Positive: Location was good, nice and quiet. Negative: Both settees were covered in pet hairs and we had to vacuum both before we could use them.

Comfortable and well furnished house, everything was feasibly close by with parking and dog friendly. Would recommend! Positive: Great layout with some basics on arrival for the kitchen/cleaning and some nice toiletries. Negative: Was just a bit more of a walk to the heart of Whitby than we appreciated but had to weigh that up with the modern house with easy parking outside the door.

Positive: Location. Good quality kitchen equipment. Comfy sofas.Outside area (we had 2 dogs). Parking. Negative: Would have liked a washing up bowl. Shower control in en-suite needs attention. Build up of dust in some areas.

We had a great stay at 32 Welton Court in Whitby. The place itself is in a fantastic location for us. Really close to the beautiful West Cliff beach which is a real bonus for us... and the dog 😊 & a 10 minute walk down to the harbour and town (15 at our leisurely pace!). The house is really spacious and very comfy, the beds especially. Lovely clean, soft, white bed linen. Nice hot, powerful showers! We only had 2 very minor grumbles, only a very small amount of loo roll in each toilet (less than half a roll). Very nice to have a dishwasher but no dishwasher tablets. Would be great if this was provided seeing as most visitors would only use 1 or 2 max per visit. The place was clean and tidy in the most part but lots of dirty water marks on the shower screens and the shower tray in the main bathroom was dirty and some stray hairs. Easily sorted with a quick rinse but with a £60 cleaning fee as standard, I expected spotless. Overall very happy & we will definately be back again soon.

Very comfortable property with free onsite parking. Positive: The location was ideal especially as we had our family dog with us. On-site parking is a big bonus. Good range of cooking utensils if required. Negative: The outside could do with a little TLC and if the weather had been better then I think I would have bought some seat pads for the metal chairs. No ‘views’ from the property but we knew that when we chose it.

Just back from another lovely stay. Great location for dog walking and short walk into the town. Will definitely be returning such a great spot with private parking.

Positive: All great apart from the welcome email needs updating with a link that has been removed. As described below. Would recommend Negative: In the description of where to find the lockbox the email says [link removed] which was unhelpful as it was 10 pm, and raining, with young kids in tje car etc. Found them in the end though:)

Nice location, could do with some updates Positive: Pros: parking off road Close to whitby centre (& a Chinese right round the corner!) Short walk to the beach (but hilly!) Home is in good condition, good selection of utensils and cutlery/bowls etc 3 toilets! Great for a family or 3 adults haha. Quiet area Little enclosed garden for doggies (all concrete slabs) Washing line! Little extras like some washing liquid, dishwasher tablets, a cloth, tea towel etc. Free WiFi Negative: Cons: The beds are not particularly comfy and creak a lot (so does the floor/stairs) no summer bedding left out, the only option was a thick heavy winter duvet which was too much even in early September when it was still 18 degrees. No clear instructions on when payments will be taken or that you have to go around the side of the building to get in and find the key area. No freezer! Scuff marks on walls Outside lights weren't working on either side of the property. No mirror in back bedroom No wardrobe in the en suite bedroom Cobwebs in toilets and rooms and the base boards all could have done with being wiped down and the extractor fan Oven trays etc all needed washing before use En suite towel rail was coming away from the wall Says its dog friendly but dogs can't go upstairs- yet there's no way to stop them (no door, no doggie gate etc) - we had to put a big suitcase across the bottom of the stairs, luckily our dog has short legs!

We will be back and soon we hope! Positive: The location was quiet and felt safe. Lovely walk back along the sea path on a night as the sun set. The house was tidy, well presented, thoughtfully furnished and had most things we needed for our stay. Parking was great! A bonus after a long car journey. Good to have a separate room from the children and fold out bed in our room. Beautifully clean showers and bedding. Nice walk into town either along the beach or via the sea view path. The house is lovely inside and mostly well kept. We would definitely want to stay again! Negative: The hob had a damaged ring which made us a bit nervous about using it and we had not been told about it. The kitchen could do with a blind up in the sink window as the flats at the back can see in on a night. Some tongs in the kitchen would be a welcome addition, and a washing up bowl for the sink would make it easier to wash up. The chairs outside were rusty - I honestly don't think they are needed. The towel rail in the en-suite was about to come off the wall. But the biggest thing for us was the bunk bed. It needs tightening up. The whole bed moved/swayed as one of my children went to lay down for the night, and he was scared to sleep up on the top, so slept on the fold out bed in the main bedroom.

