We had a lovely stay. Amazing location, good walks and pubs. Highly recommended house too

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

The cottage is lovely and was very clean. Easy access to the pub with great food was a bonus. We had a few glitches with communications on parking and internet access.

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

A lovely cottage, in a great location.

GuestAirbnbOct 2026

Lovely house in a great location. Lots of thoughtful touches. Would happily stay again.

SarahBooking.comSep 2026

Enjoyable short break Positive: Waterleap is a pretty stone built cottage in a lovely setting. The beds are comfy and the kitchen is well equipped. The village has two nice eating places, a handy shop and is near the railway station. We felt at home and would be happy to stay again. Negative: The back garden could do with weeding and a tidy up and the hoover isn't working well.

MelvinVrboAug 2026

Lovely cottage and ideal location.Good communication and great walks.

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a great location to explore Northumberland and Hadrian's Wall country. We took advantage of the proximity of the local railway station which is only a 3 minute walk across the bridge and went into Newcastle and to Hexham leaving the car behind for those days. Very comfortable beds and good kitchen facilities. There have been previous comments about the tight entrance for cars. On arrival the driveway does appear to be very narrow but we parked up the road and went back to the driveway and worked out that we just needed to approach from the direction of the pub and swing right out to get the correct angle into the drive. After that it was absolutely fine and we parked with no problem so don't be put off by that. Hosts were very responsive as we had a few problems getting access to the house information on line when we arrived but this was sorted out within 24 hours.

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

Beautiful place in the stunning Northumberland countryside. Loved how close it was to country walks and the river and the pubs were so close by too with a welcoming and warm atmosphere. More importantly, the cottage felt so homely straight away.

GuestAirbnbJul 2025

Nice, clean cottage in a good village location. The bed and sofa were very comfortable and there are some nice dog walks from the cottage. Some areas of the cottage could do with a little refresh (e.g. the garden / patio area), but all in we thought this was a nice Airbnb at a fair price - would stay again!

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

Great location plenty to do locally and a local shop across the road. Two pubs in village, we used the White Swan which was very welcoming, dogs allowed in beer garden and food was excellent and large portions. Cottage was very comfortable, beds were really comfortable with nice linen and cottage kept us really cool in the heatwave. Had a great weekend away.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

Perfect spot for a little countryside getaway

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Had a little trouble finding where to park on arrival. Lovely and clean accommodation Great for a short day. Recommended.

BlackBooking.comMay 2025

Positive: Convenient to visit family Negative: Just the right size for our needs.

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

Fantastic place and wonderful host. Will hopefully book this place again!

williamBooking.comMay 2025

Positive: All we loved the house, front and back garden, the location, We could stay there forever. Negative: We didn't want to leave.

TimBooking.comMay 2025

Positive: Delightful cosy well equipped cottage in quiet village. Negative: Main room lighting too dim to read a book in the evening. Host and Stay management agent were hopeless.

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

Gorgeous character cottage, beautifully decorated.

AndyR_95Booking.comApr 2025

Very comfortable and dog friendly Positive: Location. 300m from the river Tyne, and close to prudhoe railway station. The property was generally well equipped and serviced . The swan Inn nearest pub was very well used. Hadrian's wall is also close by Negative: I can foresee problems with the local youths congregating outside by the monument . Road closure in place towards prudhoe

GuestAirbnbApr 2025

Waterleap is a delightful little cottage, immaculately clean, everything you would need, I always like a decent sized gin goblet & coffee mug, Waterleap has both!! We slept in the larger bedroom, the bed was extremely comfortable & lovely crisp bedding. Walking over the River Tyne on the pedestrian bridge was interesting, great for our little dog Poppy. We throughly enjoyed our time at Waterleap & would stay again.

