The Waves was the perfect base for us and our 3yr old. We've visited Whitby many times but having 2 balconies with views of the sea topped all the rest. The sunsets were a dream! Decoration and amenities supplied were ideal and accomodation is very generous with 3 bathrooms. Would love to stay here again.

Fantastic location, sea view and size of the apartment for what we needed for 4 adults & 2 children. As mentioned in previous reviews, carpets and the balconies could do with a good clean. A review and replenishment of glassware required too - only 2 wine glasses and 5 tumblers for a 6 person apartment. We managed for 2 nights. Kitchen cloths, dishwasher tablets and bathroom toiletries all provided which is a plus. Lots of automated communication from the company which manages to property. But also answered individual queries very promptly.

Wonderful property We had a wonderful family vacation and were lucky to have beautiful weather.

Such potential yet let down by basic cleanliness Positive: The view and location was perfect. Beds were comfortable and bed linen was clean. Negative: This is the third time staying with host and stay and it will be the last. Parts of the apartment were dirty , kitchen was very well equipped with mugs and glasses. The en-suite bathroom were our daughters stayed stank that bad neither of them would go in and the toilet door had to be kept shut so the smell didn’t travel. Fridge bottom draw was dirty. The kitchen bin was dirty and crumbs all on floor. Food mats and the table were a disgrace. The carpets were utterly disgusting!!! Host and stay you really need to teach your cleaners how to clean!!

Great weekend with family. Positive: Great location and really well appointed. Negative: Cleanliness could have been better. Cobwebs everywhere. For the price we paid I expected first class.

Lovely stay with family. The view made it worth it however, I was very disappointed with the level of cleaning. The prop Positive: The sea view was incredible and location was 5 - 10 minute walk into town. Negative: The furnishings were very worn, the carpets although hoovered were very marked and dirty. Overall the cleaning wasn’t great and not convincing that it had been cleaned. The sofa had bits on it, the cupboards had sugar/bits in them.

Beautiful and safe location, view from the balcony was superb, everything you needed in an apartment, shower was also lovely, I do think the carpets need a clean in the living room but that would not put me off as I know the apartment is pet and child friendly. 10/10 would reccomend.

Perfect location right next to the jaw bones and over looking the sea. We were lucky enough to sit on our balcony and watch a couple of dolphins within an hour of checking in! We were given parking permits to use during our stay but you could use the pay and display (on street parking) for just £6 a day anyway. 1 word of advice if you’re planning a trip to Whitby and want to eat out in restaurants on an evening - make table reservations well in advance and don’t expect to be able to just walk in off the street. We would highly recommend Pizza West that is a stone throw away from this apartment - really tasty! Our kids loved how close we were to all the fun - mini golf, trampolines, splash pool, motor boats and go karts are all on the same street. We loved it here and would love to come back.

Could be so much better First impression not great, with lots of dark marks on the white stairway walls. Great location and views, spoilt by lack of basic cleanliness; on arrival we saw dirty toilet in main bathroom with faeces in the pan, filthy carpet throughout, filthy table and chairs on balcony, visible wiring where a mirror should be on bathroom wall, cob webs in bedroom. Kitchen was clean but really difficult to open freezer drawers due to ice build up. Sad that this could have been so much better and more comfortable for all our family. For the price paid, it really needs to be cleaner. I tried calling the mgt company on the Friday morning, no answer but I left a message but nobody called back. I’d also look at adding a couple of beer glasses in the cupboard.

A great location to get into Whitby in 5 minutes. Steps to get down into town but not a problem for our group. Beautiful views from the property. Although three bathrooms only two are en suite. Not a problem for us but we didn’t realise until we got there. The property odd in excellent condition and looks recently refurbished. We would stay again.

Had a great couple days in Whitby staying at The Waves, very comfy beds and lovely apartment, maybe another chair in the lounge as was a little cramped for 6 adults but this wouldn’t put us off returning again in the future, would definitely recommend!

