The apartment was lovely, as per the photos. Very large apartment great place close to Whitby centre about 10 mins walk down the hill. Comfy bed, lots of storage, ideal for 2 couples staying together. Overall the apartment was very clean. What let the apartment down: Lots of dust on the blinds and artificial plants. The oven hadn't been cleaned. Photos sent to the host of the oven & dusty areas No information about how the electric heating worked. We struggled to get it to work. We telephoned the Host and they tired to explain the heating, but in the end we just figured it out. It would be helpful if there was a booklet of information in the apartment to give instructions on how the heating works etc. Additional information would be useful There is a code to enter the apartment block, if you are not in a car. One of the keys to open the internal door also opens the external door, this would be good information to know.

Lovely decorated apartment with plenty of room, went as 2 couples. In a previous review it says ventilation problem, both bathrooms end up with a lot of condensation, we did also struggle to get enough hot water to run a full bath. Constant messaging reminding you of departure time very over whelming, maybe because it is booked through a external agency. Overall this is a modern,clean,spacious and convenient apartment and would recommend.

Great location, modern well equipped , but poor quality beds spoiled stay Positive: Great location near Pannet Park, a short walk from the centre. Modern apartment with lovely open plan kitchen diner. Underground parking for one car very useful. Outdoor terrace, would have been great on a sunny day. Negative: Mattresses very uncomfortable, and in my view needed replacing. My friend really struggled to sleep on hers. Bathrooms were a bit worn looking. Also had to pay a security deposit before arrival, together with admin fee, which had not been clear enough when I booked. Hosts failed to respond to a question I had about parking for a second car, although they were accessible by phone. Unsure whether I’d stay again

Had a great weekend away with friends, very clean & cosy. It had everything we needed (only a tea towel missing) but I should have remembered that. Not too far to walk into centre. Thanks for a great stay.

We had a lovely few days in the apartment over new year. It’s very well appointed, clean, spacious and modern. The beds were very comfortable and all of the rooms are spacious with lots of storage. We loved the modern, clean minimalist yet comfortable feel to the apartment and felt at home during our stay. We made the most of its central location with restaurants and shops a few minutes walk away. We didn’t need the car so basement car park is great as it is difficult to find parking in Whitby. The host was very helpful and quick to respond when I had a question. Would definitely recommend to others.

I have stayed in several AirBnB's while working in Whitby, and I am always very pleased with the properties, this apartment was amazing, fantastic WiFi, lovely thick carpet in the bedrooms, super clean bathrooms, while there I took advantage of the Amazon Prime TV account that was active and watched several TV shows, area is very quite, no loud neighbours which is super important, as I have to leave for work at 06:00 every morning, I cannot recommend this place enough and will try to stay here again in a few months when I am back in Whitby. There is complimentary Tea / Coffee / Sugar / Milk that will keep you going till you go and buy your own, the apartment has all the cool kitchen appliances that you would expect.

Great location close to everything. Roomy apartment with lovely outside area. Linens did not have a scent which was appreciated by those of us with allergies and sensitive skin. Had some difficulties with keys for front building entrance and patio doors. Toilet paper, paper towel, dish soap, and towels provided could have been more generous. Kitchen was fine for our needs and we cooked at least 2 meals a day for each of five day stay. Loved the park and museum across the street, and Trencher's fish and chips just a short walk away. Were able to find everything we needed for our cooking needs at the Co-op store down the street. Overall, a wonderful stay in a lovely apartment.

