Our stay at Uggleby House was just what we were hoping for, a large open living area downstairs for our family gathering with a large dining table etc.Bedrooms were clean and comfortable with three bathrooms and the added bonus of a downstairs toilet. We would certainly stay here again.

Myself and my family enjoyed our stay at this lovely presented holiday home. The location was perfect as we were only a 10 minute drive from Whitby town centre. The home was very well presented, clean and warm. The bedrooms were great sizes, and the main living area suited us perfectly, as there was 8 of us in total. I would recommend this home for the location, space and cleanliness. Many thanks

Great place to stay and big enough for 6 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby. Couldn’t fault it!

Overall our stay was lovely the house is in a lovely location and it was big enough for all the family. The open space downstairs is perfect for a family gathering. However the dining table is not fit for purpose. Its bent in the middle so any family would struggle to all have a meal on it which is a shame. Only the two front hobs on the oven worked too making it difficult to cook a full meal. Would recommend The Waterside at Chainbridge, we ate here twice it was amazing!! Fell in love with this place, food is excellent!! Unfortunately downside being run/owned by a company, I personally don't feel like you get the same customer service as you do with a private owner. In all the years I have been staying with air bnb, all private owners have been very accommodating when asking for a slightly earlier check in, more so now we have a baby. Host & Stay wanted to charge through the earth for varies times to check in early. Check ins seem to have got later since Covid and never changed.

Great home in a wonderful spot to explore Yorkshire. Host was really receptive with an issue we flagged with the fridge on arrival - so thank you! Highly recommend! Only improvement would be to have a few more cups/glasses and plates as tight for a party of 7 including kids, plus we realised only half the hobs were working (not a problem, but good to know) Thanks again for a wonderful stay! Really great stay with my wife and family , thank you and we will return Positive: Really nice property , spacious and fully accommodated the family and was in a great location , nice and clean , well done to the maintenance team, thank you. Negative: I am an right leg below knee amputee, was a be bit tricky to get into the master shower as there was no grab handle , so I had to use the much smaller shower & it was a tight fit with a shower chair which I have to use, the bottom stairs step was extended out , tripped a few times on that & family guests also stumbled.

Lounge kitchen diner setup is great for a large group Utility room and toilet downstairs is better setup than little beck property Both en-suite bathroom are good however the one on the first floor is much more spacious Negative: 1 saucepan short couple of stains on the carpet and water mark stain on the ceiling Tray in fridge cracked but not fully broken door on fridge has unclipped from the inside door Did not impact our stay However the deposit is high and these are easily fixed in an hour

Perfect for a family getaway! Positive: We visited for 2 nights as a family of 6- such a lovely house to stay in with great facilities and in a great location for visiting Whitby and surrounding areas! The garden was lovely and the house was so tidy- our whole stay had such a cosy autumn feel! Plenty of restaurants and pubs a short drive away if you’d rather eat out too! Plenty of parking space on the driveway to the house too! Ideal for 2 large cars! Self check in was made super easy with great communication from the host! Negative: A few wear and tear marks throughout the house but didn’t affect our stay at all!

We had a lovely weekend and the accommodation was fantastic, perfect for our family. The open plan downstairs was a great space for everyone, all the bedrooms had been nicely done and the property was clean. The only issue we had was not enough towels were provided for everyone. My stay with Host & Stay listing was located in lovely area, very close access to the beach and shops. Beautiful house and interior design. The one down side was the small damages around the house. I had to notify Host & Stay to ensure it doesn’t affect my damage insurance. Which was any unexpected extra cost that you need. The kitchen oven and Hob was not cleaned before our arrival. Pots and plates very dirty. We asked for a cleaner and was told that cleaner would come and no cleaner came to clean the kitchen. Overall a lovely stay with family.

We had a lovely family stay at this property. The house was great, it was spacious and exactly as the photos. The location was lovely, and it was really easy to get the bus into Whitby. Hosts were responsive and gave a useful detailed guide on the property and local areas. Overall a fantastic place, would recommend.

A spacious, luxurious property which offers a great space for a group of friends or family to get together. The hosts sent clear instructions and check in with the lockbox was quick and easy. The property was clean and had all the amenities described. The village setting was lovely and the garden was a good size for our dog to wander round. There are a few signs of wear and tear in the property and we would have preferred check out to be 11am, but we would definitely stay again and recommend this place to others!