NeilBooking.comApr 2025

Perfect location Positive: We found the property quite easy in the dark and went to the front door unfortunately the lock box for the key is at the back of the cottage Which is down an access off the Main Street. There is also parking behind the house, but the entrance is tight between two stone walls The property was perfect for the 3 of us and our little dog, it was spotlessly clean and well furnished We only used the microwave, kettle and coffee machine in the kitchen As we ate at the pub just up the street The shower worked perfectly good temperature We also found the cottage was very quiet no road noise at all Newcastle is easily reached across the bridge where there is the train station Negative: Nothing really

CarolVrboMar 2025

Lovely cottage and location We enjoyed our stay very much. The decor and furnishings are very good and the outlook very relaxing. The only negative was the bins, being told we would be fined 100 if we put the wrong rubbish in the wrong bins made me a bit paranoid. It would be helpful to have some physical information to hand rather than the email we received as different areas of the country recycle differently. The online guide was helpful but it would have been good to have a bit more local info re walks etc. overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

CrosbyBooking.comMar 2025

Lovely cosy place to stay. Positive: Lovely clean cottage. Comfortable stay and amenities provided. Negative: No aerial on the Tv so could not watch satellite Tv. Also slightly hard to find the entrance so better instructions could be provided. You can hear the neighbours but they were not too loud so wasn’t too disturbing.

GuestAirbnbMar 2025

We had a great weekend stay in Waterleap Cottage. It's a beautiful setting, right by the river and perfectly sized for three of us. Warm and cosy and feels a long way from the city but really easy to get into Newcastle for great bars and restaurants. A well supplied kitchen and comfortable sofas for relaxing!

GuestAirbnbMar 2025

nice place, nice area

ClaireBooking.comMar 2025

Positive: Cottage was lovely, very clean and tidy everything you needed Negative: Nightmare to find even when I rang it didn't help thankfully the landlord of the pub helped us. Terrible pillows

GuestAirbnbMar 2025

I didn't get my number and check in details when told I would, and had to phone home stay Parking a bit difficult with the narrow lane and turning to get into the lane a bit tight.

WendyBooking.comFeb 2025

Lovely cosy cottage Positive: Perfectly located for the pottery course we were attending. Very comfortable Negative: It was cold when we arrived and took a few hours to warm up. Bulbs in the lounge and larger bedroom too dim

GaynorBooking.comJan 2025

Really enjoyed our new years stay Positive: Lovely comfortable cottage , in a lovely area, with a shop and local pub and restaurant on the doorstep Negative: Would have liked some wood or kindling to make a fire and also a washing machine would have been useful

GuestAirbnbJan 2025

This Airbnb is a gem. The living space, bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen are great. Wifi is fast. The property is located very close to the Prudhoe train stop, which makes getting to Newcastle super simple. My wife and I have stayed at this property twice now, and we will stay here again whenever we visit family again.

KateBooking.comDec 2024

Positive: Gorgeous cottage, lovely decor. Loved the wood burning stove. The sofas were super comfy Negative: Was all great really but the kitchen tiled floor is very cold in winter so needs a mat - also needs a doormat to keep the kitchen floor clean.

GuestAirbnbDec 2024

felt right at home

GuestAirbnbDec 2024

Lovely place!

GuestAirbnbDec 2024

ACCESS INSTRUCTIONS ARE ABSOLUTELY USELESS AND THE CALL CENTRE WEREN'T MUCH HELP EITHER

GuestAirbnbDec 2024

Really enjoyed our stay, very cosy cottage in a lovely location. We found it hard to find the lockbox but a great stay nonetheless.

GuestAirbnbNov 2024

Lovely stay. Clean home with everything you need. A small shop opposite the driveway which is useful for essentials you might need. The driveway is tight as some other reviews mention, but was perfectly fine for both our cars with ample parking space. Spacious bedrooms allowed us room for our travel cot.

CathyBooking.comNov 2024

Positive: Lovely cottage in a handy location next to a mainline station between Newcastle and Carlisle with walks from the cottage door! The rooms were very well designed with plenty of space for 3-4 people to relax. Good sized supermarket in Prudhoe for provisions making it easy to top up. The White Swan PH, (almost next door) was absolutely delightful and well recommended by us for drinks and food! Their service was outstanding. We loved very much our stay in Ovington. Negative: TV was not easy to operate, possibly the batteries were low but it could have certainly benefitted from some basic instructions. Would have been useful to have a few more dishwasher tablets as only 1 was provided. Please provide instructions for the recycling - we were unclear and followed the lead of neighbours.