Cleanliness issues...... Positive: We picked this apartment because of the the location having once owed an apartment at Caedmons so was familiar with the area. Previous reviews were good however this did not reflect our experience....please read below !! Negative: Our experience with Host & Stay has been extremely disappointing, and we would strongly advise anyone considering booking through this company to think very carefully before doing so. We arrived at Turnstones Apartment to find cleanliness standards that were completely unacceptable. The dirt and dust were not consistent with a property that had simply been missed during a recent clean; the condition gave us serious concerns about the overall cleaning and inspection procedures in place before guests arrive. Cleanliness should be the absolute minimum expectation when paying for holiday accommodation. Unfortunately, our experience fell well below that basic standard. What has made matters considerably worse is the way Host & Stay has handled our subsequent complaint. Despite providing photographic evidence and repeatedly explaining our concerns, we have been subjected to prolonged delays, unsatisfactory communication and an attempted resolution that we consider wholly inadequate. After weeks of correspondence, the proposed £30 refund was, in our opinion, completely disproportionate to the experience we endured. We did not book a holiday expecting to spend our time dealing with complaints about the condition of our accommodation. Nor should customers have to spend weeks chasing a company for a meaningful response to legitimate concerns. We have repeatedly given Host & Stay the opportunity to address this matter fairly. Instead, the drawn-out process has only increased our frustration and further undermined our confidence in the company. Our concerns extend beyond the condition of the apartment to the standard of customer service and complaint handling we have experienced. An apology and a token refund do not, in our view, constitute an adequate resolution to the issues raised.

Will not book with this company again! Excessive use of AI and foreign call centre. Hated communication - so slow and impersonal. Continually sending emails trying to make more money. Keys in apartment not labelled properly which resulted in being locked out! We spent 2 hours in corridors trying to communicate with foreign call centre!!

I thought the accommodation was immaculate comfortable beds,,great Location too, i would only say that it would have been great if we could have accessed Netflix. My advice is to bring a fire stick if you want to watch Netflix,checking if they have HDMI port. Easy to check in,I am disabled and the lift took me to the first floor with a very short walk to the apartment. The communication from the company was very quick and reassuring.

Came for a few days of Folk Festival delight and were … delighted

Fantastic apartment and would definitely recommend/stay there again. Positive: The apartment was fantastic - modern, spacious, good decor, and a nice little enclosed patio area. It was great to have secure, indoor parking, which was only seconds away from the lift to the apartment. The hosts company had sent a digital brochure beforehand with excellent information that included accessing the garage and apartment, alongside useful local information. When I was searching for somewhere to stay for 21st and 22nd August 2026 for a friend’s birthday, I wanted a modern, spacious place with 2 double bedrooms, outdoor space, big comfy settee, parking, walking distance to harbour, WiFi etc., and this apartment achieved all this and more. The beds were huge and very comfortable, with 4 pillows and good quality bedding. Both bedrooms were lovely and mine had an en-suite with a spacious shower. The main bathroom also had a shower and bath. We really appreciated that the hosts left small but adequate supplies of basics such as dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc., and there was a good selection of crockery, pans, cooking utensil’s, and glasses. We couldn’t fault the apartment at all. It is also opposite a lovely park area which is a beautiful alternative walking route to the town/sea front areas. Negative: The only negative was on both mornings we were woke up around 5am by (I’m assuming) children running around another apartment for an hour or so. I’m sure this would just be a family on holiday and so a transient issue, (and beyond the host’s control), but it wasn’t great for us.

Great location. Clean and tidy property. Awful sleep when raining. Positive: The check in process was easy. The keys were in a lock box at your car parking space and access to the building was right next to us. The apartment was lovely. The facilities were brilliant. It was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The courtyard was a good space. It rained the entire time we were there so didnt get to use it but would have been lovely to sit out on a warm evening with a drink. The apartment building was in a great area with a 5 minute walk down the hill to the shops. Bit of a trek back up the hill but we took it steady and it was fine. We ended up getting a taxi one of the days as the rain was extremely heavy and it was £4 to the train station which was a good price for convenience. Negative: As I said, it rained the entire time we were there and due to a leaky gutter and rain hitting the window ledge, we all had a terrible sleep. I had to video it and send it to the host as the noise was ridiculous. We thought it was hailing at first but on our first night there we were awake from around 1am until 5am and the second night we were up from about 2am to 4am. I let the host know both times and they were very quick to respond but nothing was done about it. Unfortunately it ruined our break away a little as we came home absolutely shattered. We wanted to spend our final day exploring the Abbey etc but we were too tired to do anything and just drove home. I would also advise the cleaners to dust a bit more. The amount of dust on the light shades right above the bed and on the lamps in the sitting room was crazy.

A great place to stay and a great location. Having parking is a great bonus especially in Whitby. A really comfy place for a family.