Lovely part of the country to explore Positive: Spacious and good location Negative: Rather tired, would benefit from some improvements, but a good space for 3 couples. Quiet and walkable to local pubs and bodying lake, which were all great. There were no coasters or mats, tea towels or hand towel in bathroom, which was difficult. We contacted the company several times, who did not respond until the last day, offering the items, however these did not materialise. Large stain on carpet in bedroom, blind broken in bedroom, but otherwise good.

Great modern property in beautiful quaint village. Good access to a number of great resorts. Lovely little cafe walking distance nice food and great service. Would stay again at this property if heading to Whitby. Was 5 adults and a dog plenty of space and ample parking

A spacious, welcoming clean property and a great base for visiting the local area Positive: Spacious, attractive and clean accommodation for 6 adults. In a great location for visiting Whitby and other local places of interest. Comfortable beds in lovely bedrooms. Negative: Small, basic changes, several of which have been mentioned in past reviews, would make this accommodation perfect... Supplying a pair of oven gloves, supplying a hand towel in the kitchen and downstairs toilet, supplying a large 4th pan in the kitchen as the 2 small and 1 larger pan are inadequate for cooking for up to 7 people, supplying 7 small tumbler glasses for breakfast etc as only wine, flute and 4 pint glasses are provided, removing the large weeds on the back patio as they spoil an attractive property.

This was a great place to stay for a couple of nights in a beautiful location in a small village outside Whitby, for 6 adults, a child and a dog! The rooms were all spacious for the couples and had ensuites which was great. The downstairs room main living room and kitchen area again very spacious and a lovely place to chill on an evening. Kitchen was well equipped and had everything you needed apart from oven gloves but made do with a tea towel. All rooms were spotless on arrival so can’t fault the cleanliness. Would definitely recommend.

Nice open plan house but a few negatives Positive: Great location, modern and big enough for the extended family. Two ensuite bathrooms which were handy plus an enclosed garden which we unfortunately couldn’t use. Nice and clean inside the property though. Negative: Previous occupiers dog mess all over the garden so couldn’t let our dogs on it. Heating didn’t work properly, boiling upstairs but downstairs was very cold as we had snow. Radiators never got warm. No basics like scissors or oven gloves. Badly stained carpets which were dirty. Needs a new mattress on the bed on the second floor. It was so uncomfortable.

House & location was fantastic, however was not cleaned throughly. we had to hoover the whole house ourselves after checking in as there was pet fur over carpets and furniture and carpets were not hoovered properly.

Really enjoyed it and will be booking again in the future. Positive: Excellent location to explore from. The house was amazing! Fantastic garden area, we had two dogs with us. The house was spacious and comfortable. There were towels, tea, coffee etc. all you need for the week. Negative: No hand towels, tea towels or cleaning bits.

Whilst we enjoyed staying at the property, we didn’t expect to have to clean the kitchen nor oven trays on arrival. In addition the freezer door was wide open and in the process of defrosting with guests towels placed on the floor soaking up the water. This was all reported to Host & Stay within 30 minutes of arrival, and 7 days later we’re still awaiting a response from the company. The company also requested that we leave the key in the lock safe for maintenance to attend and change over a mattress during our stay, this was despite checking out the following morning at 10am ….. we stayed because we didn’t want people coming in with our belongings and dog present. Not very professional or organised

Overall lovely property which is beautifully decorated. Photos show an accurate representation. Close to Whitby only as short drive. Only negatives was the cleanliness of the house. Kitchen hob and oven dirty, dust and cobwebs everywhere, bag of dog poo left out in the garden and minor damages like stained carpets, broken blinds etc. Had it been cleaned more thoroughly and minor damages fixed it would’ve been 5/5!

we had a lovely holiday our second time there Positive: location excellent lovely size property Negative: only 2 rings on the cooker were working so a bit of a struggle to cook for 6 The heating needs resetting , the radiators were hot all night but when we arrived home in the afternoon between 3-5 it was too cold and the heating wouldn’t come on I think it needs re programming

Stunning house!,the photos don’t do this place justice.i wanted to go somewhere different to get some much needed family time with my partner and kids and grandson and it’s a great space for big family’s, check in was smooth the beds were made on arrival everything you needed from shampoos to body washes, enough loo roll even coffee tea milk and sugar were included as well.the kitchen had everything you needed to dine in,my family loved it here would definitely recommend and would definitely come back.

