Main Highlights are location by train station and good bedroom size and the team were friendly and very responsive. stairs were steep and not the owners fault as my alot can be done but was not suitable for anyone with accessible needs. TV instructions were complicated and think just needs to be replaced to something simpler.

GuestAirbnbJun 2025

Great location & could be lovely. However all previous guest comments ignored. Obviously not loved or cared for like other places I’ve stayed in Whitby. Very dirty, dusty, clumps of human hair everywhere on floors. Sofa broken& covered in pet hairs. Crockery old and chipped, old mismatched glasses, cups & cutlery (decided to eat out!) top floor bed very thin & uncomfortable mattress. Shower cubicle door broken. Front door sticks and very stiff to open and close. TV didn’t work (not that we spent any time in the place to watch it!) Not good for anyone with mobility issues as stairs steep, narrow and twisting. Plus side, easy to find and very central location. Also had no problem parking about 5-10 min walk away. A little TLC it could be a gem but definitely not worth the money paid as it is. Hosts have said on other comments they welcome feedback so they can fix but issues still in place that guests have been pointing out for 2 years! Whitby is full of great accommodation. Not here.

great location, lovely little cottage type house, really let down by needing a spruce up Positive: great location, quirky little cottage, clean and tidy Negative: stairs were fairly dangerous with hardly any hand rails, anyone with mobility issues would really struggle with them. The mattresses were shocking!!! well overdue replacement. fixtures and fittings were worn and tired.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

This property has been well upgraded. However, the steep gradient of the stairs is worsened by the lack of a safety hand rail. I visited with two guests in their 80s and inevitably one slipped from the stairs and narrowly escaped injury. I warned the host a week before our arrival of the danger yet they failed to install an adequate hand rail. Threadneedle Cottage is well situated in the heart of Whitby, albeit in a somewhat grubby back alley., right in the heart of the action. The kitchen/diner/lounge has all you might need during your stay - dishwasher, cooker and microwave, also crockery, glasses, cutlery and other utensils. There's a TV with Sky. There are two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Heating is provided by electric radiators which more than coped. The beds were clean and comfortable. There was mould in one shower and a towel rail starting to come away for the wall. Otherwise decent value accommodation, but I can't recommend because of the hand rail issue!

8/10 would definitely stay again. Positive: The cottage was lovely and exactly what I expected for the price. The beds are comfy and the whole cottage was clean. It was perfect for myself, partner and in-laws. Parking display was provided too and it was a short walk from the cottage to our car. Negative: Nothing really 8/10 overall in my opinion. I think however if you are planning on spending more time inside the cottage then things such as the couches being a little bit hard and the lack of door to hide the broom cupboard may be off putting.

GuestAirbnbMay 2025

My daughter and I have had a lovely quiet 4days. Everything was as expected and advertised. Every room was homely. The bedding was immaculately clean and ironed too. We are definitely returning to Needlethread Cottage.

BoothBooking.comOct 2024

Great location Positive: Great location, nice cottage but needs some tlc Negative: The mattresses where absolutely shocking need replacing ASAP, the shower heads where mouldy especially the top floor one, my son refused to shower in it, it was clean ish but found the kitchen cupboards with stains down them, crumbs on the work tops which I cleaned, and dust on light fittings, lamps etc, also looks like renovation work is been carried out with half jobs finished and not cleaned after, white plaster on first set of stairs all the way up, also the cleaning stuff, vac etc just chucked under the stairs in full view, Could do with a curtain or something. It's a beauitful place and I'm sure once all is corrected it will be a lovely cottage.

LindseyBooking.comJul 2024

Cosy cottage Positive: Fantastic central location for getting out and about in Whitby. Kitchen facilities are very good, everything you would need and tv should you want it. Bedrooms and bathrooms comfortable and nicely fitted out and decorated. Heaters downstairs and in the bedrooms should it get chilly. Negative: No handrail on stairs proved tricky especially for my 82 year old mum. It looks like refurbs are ongoing but this has to be a must with the stairs being so steep. The settees and mattress on second floor are past their best and need to be replaced to be comfortable. The under stairs storage needs to be changed, everything dumped and on view, not what you want to see although understand storage space is limited. A deep clean throughout is required in corners and on bedroom surfaces.