Would not stay here again Positive: Location and parking with the property and the outdoor space. Negative: It was not very clean in places, which has put me off booking the place again considering you charged me £60 for cleaning. There was dust on skirting boards, lamps, lights, window blinds, window sills, under the cushions of the settee was covered in crumbs and rubbish, under the dressing table and the plants were covered in dust. There was a clothes tag in the wardrobe from a previous guest. Also holes in some of the duvet covers. Will contact you with more photos.

Enjoyable stay in Whitby . The accommodation was spotless with comfy beds and quality linen . The kitchen was well stocked and having a fridge freezer and dishwasher was a bonus . Private underground parking was perfect and amenities and restaurants were within easy walking distance . The apartment was very quiet especially at night which was ideal as we had a toddler with us . Would definitely stay here again if visiting Whitby .

this flat was perfect for us and we were pleasantly surprised that it was actually bigger than the pictures make out. the location was perfect with a quick walk to beach, town, or even quicker across the road to pannett park and it's playground which our 4 year old loved. we would love to stay again next time we come to whitby!

Great time! Positive: Great location with parking for Whitby. Lovely apartment, generous sized rooms. The photos don’t really do the apartment justice. Negative: Every thing was great. Unfortunately the hosting company was awful! We were bombarded with messages prior to arrival and during our stay, constantly reminding us about reporting any damages caused and to check out on time. A week prior to arrival we were forced to take out a mandatory damage waiver policy for a non refundable £29. When we queried this as it was not in their T&C’s we were told check in details would not be released until we paid it. We reported all minor scuffs and existing damage on arrival for fear of being accused or charged. Host & Stay you need to sharpen your customer service!

Ruined by dealings with infuriating so called customer care. They are inefficient and time wasting and for this reason Positive: V nicely and stylishly furnished. Comfortable beds. V clean. Excellent location and in house parking a boon. Negative: A problem with water supply and electrics which has obviously been ongoing for a considerable time - see previous reviews. We had arrived and unpacked when we received a call to say we “could not be allowed to stay there” as there was a problem with hot water. There was a member of Host and Stays maintenance team on site at the time and he was unable to find a fault and reassured us there was no danger. As we were only booked for 3 nights we were not prepared to move to the alternative properties offered which were in any case not up to the standard of Turnstones. The next afternoon there was a problem with the electrics and most of the lights and plug sockets failed. Our efforts to contact “customer care” was hopeless, the service is atrocious. It seems to be operating from a call centre, I cannot believe it is an office in Gisburn as the local dial code would indicate. I now think “Charlie” is some sort of AI bot and it is impossible to speak to anyone who knows what is going on. (Several fraught and infuriating hours later we did get a call from the Host and Stay maintenance electrician who was helpful.)

Beautiful modern and homely apartment, in walking distance to everything Whitby has to offer! Positive: Modern, well presented, spacious apartment not too far from the centre of Whitby, with everything in walking distance. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the sofa was cosy. The heating was effective when we had managed to work out how to use it. This is all automated, but not very clear in the instructions. Having a secure car space meant not having to worry about parking which can be busy. Loved staying here, it was really homely, and very quiet! We came away relaxed and revitalised Negative: On arrival the power was switched off at the main switch box inside the apartment, which took a while to resolve - this impacted the initial impressions. Unfortunately we weren't able to get additional help with this from the contact number provided, but ended up working it out for ourselves. This power switch tripped again each day early in the morning - this has been reported to Host & Stay. Concur with other review about the towel rail in the main bathroom which does not heat the room well. Also the extractor fan for the kitchen and living room runs through the ceiling of the second bedroom which is noisy. But these things were minor for us.

Great short stay accommodation Positive: Very spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. Cosy seating in the lounge area. Loads of storage space. Easily warmed when heating was turned on. Great position for exploring Whitby. Negative: The water heater had been turned off so we had no hot water the first night. The towel rail in the main bathroom is quite small and does not heat the room well. The extractor fan for the kitchen and living room runs through the ceiling of the second bedroom and was quite noisy. We had to turn it off at night.

We have stayed at the property before. It is superbly located. Convenient but quiet.

