We were visiting Family in Malton between Christmas and New Year. It was ideal for our needs. It was warm and nicely decorated for Christmas. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. We walked from the apartment to the Railway station to catch the York train which took about 35 minutes and then the ride was about 40 minutes, so very easy. However, the train only runs once an hour. The last night we were there at midnight the power went off just as I was unplugging a bedside light. Thinking I had fused the property I emailed Charlie as I was worried for future guests. He was quick to respond and reassured me that it was not my fault and that there was a power cut. So when they say, they are always available to help, they really are!! I wasn't expecting any contact at such an unsociable hour. Would definitely stay again.

Nice spacious apartment for a family of four. Quiet surroundings with the occasional group of horse riders going by. Easy location with a car, we were visiting family and exploring in the area.

First impression... WOW! Widger Mews is a fantastic and excellent value holiday rental which is a must for horse lovers especially. My husbands first words as the first to enter the property were "all I can say is WOW". The location is fabulous for those wishing to use it as a quiet base to make day trips out to the NE coast and York. The apartment is warm and homely and very practical for a family of four, with the bedrooms at the oposite end of a long corridor from the living area. Perfect for relaxing in front of the box with a glass of wine after the kids have gone to bed. There are a few little areas that would benefit from improving, which I have fed back, but nothing that would stop you loving this accomodation as we did. If any of you are horse fans, you will love being in the heart of an area with race horse stables all around you and in fact right next door. Our girls loved watching the horses being ridden past the apartment every day to be taken out for their dailly exercise and training. Honestly, don't hesitate in booking this holiday rental. You won't regret it!

Nice place, and lovely and warm for these cold miserable winter times, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen for the average weekend stay, a bit disappointed that there was no “welcome pack” just a few milk sachets, thankfully we had stopped off at the shop on our way in, also the towels need renewing there were holes in 2 of the bath towels, although the bedding was nice. All in all a pleasant stay catching up with friends.

Lovely owner & property -we would like to stay again however we did have a couple of concerns:- The entrance door has no latch or Yale so literally had to be locked every time. Only one key is provided so it did make it inconvenient when part of the group wanted to go out -when it’s an upstairs stable conversion locking people inside didn’t seem right or pulling the outside door too with a cardboard box behind to avoid it blowing open/letting the heat escape wasn’t ideal. The property took a €250 bond which was fine but the management agents £10 fee & 10days to reimburse said fee seemed excessive & not what we have experienced before

Exactly like the pictures, great place. Plenty of local recommendations in the apartment & local info. Lovely and quiet would definately recommend and stay again. Had a very good stay, it was acturately described, and good value for the area. 👍👍

Great stay, it was comfortable and great to drive into the park and ride for York. We would come back and recommend to friends.

Lovely place, great central location for local attractions incl. York, Whitby etc. Easy to find and was very clean. Would return and recommend.

Good value for money property and problem with the heating resolved very quickly through the booking agent and owner. Positive: Great location for exploring North Yorkshire. Well equipped kitchen but bit surprised that there was no kitchen roll. Negative: Could have been cleaner. Bits on the floor when we arrived and windows dirty inside and out. Shower in en-suite very small and lacking in power. Some of the information in the online property pack is out of date.

We had a great 4 day stay at the apartment. It was much bigger than I was expecting from the photos, and everything was clean and in good condition. The weather had turned cold the week we arrived, but the apartment was lovely and warm to arrive back to at the end of each day. Coffee machine was a very welcome feature in the kitchen. The host was very responsive to any questions, and very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Look out for the collection of stables and buildings on the main road and signage for the Vetinary practice. Enter car park by steep ramp. Good parking for 2 cars. No external lights in car park bring torch. Small automatic light over door on the end of the building. 2 flights of internal stairs. Good quiet location managed by a letting company. Nearest supermarket 10 minutes drive. Horse lovers dream.... race horse stables adjacent to property. Training track nearby and early mornings busy with groups of horses and riders heading for exercise. NOTE Property managed by an agency expect external agency to make contact.

The stay was fantastic, with brilliant views all round, comfortable beds, and everything we needed for our stay

Positive: Converted upper floor of an old stable block so no views to speak of - just other stable blocks and the main road. Pity we were not warned that the downstairs was being converted and contractors would be on-site during the week. That said it was otherwise very quiet - no-one around. Never saw the owners. Place was clean, kitchen well stocked. Nice touch - a proper coffee machine ( once we worked out how to work it !!) with some coffee pods left. Negative: Ensuite bathroom was very "bijoux" (cramped) and could have done with some hooks for towels and the missing shelf replacing. Rather "naff" stretch cover on the leather sofa. Drive was very short & steep which was a challenge for our low slung cars. We were told there was another entrance but it was not obvious. No external lighting at night until we reached the front door ( we were walking from a party next door). Windows could do with a clean. The agents Host & Stay were the most irritating that I have ever experienced. Far too many irrelevant & unnecessary emails ...but almost impossible to contact when one wanted to.

