Fab time Positive: Excellent choice and food was lovely Negative: Nothing
Usual good stay at Saltburn House
Positive: The size of the rooms
Old fashioned seaside hotel Positive: Big old fashioned seaside hotel overlooking the water a short walk from the town centre. We were checked in by a friendly and helpful lady in the bar. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the whole hotel would benefit from modernisation.
Great Saltburn stay Positive: Lovely clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was good and staff were polite and helpful. Negative: Not great for parking. We had to park next street along as hotel has very small car park with limited spaces. Not great when you require disabled parking.
excellent Positive: great experiance
Good value for money Positive: Reasonable price Friendly and helpful staff Great breakfast Negative: On site parking is not very big or easy to access
A good option for a couple of nights by the sea Positive: Comfy firm beds, a hot shower and a tasty breakfast. Friendly staff who accommodated our dietary requirements well (vegan and vegetarian). Great location, just a few minutes from the beach. Negative: Quite dated and basic but it did the job. No non-dairy milk available. The bathroom had nowhere to put your washbag etc and the toilet flush was very loud
Enjoyable and a great position Positive: This quirky and budget hotel is in a great position for exploring the town & beach. It was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were great, as was the bar, and the full English breakfast was very good. Our room (2) had windows to 3 sides & lovely sea views. Negative: Very limited parking at the actual hotel
Great place to stay Positive: Lovely clean comfortable hotel good value for money Negative: Nothing not to like
value for money and well situated Positive: well situated near to sea and town, a short walk, 3 mins will get you to the railway station and with a range of shops and cafe bars nearby, there's something for everyone Negative: location is great, right on the cliff tops over looking the North Sea and in the distance you can watch the ships coming and going into the tees river
Appalling Positive: Nothing Negative: We couldn’t gain access as the receptionist had gone home. We called 9 times, but there was no answer. We had to stay somewhere else - thankfully we found another place with availability. Appalling and dangerous.
Positive: Beds were amazingly comfy breakfast was lovely Negative: All good
Positive: Quaint, old hotel. Nostalgia every where. Negative: Na
Ecelantbstay Positive: Breakfast was mint Negative: Nothing
appalling Positive: not great breakfast but frienldy staff Negative: everything could have been better . this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. very poor quality rooms
Good value for money, would gladly have stayed longer. Positive: Lovely hot full English breakfast, plenty of cereal, orange juice, toast etc Negative: A simple sign on the door to the dining room would be helpful for first timers.
Ok hotel, wouldn’t stay again. Positive: The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The location was great and it was easy to park for free on the street Negative: The hotel is quite tired looking, the room could have been cleaner, we could hear everything from the room next door, the walls were extremely thin! We were just staying for a night whilst walking along the coast, so it did the job.
Lovely people, breakfast was quick, easy & good. May we’ll stay again for the convenience. Positive: We only used this as a base to sleep so just needed to be close to Skelton to see friends Negative: The mattresses and pillows were a real challenge, bad backs & necks for both of us.
Usual good stay at Saltburn House Positive: Great staff and breakfast. Finally got rid of the tiny TV's in the rooms.
Positive: The Hotel was perfect, the parking of our vehicle was rubbish. Parking facilities should be much better considering the size of the Hotel. Negative: Parking facilities
Nice but the heatwave didn’t help Positive: Great location and breakfast, nice staff, cheap Negative: Our room was extremely hot
Never again Positive: Nothing Negative: Everything
definitely worth going to. Don't expect the Ritz hotel and you won't be disappointed. Positive: For the price, it was excellent. Clean, comfortable rooms with plenty of hot water which is exactly what you need when walking. Very helpful, pleasant staff. great location near some very good cafes and restaurants. Negative: Our toilet flush broke and it wasn't seen to until I told them a second time the following day. dreadfully small car park, much better to park on the near by street. Neither of these problems would put us off staying again.