Lovely property! Peaceful and ample space inside for a family of 4. The two parking spaces were a bonus too. Would definitely stay again and hoping to go back sometime later in the year! Facilities were brilliant. Three bathrooms was a definite advantage with two teenagers. Washing machine and dishwasher too. And I liked it that you provided dish cloths, washing up liquid, tea towels and even dishwasher tablets! Only negative is similar to others comments, please clean the outdoor spaces like the patio and balcony. Luckily we didn't have the weather to use them but they both need a really good jet wash for guests to be able to use! But other than that, could not fault the property at all! Far enough away from the hectic centre but close enough to walk into town. Loved our stay and just wish we could have stayed longer!!

Lovely accommodation for our family with everything we needed. Very responsive to any issues which were dealt with promptly. Location was ideal, close to the beach and a short walk into the town. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you :0)

Fantastic location, large off street parking space which is a very big bonus in whitby, close to the beach and only a 10 minute walk in to town, ideal location for me, nice and quiet with a really nice Chinese restaurant at the end of the road. The main bedroom, the bed was really comfy so a big bonus for me. all in all the place was lovely and will definitely book again

The property was very well situated in a quiet area and within an easy walk of the West Pavilion where we were attending a function. Also great to have a private parking area. It was clean, modern and tidy and ideal for the 4 of us (all adults) 2 bathrooms plus a downstairs toilet. The kitchen was well equipped apart from there not being any wine glasses which really need to be added. An easy fix! A mirror in the smaller bedroom would be useful and also the addition of some wardrobe/hanging space in the main bedroom would help. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

Nice location and parking but very bad attention to detail in cleaning. Positive: Only the location and parking Negative: Dirty carpets, rotten smelling sink, dusty air vents in showers, unable to use TV as previous guests still logged in and couldn’t log them out, had to replace batteries in remote. Terrible customer service, was offered late check out accepted and paid and then they cancelled it, took me nearly a month to get my money back. I am still fighting to get some sort of compensation but they are very poor at responding and keep robbing me off. Now reported to Booking.com.

Lovely comfortable and spacious home in superb location Positive: Lovely spacious house with nice new furniture. Very well equipped and great to have parking at the house. Easy to access the property and was very warm and cosy on arrival. Excellent that there were two full bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. Negative: Needed to proved more coat hangers.

A wonderful stay. in a quiet location although surrounded by other properties. Positive: Location was ideal for our three night stay to attend the Whitby 60s festival a 10 mins walk away Negative: The outside lights weren't working so it was a little difficult to locate the lock when arriving back at the property in the dark but I managed.

Positive: The location is excellent a lovely walk down to the town centre. This was a spacious place to stay plus host and stay were very accommodating as I had to change dates. We had a problem with the tap but they were straight out to fix it would recommend to others.

Excellent property, as described in a great location and a good size for a family of 4. 2 bathrooms very useful plus an extra WC, comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and designated parking in Whitby is always a bonus. I only have 2 negatives about the property, which I did feel let the accommodation down- yet are easy fixes and have been mentioned in many previous reviews. There are, the weeds in the yard- this would be a nice little space to enjoy a cuppa, but the weeds clearly haven’t been weeded this season as they are huge. Also, the stains on otherwise very nice carpets, surely nothing a good carpet cleaner couldn’t sort out. It’s a shame as these are the first two things you notice when you enter the property, and have been mentioned by many guests yet not dealt with. Otherwise, the property was very clean and well equipped. The Chinese takeaway at the Met 2 mins away was lovely. We would certainly return.