ShaunBooking.comNov 2024

Positive: Location Negative: No heating or hot water

GuestAirbnbNov 2024

This is a lovely cottage, in a great location - very close to the beautiful Tyne river, a few minutes walk from a railway station, a few yards from a good general store and a friendly pub with good food. We found it clean and welcoming.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

The house is as described - the location is great, good garden for our dog, comfy beds. Finding the parking entrance is tricky - I suggest parking by the church and walking to work out which lane you drive into - it's almost opposite the shop, between 2 stone walls and very narrow. The property is run by a large rental company Host and Stay. This is fine if you want a rental that has no frills and little personality. I was on my guard when I was asked to pay for insurance upfront and also charged £60 for cleaning for 2 people for 2 nights. The response by their employees is quick but they obviously don't really know the individual properties very well. Kitchen supplies are limited - a few sachets of milk etc. Lots of little things missing that make a place special. All info was supplied online except the wifi password that you can find framed by the TV. It was fine for what we needed but I'll avoid places run by large companies in the future.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

A lovely cosy cottage, but it would have helped our arrival if we'd known that access is through a narrow gateway on Main Road, not where satnav took us to. Lovely comfy beds, kitchen has plenty of equipment. There were a few niggles but Host and Stay were very quick and helpful in solving them. Don't miss the White Swan, two minutes walk away, the food was excellent. The church across the road is interesting, too, and Prudhoe is just across the river, with a Co-op supermarket.

GuestAirbnbSep 2024

I saw other reviews about the tight parking and they weren’t wrong, two new tyres and some body work later… Other than that, the place was great for what we needed.

JeremyBooking.comSep 2024

Great cottage & hosts Positive: Lovely cottage in a great village in the Tyne valley

GuestAirbnbSep 2024

Great cottage, just the right size for us. Plenty of areas to walk the dog. Riverside cafe over the bridge towards Prudhoe is dog friendly and lovely food, generous size potions. The pub 2 minutes walk from the cottage ( swan inn) has amazing food and also do takeaway:) We had a great time. Would definitely stay again.

GuestAirbnbAug 2024

What a fantastic cottage. Beautiful location and very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Great value and would love to come back.

ElizabethBooking.comAug 2024

Great location. Lovely cottage Positive: Great location. Lovely cottage. Negative: The mandatory insurance when we already had travel insurance.

RachealBooking.comAug 2024

It was very relaxing in a beautiful cottage and beautiful surroundings Positive: It was beautiful and comfortable everything we needed for our short stay.modern but cozy

PaulineBooking.comJul 2024

Wonderful Positive: Location. Cleanliness, little extras. It was perfect. Negative: Accessibility

SimonBooking.comJul 2024

Adequate enough Positive: Good location. Village had a shop across the road and a pub 200 yds away. Good communication from agency, liked the online information that was sent beforehand. Negative: Smaller than was expecting, particularly the kitchen. Could have been more equipped also. Yes it's for 4 people, but only having 4 of most things means constantly washing up. Not enough room to get around dining table also.

GuestAirbnbJun 2024

A lovely cottage in a picturesque village. Kitchen had everything we needed. Living room cosy, bedrooms neat and beds comfortable. Parking was a little difficult with two cars, the lane to get to the parking for the property is quite tight.

NicolasBooking.comMay 2024

We enjoyed our stay in Waterleap cottage overall and would recommend it to others. Just a few tweaks to make it a perfec Positive: The cottage was lovely, clean and well decorated, everything you would need in the kitchen, location was good , plenty of outside space rear garden is a sun trap. Negative: The entrance to the parking is a little challenging from the main road. The gardens were in need of some attention, weeding and tidying up as it’s nearly June . No plugs in the kitchen and bathroom sinks, it would have been helpful to be able to wash up a few pots without having to use the dishwasher. The amount of text from Home Stay becomes intrusive and not necessary.

SharonBooking.comMay 2024
AlexandraBooking.comApr 2024

Great house in an excellent location. Positive: Lovely house and in a great location for the station and surrounding area.

HazelBooking.comApr 2024

Lovely stay but too many messages Positive: It was clean and had everything required . Negative: It wasn’t the property we didn’t like but the number of messages received from point of booking to leaving was far too many . Also to be told on 31st march we need to pay a £25 insurance fee ( non refundable) otherwise the booking wouldn’t be confirmed was a shock . I’m addition the instructions regards recycling was a bit much …..