Our stay was fine. Positive: The hotel is a very lovely building but in need of some refurbishing. The room and bedding were clean. The breakfast was fine. The staff were very polite & friendly especially the gentleman who served the breakfast. Negative: The only thing I can say negative is the property needs decorating and modernising.
Very quiet place to start which i love and friendly staff. The bed was comfortable and had a good sleep Positive: It has character and is clean Negative: Needs decorating
Good location for 2 night stay, especially handy for Seaview restaurant. Positive: Good location near station and shops and close to costal walks and beach . Breakfast staff were very friendly. Negative: The bathroom and bedroom room had minimal furnishings, lacked shelving, hooks . The floor and plumbing was quite noisy
Beautiful Saltburn by the Sea Positive: The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. Our room was basic, but it was clean with spotless linen bedding and a lovely warm shower. Tea, coffee, and biscuits were provided in the room as was a hairdryer and toiletries. The location is perfect. Negative: The hotel is basic and could do with a facelift. But we enjoyed our time there.
Positive: Great Breakfast. Excellent Restaurant Manager Negative: An Issue with parking!
Fair price and very friendly staff with a top location. Positive: Staff were very friendly and Linda who welcomed us was warm and went above and beyond- providing me with a cafetiere and coffee when i mentioned I was a coffee snob! Breakfast was fine (cooked) and again with friendly server. We knew the room would be basic which it was but shower good and all immaculate. Once we knew it had been a convalescence home it all made more sense! Interesting building and fabulous location to Main Street and promenade and beach. Negative: One of the beds needed replacing- could feel the springs in the mattress. Walls are thin although that wasn’t an issue. Our room was at back so did hear a lot of trains but that’s not the fault of the hotel.
An enjoyable stay! Positive: Lovely, wecoming, friendly owner and gentleman serving breakfast. Perfectly situated only a few minutes walk from beach, shops and station. Very nice gardens. Tasteful decor. .
Good stay enjoyed it Positive: Nice room sea view comfortable beds fresh bedding nice shower breakfast was lovely good quality staff friendly and helpful Negative: The hotel is old and needs a bit of up dating but we would stay again
Positive: Good Thanks Negative: The parking is an issue and access is very narrow for newer cars and longer cars
Empfehlenswert! Positive: Unterkunft in einem historischen Gebäude welches gerade renoviert wird. Zimmer mit bequemen Betten, sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal und gutes englisches Frühstück. Empfehlen wir gerne weiter! Hotel in a historic building which is currently being renovated. Room with comfortable beds, good English breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. We recommend it!
Will not come again! Positive: The location is good and the staff fine. The room and bathroom were clean. Negative: There was no power in the room except the lights. All the staff finish at 8pm. We arrived at 7.50pm, so did not find out about the power until everybody had gone. There was no TV controller, but that was mute as no power. A leak behind the toilet and the carpet was smelly.
Positive: Nice location overlooking coastline. Negative: Very 'tired' hotel struggling to hold on to past glories. Also, my son left his earbuds behind and hotel claimed next guests had taken but his tracker showed them in Saltburn area for next few weeks so pretty sure one of the staff robbed them rather than hand them in. Hotel management washed hands and refused to investigate further. Would not recommend.
Positive: Handy for a group of Guy's golfing. Good breakfast to keep you going.
External appearance of building could do with updating. Staff were brilliant Positive: Breakfast was fine Negative: Updated coffee machine
A great value and very pleasant, albeit slightly basic, place to stay in a lovely seaside town. Positive: The hotel is a little dated, but they are working on the decorating. Beds were very comfortable, and the shower really good. Breakfast selection was rather basic, but the cooked breakfast was excellent and very tasty. Location for getting around Saltburn was great, and just a few minutes walk from the great selection of eating places in the town. The walk down to the beach takes you either through a lovely wooded valley, or along the top promenade and down steps, both of which are a very pleasant walk.. Saltburn is a lovely town with a great beach area, and lots of fabulous places to eat out. Would definitely recommend at this price point, and would happily stay there again. Negative: While the room was overall pretty clean, attention to detail around the edges would be good. Other than that, nothing to point out. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Good value for money. Great location. Positive: Such an interesting history to this building. My grandad stayed in 1932 when recovering from a mining accident. We received a very friendly welcome on arrival and the room and en suite were just what we needed. Not posh, but simple and comfortable. And very nice toiletries. Negative: No chair in the room, but we managed. Interior decor a bit tired. Lose the plastic plants and add more photos of its historic past. A bit more signage inside.
