IT accommodated our needs for a short stay. It was affordable, next to the COMPLEX OFFICE, ok. Positive: I made a mistake by not using (did not know) to use a LOCAL agent - could've still done that through booking. Something was amiss in front end preparing. No development/map was provided -we arrived at night. The company had needed our photo id's (licenses...front and back), and much of our "detail." Uncomfortable but maybe all that's standard now. I'd been assured it had been received after a phone call in (about protecting my sensitive info), yet - my bad -I didn't CHECK for the email of the Entry Code, exact unit location, pertinent infor. until later afternoon drive in from San Antonio. Communication was WAAAY lacking at this point as we were an hour from the property, I trying to assuage their support (my Gosh!, they still don't KNOW me?) & I & my partner was getting angrier w/ situation (not a great start to vacay) as we approached Port A, STILL with no avail of the issue of "where IS our place??" the photo they sent us after arrival-by then (after stopping along Hwy 37 at spots for internet to appease the host's agency, now in the dark, we still had NO clue how to interpret the building & unit (there were no building numbers.) They finally sent an old photo, but the search for a mustard color building wasn't correct; building had been painted another color.....we finally found it at 8:15 p.m. Not a Texas management group. All the ladies I spoke to were professional, but they really didn't know property. Room itself was ok - functional. One swooped out mattress was sub-par at best, so we doubled on the other bed. A couple of cabinet fronts loose & some deep cleaning should be necessary. Beach access is through the property & it wasn't a problem, (5 minute walk.) I interpreted the ad to be it's facing or beachfront. No.... all in all, we made it a good stay. Negative: I like this older complex as it has a great pool, tennis courts & good location. Next time, I'll follow advice given by a smart vacationer who HELPED direct us to the unit (my information provided by Florida agency didn't get us readily to property) - USE a local booking agency. Even if its through booking .com, at least they inherently KNOW the property.

Location was good. Close to good restaurants and gas stations. Not far from beach entrance. Place was clean, they the provided bare minimum for a stay. Towels, dish soap, and some kitchen things. The beds were horrible, did not get rest the two nights we were there. Due to us being in the first floor, we kept hearing the upstairs people move, ALOT throughout the night. The walls are also pretty thin, so you could hear everything. Overall, our stay was ok.

I will book again, love knowing their policy’s in place. Positive: It was private and strict about who staying there. Love the bracelet on who can use the amenities. Negative: Parking, they had rules and u saw residents didn’t respect that. They tell u where to park on the 2nd vehicle.

amazing place, great amenities. my wife and 2 daughters stayed for 5 days and it was awesome. we loved that the beach was a short walk distance. Will definitely stay in it again for my next visit.

Kitchenette had every thing we needed. The air conditioning is amazing. Pool was great and refreshing.

Nice place next to beach. Only downside is no water to wash yourself off heading back from beach.

The room served it's purpose. A place to sleep & shower. It is very difficult for the one person up against the wall to crawl out of the bed. I was going to sleep on the couch but couldn't fine a sheet or blanket. It is a very small place & it was crowded with just 3 adults. It was clean & everything operated correctly.

A cozy place to stay, not a far walk from the beach and friendly host. It was a relaxing weekend away.

Very nice place super clean definitely would stay again. Easy access to beach only a 5 minute walk,love that our parking spot was just at our front door and when you rent a buggy you can park it just across from parking spot,very convenient.

Good stuff

Very nice and relaxing. Positive: The unit was close enough to the beach to have beach access. Very clean and easy to get to. I liked that it had a pool and set off the main road some. I appreciated the quite time starting at 10:00. Negative: I did not like the fact that parking was first come first available. With the price of the unit for two nights I felt like I should have been able to park in one of the parking spots Infront of my unit and not have to worry about someone getting it or having to park on the other side and walk to the unit.

Enjoyed our stay. The property was clean, had everything we needed, great access to the beach, loved the pool. It was quiet around the property. It was nice that there was staff stationed outside monitoring guests in/out most of the weekend. The communication with our host was excellent. Would definitely recommend this property.

Nice place but charging a resort fee is ridiculous. Positive: Close to the beach Negative: Paid for “resort fees”???? Island retreat is NOT a resort. Charging $200 for these fees is the reason I will not be coming back.

