Fabulous 2 night stay in this beautifully appointed property. Absolutely central location. Would not hesitate to book again. Perfect for two couples.
Perfect base for our first visit to Alnwick. Three good sized bedrooms each with own shower/bath. Beautiful building, very nicely furnished, without clutter! The parking space was handy, but unfortunately we were 3 couples and had 3 vehicles but the parking was free and the 24 hr parking was so ha dy, just out the back! We all loved it. The layout was quirky and took a bit of getting used to, quite a few steps, but not arduous, and we were on the more mature side and found it not a problem! The whole place was very very clean. Alnwick was perfect and Yule House was brilliant! One teeny problem (perhaps) was back door key really hard to turn to lock and unlock but I imagine this is in hand to get fixed. Its just a lock problem! We'd all love to return and all 6 of us would recommend Yule House.
We stayed at Yule House over the Easter long weekend. There were 2 couples and the space was the perfect size. The location is outstanding; right in the middle of Alnwick, easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars. It is a beautiful old building with solid stone walls, so it was lovely and quiet even though we were in the town. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Beautiful and spacious with comfy beds! Positive: It was beautiful and unique, wonderfully decorated with plenty of space for a family of 5. We also loved the location after we finally found it and the single parking space. It is within walking distance to the treehouse restaurant, the castle, and lilidorei. Easy trip by car to bamburg Castle as well. Negative: The directions to the accommodation are not great, and the tiny sign for the parking spot was hard to find. However, the early checkout time is the biggest drawback when going to explore the area and the nearby castle. We also had no internet service during our stay, which was tough as one of us was supposed to be in a meeting online and had to go to a nearby café to use the wifi.
Luxurious stay in the heart of Alnwick Positive: Luxurious accommodation, finished to a very high standard. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms gave everyone their own space. Perfect location to visit Alnwick, with the town & castle literally on the doorstep. Any questions I had were answered in minutes so very attentive staff. Definitely recommend for a group or family visiting the area. Negative: Only one car parking spot, but free 24 hour parking just a short walk away allowed for us to car swap the space with no extra cost.
The location was perfect for us to enjoy Alnwick and the surrounding area. The actual accommodation is very old but has been beautifully renovated inside. It has some quirky levels to the floors and stairs but it’s what you would expect from a property of this age ( and you soon get used to this).Might not be great for people with accessibility issues but it was perfect for our family and we really enjoyed our stay.
Great stay with friends exploring Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island and Cragside. Positive: Central location, the property had everything that was needed for our stay. Just could have given more details to find the parking spot.
The Yule House is a historic building in the heart of Alnwick's old town, only steps from the market square and with a view of the castle (practically in the backyard) from one bedroom. Although there are many stairs, some uneven in rise (and every room seems to be on a different level in this old building), none are long climbs -- and once you get used to it, it's easy to move around the house. The different levels also provide a degree of privacy, making the house appropriate for two or even three couples (each with their own full bath, with an additional WC to spare on the ground floor). Free, easy parking in the heart of downtown is a huge benefit, as is walking access to a Morrisons, a Boots, the extraordinary Barter Books, and many restaurants. We stayed in early March and were able to open windows to cool the individual rooms if needed, and the ability to control heat through individual room radiators as well as a master thermostat was a great convenience. Overall excellent.
Great central location Positive: Central location with shops and places to eat & drink literally on the doorstep. We got married while there so took us seconds to cross onto Fenkle street to the registry office. It was equipped with everything we needed as well as being extremely comfortable. Having our own parking space was a bonus. Negative: Upon arrival it was already dark. We struggled getting into the property, we think having a light near the door or in the courtyard would have helped.
Thank you very much. We had a fantastic day much appreciated. The steps been nice and low and different were quite an exciting event and it may led to amaze like experience in the house which was in itself and adventure.
Great house in a great location for Alnwick and the castle. Three lovely bedrooms all with excellent bathrooms. Beds were very comfortable and all the furnishings are of a high quality. The decor is contemporary and very classy. The whole house feels very well looked after and the feeling is of relaxed luxury. We very much enjoyed our stay and would visit again. If you’re visiting Alnwick then this is a perfect spot.