The apartment in great, ideal location opposite the beach, great coffee and ice cream shop outside the apartment. Whitby itself is a lovely traditional seaside town and only a 20 min walk away. The apartment was ideal, there were three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Perfect for six people. The balcony was an advantage, and was like having another room, the weather was hot so it was well used. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini break at the Waves and would go again.

had a fab couple of nights at the waves the apartment home from home clean and spacious. plenty for 6 adults host very responsive to any queries beautiful views of the sea from the balconies. one in the living room and one in the main bedroom. close to amenities and pubs. we were also lucky with the weather so bonus would definitely stay again

This was a really nice place for 3 young couples to stay. The view was incredible, the beds were very comfy and bedrooms were really clean. The biggest let down was that the exterior of the building looked like it needed a lot of TLC, with bird poo covering all the windows it meant you couldn’t properly look out at the view without going on the balconies. Considering this apartment is owned by a company, we’d expect the windows to be cleaned too. Previous comments from other reviews such as the pans and dirty carpet have not been resolved. It could easily have been one of the best places we’ve stayed if those issues were amended.

Great stay for 3 ladies meeting up. each had own bedroom and bathroom. Comfy and warm. Positive: perfect location for seeing whitby. Cliffs and beach below, view out to sea and coffee shop open till 7pm just outside! Negative: Nothing.

Perfect Stay Positive: The location is perfect looking out to the sea. Modern and clean apartment. Dog friendly too. Two balconies for the warmer days. Negative: Nothing to dislike. Just to mention lots of stairs to get to the apartment,so not so good for anyone with mobility difficulties.

We booked The Waves as a first trip away for our 3 month old, also bringing our dog and grandparents in tow. The property is in an ideal location on the West Cliff with easy access to the west pier and beyond. We visited in October so we had no problem using disc parking on the Royal Crescent, but there are a number of reasonably priced car parks nearby. We made full use of the property's open plan kitchen/living room to make food, play cards and watch films, and it was a perfect first trip away for us all. We will definitely come back!

Although the location was excellent and host accepted dogs, we found carpets badly stained and not fresh smell. It would be more hygienic to have hard floors. Our first night we had the downstairs bell constantly ringing with people trying to check in and unable to do so due to poor check in instructions. The kitchen I’ll equipped for 6 adults. We had 3 wine glasses 3 tea spoons, 5 forks and one dessert fork and only one pan and one frying pan that would work on induction hob. The chairs and table on the balcony had not been clean probably since previous season and the floor was covered in bird poo. The bedrooms were fine but once again the carpets not so good. The showers had no safety grip and very very slippery and dangerous. The entrance to the building was unkept and the staircase rail on the way up was filthy. Also the week before getting there we were asked to lay a non refundable £25 for damages based on that we thought the place was pristine and it wasn’t.

The 1 star is for the beautiful view. The general cleanliness of the property was appalling. The flat itself had a damp dog odour which wouldn’t leave even when sprayed, units had tea stains, carpet was massively stained, beds and sofa were untidy, windows smudged, rubbish left in toilet bins, carpets not hoovered and marks and chips on all walls accompanied with spiders. Host were extremely polite and responsive and offered to clean again, however, we had already come in and cleaned the property. I didn’t expect to have to do this when coming for a holiday.

6 Adults, 1 Toddler and the dog stayed at this apartment. Ideal location for us, the beach on the door step and only a ten minute walk into town. Easy to find and plenty of parking opposite the apartment( £9 for 24hrs) although they do provide one parking permit for your stay. The apartment was fine for us, there were a few issues which have been pointed out in previous reviews and still haven't been rectified but they didn't spoil our stay. Communication from Host & Stay was very good, always a prompt response. Lovely food at the Pizza West and we enjoyed our first visit to Whitby.

We stayed at this Airbnb for our mum’s 50th birthday and it was perfect. The location is ideal, had great views of the ocean and there was plenty of room for 6 people and 2 dogs. The only comment to be made was that there was a lack of glasses in the apartment for 6 people and there was quite a few spiders and flies in the top corners of the living room. Other than that we absolutely loved it and would stay again.

Positive: Location was perfect for Whitby although not for people with mobility problems. Sea view was fabulous. Beds comfy, clean and seemed to have everything we needed. Great communication with Host and Stay prior to our visit.

We recently spent a Christmas break in Whitby and had a fantastic time! The location was perfect—close enough to everything you need, yet peaceful enough to feel like a real escape. The accommodation was incredibly cozy and had a homely feel, making it the ideal spot to relax and unwind during the holiday season. The cleanliness was nearly flawless, with just a few cobwebs in the corners and a slight odor in the bathroom, but nothing that took away from the overall comfort of the place. It really felt like a home away from home. There are some great restaurants nearby, with a variety of options for every taste, and the walking trails around Whitby were just beautiful, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the area. Overall, our stay was so enjoyable that we’d definitely come back—100% recommend it for anyone looking for a charming Christmas break in Whitby!