One is couch sleeper plastic very uncomfortable so sleep on couch instead of sleeper thank you we had fun keep it simple n sweet

Very nice 3 day stay, the room is right next to the office though. I was told the room came with 2 parking passes and the office told me just 1, and made me pay $10 each night we stayed there, the office was very rude and not helpful at all. They then didn’t even let us park both vehicles in front of room because they were “low” on parkings and said the 2nd vehicle had to be parked in the “overflow” area when nobody was even parking in front of our room. There was a bunch of empty parkings and they kept bothering us about parking in the overflow. Which we did not feel comfortable parking behind the building because we could not see the vehicle from where our room is. Also there wasn’t any other vehicle parked in the “overflow” area so it all seemed a bit sketchy and a little bit racist. Also when we came to the room there wasn’t any towels for us to use, the host was questioning if I was positive there wasn’t any, but I assured them there wasn’t any, and they brought us some. 💞

Was a nice getaway for the weekend. Would definitely come back. There were other families there but it didn’t feel like we were squished or on top of each other. The room itself is spacious and having a smart tv was to nice to be able to watch movies in the evenings. The bathroom had a larger sink then most of the other places as well, so it was nice having that sink space 👌🏼

My girls and I had a great stay for our mini vacation. We were close to the pool, and it was a short walking distance to the beach. All the things to do were within a short distance from us. The unit was downstairs, and next to the office, but it was very quiet. The beds were very comfy, and the hosts were very responsive to my questions/concerns. So glad we chose this place to relax and kick off summer. Port A did not disappoint!

Let me start by saying I usually prefer not to write a review at all rather than write a bad one. First complaint was the buried $55 damage waiver fee that involves 3rd party info gathering. Then the host was not at all open to checking in early whether it was ready or not. Now, upon arrival, the place was neat a clean. It is a little small, but I knew that from previous reviews. Everything was fine a worked well. The beds were comfy. However, after sleeping in them for 2 nights, the sheet on the bed my wife was in pulled back a little and I could see there was no mattress cover. I pulled the sheet back only to find the mattress was heavily stained with urine. So I pulled the other bed sheets back, which did have a cover, and it was also heavily stained with urine. Needless to say I was very upset. I contacted the host, and their response was underwhelming. Eventually they did agree to refund $120, which turned out to be a hidden cleaning fee. A BnB said to be honest, so here it is

Constant construction at office for 5 days next door to our room. For 11 hours every day, hammering, banging, construction on the other side wall next to our room. We had to walk over construction materials to get into our door. They parked in our parking spaces, blocked the gate to the boat parking. This unit should have never been rented out. Sand Key did nothing to help the situation. Very inconsiderate.

We had a great stay. It’s close to the beach and a golf cart ride away from all activities, shopping & restaurants. The condo is small there were 3 of us. I do recommend bringing an extra towel, your own bodywash, wash clothes & handsoap bc what was provided wasn’t enough. They didn’t provide us with wash clothes so Def bring some. Easy check in & out and communication was great. Overall it was a great stay and def recommend it!

I will stay there again. the beach is close by. The place is clean and cozy and it smell good.

I booked this unit for two nights. The first night three cockroaches crawled on my feet while using the toilet in the middle of the night. I reported to host and received a apology and offer to send pest control, someone couldn't come out until after check out. I had to go to cvs and get raid the next morning, ALOT more cockroaches came out from under the toilet and I just received another apology. It wasn't until I reached out to Airbnb support I was offered a different unit or partial refund. Obviously I don't trust the cleaning so took the refund and drove 35 minutes for the next available hotel due to it being spring break. The refund I received was half the amount the representative from Sand Key said it would be. The whole experience has been disappointing but I will say host responded quickly.

Great location and everything was just like it was pictured. Had a great stay and will definitely be making another trip.

Enjoyed our stay and was located very conveniently by the beach! Fit everyone perfectly and the fully stocked kitchen was very helpful.

We had a great stay overall. The location was perfect, right by the beach and very close access to near by restaurants, shops and bars. Essentially you’re paying for the location. The suite itself was very clean upon arrival. It was just much smaller than expected. The kitchen was tiny, so I wouldn’t plan on cooking. And the shower head was very low which made taking a comfortable shower challenging. Over all, it was good for a two night stay. I think we just expected something a bit more spacious.

I would give this place a 5 stars if only it weren’t for the booking process. I missed that there is a hidden fee in the description, not accounted for during Airbnb checkout. But what’s even worse is that you have to use the third-party service that collects your personal data and charges you outside of Airbnb, and I just don’t trust such resources, especially when my identity was already verified by Airbnb. And there is no way to avoid this unless you cancel and lose the non-refundable part of the reservation fee. So read the description carefully. On a bright side, we enjoyed the property. It’s very close to the beach, has two very nice swimming pools, we stayed on the first floor and the condo was very easily accessible, with the parking right in front of the door, and golf cart parking being very close. Golf cart rental is also very close, within a walkable distance. Despite the unpleasant verification with the third-party service I can’t trust, we’d stay again.

The easy beach access was the best part.

WOW. This was the 1st Air bnb we have stayed in. The place was near the beach and clean. It was just as the pictures! Thank you. It was as if we never left home. My wife knows we usually Stay at a Marriot so for her to be happy makes me happy. We are coming back in the. summer and we will Stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay and felt very safe. They have someone manning the entrance which is a nice safety feature. The walk to the beach was easy and fun. The music at the pool was a fun surprise. Great little spot. Fit the 4 of us very comfortably.