Lovely property and great location. We had a lovely stay but the service wasn’t great. Called for help finding the property as parking at the rear but the map and postcode takes you to the front which is a high street and they had to use google maps to direct us. Also asked for car parking recommendations for second car and they were very unhelpful and got told to look on google maps. Bit annoying that we paid £30 for an early check in for only 2 hours and when we got in the property the heating wasn’t on and was just 13 degrees inside! Took so long to warm up which wasn’t ideal as we had a 3 month old baby and 3 year old with us. Took 12 hours to get to 18 degrees. Raised this to host and stay and they couldn’t do anything until the next day so had to sleep in a cold room until it warmed up. Unable to sort out extra heaters for us for that night. Also the coffee machine was broken and raised this to them to which nothing was done about this.
Great place would benefit from normal tv with Ariel as it was poor and had no tv for two weeks disappointed
We stayed at the Yule House with my mother, who is 82 years old, from Saturday to Monday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The apartment was stylishly furnished and decorated and the Xmas tree made it feel festive for us. It is situated perfectly in the centre of Alnwick so the little cafes and shops are easily accessible. The parking space behind the property was really appreciated too. This property is gorgeous and full of character and quirkiness but although I knew it was on 3 levels I wasn’t aware of the other levels and steps up and down into rooms( particularly on the top floor) which made it a little awkward for my elderly mother. There was some noise on Saturday night from nearby bars but this did quieten down at about 11:30 and maybe is to be expected because of the convenient central location. Overall I would definitely recommend staying at the Yule House and would stay there again.
If better managed, maintained and cleaned it would be just amazing. Positive: *The house is beautiful. *It is perfectly situated. *Beds are very comfortable. *The towels are lovely and white and fluffy. *The house is warm and cosy and there is endless hot water. Negative: HOWEVER! The following points were a definite negative: ( all reported while in property, but no help offered to rectify) *The kitchen has inadequate provision for 6 guests. There are literally only 6 sets of cutlery and 6 plates each of various sizes, meaning you have to wash up after each meal, or run the dishwasher 3 times per day. There are no drying towels provided. *Most of the glasses are too tall top fit in the dishwasher. *The pots are hopelessly too small for cooking for the number of guests. *I contacted the help number to see if even one bigger pot could be provided and it was not forthcoming. *The glasses, cutlery and pots all had to be washed prior to use as they were dirty. Even the tin opener was rusty and dirty. *The oven was filthy and inadequate sized trays present. *The lights and timer did not work and there were missing oven shelves. *There was mold on the freezer door and within the hinges. The freezer compartment is small. *There were no microwave safe containers to use in the microwave. *Very dirty oven gloves. *You enter via the lower sitting room to the most awful ‘drains’ smell emanating from the utility room. *There were many dirty areas on the carpets and even on the sofa in the upper lounge. *The window on the Castle View bedroom leaks on the opening window and a large puddle formed on the window sill and spilled onto the floor - we had to use a bath towel to deal with this. *There is much made of the fact that there is a fireplace. This was one of the attractions for me. I asked if logs were provided and was told they were not. On arrival, there was an electric fan heater on a coal effect style heater placed in the fireplace. The bulb to give a ‘glow’ must have been broken as it did not work. *The remote for the TV needed new batteries as it was very slow and did not work well. There are no spare batteries anywhere to do this. *The WIFI code provided does not work. You have to remove the code from the BT hub to use and then it is...
An enjoyable stay in a lovely property. Positive: Excellent location right in the middle of Alnwick. The house is large, clean, warm and comfortable. Good instructions to the parking spot at the rear of the property. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Negative: The bed in one of the rooms (Castle View) is quite noisy/ creaky to sleep in. The TV free view reception was poor but we were able to watch on the BBC iplayer and Netflix.
Lovely escape, plenty to see and do in the area. Positive: Bedrooms and lounge were comfortable and ideal for the three of us. Very central location. Negative: Kitchen table and benches a little difficult to manoeuvre.
