We had a lovely, peaceful mini break. Great spot for the dogs!

RadhikaBooking.comApr 2025

Pleasant stay Positive: Location was lovely: so close to marshes/beach and beautiful views from inside. Property was as described with bedding & towels provided, and a nice space to spend the time. Enclosed garden area great for young dog. Kitchen well stocked (besides lack of freezer) and hosts provided 1 dishwasher tablet/day of stay. Beds were comfortable and extra blankets provided. Heating was set to automatic and property was a comfortable temperature. Negative: Hosts weren't very communicative - I had to message on the day of checkin and how to access property. Had to ask multiple times over different days for instructions on where to park - these were unclear (said space for two vehicles, then changed their mind and said definitely only space for one, but could share alternative parking arrangements if needed - then I had to then ask multiple times for this). Wondered if I was talking to a chatbot at one point as didn't feel questions were answered. A freezer in kitchen/within fridge would've been nice - we'd done a shop en route and were then surprised. Also we ran out of toilet paper & hand soap - not end of world but had to buy more of these things & we only stayed for 3 nights. Bathroom could have been better ventilated (towel/bath mat smelled damp for duration), and flush not very powerful...

What a pity we encountered several problems during our stay. 1) There was NO heating downstairs. 2) The shower pressure for hot water was appalling, a cheap electric shower. 3) There was dust on the floor in the main bedroom. 4) The dishwasher did not work on Tuesday 31st December…..we were unable to secure a restaurant reservation for that evening so bought food to cook at the cottage……we ended up washing by hand all the items that had been used. The cottage location is lovely, close to the Beach Road, the village shop and the local pub, The Dun Cow. The cottage had hot water so the bath was used. The cottage is dog friendly.

Great location for the Norfolk coast and walking Positive: Cottage was lovely, very clean and tidy. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of bedding, towels, loo rolls etc. Great location over looking the salt marshes. Lovely for the dogs, with a small enclosed yard to the rear of the cottage. WiFi was good Local shop and pub where also excellent, just a short walk away Negative: It snowed the day we arrived and the cottage was freezing. Took a long time for the heating to take effect, once it was turned on. Upstairs was better than down stairs. Really bad phone reception, which made it difficult to contact anyone about the heating problem. We did get to grips with it, after a couple of days.

House in a great location with fabulous views. Really good pub a 10/15 minute walk away. Great walks from the front door or a short drive away. On an excellent bus route along the coast. Would absolutely stay again.

JamesBooking.comApr 2025

Fantastic base to explore N.Norfolk Positive: Lovely house with a nice view over the coastline. Couple of really nice walks straight from the front door, including a marsh, coastal and rural. Well placed to drive to the beautiful surrounding villages and sights. Clean, warm and comfortable, good off road parking, nice kitchen with a great stock of utensils. Good bathroom, strong shower. Comfy beds, plenty of cupboards for clothing. Everything we needed for a week of There is a handy village shop only a short walk (morning only), good pub (bring a torch, no street lighting). +Decent internet +TV supports streaming from Android -fridge lacks a freezer compartment.

s attention to detail which could if improved bring up to an excellent standard. See comments above Positive: It was very clean , tidy and fairly well equipped. The parking is a plus. Salthouse is a great location lots of walks nearby. The Salthouse Stores provide a useful facility and the Dun Cow offered great food with a lovely atmosphere. If you are there just after Christmas visit the North Norfolk Railway and take the Mince Pie train - delightful trip ending to the festive season nicely! Negative: On our arrival we found no toilet roll, or kitchen rolls were provided , necessitating a trip to Tesco in Sheringham as it was late afternoon when we arrived. This was a bit irksome to say the least. Also there was no ‘Welcome Pack ‘, many cottage’s we’ve stayed in provide milk, biscuits small bottle of wine etc as a token but appreciated gesture. We also experienced a short power cut (this was the weekend in early Jan when the snow arrived) this obviously couldn’t be helped and power was restored after an hour and a half.