Great friendly staff. Shame the building let it down and the poor breakfast choice. Positive: Super friendly staff. Negative: Mattresses were very poor. We could feel the springs poking through, which meant we had a poor sleep. Also breakfast had issues. The hot selection was good and it really was hot and tasty. However, the buffet element left a lot to be desired. The choice was very limited. No yoghurt. No fruit. No croissants. Only orange juice, toast, jam and marmalade. The decor was very outdated and needed modernization.
Positive: The breakfast was first class, beds comfy, plenty of wardrobe space Negative: The water wasn't hot on our last morning so had to cold shower the checkout time is a bit early so didn't really have time to wait for the hot water problem to be sorted. .
Would have been good with better organisation Positive: Ok if you wanted Full English but just a few cereals and 2 loaves of sliced bread for toast otherwise. Service was extremely slow. Rooms were clean Negative: No hot water to wash or shower in bathroom and light over washbasin not working. I presumed that this was a ‘one-off ‘ problem but on reading earlier reviews in the month found that this had happened before to several customers. Seems to be that ‘cold water’ is the norm!
Positive: Little tired but good value.
No gas no problem Positive: A lovely Hotel, near the beach, very charming. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was alright, no service during the stay (but if you need anything, just ask). Due to a gas leak (earlier that week?)we got no hot water for 2 days which was a bore, but, well, you got something to tell when you get home. The hotel is very charming, the breakfast room is astonishing! Our room was bigger than most we got during our vacation and bathroom even got a washing line -big plus!! On our last day the leak was fixed, so everything was fine.
It needs Alex Polizzi to help them out Positive: Location is good. Close to the centre but not too busy. Negative: There was no hot water in the morning due to a gas leak which was being worked on. Well done to the poor woman manning the kitchen, turning out a full cooked breakfast. No towels in my room when I arrived. I used my own and I asked for a set which where dumped on the floor out side my room. There is no reception desk, it’s an office behind a locked door. It feels a little chaotic and my booking couldn’t be found. After 15 mile hike on hot day, the beer garden could have been a sanctuary. However it does seem to be a honey pot for local riff raff. All the customers were at the front. The beer garden was occupied by a couple of drunken families where the shirtless men had more tattoos than brain cells and traded tips and techniques on fighting dirty in punch ups. I didn’t feel comfortable so I left to find another watering hole.
Not good value for money, limited accommodation in saltburn, I guesss Positive: Good location near train station and sea front and town centre. Easy check in and check out. Negative: No hot water, gas leak at hotel? Unable to have warm shower, wasn't told this at check in, overheard other guests complaining at reception, no choice but to stay as already paid.
Staff went out of their way to make sure we got the best room Positive: Location Negative: Cleanliness
Didn't stay. Very run down Positive: N/A Negative: Room was claustrophobic, small, window so high up couldn't see out, dark. Couldn't stay. Hotel was very run down. Not at all like pictures. Trying to get money back. Not holding up much hope.
Great if you smoke Positive: Room was clean and well maintained, apart from dangerous double socket loose from wall Negative: Huge amount of smoking outside main front door, so whole foyer stank of smoke
Perfect place to stay on the Cleveland way. Positive: This hotel has a really interesting history. There are lots of fascinating architectural features. It is a quirky place full of friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Beds were comfortable and the hot water plentiful. Nice views of the sea from the room’s windows. Good breakfast.