Just returned from a fab few days away at Yule House, perfect property in the heart of beautiful Alnwick. Just like the photos, warm and welcoming. As previously mentioned smell of damp in downstairs entrance but if you shut the door it didn’t continue into main living area. Instructions to parking space spot on. Would recommend and return
Convenient and comfortable Positive: Location was excellent, centrally placed in Alnwick. Very spacious accommodation, comfortable, modern and clean and very well equipped. Not suitable if you have mobility problems due to the number of stairs. Useful to have a designated parking space in Alnwick.
Great location, spacious property, parking Positive: Large property, good location, comfortable Negative: Not over clean, had that damp / unclean carpet smell, but been in worse. Garden not worth talking about, needs maintenance
Excellent stay at Yule House, would highly recommend it to anyone, great location for shops, restaurants and overall a lovely place to be. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Loved staying here. The decor as well thought out for this unusual house centred in the the town centre. Many fantastic Positive: Beautifully decorated house and deceptively spacious.
A very impressive house in a great town!😂 Positive: Very spacious and top quality fittings and furnishings! Very well located in the middle of Alnwick! Negative: The back garden needs a tidy up! Not a good appearance on arrival especially as you initially enter via the back door! A few colourful plants would be nice.
We had a wonderful stay at Yule House. It was as beautiful as the photos. There were five of us and a bathroom each was perfect. The town is pretty and very clean, with lots of independent shops; Barter Books is well worth a visit. We ate at the Dirty Bottles a few doors down from Yule House, the food was excellent. We visited Bamburgh Castle which was fabulous and took a drive along the coast route early evening. We all said we would return to Yule House without hesitation and there’s so much more to explore in the area.
Very disappointed with the back area approach. Did not match the description. There is no garden, just an outside yard covered with rough slates and weeds. Quite dirty out the back. Does not match inside. Bottom lounge unusable as damp and dark. Property not child friendly due to steep stairs and loud noise from street at night. Great location for getting about on foot and nice decor inside, albeit needs a refresh of paint and carpets cleaning.
Great location and the directions to get to the parking space were good too, although we drove past and struggled to find the right gate, as there are entrances to several properties. Rooms were spacious, tastefully furnished with good quality furniture and very clean. Although we didn’t cook, the kitchen was well equipped. The small garden could do with weeding but as it was really just an entrance it wasn’t an issue. I did report that there was a strong smell of damp as we entered from the rear of the property, so we kept the door shut and as we were on four levels, it wasn’t really a problem. I would recommend this property, it’s in a great location and definitely a cut above the majority of Air B&Bs I have stayed in before.
Lovely place to stay
Lovely accommodation, period features, in the middle of Alnwick, close castle views from rear of the property. Short walk to Alnwick castle and gardens. Accommodation spread over several levels but beautifully decorated and furnished.
Very good location in Alnwick .
Lovely 3 storey townhouse , modern, comfortable and in a great central location close to the castle. Would recommend this place and a fab place to stay
We had an amazing Stay. So clean and welcoming. Beautifully decorated. We would definitely recommend and we will most definitely be back. A great pub 2 shops down amazing atmosphere.
Positive: Lovely handy location right next to the castle and restaurants, comfy beds, lovely big living room with views over the main street, everything you could need in the kitchen. Negative: Wasn't a problem for us but the property has a lot of stairs, strange smell in the entrance which seemed to improve the second day,
Spacious central house in Alnwick Positive: Amazing location, couldn't be closer to town centre and Alnwick Castle. Spacious clean quirky old house close to restaurants and pubs Negative: Nothing really. Lots of internal stairs and odd nooks and crannies which gave the house character. Had an issue with the boiler which we reported and couldn't get TV working but that was probably our ignorance regarding modern technology
The house is lovely, comfortable and in a great location. We were disappointed that the hot water issue mentioned by a previous reviewer reoccurred and we had no hot water on arrival. After several phone calls (and a little help from ChatGPT) we managed to get it sorted
Exceptional Positive: All the bedrooms where beautifully decorated plenty stuff to use in the house. Very easily accessible as me and my partner where getting married on Tuesday 19th so was in the perfect spot for all restaurants and local attractions faultless Negative: Nothing
This is a lovely property, the location was great but some ‘fixes’ are required. Positive: The property was very well presented, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. Negative: There is a need for advice about car parking in the town. The property has only 1 parking space but will sleep up to 6 people so there will often be a need for 2 or 3 cars to be parked. Also the TV did not work for most channels. There was an unpleasant odour inside the rear entrance that seemed to be coming from drains. The heating radiator in the Castle View bedroom didn’t work.