BernardBooking.comDec 2025

Functional, served it’s purpose and was very convenient to location of my family Positive: Clean. Modern. Negative: More items in the kitchen. Eg: Washing up brush, kitchen roll, scourers, no dripping tap. A less disgusting toilet brush and a toilet that flushed properly with no staining in bowl. A microwave that worked properly. We stayed over Christmas and there were absolutely no decorations, so cheerless.

Excellent location for a stay in Norfolk Lots of attractions within easy reach Positive: Great location and everything we needed in house - great TV and very fast internet which was handy as needed to work .. Comfy chairs and enough room for 4 adults Negative: Bit confusing as two key cases - one we needed was very stiff !! Toilet needed lots of flushes Courtyard garden could have been tidier

The location of this property is very good. Salthouse is a really sweet place and is within easy distance of lots of coastal places. The instructions to get into the property aren’t clear as it wasn’t specified which lock box to use. There are two. One on the left looks like a lock box. But this isn’t the correct one. One on the right looks like a socket cover but is the lock box. This isn’t specified, this left us thinking the code was wrong, sat outside trying to call the company (with limited signal making it a task) to try to get in. After around an hour they reached the housekeeper who said there were two and it was the one on the right. This should definitely be communicated in check in instructions. House clean and tidy. Take your own salt, pepper, oil. (There is some there but grinders don’t really work). Quiet close though and nice to have sea views and be within walking distance of the coast and a pub and cafe and fantastic fish shop - crab royal salad a must!

Nice but flaws Positive: Salthouse is a lovely village and 5mins to beach. Very clean house, comfy beds, nice decor. Negative: Vertical office grade blinds in the bedrooms!! Keeps privacy but in May, we were getting kids to sleep in a day lit room. Mornings were similarly an issue. Shower not very powerful. Odd stinginess in places - 2cm of carex handsoap in bathroom for four people for 5 nights stay? 3 dishwasher tabs similarly? Dogs in property directly in front barked loudly at everything and pounced up on fence/wall. Though kitchen well appointed, the knives/peelers are blunt.

Positive: The location was perfect for exploring the areas around North Norfolk. Even if you haven't got a car, the bus is at the end of the drive and connects u all to the villages. Negative: It was a nightmare to access the property. You are sent an access code for the key safe, which wasn't working -it wasnt until we spoke to someone that they told us there are 2 safes, and we were trying the wrong one. The other one is the other side of the door and not an obvious key safe. This should be pointed out in the future.

Two night stay at Tystie Cottage Positive: The position. The comfy settee and chairs. The heating. The shower speed flow and heat. The kitchen and cutlery dishwasher The towels bedding etc. The tv. The sea view from the kitchen and spare room. Negative: No freezer section in fridge. Toilet was stained and unappealing and the shower seal needs cleaning or replacing the bathroom in general was tired and needed a deep clean.

StuartBooking.comSep 2026

Positive: Location and good base to travel around from plus own parking Negative: Nothing to say

GuestAirbnbSep 2026

Great basic cottage. Clean but the loo needs limescale removing. Lovely location. My only complaint is the AI generated responses from the host- I messaged about an ant infestation and I received a response at 1am generated by AI telling me not to let them in the patio door!! Otherwise a good cottage and we would return!

AngelaBooking.comSep 2026

Quiet relaxing time just what we needed Positive: The location was perfect Negative: The steps up to the property were challenging but my husband’s health had dateriorated after we booked it

AshleyBooking.comAug 2026

A pleasant base located on the coastal road close to all the places we wanted to visit. Positive: A clean and tidy property. Well equipped kitchen with basic cleaning products provided. Negative: The beds were adequate if a little on the firm side.

Really nice clean property but lack of information for using the TV and Microwave spoilt our experience….