Very clean and peaceful stay. Only bad thing I can leave on was one of the door handles for the bathroom door was broken and hard to close French doors.

We had a wonderful time. Great price for the place, close to walking distance and driving distance to the beach.

After booking this property through AirBnBs website and making a full payment, I was contacted by the host and told that in order to stay in the rental I just paid for, I would need to pay an additional $50.00 "security fee" through a 3rd party (SuperHog LLC). I thought it was a scam, but after speaking to AirBnBs customer service they informed me that the host can charge this fee because it is listed within the fine print of their listing. In my opinion this is a deceptive and deceitful business practice, to charge someone a separate fee through a 3rd party AFTER the host already received full payment and the booking was already complete. Shameful and obvious money grab. Will not return.

Great place for my family. No frills room with everything you need. My kids loved the pool and playground. Live music played one night at the pool Area and we grilled out. Security sits at the gate and checks everyone coming in (quickly) for parking pass and wrist band. This place is very safe and all visitors were quiet and to themselves, no loud music or partying. The beach walkway is right on the edge of the property past the pool, very walkable for my 18 month old and 5 year old. We loved the stay

The place was delightful. The amenities were nice, and I got everything I was promised. They did a decent job of communicating ahead of time, about check in process, and location; except, that they forgot to send me a link to their 3rd party security deposit site, so I didn't get my room entry code until after I arrived and called them. Calling the was a trick and a half as the space is co-owned/time shared(?) something like that, with about 5 other companies. The first 2 that I had numbers for were not the company that I booked through. So it was a bit confusing, and kind of irritating. Once we got there, however, it was a very pleasant experience. There are also 2-3 fees not included in the upfront room cost: a booking fee, cleaning fee, and a security deposit. So over all, I wish they'd be a little more upfront with their fees, and a bit more on top of the communication, but I do think that the total price of the weekend was worth it. It's a nice place to stay.

This was so restful and relaxing, the beach was within walking distance with a lighted walkway and rinse station. The pools and play area were clean and easily accessed. We loved our time here, the room was cute and comfortable.

Beautiful and cozy

Great unit, very clean, cute, and close to the beach. The only complaint is that the age limit for booking was not clear . We booked with the main user being under 25 and had no issues while being in contact with the owner before checking in. Upon checking in, we were told we wouldn’t be able to stay while being under 25 and that we would not receive a refund for the $500 we had paid. Thankfully, they made an exception in our case as the age limit was not clearly / obviously stated + we drove several hours. They would not have made an exception if we had not argued the fact that there was no confirmation of age by the host before confirmation of booking. My recommendation is to contact Airbnb and/or set up a firewall or verification process before accepting booking from your guests so that this does not happen. The staff let us know this has happened many times, so it is obvious this is an ongoing issue. Otherwise, great stay and price - I would stay in this unit again!

Very nice place to stay!

Very comfortable and easy. Lots of towels provided which was real nice. A couple of things that stood out. The shower head is very low for an average person. There is a string hanging in the shower. No idea what that is for. No instructions to the TV system. The fridge made loud noise and was dripping from freezer into fridge. Called it in. Never heard from them. I got it to stop by turning it off then back on.

The efficiency room worked just right for me.

Had a great stay here. It is walking distance to the beach, and a short drive to restaurants/bars. Nice and quiet area too. It should be noted that if you are a tall person (6ft+), the shower is built for short people. Thank you for hosting me.

This was a cute, quiet place and just inside the complex. When we first got there the place was clean and tidy. The fridge had a leak that dripped on the top shelf and the toilet ran the entire time, but at a very slow pace. They weren't very big issues and it did not harm any food or soil anything. Other than those two things, this rental studio was a very pleasant place to stay. I was supposed to receive a phone call with the door code but I never got one. So when I got there I went to the front office. The two ladies were so sweet and very accommodating! As soon as I mentioned I did not receive a call, one of the ladies hopped right on it and got me the phone # for Sand Key Rentals. Patience with a smile, they know what they're doing!

Very nice first floor condo We really enjoyed our stay. Perfect for 2 people or family with 1 or 2 little ones. Can hear surf at night. I really liked the company managing the property! They actually called us and told us the condo was ready for early check in! The only reason I gave 4 stars for accuracy of online listing is because it was described as beachfront where beach access more accurate. There is a path 1,600 steps to the beach, this unit is at the front of the property with 2 parking lots and several buildings from the beach. Would definitely rent again.

Sun and fun We had a nice experience renting this property. No problems lots of fun and rest. It was clean and had everything we needed to get started on a quiet stay. Only downside was that it was right next to office. Had some foot traffic.