MichelleBooking.comApr 2024

Lovely stay with the family Positive: Location was perfect for the purpose of our stay, lovely cottage Negative: Couldn’t work the TV but it wasn’t a problem as we were socialising anyway

AliceBooking.comApr 2024

Positive: The house was comfortable Negative: No plugs in bathroom sink and kitchen sink thus difficult to wash up pots and put in contact lenses

GuestAirbnbMar 2024

Lovely little cottage! Very clean and great walking as right in front is the Tyne. Only minor issue was there was no secure garden for the dog as the fence panels we missing but we did visit in march and I imagine is on the list to be done. Would stay again!

Very good location for work. Bed was very comfortable. A home away from home ;-) Positive: Everthing Negative: Nothing

46Booking.comFeb 2024

Very good location for work. Bed was very comfortable. A home away from home ;-) Positive: Very close to work and pub food was lovely too. Negative: Nothing

GuestAirbnbFeb 2024

We had the most beautiful stay, the cottage was even more beautiful in reality. The don’t show how warm, cosy and welcoming the place is! Everything is a walk away, shop across the road, warm welcoming pub just a bit further up the road. That serves great food and atmosphere. Your outlook from the garden is a beautiful church and in-front of the property is a walk across the bridge to a nature reserve which has a lovely river walk, cafe and toilets. We will definitely stay again and recommend you stay here too.

a beautiful cottage with lovely surroundings and fabulous walks. we stayed here to catch up with our daughter who lives fairly close and we found this little cottage perfect for our needs.

GuestAirbnbNov 2023

Held off leaving feedback as I wanted to give them a fair chance to deal with my complaint. Now having chased after waiting 2 weeks, I am leaving feedback I hoped I wouldn’t have to. The cottage was terribly grubby. 2 kitchen cupboards scattered with mouse droppings which I find unacceptable. Dirty kitchen utensils put back on shelves, grubby oven & drawers, old cobwebs and dust in every radiator & fan. A pot outside the door full of old cigarette butts. We had our 2 young children with us and I felt uncomfortable with the lack of hygiene in the cottage. I wouldn’t be happy with this at home and I certainly feel when I am paying to stay somewhere let out by a professional company, I expect much higher standards to be met. I will say the company were very responsive and provided helpful info in a downloadable PDF. It was hard to locate using the directions provided so a sign at the end of the (very narrow!) drive would have been helpful.

GuestAirbnbOct 2023

Was an ideal spot for us as we had a family funeral at the church and a get together at the White Swan. We had driven up from Norwich and another family member came from Spain. Plenty of room for us to sit with a glass of wine and remember all the things that happened with our dearly departed Mother who lived in the village. It felt very familiar and homely. Thank you

HobsonBooking.comOct 2023

ok Negative: Bathroom had mould around the bath and the cottage could do with freshening up.

KatyBooking.comAug 2023

Very well located, cosy cottage and very impressed overall! Positive: Great location, very well decorated and comfortable beds! Negative: My only disappointment was that we really needed a washing machine!

GuestAirbnbAug 2023

It suited our needs, accommodation for attending a wedding. It was difficult to find the entrance to car parking as we arrived in the dark, more detailed instructions would have been helpful. An inside doormat would have made it easier to keep the floor clean too.

GuestAirbnbJul 2023

Lovely cottage with a sense of history. Nice location near a pub and local railway station. A good playground for children just across the bridge. Good that there was a supply of coffee available. Would stay there again as it was close to family.

GuestAirbnbJul 2023

Nice compact cottage in a pretty location obtaining everything we needed for a few nights. However it wasn’t very clean! Hair on the walls in the shower, dirty bathroom, stained cushion covers and thick dust under the beds and on the faux plants. Instructions on how to get there/get in very vague and the person we spoke to from the letting company wasn’t very helpful.

SarahBooking.comJun 2023

Beautiful cottage in a unique location! Positive: Gorgeous location next to the bridge. All the crockery and cutlery etc you would have at home, lovely cottage! Negative: There were few maintenance issues. Mouldy shower sealant, wonky toilet seat.

GuestAirbnbJun 2023

A home from home in beautiful surroundings with stylish decor. Everything you need situated in an idyllic village.