BarrettBooking.comJul 2026

Great location to explore north norfolk coast road. Positive: My party of adults were attending an event in Sherringham, so the perfect location to get there easily. Very close to pub. Everything you need is supplied, great kitchen facilities. Comfortable beds and clean sheets. Negative: Bit confusing having 2 keylocks.. please take off the left hand one as this is the most obvious, but doesn't work. TV only had bbc on all channels.

MartinBooking.comJul 2026

Positive: Very clean, good location. Nice veiw from front. Comfy lounge furnture. Outdoor dining in small back patio possible, table and chairs set up . Negative: Poor welcome basics, Impersonal contact through bot. Hard beds. Late access time on 1st day (4 pm). No freezer or ice box offered., but had dishwasher and washing machine !

BishopBooking.comJun 2026

A good base to explore the northern coast of Norfolk. Positive: Location. Reasonably comfortable. Negative: Steep steps to front door without handrail. No toiletries except one toilet roll and hand wash.

JayneVrboMay 2026

Lovely little house in a fabulous location, really felt like we had got away from it all. Ample parking, high level of cleanliness and only a short walk from the coast line. Location wise it is in a small village with a lovely pub serving great food where you can sit outside and look out over the marshes (worth booking as it is quite popular). Overall would definitely recommend this property.

Extremely enjoyable as usual Positive: The situation and the layout of the cottage . It is very comfortable and good value for money. Negative: Difficulty getting the heating to work and the lack of a small freezer.

GuestAirbnbMay 2026

We enjoyed our stay at Tysie cottage and it was in a good central location along the North Norfolk Coast. The allocated parking out the front was very handy. Having Salthouse to walk along to was great and we highly recommend the Dun Cow pub and Cookies seafood. Also the Salthouse village store was well stocked with lovely cake and bread. Some aspects of Tysie Cottage could do with a deep clean - there is brown limescale under the rim of the toilet - very noticeable when sat in the bath!! The shower pressure is very low and difficult to wash your hair under. Would also of been nice to have a cafetière to use and a basic welcome pack such as milk on arrival. The photos and other reviews are a little miss leading. We were expecting to be the house at the front over looking the salt marsh - but the view was blocked from all but the 2nd bedroom window. The outdoor space is also very dark & tiny - not somewhere you would want to sit out. It never gets the sun.

We had a wonderful stay in Salthouse. The house was spotlessly clean and well presented, and the communication from the host was clear and comprehensive. The area is absolutely beautiful. A birders paradise combined with a wonderful collection of villages that have enormous charm. The house was a stones throw from the start of the nature reserve and beach and had a pub and shop a very short walk, both providing great food and drink. We thouroughly recommend!

GuestAirbnbApr 2026

Lovely little house. Very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was great too.

GuestAirbnbApr 2026

The house was good and surroundings were were lovely Unfortunately the support from Host & Stay was very poor. A lack of clear instructions in the house book for heating and oven

AndyBooking.comApr 2026

Short stay to do some fishing. Ideal, simple, affordable, great location and good pub nearby Positive: Simple clean and great location Negative: A welcome pack would have been nice. Just basics like others do

GuestAirbnbApr 2026

We had a fantastic few days staying here. The location was perfect and so was the house with gorgeous views out to sea. It is close to lots of gorgeous villages, beaches and towns. I could walk to the beach from the house with an early morning cuppa to take in the ocean. There was a lovely pub and seafood shack selling delicious fresh crab just 5 minutes walk away. The house was lovely, it had everything we needed and it was very clean and easy to find. We will definitely be back.

We lived the little cottage. Beautiful views to sea. Perfect place to go and explore. The dun&cow pub / restaurant served the best food too

MelissaBooking.comFeb 2026

Comfortable and suited to our needs Positive: Lovely location on the coast with ample parking Negative: It was a bit cold where it had not been used for a while so took a good 24 hours to get it warm and the smell of drains was very strong on arrival

GuestAirbnbJan 2026

Great little place. Lovely walks near by. Would highly recommend for a little getaway!