Great location and good value Positive: Great location, lovely log burner Negative: Sofas not very comfy

Beautiful, comfortable and really good value for money Positive: Really good location, easy to find and comfortable Negative: Stained drawers/vanity in rooms, covered in marks. Furniture could do with replacing and hard to unpack cases from car and unload to cottage but I know this is due to location

I’m not going to go on here as the trip itself was fantastic, this was made up from the fantastic location and quant residence. The Good - Whitby itself and the location. The cottage is beautiful and right in the middle of where you need to be. The contact ‘Charlie’ ONLY - he was very responsive and tried to resolve issues. Clean and comfy beds. The Bad - Stains on walls and furniture, as we had a dog with us and we understand a dog friendly property we didn’t mind. Needs some love and a good clean, however ok for a couple of days (the beds were spotless) NO WIFI - this booking stated WiFi, although this wasn’t a business trip I had emails to respond to and couldn’t (also meant no TV) Attitude of a response from the hosts (this wasn’t signed Charlie who was very helpful) this caused me to seek compensation and get Airbnb involved as I felt this was very unprofessional. As I said all in all we had a great time but as in many of the other reviews it’s a shame that this is let down.

Don't stay at this property, absolutely horrendous and it's located right next to noisy pub / night Positive: This property is disgusting for cleanliness. Not vacummed, a dirty cloth was used to wipe the hob, tap and worktops. My wife placed clothes on the coat hagers then when taken off to wear they were full of white dust!!!!! Absolutely never again. We went home a day early it was a disappointing stay....never again!!!!! We contacted Host and Stay at 4.55pm our first night but no reply, they eventually returned our call at 8.22pm asking if they could send a cleaner which we refused as we go to bed at 9pm, if they would even arrive the same night. Absolutely never going to use Host & Stay ever again. The insurance they charge is a con, bedroom carpet was burnt by an iron previously and hasn't been renewed. Negative: See above

Very happy with our stay, our comments are advised to help; would use again as Whitby is a favourite Positive: The communication with Charlie was excellent. The property was very quirky / cosy and well equipped. Negative: We had ongoing problems with the wifi - all 4 of us. FB pictures not loading and the Alexa we brought was really intermittent which spoiled our music options. Clearly there was work underway to wall panelling, bannisters and damp areas which was a bit of a negative yet we understand it was needed. Honestly the 2 settees, were quite grubby and could do with cleaning / replacing.

Thread needle cottage issues Positive: Near to harbour and the old town. Negative: Cleanliness of cottage, dangerous stairs and small handrail came off the wall. Upstairs mattress not comfortable. Leaking top floor shower, ceiling of second floor bathroom was wet and water leak near electric spotlights. We were told not to use showers until workman came out to fix, although think the water leak needs a full repair rather than a sticking plaster repair.

AVOID, FILTHY, DIRTY, SMELLS Positive: NOTHING, AVOID Negative: AVOID, FILTHY, STINKS Avoid this property at all costs, the website pictures look stunning but not in reality, this property is absolutely filthy, all the kitchen equipment is unuseable, either broken, chipped , stained,  burn marks on trays, the kettle , toaster and microwave were badly stained ,these items have definitely not been washed from previous stays, our pictures speak volumes, there is a foisty smell that hits you as soon as you enter the property , the sofas are rock hard, no hot water in the en suite, scalding hot water in the bathroom, booking.com thought this was acceptable as the kitchen tap was working. We complained,  but no one came to fix it even though booking.com said they did . the shower cubicles were filthy and dirty, and the property advertised two double beds, but  one of the beds were two single mattresses on a double base, and you could feel the springs, our granddaughter had to share our bed. Your feet stuck to the kitchen floor, and the steep stairs are very dangerous. The lamps were stuck to the bedside cabinets, the small mirror was lop-sided and also stuck to the table. We complained to booking.com and asked for a refund. At first, it was declined, and then they asked us how much we would like, and then it got declined again. This property is unfit for purpose if you have already booked a stay here and find yourself in the same situation as we did, then we advise you to leave the property immediately and report it straightaway, then if you don't get a refund from booking.com you can do a charge back from your bank, take pictures for proof. The location was perfect, but the alleyway was dirty with dead birds, and the noise from the pub was loud, so don't expect much sleep. We had a very disappointing stay with our granddaughter, we have been let down, we can't understand why booking.com is still advertising this property  . Here are some photos of the disgusting property. We took 50 in total.