We had a slight issue on leaving. I stripped the beds and the main quilt had several old stains but on reporting this they acknowledged it quickly. Nothing else negative. The property is well furnished and well equipped to a high standard.Position was perfect for us, not far from the centre but far enough to provide the peace and quiet which we like.Dog friendly with 2 car parking spaces, very desirable. Communication with the owners/managers was excellent, they couldn't do enough for us..We would look to book again with no hesitation.

We had a wonderful stay at The West Cliff Retreat. The house itself is perfect, with everything you need for a stress free stay. Very comfy beds and plenty of room. Dog friendly too, and a private parking space, which is a huge bonus for us. The location is perfect. 5 minute walk down to the beach and a leisurely 10 minute stroll down in to town. Close enough to everything in a very peaceful spot. Host & Stay are very easy to deal with and very helpful and responsive. literally nothing negative to say about this place and we will never stay anywhere else in Whitby.

Great location and really peaceful. Just a minute to the cliff tops and approx 10 mins into the town. Great to have a private parking space too. The apartment was ok, the beds and sofas were comfortable, but the carpets had stains on and there were someone else's dog hairs on the back of the sofas. There was no freezer space within the fridge, which seemed strange. It was hot when we went and we would have liked somewhere to put ice cubes. Equally, we were left just a couple of dishwasher tablets, which only saw us through to mid week. The little yard area is a nice space, but needs tidying up (there were a lot of weeds) and it would benefit from having an outside tap with it being dog friendly accommodation. Overall a good location, but but expensive for what it was.

Fantastic

Great spot to stay, very close to the sea front & whales bone attraction. Everything you could need for a short stay. Carpets had many stains, and cobwebs in various places which were mentioned in other reviews. Would stay again.

We had a fab stay in this property on the west cliff. Showers were immense, lovely open plan living room and parking was a real bonus! Oh and beds so comfy ☺️

Really enjoyable

Disappointed don’t think Host & Stay inspect after cleaners been in… Positive: Warm, Modern spacious with parking for 2 cars Negative: Wasn’t clean, dust everywhere & both showers had black mould. Complained to host & stay. We bought cleaning materials & cleaned ourselves as one of our party has low immune illness & could not risk mould & dirt. A few kitchen cupboard doors were loose. Blinds in small bedroom we’re broken. No wardrobe in main bedroom. Leaking radiator had to fetch maintenance as worried it would flood. Slippy mouldy slabs outside with multiple weeds…needs serious maintenance & deep cleaning..

Excellent stay, highly recommended Positive: A fabulous property, newly refurbished, comfortable, clean, very good location, clear and responsive communication. We would stay here again without a doubt Negative: An earlier check in time would have been nice- 4pm a bit late. You could pay for this, but 3pm with no extra charge would be reasonable

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. The location is excellent being only five minutes walk to the beach but still easy walking distance to the centre of Whitby. The apartment itself is very comfortable and well equipped. Everywhere was clean and tidy. It was also very warm which was important because it was absolutely freezing while we were in Whitby. Next time we visit Whitby we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Perfect for walking Whitby.. quite a few steps to deal with getting around the town but the home stay was perfectly clean with excellent linen and towels. Water pressure in the bathrooms was great, my only issue is soft mattresses . But this is a holiday home, and very comfortable for the purpose. Thank you

Positive: The bed was very comfortable. 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. Nice pictures on the walls. Quiet location. Being able to park the car outside. Negative: Fridge door handle dropped off straight away. Difficult to open the fridge. Spotlight on the wall on the block across road shining into our bedroom window at night.

Easy great break Positive: Easy to find and the location Negative: We could see that some house martins are nesting in the area and this property along with others have had blocked off any chance of nest building

perfect location, sea just is just a 2 minutes walk. lots of space. just could pay more attention to kitchen and supply with more things but other then that it's all good.