Great location, lovely sea view and spacious apartment. 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 ensuites and 1 main bathroom. Clean but as other reviews previously mentioned- some old stains on carpet. We have had a good time and felt overall, good value for money.

A lovely family weekend away Positive: Lovely modern apartment, good sized bedrooms with comfy beds 3 bathrooms also makes a difference . The balcony’s are a nice place to sit and take in the views. Location is perfect a 5 minute walk into the center. We managed to park on the street outside which cost us £17 from Friday 3pm to Sunday 11am which I thought was reasonable. Had a lovely weekend here and would definitely come back it’s one of the better pet friendly places we have stayed Negative: 4 sets of stairs to the apartment are a killer especially when arriving and leaving but it wouldn’t stop us coming again and we knew this before we booked .My only complaints can be that there were 4 adults and 3 children but there were only 5 forks, no scissors or a spatula and the rug and one of the carpets had stains on them. Also I had to sweep and mop the balcony and wipe the chairs down before using but that took 5 minutes.

Satisfieing Positive: How warm the accommodation was..beds very comfortable.. nice white bed linen along with the towels..the view was lovely the balcony made a difference to that view. Negative: The entrance and staircases need a bit of tidying up would help to hang some wall art.. I notice from other comments from there stay that the dishwasher wasn't working , it still wasn't working when we stayed.. Bedrooms lacked storage space for your clothes LIKE a cubard are deep drawers for jumpers and jeans , you are having to live out of you suitcases ..

Well presented all as described. Perfect location for exploring Whitby and accessing coastal walk was right at front door. In winter this area is a lot quieter of course, parking foc was luckily available on road outside apartment. Be aware that there is no lift with stairs inside up to apartment - pack your bags accordingly! Bedrooms are good size, beds ok and 3 bathrooms are good. We were 4 adults- perfect. Probably a bit tight for 6 adults though, particularly in kitchen area. Kitchen and lounge area all as per photos, basic but appropriate. Problem with dishwasher reported to agent and will be sorted post our visit. Good communications with agent.

Positive: Incredible location, a five minute walk into town. Perfect place to enjoy the WGW. Beds were super comfy. Living room was a great size. Balcony had incredible views of the beach and the sea, you can see the Whale Bones Arch as you sit. Negative: Only issue we had was that the dishwasher wasnt working in the property but we were able to hand wash all of the dishes so no love lost.

Four of us really enjoyed our stay at the Waves. The apartment is well equipped, clean and spacious. Really appreciated the separate 3 bathrooms and 2 balconies with the sea view which was awesome! The location is quiet and within easy walking distance to the town centre (although it is uphill on the way home). The host is very quick to respond to any queries and is helpful.

Lovely relaxing break. Positive: Clean and tidy, comfortable beds,beautiful views short walk into town. Negative: Only 5 mugs,2 teaspoons3 glasses for an apartment for 6 people. Only 1 bedroom had hand soap. Freezer was totally iced up not a problem as we didn’t need to use it. This was reported so hopefully sorted for the next guests.

Perfect location we felt very safe

The property was easy to find, a great location with an amazing view of the sea. The check in process was easy and we had all we needed. The property matched the pictures and was very stylish. Quick and easy communication with the property host. I will be staying again in the future.

Disappointing Positive: We loved the location, just a minute from the 'Whale Bones' and the views from the balcony are fantastic. The apartment is modern, with 3 nice bedrooms and bathrooms with comfortable beds. Negative: What lets the apartment down is the cleanliness, and the facilities. The carpets were dirty, we have now learnt that the flooring is being replaced. The rug in the lounge had bits on it and didn't look like it had been hoovered. The glass plate in the microwave was dirty, as were the placemats and saucepan, the only ones that were clean were the ones that had a note on saying, not suitable for induction hob. There was a chocolate mark on the chair, which we cleaned off easily. There were lots of small black flies in the living area which seemed to be coming from the bin, they were landing on food and drinks which was very unpleasant. The equipment in the kitchen wasn't what we expected for such an expensive apartment. There was no salt, pepper, towel roll, cling film, foil or oven gloves. There were only 5 mugs, the apartment sleeps 6, although there were only 3 of us. There was 1 wine glass, 6 champagne glasses and 4 drinking glasses, I've never stayed in a holiday apartment with so few cups and glassware, it was ridiculous, especially for the price we paid. The dishwasher stopped working on the second day, none of the pots were cleaned, despite trying 2 different programmes. The living room, although fine for the 3 of us, wouldn't sit 6 people comfortably. We were disappointed with the apartment, it's a shame as everything that was wrong could easily be rectified, it seemed to us that the letting agent or owners just weren't bothered, and for over £640 for a 3 night stay, it wasn't good enough.