Location perfect , quirky house with all the things you’d need Positive: The location and quirkiness ! It was laid out well Negative: Looks a wee bite tired but I imagine it’s just down to having a busy year

Great location of a very characterful cottage in the heart of Whitby, within walking distance to all the major landmarks and amenities. The premises are well equipped with all you need for a relaxed stay, pristine cleanliness, very attentive and responsive hosts, fresh linen and towels. The car parking is thought through.

Central but tired. Positive: Central, middle floor bedroom cosy and comfortable. Negative: Attic bed so very uncomfortable. Two bad nights sleep, could feel the springs in the mattress, dreadful. Some crockery unclean, wine glasses and cups were poor/limited. Paint flaked off the wall on the stairs when you walked past and some areas need replacing/painting.

JohnBooking.comAug 2026

Will not be going back. The property needs a really good clean Positive: Location as OK, close to the harbour and station Negative: The property smelled disgusting , It was damp, dirty and looked like it hadn't seen a cleaner in ages. Paint was peeling off the walls. There was a dirty black stain on the bedroom carpet. Had to buy cleaning products & air freshners to make it bearable.

Birthday trip to Whitby Positive: Great location! Beautifully decorated. 😍 Modern facilities and appliances. Strong WiFi signal. Shower 🚿 was nice and powerful. Negative: Sofas in the lounge we're terribly uncomfortable. The attic room is 2 twin beds pushed together. We were a couple, so this wasn't ideal. The accommodation hadn't been hoovered. Bits everywhere on stairs and in bedrooms. So had to hoover myself.

TeresaBooking.comJul 2026

Old Cottage Positive: The Location was excellent. The bedding and bathrooms were nice and clean as was, the kitchen and living room. Negative: The approach to the cottage is through a small alley which was very dirty from irresponsible dog owners not picking up their dogs poo also bird droppings and pee. The whole alley needs a good swilling out. The smell of dogs as you walked into the front door. The tight winding stairs were in our opinion quite dangerous. The landing to both staircases really need a safety guard. There was a yellow stain on 1st floor bedroom carpet which was still wet, I think previous guests had a dog, which must have pee'd and the cleaning team had missed it.

GillBooking.comJul 2026

Overall good location to see Whitby. Positive: Location is good. House was clean. No working door handles on bathroom or bedroom on first floor. Not enough glasses for four guests. No hooks for towels on second floor. No mirrors for ladies. Spend £50 and this could all be made good. It’d be worth it!

LilianBooking.comJul 2026

Poor service when a leak developed and wasn’t rectified during our stay. Cleaning items on show. Needs a deep clean. Doo Positive: Location was good Negative: It had 2 bedrooms & two bathrooms

MarianBooking.comJul 2026

Nice cottage with lots of character but would not stay there for more than a few days Positive: Close to facilities and the harbour area Negative: Very hard to find . Did not use the parking permit as too far away but did use the long stay car park after 6 for free. No tin opener at the cottage. Could do with a dressing table or similar to do hair, had to sit on the landing where there was a mirror on the first floor

CaroleBooking.comJul 2026

PatriciaBooking.comJul 2026

Raining in Positive: Quaint cottage, as our first experience of this type of holiday Negative: Having to clean up following a downpour of rain on the second day, which came from the attic room down to the first floor and ultimately to the ground floor. There are clearly some major issues with the roof/ guttering. Water could be seen running down the internal walls, flooding the table, chairs and water standing on the laminate kitchen floor which could possibly have now blown, which led to a fusty smell on entry to the property. Numerous photos and email were sent to the agents and to be fair, they showed concern and did contact me the day after and sent a helpful maintenance operative. Of course this whole episode didn't exactly bode well for the rest of the holiday.

Comfortable home in a great location Positive: Good location. Comfortable property. Tea & coffee provided Negative: No oven gloves

SimonBooking.comJun 2026

KirstyBooking.comMay 2026

Amazing family time. Positive: The location was amazing right in the heart of whitby.