Okay property but felt unloved Positive: Good location, spacious, bedrooms and bathrooms all good for 6 people. Modern feel, my teenagers loved the decor. Negative: We stayed the Christmas week, thankfully the reason for the stay was to visit relatives at Christmas, cooking a Christmas dinner would have been impossible due to the lack of utilities, would have expected a minimum of seven of each item as the property is for seven. There were not enough bowls, glasses, spoons. Scissors and serving utensils would have been good, coffee table and side tables were light wood no coasters or table mats provided to stop water marks, sofa’s were uncomfortable. Cold downstairs due to open plan layout, sound proofing not great, light furniture no coasters or table mats. Advised the property would be decorated for Christmas it wasn’t. Felt the property would be better in warmer months

Super modern spacious space, in great location. Positive: Location and a great modern space for 6 plus people. 3 mins away from a regular bus into Whitby. Would go again and happy to recommend to friends. Negative: It’s not what we did not like, we really did like it! but would have enhanced our stay. Very strange lack of water/juice glasses- none, lots of champagne flutes yet only 2 wine glasses for a large home to accommodate 7? Plenty of large pint glasses and only 7 knives. Disappointing to see the lawn unkept. (Would have saved us one argument if there had been tv’s in all bedrooms- teenager rage, but we cannot win them all) and I would have preferred it to be more obvious/ transparent at time of booking, about the deposit, I’m not used to that on booking.com

Filthy Property, No Support, and a Ruined Wedding Weekend Negative: I booked this property for myself and my family to stay in for my sister’s wedding weekend. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, the house was filthy and the whole property stank of wet dog. It was also very run down and not at all like the photos had shown. We tried several times to contact the host by phone and through Booking.com but had no response. At first, we thought the cleaners had not been in after the previous guests, but as the beds were made, it was clear that this was how the property had been left for us. We had no choice but to go out and buy cleaning products (spending £30) and then spent several hours cleaning the house ourselves before we could even use the facilities. This was two night’s before my sister’s wedding, and instead of relaxing and preparing, we were scrubbing the property. On top of this, some of the basics in the property didn’t even function properly. For example, the master bedroom door wouldn’t close, so we had to prop a chair against it just to have privacy. The next day, after we had sent photos, the host finally contacted us and said they could send a cleaner. By that point it was far too late, as we had already done the cleaning ourselves. The property should never have been left in that condition in the first place. To make things worse, on the day of the wedding I received a message saying someone would be coming to the property for a “agreed inspection.” This had never been mentioned beforehand, and it was very upsetting knowing our belongings and valuables were in the property while we were away at the ceremony. Overall, this stay caused a lot of stress and inconvenience at what should have been a happy family occasion. The property was dirty, smelly, run down, and poorly maintained, and the host was unresponsive. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

The house was absolutely stunning. A group of us stayed here whilst visiting for the weekend for a wedding and it was the perfect place for us. Highly recommend

The hosts were responsive and answered all queries, we had one issue where the fridge was tripping all electric but due to being nye they couldn’t get an engineer out to fix this but apart from this we had a great stay.

Good place to stay. Ideal for the 7 of us as a base. We asked for the beds to be split into two singles in one of the rooms but this was not done unfortunately. When we split the beds ourselves there were crisps packets and crumbs under the bed. Other than that the place was clean enough and axgood location away from the centre of Whitby.

Lovely house in a ideal location Perfect for visiting the Yorkshire coast

The property has the potential to be really lovely but unfortunately wasn’t very clean on arrival, and is a bit run down, eg a broken blind and dirty windows - also a horrendous smell at the front door, like sour milk. We weren’t sent the pre- check in form until several hours after check in time, meaning we didn’t have the code to access the property on arrival. The responses to messages are all automated from the management company as well, which isn’t helpful. I did try to flag these issues privately but just another automated response, so assume it hasn’t been clocked. A shame as the house itself is really lovely, a great size and nice location - just needs some TLC and better check in process.

Beautiful home that ticked all the boxes for us. Private parking and downstairs toilet are a must with elderly parents and this house has both.

We had a lovely stay in Briggeswath, nice clean tidy house in beautiful surroundings. Would recommend to any of my friends if they were in the area. Only thing missing was placemats and possible a couple of fans.