While the place was very well equipped, clean, modern and spacious, there was no hot water and heat on the first day of my stay. After spending a fair bit of time on several phone calls the issue was fixed a day later taking away from the experience. I am pursuing a compensation with the host for the inconvenience but they have been extremely slow in their investigation and after 15 days have still not concluded it. The property is managed by a professional company which lists the place in providers other than Airbnb leading to a more complex check in process. The entrance and lock box are hard to locate. I’m very conflicted about this review because the property itself is great but I am left with a below par experience.
The house is great to stay in the town, we enjoyed the buzz. The front door is right on the street, the back door from the rear parking and looks onto the castle. On arrival, to find the house go down Greenwell Rd, beyond the "no public parking beyond this point" signs. The parking spot is right in front of you. You wont find it in the dark without looking for these signs. The rooms are a comfortable size, nice and bright. The kitchen is functional, but not overly spacious for six people to sit and eat if you are using the cooker. The house was very clean and recently re-furbished which we appreciated. Loved the light switches! At the front the neighbouring shop is a nail salon which my daughter highly recommends - she enjoyed her pedicure! The fumes did come through to the hall way sometimes. Good to walk to the Alnwick gardens and the castle. Do the castle early in your stay as the ticket allows you to return for up to a year.
Nice, large property in town centre Positive: Central location in town centre with parking space Large property with multiple bathrooms which was great. Clean and warm. Beds were comfortable. App for property guide - great idea Dishwasher tabs and cleaning products included Negative: Could do with more tables in sitting room within reach of sofas/chairs. Beer glasses (Pint tumblers) we were kindly lent these from pub downstairs!!! Overly zealous communication from rental company, before during and after stay - some of which was rather negative in tone, constant reminders of rules etc As others have commented - property not easy to find from rear entrance/car park space at back. Much clearer directions needed.
Great location in the town for walking to the gardens, castle and restaurants. A really comfortable house, with everything we needed for a long weekend break, including a private parking space.
Lovely big house right in centre of Alnwick. Very comfortable stay & would recommend
This was a perfect location for us. Walkable to several restaurants and bars. A great view of the castle from one of the bedrooms.
The property was located next to all the amenities in Alnwick. We were there for 4 days and we walked to all the touris Positive: There was lots of space and the property was very modern and comfortable.
Fabulous property, perfectly situated for our stay. Positive: Easily identified lock box and easy access to the property. Quirky layout but well appointed and decorated. Negative: Front door sticks at the bottom so a little tricky to open from the inside.
We were very happy to stay in this property. It’s quirky and interesting, warm and excellently situated. The views of the castle are spectacular. Don’t miss a trip into Barter books.
Fantastic house right in the middle of town, easy walk to local restaurants and bars. Alnwick Castle is only a five minute walk way.
Great location in the centre of Alnwick, close to restaurants, the castle and Alnwick Gardens .
Yule House is lovely, just as the photos on the website. Great location, central to the shops, bars and restaurants. The beds were comfortable, plenty of space to store clothes etc.
Lovely place, very clean and tidy and spacious. very central location & good to have parking too. Host was very responsive.
Central location , comfortable stay . Positive: Comfortable bed , warm house, kitchen facilities Negative: No wi fi , no one could connect to wi fi , house not signposted , took ages to find .
We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic stay at Yule House, it was very clean, of a very high standard and a great location in Alnwick for the town and surrounding areas. The coffee pods were a lovely surprise! Availability of parking was also a real benefit.