SamBooking.comMay 2026

Negative: We are writing to formally raise serious concerns regarding our recent stay at the cottage and to request an appropriate refund. We booked this property based on the description and photographs provided in the advertisement, which presented the cottage as clean, safe, comfortable, and family friendly. Unfortunately, the condition of the property upon arrival was completely unacceptable and did not match the standard advertised. The cottage was visibly unclean throughout, with dust, dirt, clutter, and broken furniture stored under the stairs. Several advertised features shown in the listing photographs were either missing or not as described, including the rug in the lounge and dressing table chairs, which we later discovered broken and stored away. In addition, the sofas were extremely uncomfortable and unsuitable for a relaxing family stay. Our primary concern, however, is the serious safety risk posed by the staircase. During our stay, my partner slipped near the top of the stairs while carrying our 17-month-old son. She has since suffered pain and injury to her back, hip, leg, and foot. Thankfully our son was not injured, but the situation could easily have resulted in a far more serious accident. Had the fall occurred even slightly lower down the staircase, both of them could have fallen through the large open gap onto the lower landing, with potentially catastrophic consequences. Given this incident, we do not believe this property can reasonably be described or marketed as “family friendly.” Furthermore, had the listing accurately disclosed the steep staircase, the excessive surrounding noise from nearby pubs and seagulls on the roof, and the overall condition of the property, we would never have proceeded with the booking.

GillBooking.comMay 2026

Negative: Car parking permit

SharonBooking.comMay 2026

Best location, if the property was clean and had more of what you need, it would boost ratings. Positive: The location was brilliant. Quirky cottage with nice features and modern design. Bedrooms nice and spacious. Good showers. Negative: I read the reviews before going so decided to contact the host before going to make sure there was a frying pan, oven grill pan, that it was properly cleaned and the sofa was fixed. They use an AI bot, which gives a lovely response but none of it is followed up by a human. If it was, it would be much better. Had to buy a frying pan, and the place was filthy. The mattress topper looked like it had been wee on several time, sheets were clean on top but gross underneath. The fireplace and all surfaces, microwave, fridge all dusty and dirty. Dressing tables looked like they've never been cleaned. Stuff dumped underneath the stairs which needs to be taken away. Paid £60 for cleaner, probably did a fivers worth. Car parking scratch card was confusing because of the 3 hour limit road signs, but the card does override this. Each card lasts two days, so you have to scratch off the date the next card starts for consecutive ones. The bot kept saying date of arrival but that's just for the first card. Windows are thin, so be prepared to hear the seagulls all night. The gap underneath the front door makes the lounge cold, but got some logs and kindling from the shop next door and lit the fire which was nice.

LornaBooking.comMay 2026

In need of a little love, but has everything you need. Positive: Great location, very close to the train station and carpark. The bedrooms are spacious and the colour palette is consistent throughout the property. Dishwasher tablets, toilet roll, shower gel all provided. Beds and linen good quality. Sky tv provided which was a nice plus. Negative: The property is a little tired. I was surprised to see a broken vanity stool under the stairs with an empty wine box and a bag of Christmas decorations. I paid extra for damage protection, but I needn’t have bothered. The dining table was stained orange, mirrors above the bed were missing in the top bedroom (exposing fittings), there was a large stain on the first bedroom floor and most of the furniture had obvious sign of wear. There was a B&M sticker on the toilet brush which didn’t scream luxury. The bedside tables were so dusty, as were the backs of the wooden beams on the doors. The main living room space had a floor that never felt clean, my son’s socks were filthy after walking on it. We swept and hoovered multiple times. I get holiday lets are used and loved, however with a little bit of maintenance this property could be back to its former glory.