Downfall finding drugs in children’s bedroom. Positive: We loved everything about this property. The location was excellent and perfectly suited our trip, the property itself was spacious, well laid out and had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable and felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. The size of the accommodation was ideal for our family, giving everyone plenty of space to relax. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay, and we wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it to others. Negative: The garden was quite overgrown and would have benefited from being better maintained. We were also extremely concerned to find a tub of cannabis in one of the children's bedrooms, which is a serious safety issue and completely unacceptable in a property marketed for families. Additionally, the kitchen stools could have been more comfortable with the addition of cushions.

we booked this about 6 months ago, for 6 of us and a dog, we wanted to get away as a family and my daughters in-laws to join us and her dog, my daughter is 19 weeks pregnant, and just 2 days before we was meant to arrive, she end up in hospital with heavy bleeding and thought we was gonna lose the baby and she was quite poorly. so we knew we was too late for a refund, I message the host and asked if its possible to move over the dates as we didn't want to leave my daughter and her fiance, so the host refused and this resulted in us asking airbnb to step in, the host still wouldn't allow us to move dates. The host had no empathy or sympathy and no thought for anyone in this awful situation, he was just thinking of himself , wrong house number dirty stained carpets mould in bathroom lamps dont work in one room, weeds in garden . back door catches when open, stain mark on bathroom wall, look like poo . was offered 10%discount if we book again, nope ! NOT A VERY NICE HOST

The property is located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, just a few miles from Whitby. It is a modern, semi-detached three-story house with spacious bedrooms and plenty of room for guests. The property is well equipped with all the essential amenities, including a clothes dryer, which made the stay very convenient especially when you are traveling with kids. Although we stayed for only two nights, we found the accommodation extremely comfortable. The host/management is very quick to quick to respond our requests. There is ample parking available for two to three cars directly in front of the property. Overall, we had a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Good - location , size of property , no of en suite rooms ,peaceful area , could be a beautiful house but let down in many areas . Bad - property dirty on arrival with dust and cobwebs everywhere . Windows are filthy and covered in cobwebs and dirt . Cigarette holder outside in garden full and smelly on arrival . Dirty pots in cupboard and dirty foil in ovens . Garden very overgrown with weeds , thistles and dog dirt ! Bed in 2nd bedroom is two singles pushed together with gap in middle and very uncomfortable , sheets had hole in them. Mould / dirt in shower trays . Tatty and marked throws on beds . No information on local area where there are many nice eateries everything provided electronically and focuses on Whitby and afar . Lamp not working in bedroom. No furniture for garden had the grass been useable. Dirty / mouldy cushions just thrown under stairs cupboard . Paintwork looks tired on walls and stair rails with scuffs chips and ingrained dirt .

We had a lovely stay at the property which was in a gorgeous location and only 10 minutes from Whitby town centre. We felt right at home the moment we got there and it was a great base to explore Whitby during the day and enjoy a family night in the evening. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again !!

The house could be beautiful but unfortunately our experience was tainted by it being dirty. There was mould in the bathroom, dirty pots and plates in the kitchen cupboards, stained carpets and the handrail on the stairs was very dirty . Alongside this the garden had a lot of someone else’s dog mess still in it and the patio was full of weeds, rendering the garden unusable. There was also no offer of compensation when I complained and sent the pictures through. Had we not have just driven 5 hrs and arrived late we wouldn’t have stayed and I would have requested a full refund.

When we arrived the front door to the property was not locked and we didn't need to use the key safe as that was unlocked also .. The garden was not great lawn to long and weeds everywhere so couldn't really sit outside . The reason we booked this property was because of the dog, who we ended up taking for walks mattress in the second bedroom needed replacing, stains on the carpets, radiators downstairs did not work but upstairs was like a green house (struggled to sleep )

Black mould around shower trays. Torn bedding. Shortages of drinking glasses etc . Weeds everywhere outside. Unkempt grass area. Dirty Patio doors.

Lovely home, perfect for the amount of guests we had (6), such a beautiful area too. Only concern was the double beds weren’t double but 2 singles pushed together and were uncomfortable , other than that no problems!

We had a wonderful stay at Uggleby House over the weekend. It was spotless, spacious, and perfectly located, making it easy for us to relax and enjoy the area. Everything was comfortable and well maintained. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to others!