A home away from home. We felt so comfortable from the moment we booked - with super responsive customer service all the way through to the end of our stay, ensuring that we had peace of mind there would be somebody to speak to, should we need to. The apartment was stylish, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The host sent us a comprehensive guide which included everything we needed for our stay, plus recommendations for the local area. We will definitely be looking to book here again or at other properties the host has to offer!

Awesome Positive: Clean, bright and spacious apartment. Tastefully decorated with good quality furnishings. Lots of thought gone into making sure you want for nothing. Really comfortable beds and two bathrooms so that was great with 4 of us getting ready for the day ahead. Bonus courtyard with afternoon sun and garden furniture. Underground car park with allotted space took the stress away from finding a spot nearby. Perfect location right by the park and only a short walk away from the town main attractions. Great communication with the host. Will definitely book this again next time we visit Whitby. Negative: Nothing to dislike about this property.

property in quiete residential area safe parking. all areas were spotless, apartment was spotless modern spacious & good quality finishings well equipped our only problem was with the hot water it has 2 bathrooms so 4 people but not enough hot water for 4 showers at any one time you have to go and boost the system wait for 40/50 minutes before others can shower this isn't ideal if you've been out all day and need to all be ready to go out for tea. it seem like an older type system & no hot water on demand you don't always have the time to wait an hour after for first ones showered we thought it might be on a timer maybe we had a few days of very tepid showers before realising .only thing that let the apartment down not great water system for size of apartment 5* aptment 2* water only 5/10,mins walk to the main quayside and shops coop for food right next to rail/bus station this was down hill so easy walking bit harder coming up tho hist & stay were brilliant tho x

Amazing apartment .. I did have some issues retrieving an Invoice but after a "lot" of deliberation finally managed to view / download an Invoice, when you do finally find that page, save it to your favourites as it is not obvious, I spend over an hour looking and asking for assistance, which was a frustrating experience, room for improvement.

Immaculate apartment. Equipped with absolutely everything we needed. Great to have secure free parking. The location was perfect, far enough from town for peace and quiet, but close enough to walk in and out. The park opposite was a lovely way to make your way down and back as well. Would ceetainly stay again when up in the area.

Good location for accessing Whitby and a good apartment and our overall experience was fine. It wasn't immediately obvious this is an external agency advertising on airbnb so we had to pay an additional damage waiver on top of the very high cleaning fee so we wouldn't use this host again. We made a last minute decision to have a weekend away and so didn't read the listing in enough detail as the above is stated. If you are happy with the additional costs the apartment was nice.

The apartment was well appointed and in a great location. It just missed some of the homely touches of other places. No milk in the fridge, no washing up liquid, no welcoming touches at all. We enjoyed the stay however.

This is one of the best apartments we have stayed at in Whitby. We have stayed in a lot of places over the years and this has everything. The only downside was that the mattresses are a bit on the cheap side so were not very comfortable

Excellent. The flat was clean and tidy, tasteful and with everything we needed. Very clear instructions made for easy access to the car park and flat itself whilst also being flexible. The flat is modern and furnished to a high standard, making it comfortable, easy to live in, and with plenty of space and all the facilities you need for any length of stay. It's located in a very quiet, secure block opposite Pannett Park so you're close to somewhere for a coffee (the museum cafe), and a short walk (10 minutes) into Whitby itself. Communication with the host was quick and comprehensive, including a very helpful online guidebook.

The apartment is spacious and equipped to a high standard. We had loads of room with everything we needed for our stay - the bed was very comfortable too! Although a little out of the town (10 mins up a hill), we enjoyed the close proximity to the park and fab museum on our doorstep. It was great to have parking provided too. The bathrooms are internal with no windows, plus the ventilation system didn’t appear to work in either so these do feel a bit dank in comparison to the rest of the property with some black mould in the en-suite. We also arrived during the end of a big storm and the property was pretty chilly whenever we left for any period, but there is an easy to use heating system. Dealing with an external agency (and needing to hand over a significant, refundable deposit before our stay), plus all the extra reminder messages about checking in, out or leaving reviews on top of the same comms from Airbnb was a bit much, but overall we had a great stay!