The stay was nice, could have been a bit more clearer in the original correspondence regarding parking. We got the W scr Positive: It was local to everything Negative: It could have been cleaner. There was cobwebs round the windows and carpets not cleaned properly

StrikeBooking.comMar 2026

Lovely location Positive: The location was absolutely brilliant. Both bathrooms are lovely and the place has a lovely quirky feel to it. Fresh bedding and towels. Negative: A few things that we felt would improve it. firstly, whenever we stay in whitby, we like to cook breakfast before heading out for the day, but unfortunately, the oven had no grill pan and also no frying pan in the property, so we couldn't cook. Secondly, although the bathrooms are immaculate and the bedding etc all spotless, the cleaning standards with things like the wood flooring downstairs and the carpets upstairs could be improved with a good deep clean. Downstairs seemed like it had been swept but not mopped and our socks got instantly dirty from walking around. The carpets had stains on in the bedrooms however the carpets are nice, thick and look relatively new so it is just a cleaning issue. All in all we all agreed we would stay again because we enjoyed the property however we said we would come equipt with some cleaning products to give it the once over before unpacking. We just wanted to feed that back to the owner because if you are using a cleaning agency, they are letting you down.

Will never stay again Positive: Close walk to all amenities Negative: Living room was freezing with draft from door and windows. You could smell people smoking outside in the house. Gap under the door is massive. Water in upstairs taps is dangerously hot, I burnt myself a number of times and there are no hot water warnings. Bedside tables had food wrappers and broken mirrors in them - very dangerous! Stairs had not been hoovered. Cleaning materials just shoved near gap under stairs looks awful. Sofas in living room were tiny and very uncomfortable. Bed were rock hard.

carolineBooking.comJan 2026

Good location Positive: Location is the best thing about this cottage. Kitchen is well Equipped and the bedrooms are nice .WiFi was good . Negative: It’s very cold . The heating isn’t sufficient for the cottage . There is a fire with no instructions on how to use or light . There was food debris on the stairs carpets and black paint . The front door needs a draft exclusion on the bottom as there is a big gap . The place just needs a bit of TLC to get the scores up . Lots of noise from people walking down the alley way . And noise from the pubs .

JaneBooking.comDec 2025

Positive: The upstairs lovely and warm lovely white fresh clean bedding and towels Negative: Where to start, carpets were a little stained/ marked in quite a few places upstairs could really do with a good clean blinds etc, rubbish was left in top bathroom, toothpick left in drawer in 1st bedroom, shower trap filthy, shower head could do with a smaller head and it might work a bit better, living room absolutely freezing wouldn't warm up again in need of a deep clean sofas really hard and uncomfortable, hoover, mop bucket sweeping brush on show a curtain across that space along with one at the bottom of the stairs and by the door as you come in may help, the main door hard to open and close I even apologised to a neighbour incase i was making too much noise slamming the door, i had to clean cutlery before I could use any and only one cup, ended up buying some all in all it needs a really good clean not impressed especially for how much I paid, no instructions for the log fire or if it even worked

Fine for our needs Positive: We were booked on a trip from the harbour so the location was ideal. Negative: The cottage is in an alley between two pubs and the alley is used as a toilet. Children played knock and run until the early hours. There was a large number of flies in the kitchen which was off putting

SandraBooking.comOct 2025

Lovely close to everything Positive: Very central and clean

ClareBooking.comOct 2025

Health Hazard......AVOID Positive: The beds were comfy, that's it! Negative: This place is a health hazard. Dirty, unsafe, filthy. As soon as we walked in you were met by a load of clutter stuffed under the stairs. The floors were filthy, obviously hadn't been hoovered since the last guests left, at least! Oven, grill, pans, microwave disgusting and were not safe to use. Couldn't make a cup of tea because the kettle was brown inside. Sofas were that dilapidated the wooden arms stuck out of the material, causing multiple cracked elbows!!! Glasses had to be washed before use. Didn't even use the crockery or the utensils because they were stained and still dirty with leftover food still attached. The parking was a no go, so this cost an additional £12 per night, and added to the fact we couldn't use the kitchen to prepare any food or drink so we had to eat out, even if we just wanted a cuppa, this added more expense to our trip that we had not considered. There's mould in one bathroom, left over toiletries in the shower from previous guests, broken accessories, stained carpets, oh and a paper wrapper in a bedroom that contained what I can only imagine is a previous guests bodily fluid!! Bannisters with ground in dirt, bedroom furniture either broken, stained, damaged or covered in food splatters. A log burner which looks like an accident waiting to happen!!! Two bags of again previous guests bathroom rubbish just thrown and dumped in the under stairs. Hoover was left switched on and plugged in. All in all an absolute nightmare. Dangerous, dirty, dilapidated and a definite waste of money!!!! Do yourselves a favour and book somewhere else!

