Loved it and would go back. Positive: Very cosy and immaculate. Bed comfy. Water pressure amazing. Location so close to main harbour and shops etc. loved it and would go back. Negative: Big enough for the two of us but would feel anymore would be a squeeze.

Really lovely, cosy, little cottage. Full instructions provided, all heating/appliances easy to use (for the heated towel rail you need to press the switch outside the bathroom door and press the "boost" button). It was clean and perfect for the two of us. The Christmas decorations in the cottage were a really nice touch as well. Bed and pillows really comfy. Great central location. We didn't use the car once we'd parked up; all shops, pubs, restaurants are just a short walk away, plus the seafront, Abbey/steps, and pier. We used the Marina car-park for unloading and loading, and parked about 10 mins walk away for the rest of the time. We felt really at home at Thimble Cottage and we will definitely book to stay here again. Thank you for an enjoyable stay, we loved our cosy Christmas break in Whitby.

Great location and perfect for a couple or a couple with a new baby that stays in a cot! Positive: The location is superb and paying for parking at the station is well worth doing. Negative: The property redefines the word 'cosy'. The ground floor is very, very, very small. With two small children it wasn't easy.

Complete waste of money Negative: The steps into the property were very steep and there was no handrail to help you get in both myself and my wife have mobility issues and really struggled getting in and out of the property we found it dangerous for us so we only stayed one night although we paid for 2 nights and had to pay extra to check in early the heaters were very poor and only stayed on for a couple of hours before you had to restart them we were cold 🥶 there was no mention of people who had mobility problems might have problems here and the fact it was down an alley with steps at each end to get to the property, it was impossible to get my wife's mobility scooter there, it was a very disappointing weekend especially as we were celebrating or 40th wedding anniversary

I am a regular visitor to Whitby.This was a most enjoyable stay in a well appointed cottage. Positive: Comfortable cottage.Great location on harbourside.Convenient for shops and most of resort attractions. Negative: STEPS..I am a blue badge holder and have difficulty with stairs.This property had 3 stone steps to front door and then tight winding stairs to the first and second floors.Not perfect,but hey ho,I managed.

Cosy and comfortable little cottage Positive: Absolutely beautiful property. Cosy and comfortable and perfect for a family of four. The location was great, we could walk to everything we wanted to visit. It's really good that a parking permit is provided to park your car nearby. All the instructions provided were easy to follow and informative. I would highly recommend a stay here if visiting Whitby. Negative: The only downside is that you can't park close to the property to unload and load bags but wasn't a major drama for us.

Lovely cosy cottage in Whitby - good for a family of four Positive: Lovely cottage. It's small but just what we needed for a family of four. Cozy seating area, good kitchen, comfortable bedrooms. It was very clean with good instructions on how to sort out things like heating. Great location in Whitby too!

Canny weekend for 4onthego Positive: Superb location for harbour and all amenities. Clean and well equipped cottage. Negative: Space very limited (but name indicated this would be the case) 2 couches not particularly comfy for 4 adults . If you are a light sleeper and on the upper floor the noise from the local night club and early morning seagull chorus may disturb you.

Positive: Location was great for Whitby town center and the Christmas Market Negative: The Heating is all electric and does take a little figuring out. BEWARE... Do not accidentally leave any items in the property after check out as you will not get them back after you leave ( accidentally left Christmas gifts in the property realized on arriving home contacted HOST & STAY who denied anything had been left in the property)

Great stay in a historic building Positive: Great place to stay with loads of character. Facilities were top notch too and you can just imagine the history of the building. Felt like true Whitby.

Unfortunate Positive: Location Negative: Had a leak in bathroom on shower which was pouring through ceiling near all electrical stuff and trying to get hold of someone to sort out was a nightmare took 2 hours and no further forward so we had to come home fighting at moment to try and get my money back

We had a great stair and would not think twice about booking again. If the stairs are not an issue for you thenI would h Positive: Location, parking permit supplied, cleanliness, warmth, beds were extremely comfortable. Everything we need in a quaint old property was provided. Negative: The very steep staircase will not be for everyone but was no problem to us. Apart from that we loved the property.

Wonderful, peaceful and very convenient Positive: Location is amazing, perfect for 3 people. Very clean and had all the facilities you need. Very cosy. Negative: Hot water was minimal. I’d didn’t last very long for both showering or washing up which in winter will be a problem. It would be nice to have a hot shower.

Cute cottage in great location but trade offs are noise and no parking Positive: Great location. Easy to gain access. Good communication from letting agent. Cottage had everything we needed for a few days. Negative: Quite loud in the evening and neighbours. Disappointed to not have shower gel and toilet roll. Obviously no parking but that is manageable.

Very clean and beautifully furnished. Handy for getting to all parts of Whitby.Would certainly recommend and return.The only negative, free parking in the allowed zones was impossible with the roads full of cars already. We needed to pay at the car park for the duration of our stay. About a 5 - 10 min walk away.

Great place and very central. It is down a narrow side path which was hard to find initially but meant that the place itself was away from the busy streets and nice and quiet.

Could have been great. Positive: Lovely little cottage in a great location. Negative: For the 3 days we stayed we didn’t have a a shower that worked which ruined our stay. It was reported on arrival and not fixed until we were leaving to go home. Such a shame as it would be a lovely place to stay.