Lovey stay 💓 Positive: Fantastic communication with host. Loved the location 👌 Great (free) parking for 2 vehicles Complementary tea,coffee and milk. Exceptionally good quality towels. Crisp fresh bedding Great shower facilities with complimentary toiletries. Negative: The accommodation needs a little TLC. Couple of holes in the wall need repairs, carpet in kitchen needs cleaning or replacing and a lick of paint wouldn't hurt. We stripped the beds and found that the actual quilts we're quiet stained.

We had an amazing stay in this lovely, clean, spacious holiday home. It has everything we needed including parking on the premises. Excellent location in walking distance of everything.

OKish Positive: Very convenient location Negative: Cleanliness. Lounge carpet badly stained, all surfaces not cleaned, weeds all over terrace area, rusty outdoor furniture to rear and balcony needs throwing out, stinking mop in downstairs toilet. TLC needed overall. Upstairs beds and baths fine although both shower controllers v difficult to turn and probably break soon. Maybe absentee owner who isnt aware of any of the above?

Good but stained duvets was disappointing Positive: 2 full bathrooms as well as downstairs toilet, outdoor space, private parking for 2 cars, perfect location Negative: Stained duvets in both bedrooms (which we only saw when we stripped the bedsheets before leaving)!

Had a great stay at Whitby at west cliff retreat the house was very clean very comfortable and great car parking and out door space would definitely stay there again it was a beautiful peaceful place to stay definitely recommend ☺️

Whitby Positive: Location was great. Beds comfy. Good showers. Comfortable accommodation. Would stay again. Easy to book and to get into accommodation. Negative: Outside area at back had lots of weeds. Tables and chairs were rusty and need replacing. There was a shortage of glassware (wine glasses) & cutlery. All easy to remedy stuff which would make it a lot more welcoming. A freezer drawer in the fridge would be nice.

West cliffe retreat Positive: Lovely retreat it was lovely and warm when we walked in and felt very homely Negative: The phone signal in whitby was awful however when i tried to use the wifi in the property it would not connect i checked the password 3 times but it still insisted that the password was incorrect.

Great location close to the beach and town. Had everything we needed to make a great few days away. Positive: Convenient location. Spacious. Good facilities. Cleanliness. Negative: Nothing, all was good.

Overall a decent stay Positive: Stayed here before, nice living area with all facilities, comfy beds and handy for the beach. Negative: Just needs a little tlc if we are being honest. When we went to get the key from the safe box we were greeted with the back gate hanging half off, this needs repairing asap as it really does look bad!

Generally nice house Positive: Well laid out house with everything we needed. The location is good overall and the room layout is excellent. The house was also warm and cosy. The parking is great. Negative: The house is very tired. It needs a coat of paint, both in and out. The outside is very scruffy. Also the security lights across the road light up the bedroom throughout the night. Finally the bathrooms desperately need blinds. They're quite embarrassing to use at night.

Great base! Positive: The location was walking distance of the town. The property was a great base for exploring nearby visitor attractions. We had everything we needed to prepare simple meals. Negative: The outdoor furniture was uncomfortable so not suitable for eating outside.

Short walk into Whitby with lots of parking Positive: Lovely 2 bedroom house in a very quiet and safe area with lots of parking. The toiletries were a nice touch. The kitchen had everything you needed and 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets is great. Negative: The outside lights didn’t work so it was quite tricky to work the key safe in the dark. The outside furniture is a bit old and rusty and the patio are was a bit neglected. The printed info for the Wi-Fi has the wrong password but we worked it out in the end.

We had a great stay at this property overall. It was a little confusing to find but once we did it was really easy to access the property. It was in a great location 2 minutes walk from the beach and just a 10 minute walk into Whitby. There is wifi at the property but the password provided was incorrect and so we couldn’t access it for the first day of our stay. This wouldn’t have been an issue but the signal in the area is terrible so we couldn’t use our data either to search for things to do or make restaurants bookings etc. I contacted host and stay about this but because they were quite slow to respond and told me to restart my phone and forget the network etc & to put the same password in which again didn’t work. In the end I just checked the router for the password and tried that and it worked so password details need updating. Overall we had a lovely stay.