ClaireBooking.comOct 2025

Quirky, cosy, comfy Positive: The property was lovely, quirky, cosy, clean & comfortable. Its in a BRILLIANT location, centre of Whitby. We had all we needed, plenty of cutlery & crockery. I was really impressed with the amount of plug sockets in our (top floor) bedroom. I was also impressed with the bed, so comfy, slept great!! The only thing none of us could quite work out was the kitchen sink tap, from a hot water point of view. There were buttons on the top of the tap, to increase/decrease the temperature, but it only seemed to run warm. Negative: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like, although, after reading some of the previous reviews, i can understand why some people may have reacted negatively. Some of the bedroom furniture (top floor) was a bit scuffed & tired looking, but still perfectly serviceable. There were a couple of minor stains on the top floor bedroom carpet, apart from that, the carpet looked relatively new & clean. There were some scuff marks on the staircase wall, which to be fair is unavoidable given the narrow, steep staircase. The front door & inner door were a bit stiff on opening & closing, but it was never a major issue, just took a little “robust” pushing/pulling.

AmandaBooking.comSep 2025

Positive: Location was spot on. Quaint accommodation with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Negative: Parking wasn't at/near the property. Parked in a 'W zone' street with the provided scratchcard. Unfortunately the street turned into a 'H zone' further down which we hadn't realised until we got a parking ticket. We then didn't feel confident in where we could park so we paid for parking in a pay and display car park. Very expensive mistake 😕

Good location, very convenient and in the middle of everything. Hosts were very communicative with great response times. Great for a couple of days but wouldn’t recommend for any longer. Stairs VERY steep, a bit uneven and take some getting used to. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely - though the ones on the first floor do not latch. Overall, the place would benefit from some TLC and a few things fixing. I will say, the WiFi does not work at all, we had some issues with the TV being set up improperly and some general cleaning issues - ie. the third floor bathroom had a very dirty shower head and a bad smell coming from the drain. We had an issue where the door latched when we were outside - rendering us unable to enter and having to call for help - which is something to watch out for. There’s also a washer/dryer listed on the amenities for the property - but we weren’t able to locate these and don’t believe they’re there.

Good place to stay, ideal location - walkable distance to majority of Whitby. There was some miscommunication between myself and the host in which we were told that an engineer would be coming into the property to fix WiFi despite myself saying no. We were told assuredly that no one would enter the property but the host went back on their words a few times, that made the stay just a little less enjoyable. Other than that, good place to stay.

Well located, cute and comfy. Positive: Very well located, clean, light and bright, well kept and stocked. Negative: Just the tiniest thing, that I appreciate the accommodation is tiny and no cupboard space but the hoover and cleaning things are under the stairs which are open and it’s the first thing you see as you go in, but apart from that it’s perfect and as I say it’s a tiny little thing

Positive: Great location & lovely open fire Negative: Sadly we didn’t have a great day. Don’t like to write bad reviews but the bed on the first flowers broken the sofa in the room was broken. It wasn’t the cleanest on arrival. Most of the cups plates were chipped and marked telly didn’t work at all for our entire weekend. It is really a shame because the location is lovely and part of the apartment has been done up nicely if they have just repaired the broken things and kept the apartment up-to-date could be a little gem when we got back they asked us to do a review explained why we didn’t want to so they told us to put in a complaint. We sadly didn’t get anywhere with host and stay a customer service was really unprofessional never replied to emails

Unclean, unkempt and overall disappointed. Positive: the location was lovely and you could see that the property had real potential to be a lovely stay. Negative: most of the crockery had chips in which for a company is easily fixable, same goes for the stain on almost every piece of furniture, it had random nails sticking out of the wall behind the dining table, the bins had nothing in the to stop your rubbish going on the floor, furniture was chipping away, falling apart even and when you sat on the couch you pretty much went straight though it.

Great location but very poor in terms of look and feel for the price Positive: The location Negative: The property did not look like the photos. The beds were not very comfortable. There was no hand rail for the stairs. There was visible junk. Decorating started but not finished.