Disappointed about the cooker issues and the dishwasher not working properly but overall we enjoyed our stay. Positive: Great location and nicely presented. Plenty of space for parking. Negative: Cooker was so filthy it set the fire alarms off the first time we used it. Cleaners were sent the following day to clean the oven but they arrived at 5pm in the evening just as we were cooking dinner and they couldn’t spend the necessary time to clean it properly because it was disturbing our evening and we had hungry children to feed. Also the dishwasher failed to clean things. We had to run it twice each time and pour boiling water on the dishwasher tablet to help them dissolve. Someone needs to take a look at it.

PriceBooking.comAug 2025

Positive: The location was fantastic Layout of accommodation is good Facilities good Negative: Cleanliness! Especially in the bathroom, there has been an awful smell throughout our stay. In particular, the toilet is disgusting and requires some hygiene maintenance from the owners. Guests shouldn't have to deal with this whilst on holiday. Stepping out of the bath onto tiles is very dangerous. The addition of an internal freezer compartment in the fridge would be a bonus as would a washing machine rather than a dish washer. Good base for no more than 3nights due to all mentioned above.

EllisBooking.comJul 2025

Negative: Bathroom was functional but could do with a bit of a tidy, toilet bowl and ceiling light

AshleyBooking.comJun 2025

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

The location was fantastic. Salthouse is a quiet village with a lovely small shop / cafe, and a pub that does great food. It is so well located on the North Norfolk coast with lots of places to visit east, west and south of the village, many things available within a walk or short drive. The house was very well located, quiet as set back from the road, good parking, and very close to everything including the beach road. Inside it is showing a few areas now where it may need a little redecoration, but it was exceptionally clean and comfortable.

GemmaBooking.comApr 2025

Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return! Positive: The cottage was cute and location was absolutely perfect. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was really cosy. Negative: There was a lot of wood dust on surfaces in the kitchen and living area, presumably from some recent works. Also the blinds didn’t block out that much light in the main bedroom so we woke up at 4.30am every day 🤣

Property wasn’t clean, lots of cobwebs and spiders. Kitchen floor was dirty. Human hair throughout the property. Windows dirty and mold growing on them. Great location, shame the property didn’t live up to expectations.

DuyguBooking.comFeb 2025

Positive: This was a great little last minute find right on the coast. Really enjoyed our stay here. The village is really quiet but has a great pub a couple of minutes drive away. The beds weren't the most comfortable but couldn't fault anything else. It had everything we needed. Negative: Parking instructions ahead of arrival would be really useful. There are clear instructions within the welcome pack but nothing beforehand.

WendyBooking.comFeb 2025

Location good. Ideal for short stay. No washing machineor freezer box in fridge Negative: No freezer box.

JulieBooking.comNov 2024

Spoilt by the anxiety of having to spend time in combat messaging! Is it right that the heating is controlled by a remot Positive: Great location for views and access to the coast. Modern, spacious and well equipped property. Well maintained, clean and tidy. Negative: It was cold inside on arrival. The radiators were cold to touch. First attempt at activating the heating failed. The thermostat was set at 22 and would not respond to an increase. We did follow the instructions in the welcome folder and made several failed attempts at turning the thermostat up. We had to contact host and stay who put us on to the emergency engineer. He asked a series of questions which didn’t help to resolve the issue. The engineer contacted the property owner who he said can control the heating system remotely! We ended up sending and receiving several text messages from host and stay. It was insulting to be told that we have to allow the place to warm up. It was not going to if the radiators were cold. The owner could see that the thermostat is set to 22 and appears to think that this is acceptable!. After several messages, the property owner asked what we would like the thermostat to be set to!!By this time I had put the oven on to warm up the ground floor space!!!! The property owner did increase the thermostat but it defaulted to 22 the next day and so I had to message again!!!

We had a lovely stay at this clean cottage in wonderful Salthouse. The only thing we would've liked is flexibility around check out times, 10:00AM on a Sunday morning is very early and couldn't be arranged according to the property's manager.