Positive: Very big private house, a lot of large and comfortable rooms and a great location
Enjoyable, Alnwick is a great place to explore and see the surrounding area 🤩 Positive: Location was brilliant 🤩 Rooms were well appointed, nicely designed. Negative: There’s an issue with either damp/ drain smell on the front door level. !! Not pleasant to be greeted with this!! Host and stay have been notified. Also back door handle requires attention. Host and stay are looking into this. These problems did not affect our overall stay.
We stayed for three nights and the location was so convenient for exploring Alnwick and the surrounding area. The house is right in centre of Alnwick with everything you need a quick walk away.We would definitely stay there again.
Great location close to all attractions
Fabulous location, fabulous house! Couldn’t rate it more! Looking forward to returning. Walking distance to the castle and gardens and the front door leads onto the high street.
lovely place to stay and lovely house
Great apartment in a fabulous location to explore Alnwick. Lovely big bedrooms, clean modern bathrooms and smart living area/kitchen. Host easy to communicate with!
Lovely house in a great location.
Excellent location, beautiful house
Lovely House in the centre of Alnwick, close to the bus station (we didn’t have a car) and a Morrisons . There were also plenty of Pubs/Restaurants within walking distance. The house was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean… with everything we needed for our stay. Our check-in was faultless as was check-out. There was a lovely courtyard outside with a table and chairs… we used this in the evening as it was so warm… Will definitely stay here again when in Alnwick.. thank you.
Excellent property. Immaculate and clean. Brilliant location for exploring Alnwick
Great stay in a lovely location. Highly recommended!
Had a lovely time. Positive: Great location. Nice property. Comfortable Negative: Not enough cutlery and crockery. Meant one had to was up or set off dishwasher after every meal. Boring and wasteful of water
I would highly recommend Yule House to anyone looking for a cosy and convenient stay in Alnwick. Located right in the heart of the town, it offers everything you need for a relaxing staycation, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Beautiful accommodation, great location and very spacious. Photos are accurate and the decor is beautiful. We were slightly disappointed that amenities lost cot and high chair although neither are actually available. The parking and entrance to the property is difficult to find but we were not at all familiar with the area which may have contributed. The heating is tricky to work out although we didn’t need to use it and we’re only looking to turn it down as the weather was amazing. However overall we had the best time in Alnwick and loved the property. Would highly recommend
amazing holiday home Positive: Beautiful holiday home, excellent location, everything we needed Negative: there wasn't anything we didn't like
Lovely home Positive: Lovely home over several floors, plenty of steps just to be aware of. Cosy and comfortable a home from home In the centre of Alnwick
A great place in a wonderful location. Would highly recommend it and would return
The house is in a great location within Alnwick which was great for exploring town as well as the coast. The interior was just perfect and exactly (if not better) than pics. It completely suited our needs. We had a few issues with the heating when we first got in but these were quickly resolved thanks to the responsiveness of host. Would recommend to others and definitely stay again.
On arrival the Yule House was spotlessly cleaned by Leanne. Tastefully decorated with lovely features throughout. There are plenty of steps and different levels, but once we got used to them it was fine. When we arrived the house was cold (January). Couldn't find the thermostat which was supposed to be located in the hallway according to instructions. Telephoned and explained the situation and after a while we were told thermostat was now in the master bedroom. We located this and turned the heating on and after that it was perfect. Would definitely recommend Yule House and would return in Spring next time.
Location fantastic/ property outstanding only let down is internet tv which not good for normal channels without subscription there is not enough cutlery or plates as booked as you here be bed and only 2 plates
Positive: The actual accommodation. The onsite parking. The convenience to all the facilities in Alnwick itself. The whole surrounding area.
A beautifully fitted out house with many bathrooms in a central area of Alnwick. The house was clean and met our needs well, the beds were comfy and despite its town location, it was very quiet. We will definitely be back.
Beautifully appointed accommodation right in the centre of town.
Absolutely beautiful house. Gorgeous bedrooms and so many bathrooms! Attention to detail fantastic. Very central to Alnwick. If you want to eat in the very local Dirty Bottles or other recommended eateries I would book in advance.
Stunning, perfect location. Lovely decor, comfortable beds and great showers! A fabulous place to stay in Alnwick with wonderful castle views and convenient private parking! Wonderful