Ok, but the location needs some TLC Positive: Very comfortable, good location. Negative: Wi-Fi didn’t work. Fridge needs a freezer compartment. Outside needs some work, Lots of weeds and the outdoor furniture was rusty, so you did not want to use it.

Lovely house in a good location with plenty to do within walking distance. Positive: Lovely house, good location. Everything you need is supplied. Very pleased. Negative: Everything was good just a couple of things nighled. No bbq when advertised as having one, we were a bit disappointed with that. The bedrooms needed a more thorough dust but other than that very happy.

Whitby trip Positive: Nice spacious, on-suite in main bedroom, three toilet, 0.8miles from town centre, secure parking. Negative: Couple of minor maintenance issues, wifi code incorrect on sign, not much in area close to dwelling.

Okay could have the potential to be much better with a little bit of effort Positive: Location was good, beds comfy, showers nice. Negative: Unfortunately we didn't get of to a good start, when we arrived the property was dirty. We called to let them know, so they sent out a cleaner who cleaned a second time and still missed 50%of the dirt we complained about. We decided to buy our own cleaning products to do it ourselves. Stains on the carpets. Hair and sand on the sofas. Dried on food on the sofa cushions. Pet hair set off my allergies. Grease on the hob. Bin lid dirty.Sticky food on the tables. I brought a nice candle to make the place smell better. No freezer compartment for ice. No wine glasses. No drying rack. And no shevels or surfaces to put belongings on. No games or anything. Very basic. Outside area was also un-kept. I always use Sykes cottages so this is first time using another agency. For the same price I could have got a better equipped and cleaner property with Sykes so I won't be using this company again.

Positive: Good WiFi, very comfortable beds, very good shower. Close to nice walks. Negative: On arrival it was disappointing to see an unkempt exterior, weeds and rusty furniture. The windows and interior glass table & mirrors were very dirty. £60 for cleaning was extortionate as it wasn't very clean. The tables had sticky rings on and there is dust and crumbs under the sofa cushions. There needs to be a shelf in the showers and hooks as there is nowhere to put things. The place needs a thorough clean and a freshen up.

The house was warm and comfortable-some areas could have done with attention Eg shower in en suite needed extra cleaning and the cooker hood was in pieces? Not enough glasses - so I had to buy some! Great location due to walking distance to beach and Whitby centre.

Great location and the property looks just like the photos. Arrival instructions very clear and access via the key box was easy. Unfortunately I don’t think the place house had been cleaned after the previous guests. Informed the host who offered to send cleaners round but we had already dealt with it. After reading a few other reviews & the host responses I assumed that the points mentioned would have been dealt with…they haven’t…the property needs a some TLC and the furniture in the rear yard and on the balcony is really way below what you would expect for the price you pay. On the positive side the parking for 2 cars immediately outside is a massive bonus. I would definitely return but would like to see the host positively action some of the points raised in the feedback.

Positive: Within walking distance to main shopping area, very close to the beach and a great Chinese restaurant nearby for dining in or takeaway. Parking outside the accomodation was ideal as can struggle for parking in Whitby. Would definitely recommend and would book again. Negative: Nothing to dislike, as everything just as described.

Great stay Positive: Central location, quiet , parking, everything you need

Reasonable property but would not use Host & Stay again Positive: The property is in a convenient location for the pavilion end of Whitby. It was generally pleasant with modern decor and furnished to a good standard, two shower rooms (one en-suite) and a third toilet downstairs. Negative: Although the price was advertised on Booking.com as all inclusive with no taxes or surcharges, Host & Stay sprung a £10 non-refundable "administration charge" for them to take my deposit. When I queried this, they said it was refundable and I only proceeded with the booking once they had put this in writing. When the stay was complete, Host & Stay refunded the deposit minus the administration charge. Then started weeks of chasing and I had to provide their earlier email as proof when they insisted they don't normally refund this. In the end it took 4 weeks to get my deposit back. I would never book another Host & Stay property. In terms of the property itself, there was little storage space, so having somewhere to hang clothes would have been nice. The heating was also slightly tempermantal with the Hive controller randomly resetting itself.