Very comfy and well equipped accommodation in good location for visiting the coast or country Positive: Very spacious and comfortable accommodation and well equipped. The heating was lovely and warm once we figured out how to use it. The location was fine for our requirements. We went to the coast one day and then walked into Malton another. It was lovely to see the beautiful racing horses trot by. We had a problem with a broken cupboard when we arrived but it was resolved very promptly after a short phone call to Host & Stay. Negative: The ensuite bathroom could do with an extractor fan as it got quite steamy after a shower and perhaps it's time to replace the mattresses on the single beds although the one on the double was fine.

Positive: Clean and comfortable. Good parking. Spacious well equipped. Lovely area very quiet. Nice to see the horses being exercised. Negative: Settees a little worn but very comfortable.

Fine place to stay 30 minutes from York, clean and cozy. Watch out for extra insurance fee charged at last minute! Positive: Clean, quiet, spacious, had what you need. Negative: Poor water pressure in shower. All the fire signage takes away from the homey feel of the place, a bit overkill and made us feel unsafe and at risk. Very disappointed at the surprise mandatory insurance. This was not part of the description when I booked. I believe it has been added now but I was very put off to receive and email requiring further payment for this rental. Sneaky and definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Spacious Positive: Spacious apartment in a great location for our trips to Pickering, Thornton le Dale, Goathland and Whitby. Negative: The shower in the ensuite needs some TLC. Be careful on the entrance to the property if you have a low car. There's an adjacent driveway that also accesses the property, which is not so steep. When comparing prices, note the additional £25 for damage insurance, which will be requested before details to access the property are given.

Lovely, well-equipped and comfortable property, in lovely location with great access to explore beautiful Yorkshire. Within walking distance to Malton and its local amenities. Particularly enjoyed waking up to the sound of the race horses setting out for their exercise! Would recommend highly.

The accommodation was nice and comfortable. Unfortunately, we had a towel that had a really nasty stain on it (it looked like it had fallen into a cow pat) and Host and Stay did nothing to replace this. I contacted the owner direct and she was extremely helpful but I felt that Host and Stay let everyone down.

Great place really enjoyed our stay. Positive: Great size apartment plenty of room comfortable bed ensuite a bit small but main bathroom huge great location very quiet plenty of parking fully equipped kitchen fast wifi. Negative: Having to pay home stay twenty five pound non refundable damage wavier finding out about this after the apartment was paid for or could have sent them a two hundred and fifty pound bond refundable after fourteen days minus ten pound administration fee really after having my money for nearly a month . To me this isn’t justified at all just a bit of money grabbing from home stay .

Really enjoyed staying here. Just as described and so quiet and peaceful. Only a short taxi ride into Malton for the food festival. We could have walked if we were more mobile. Would definitely stay again. Thankyou.

It was cold as only half the radiators seem to work. Very angry that despite promises to the contrary 8 days after check out we still have not had the £240 refund (minus £10 charge). Overall property was nice enough but these two issues a sorry let down.

Great host, Great location

The property was really clean and spacious. The facilities in the property were excellent. There were a few minor issues, extractor fan in bathroom not working, stitching on the sofa which i reported, but apart from that it was a safe, quiet area and definately worth staying in the property.

We enjoyed our stay. It's a 30 minute walk into Malton but there are footpaths alongside the road. The only negative comments we have is that the bathrooms were both cold (it was -4 C outside ) and the apartment was missing a bottle opener. Otherwise a very nice stay.

Pros: Interesting history of horse racing. Large apartment with a beautiful main room. Peaceful location, a 30 minute walk to Malton (not the 10 mins described). Cons: after booking we had to complete a security deposit with either a non-refundable arrangement fee of £10 or a £25 waiver. This is not on the Airbnb details, and you can't cancel Airbnb booking you lose 50%. The £60 cleaning fee is excessive. The bathrooms and kitchen were very clean but there were dead flies and ladybirds on windowsills and kitchen floor. There's no lit sign from the main road to tell you what drive to take. There is no outside lighting, key safe was difficult to find, the yard is rough underfoot, you need a torch. No central heating and only 1 small electric radiator was on when we arrived, it was freezing in bedrooms. The hot water is operated by an on /off switch. The sofa had a hole in it. No fire alarm in main room, it had been removed. WiFi doesn't work. Ok but overpriced fees

overall a lovely place to explore from, good central location , very spacious accommodation, the WiFi not so good which made planning our days a little trickier than we anticipated, but managed all in the end, would recommend

Perfect location for us.

Would 100% recommend staying here. The area around the apartment is so private and quiet day and night. It was perfect for us as we have family that live 10 minutes from the apartment. It is really big as well, such a spacious apartment. Everything was really clean and the host was really helpful with recommendations. It had everything you need. Would 100% stay here again.