Uncomfortable Positive: Location brilliant Negative: Dirty sofas, uncomfortable beds ,cooking pans unhygienic scratched nonstick coating and dusty.

BrendaBooking.comSep 2024

Positive: I liked location central to everything ,colour scheme and pictures nice for holiday cottage Negative: I didn't like walking in to see clutter,Henry hoover and cleaning stuff dumped under stairwell.Dirty throw blankets over settee, beds.Very dusty, sink stained, mouldy tiles in shower,no hand rail on stairs dangerous walking up and down especially carrying wknd bag.signal was bad and couldn't get t.v to work well as had 2 boxes, sky and other.Carpets in bedroom was stained and cottage smelt of dogs.Decorating was in progress cladding on walls but wasn't nice to be seeing unfinished. No mattress or pillow protectors just a mattress topper because springy mattress.Such a shame as photos when booking it looked really nice but paying £258.40 for 2 days then after booking another £25 for insurance it was expensive and could have got something much better value and special. I couldn't download all photos to show how bad it was.

Negative: The TV and the internet didn’t work, and despite it being reported, nobody came to fix them. There was insufficient cutlery

Threadneedle Cottage is in a perfect location, very central to everything Whitby has to offer. We didn’t mind the noise of everyone enjoying themselves on Saturday night as that is to be expected with such a location. The cottage itself was a little bit tired, mattresses need replacing for definite and the bedroom furniture is stained and needed a wipe before we arrived. There was also a dirty cup put back in the cupboard. The panelling on the stairs is not only unnecessary (due to the age of the building) but also unfinished. The kitchen has everything you need except washing up liquid (although it had a dishwasher with tablets). The living area is small but they’ve maximised the space with how they’ve arranged the furniture and the bedrooms are big. It just needs a little bit of love and stronger WiFi!! That was shockingly bad!!

Disappointed. Could be fab if you had a maintenance team in for a week! Positive: Location was great as it was near everything and easy to find Negative: - Mattresses are awful, very thin with springs poking through - Mould in both showers - Paint peeling - Stained sofas, carpets and furniture - Plates & cups chipped - TV not programmed so couldn't watch anything - Mess under the stairs - Doors don't close properly - Dirty windows - Smelt fusty - No handrail on very steep stairs - Decorative panelling started but not finished

Where do i start about this property. Stains on the sofa and crumbs down the sides. There was cutlery and crockery left in the dishwasher from the last residents. As you go up the stairs, the skirting boards are very tatty, stains on the carpets throughout the property. In the bathroom the grouting in the shower was black with grime. This property needs some maintenance.

Just returned from a two night stay here, a couple of things to note before booking Positives -Good location -Enough room for 4 -Tv/Sky is a bonus (but apps don’t work because of signal) -All major essentials you’d need are provided, kitchen has everything Negatives -The stairs- this was my main issue with this house, we had three adults in our stay all without any mobility issues and the stairs are dreadful. They’re extremely steep, no handrail to hold on to and so easy to fall down, if you have children I wouldn’t stay here. -The parking again isn’t great, we got the scratch card then had to drive around to find a w zone and then walk up and down a hill to get the suitcases in which wasn’t idea, I’d park in the public car park and pay, it’s less hassle -The house itself needs tlc, the stairs looked like they were half decorated, furniture dirty in the rooms. When we walked in the vacuum, mops etc are just in the corner. -The beds are ok but very hard, need a thicker mattress

Fantastic location, right in the center of Whitby. The stay had all the basic necessities, new kitchen, a nice coffee machine (could have done with more pods), good showers albeit the bathroom was a bit cramped. Furniture and carpets felt a bit tired and in need of a bit of love. Although the property offers parking permits, I wouldn't recommend if you're driving as there's no nearby parking, ideal for travel by train. If you want somewhere that is central in Whitby, it would be hard to find somewhere better, the location is the absolute selling point.

Had a nice few days but the cottage needs some TLC Positive: Property is right in the centre. Cottage had everything you need inside. Owners were easy to get a hold off. Negative: Stairs were very steep without no handrails. Looks like they have started to decorate but they have stopped half way through doing it. Car parking availability is a good 7-10 walk away. Mattresses need changing as all the springs have gone.