Positive: Location. Negative: Dirty property, floors hadn’t been brushed or mopped. Carpets covered in bits hadn’t been hoovered in any room. Dirty dishes in cupboards. Bathroom had items from previous guests, dirty toilet. Garden overgrown.

Had a lovely stay at Uggleby House! Beautiful open plan living/diner, the natural light was gorgeous! Everywhere was spotless, well equipped kitchen, plenty of seating in the house, although it’s a large house it felt cozy and we felt right at home, we will definitely book again when the time comes!

Lovely property in a really nice quiet area. It was a perfect base from which to explore the town of Whitby & beyond. The host provided clear instructions from booking through to check out. On the whole we felt comfortable & cosy in the property although we felt that the place really would benefit from some TLC in places. Stains on the living room & staircase carpets, a broken fridge cupboard door & a dirty feel to the kitchen floor are issues that could be easily rectified. I’ve since noticed that some of these things were mentioned in previous reviews from last year. When on holiday you don’t expect to have to mop & hoover the floors on arrival. If the above mentioned issues were sorted out then we’d have felt able to give a 5 star rating although our experience falls slightly below.

We enoyed Uggleby House. It was quiet with a great area for all of us to hang out. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also spacious.

Great location. Lovely big house. Overall clean and tidy. Improvements: just small things like making sure the pictures are straight in frames, fridge cupboard door was broken, towels- need more towels!

The house is located in an ideal spot to explore the local countryside and coast. We found that communicating with Host and Stay was very cold and lacked the personal touch that you normally get from Airbnb. Automated responses are not helpful and we had to wait up to24 hours for a response. Fortunately our communication was about small items like no tea towel for example. Cleaning fee is excessive especially when the house was not particularly clean. The house desperately needs maintenance to be classed as luxury accommodation. We have stayed at many Airbnb’s which have been wonderful and very welcoming but something about Host &Stay is just lacks personality. For example, No welcome pack, J cloth as a tea towel. Obvious cost cutting measures applied which is inappropriate when billed as luxury accommodation

Way below expectations an unpleasant experience. Positive: I have emailed an extensive explanation of my disappointment regarding this property. I didn’t enjoy my stay in this property. Negative: There were so many negative issues that were below what expectations I had from the photographs on booking.com. that were fresh, bright and welcoming. I have already made a complaint via an email including comparative photographs. This property needs a complete deep clean, stained worn mattresses and stained bedding need to be replaced, fridge door was broken, oven and cooking equipment all need a thorough deep clean, paint on walls, ceiling and woodwork needs repainting, stained carpet in lounge and really unpleasant stain in the 2nd floor bedroom, kitchen tap loose and the outside patio and garden needed weeding and lawn mowing.

Host and stay were absolutely useless and would recommend to anyone not to stay Positive: The location was good but that was all we can say was good about the property Negative: The house was in a disgusting state. Not been cleaned AT ALL! Blood stains on the carpet and stairs. Dead flies on the floor and a dead spider in the bed! Floors, oven doors, patio doors, walls, island, draining board, sinks all not cleaned and disgusting. The grass outside over grown and full of weeds. Stains all over the living room carpet and when I hoovered it the smell of wet dog was overwhelming! Beyond poor!

Positive: Lovely house, a little tired. Negative: Holiday ruined because 3 single beds that make up the double beds, had mattresses with springs that dug into your back. They were disgraceful. The lawn was like a field, but luckily we managed to have it cut.

This was the first Airbnb I had booked that’s managed by a company rather than it being a persons home and it really showed, the house was clean where you would expect it to be, but it wasn’t maintained very well in other places. We had a few issues and Host and Stay were quick to respond but the general cleanliness/upkeep of the house was lacking. On the first day we got there the freezer had been left open and was completely frozen so that it wouldn’t shut, this was rectified the next day by one of their team. The last night we were there the TV and bracket fell off the wall, which we reported and was hopefully fixed in time for the next guests. The house was in a fantastic location and was a short drive away from Whitby. My only advice would be to read the t&c’s fully before confirming your booking.

Brilliant Positive: The house had tons of space had everything we needed and more plenty of parking spaces the property was modern in design

Excellent place to stay! Fantastic place to stay, beautifil inside and out in a lovely quiet village. Highly recommend!