GuestAirbnbJun 2023

lovely and just what we wanted

GuestAirbnbJun 2023

Needs maintenance. Garden and patio overgrown with weeds so didn’t feel as relaxed sitting out . We had to clean down the garden furniture to be able to sit on it as had months of dust and cobwebs on it. Mould in bathroom and in some kitchen cupboards. It is actually quite dark and cold in cottage. We could only watch Netflix as kicked out trying others and froze quite afew times. Getting parked behind cottage in the parking space is very tight, not much room to get into the back especially for big cars and really overgrown weeds in part of spaces. It’s the first time that I’ve stayed in a cottage in the uk and it will be the last time. In my opinion definitely not worth the price of over £600 for 4 nights

DavidVrboMay 2023

Comfortable & good location Overall nice, comfortable and excellent location. Garden needs attention and some kitchen utensils require replacement. However despite this we would visit again if needed to be in the area again.

work based trip, comfy, warm cottage, will definetely use again Positive: Ideal location to explore the North East Negative: Parking a little tight, Roadworks directly outside the entrance did n't help matters

GuestAirbnbApr 2023

The cottage was smaller than it looks on the pictures but was good for 3 nights.

GuestAirbnbMar 2023

CarolynBooking.comFeb 2023

Positive: Very clean, cosy and plenty hot water for 4 adults. Problem with dishwasher but immediate action was taken to resolve. Negative: No dishwashing liquid and only 2 dishwater tablets provided for 3 night stay.

GuestAirbnbJan 2023

A beautiful property in a great location. Very difficult to locate in the dark but the host (agency) was helpful and patient in helping me gain access. Country village with good pub and lots of walks for the dog!

GuestAirbnbJan 2023

A lovely cottage in a great place to access country side or city. Hopefully will be back.

GuestAirbnbJan 2023

GuestAirbnbDec 2022

Had trouble with lack of hot water. Issue exacerbated after a 3 hr walk

GuestAirbnbDec 2022

Unfortunately the place was cold & dirty on arrival, the hosts were extremely apologetic and offered to arrange a cleaner but for ease & comfort we chose to clean ourselves. The place is a little tired decor but very quiet, cosy and comfortable - the log burner, sofas and bed are perfect after a long day

GuestAirbnbSep 2022

Lovely little well appointed cottage nestled in a cute small village, situated near a pub that serves great food and had a take away menu and well stocked corner shop both very close.

LindsayBooking.comSep 2022

Lovely stay in pretty villlage Positive: Pretty cottage in a mostly quiet location, well equipped, private and comfortable Negative: At the front was a small village green type area, secluded and used one evening by local teenagers shouting screaming and drinking until late, leaving litter behind them.

GuestAirbnbAug 2022

Loved our stay at Waterleap cottage Ovingham is a lovely little village with Prudhoe nearby if wanting the train / some shops great base for exploring Northumberland

KathleenBooking.comAug 2022

Positive: Very comfortable dog friendly cottage with lots of local walks. Would highly recommend. Negative: There is no washing machine.

GuestAirbnbJul 2022

Postcard English cottage Good location

GavinBooking.comJul 2022

Good place to explore Northumberland with your dog Positive: Good village location, within easy walking distance of local shop and good pub. Easy access to the A69 for exploring Northumberland. Very comfortable beds. Negative: The 2 keys needed to get into the property were not in the lock box. Took a tiring 30 minutes of phone calls to finally get in. It would have been nice if the cottage garden had been better kept.

GuestAirbnbJun 2022

This has to be the best holiday house we've ever stayed in! Quintessentially English. Set in a small friendly village right beside the River Tyne. The Goose Fair Cross is right outside the front of the house and the local church with Saxon tower is just over the wall. This house has EVERYTHING you need for a holiday house. Pretty front garden, quiet, cosy but spacious living room with stove (which we didn't need with the lovely weather we had), exceptionally well appointed kitchen, luxurious bedrooms with the most comfy, large bed and harmonious furnishings and pictures etc. Plenty of parking at the back (just square up for the quite narrow opening), back yard with outside furniture and outside lights. This was ideal for us to meet up safely outside with family who live locally in a more Covid safe way. Everyone in the village is really friendly and there is an amazing walk in native woodland nearby. We didn't have time to try the White Swan next door but did enjoy using the blue tooth speakers to play music on and the English Cottage vibe. A gem of a holiday house.
