
This log home is great for multiple families and pets. The neighborhood is peaceful and pretty. The space configuration is great for different groups as you can easily separate families on the first and second floors. We loved the the ping pong table, tv rooms, fireplace, and the beautiful large wood beams and decks. Plenty of parking. Great hiking nearby.
The exterior decks are well maintained and great for hanging out and viewing the pond, woods and stream.
The kitchen and large dining room are great for big groups. Kitchen has coffee, spices oils and condiments. Comfortable couches.
The drive up the hill is not too steep; there was no snow when we were there so it may be tricky without four-wheel-drive in the winter.
Cons: Master BR needs new carpet and deodorizing.
Minor nits: Some furniture and fixtures are older and rustic but that fits this type of property and rustic feel.
Kitchen could use new pans, perhaps some more place settings for large groups.
Never had a place exceed expectations so much- hot tub clean and perfect, sauna lovely, house beautiful, linens wonderful, kitchen stocked, unique great home! Thank you so much!
Excellent communication with the host. The house was well-equipped and perfectly located for a large family weekend! It comfortably accommodated 9 adults and 8 children without any issues
Kelly’s cabin was absolutely adorable. She was extremely responsive and proactive with helping some concerns as they arrived. She was friendly and professional. The beds were comfortable for the queen and king and double rooms. The property was absolutely adorable with the pond view and amenities such as the hot tub and I really enjoyed the sauna. There were unexpected maintenance issues that came up with the sink her team was on it the same day. The parking was steep for the main entrance however, it was nice that there was a back entrance with flat ground parking, which was much easier with our large SUVs. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked with equipment. The pantry made it so easy for cooking for a group of 12 women for the week. There were plenty of spots in the house to cozy up and enjoy a good book or a conversation on our downtime with the group. It was very peaceful with beautiful views of thetrees. What a great way to spend time in the hot tub. Would love to comeback.
Our family had a wonderful time together this past weekend. I think everyone really enjoyed their stay. We had a range of 8 months to 89 years in our group, and it was special to have everyone together in this lovely location. There were some concerns that I have already shared with the agent, but overall, it was a great experience for everyone.
Wonderful stay! Kelley was very good and gave us all the directions we needed. The house is clean, quiet, and in a great location — perfect for hiking and exploring nature. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!
Our family had a wonderful time. Fishing was a big hit for our family. If you like to fish, this is the place to visit. It’s so peaceful, secluded and beautiful scenery.
We did have a little issues that was addressed to Kelly and she went above and beyond to meet our needs. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. On the chilly nights we sat by the fire and then came inside to play board games (plenty to choose from) Would definitely recommend, especially if you have a big family looking for a relaxing getaway.