Positive: The cottage was clean, tidy and comfortable. The location of the cottage was ideal, close to all amenities including shops, bars, restaurants and the harbour. Negative: If I had one gripe, it would be the parking, not the cottage's fault, its Whitby in general. We drove around the paid car parks for 40 minutes on arrival trying to get a space to unload our belongings. Once that was done, we checked in and got the parking scratchcard before again heading out looking for an available space. So a lot of hassle to begin with.

Positive: It had everything we needed. No parking at the property, but you could park not too far away. Convenient location for shops and restaurants. Negative: No parking at the property.

Thimble Cottage exceeded expectations Positive: Thimble Cottage exceeded expectations and provided the perfect setting for a relaxing and memorable getaway. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the cottage's charm and meticulous attention to detail. The cozy interior, complete with comfortable furnishings and thoughtful décor, created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The amenities were top-notch, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The comfortable beds ensured a restful night's sleep, and the spotless cleanliness throughout the cottage was truly impressive. Negative: Shame about the rather rough pub at the end of the yard (The Station Inn) drunks staggering out all Friday and Saturday night shouting and going in the yard as they staggered around. The area was fine every other night but the town seems to be a magnet for alcoholics at weekends.

Will definitely return. Positive: Loved the location, the facilities and how beautifully clean it was.

Disappointing would not return. Positive: Bed linen and towels were clean. Negative: Unsafe restricted cooking area, was difficult enough with the sink next to cooker to wash mugs. Room was cold downstairs due to the front door, heating difficult to work, room too small for all the kitchen cupboards. Wasn’t pleasant or comfortable to spend an evening in.

Deeply disappointing experience and horribly unresponsive customer service Positive: The property was clean from inside and had a well equipped kitchen. Negative: The staff is extremely unresponsive and irresponsible. It has been 14 days since I submitted a complaint form. There is radio silence from Host and Stay and there has been no attempt to resolve the issue. I had booked Thimble Cottage for 2 nights, 26-28 June. I had planned to pay the damage cover upon my arrival at the property as it is an unusual charge that has never been requested at any other property. Booking.com also flags external links in the app’s chat window to make the customer wary of phishing attacks through external links. It was natural on my part to wait till I get to the property and pay any legitimate damage covers there and then. I did not receive any check in details up until the check in time. After arriving at the property at sharp 4 pm on 26 June, I tried to contact Host & Stay via call, messages and email multiple times. Calls didn’t go through because the line was “busy” till 7:30 pm. I left multiple voice messages too after the beep. Most importantly, the link to make the damage cover payment was REMOVED from the booking chat. We did not have any code for unlocking the property key. After being stranded for 3 hours outside the door of the property, not being able to establish contact with anyone at Host and Stay, we were forced to book another place at expensive rates (£218/night) as we didn’t have a place to stay and this was the only place available. We made multiple calls and sent numerous messages to you throughout this whole process. We had luggage with us, were on the street for 3 hours, and had to forcefully book an expensive place last minute and had to spend further on the commute. This shook our trip’s budget and cause a lot of distress. The customer support staff from Host & Stay got in touch with us around 7:30 pm on 26 July and admitted that the link yo pay the damage cover was removed and was a fault on your end. We told them that we would be checking in on 27 July till 28 July.

We did enjoy our stay, however, the hot water stopped working for the last two days. Positive: Whitby is beautiful place, with great cultural and natural features. The accommodation was right in the heart of the town, so we could walk everywhere. The cottage is very clean, tidy, and well set up. Other accommodations are quite near, so you will hear some noise from the street or lane outside. This didn't interfere with our enjoyment or stay. Negative: We had no hot water for our final two days, it just stopped, cold showers for rest of our break. This wasn't ideal, but what can you do - as we were up and out early each morning.

Positive: It is a Morden, comfortable cottage in the heart of Whitby. Close to all the bars, restaurants and shops. Would definatley book again. Negative: Nothing.... It was a perfect stay.

Perfect local for newbies! Positive: Perfect location! Everything was so close by! The parking provided was extremely helpful. The basics were provided too which was a big help! The hosts provided a great guide too which helped us decide where we went. We would love to come back!

Very cute little place - a little smaller downstairs than expected but the photos were entirely accurate…and the bedrooms and the bathroom were lovely. The mock log burner added a cosy vibe downstairs which we enjoyed. The co-op was very close which was fab! We had a lovely time :)

The cottage is very central with parking close by at £9 for 24 hours. We enjoyed a nice meal at the moon and sixpence, very reasonably priced. The cottage its self is down a dirty alley way which is used by people leaving the pub at all hours and as the cottage has single glazed windows the noise was a problem late at night. After booking the cottage I was then asked to pay a fee for a damage waiver of £25, this should just be within the price. The £60 cleaning fee is a little steep as the cottage is that tiny it could be cleaned top to bottom within an hour. The cleaners obviously don’t check the crockery or utensils as some of the cups had sugar in and the plates were left with grease marks. As a host myself all drawers and cupboards are checked and everything washed ready for the next guests. The batteries in the remote needed replacing too. Little problems that are easily resolved with more care and attention to detail.

Cute little cottage. Perfect location. Parking can be tricky. I've never had to pay a damage waiver fee for a property before and feel like this should be factored into the price of the booking rather than a separate payment afterward.

Lovely cottage Positive: We liked the location, central to everything!! We like how cosy and comfortable it was too. Negative: A few to many cobwebs around and about, and the place felt damp until we worked out how to manage the electric heaters. Didn't like being woken at 1/2am by people passing after last orders at the pubs at the end of the yard.