Positive: Rezension zur Ferienwohnung Die Ferienwohnung ist grundsätzlich sehr gut ausgestattet – besonders positiv hervorzuheben sind die drei Badezimmer, was bei drei Schlafzimmern wirklich komfortabel ist. Leider gibt es einige Abstriche bei der Sauberkeit: Der Boden in Küche und Wohnraum war bei Ankunft nicht sauber, ebenso war das Geschirr teilweise schmutzig. Auch an Besteck und Gläsern mangelte es, was bei einer Belegung mit mehreren Personen schnell unpraktisch wird. Ein weiterer Minuspunkt ist die Parksituation: Es gibt keine kostenlosen Parkplätze. Die öffentlichen Parkplätze in der Umgebung sind gebührenpflichtig (9 bis 19 Uhr), und es darf jeweils nur maximal 8 Stunden bezahlt werden. Zwar gibt es eine sogenannte „Scratch Parkkarte“, die vom Vermieter bereitgestellt werden könnte – dies wurde aber leider nicht angeboten. Positiv war hingegen die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter: Der Kontakt verlief reibungslos, die Bezahlung und der Einlass haben problemlos geklappt. Mit etwas mehr Sorgfalt bei der Reinigung und besserer Ausstattung in der Küche wäre der Aufenthalt deutlich angenehmer gewesen.

Great stay, easy to check in, great location, regular comms, would stay again!

Positive: The apartment is lovely and the sea views are great. We had a really nice stay. Negative: The cleanliness on arrival left a little to be desired... there was something on the light switch in the back bedroom that looked like blood - we wiped that off so its not like it was impossible to clean... there were cup rings here and there that were also wipable and the bits behind/to the side of the toilets were in desperate need of a clean... lots of dust build up there. Somebody had kindly left a false nail behind the kettle and there were a few sweets scattered here and there from previous guests. In all honestly this borhered us a little more because we asked if we could check in a little earlier as we arrived 3 hours before check in...we were told it wasnt possible due to their in depth cleaning process..

Stunning and comfortable Positive: The accommodation was beautiful, very modern and spotless. Had everything you could need. Beds very comfortable. Loved sitting out on the balcony taking in the stunning views of the sea.

We really enjoyed our stay apart from the bathroom smell Negative: Both on suites had a really bad smell from drains we had to buy cleaning product to sort it out and they was no light working in the back on suite we rang the number on Saturday was told the handman would come and fix it but it was still not working when we left Monday morning

Positive: Very modern Lovely set up Great bedrooms with en-suite facilities Comfortable mattresses with nice fresh linen Negative: Carpets are in desperate need of cleaning - just a few minor details such as cushions need washing and refilling then it would be excellent Hallway on the run up to the apartment is a bit grim - needs pictures rehanging that is in the floor - great amenities in the apartment - there was nothing that we needed to buy!

Watch out for the extra costs Positive: The Location of the apartment is very good. The layout is nice and it is spacious. Negative: We were 3 adults and the place is designed for 6 people however its not well stocked - not 6 glasses/cups etc. The balconies were littered with cigarette butts and seagull poop. The apartment wasn't ready on our arrival. The entrance and hallway is quite dirty and disorganised. All of the parking close by is paid by meter and can work out quite expensive. The Host company lack professionalism. Watch out for hidden costs - they won't send you the check in details until you've paid a £250 breakages deposit which is partially refundable - they keep a £10 admin fee! They also sent us a special offer to extend for a night. I replied to the message which they said they never received. We took them up on the special offer and they added another £10 "admin" fee. They also wanted a 2nd payment for accidental damages/ breakages etc. My final complaint is that I had to call up again on the day of arrival as, even after payment, they still did not send me the details for check in. I then received 10 messages over the 3 days with the requested information. I wouldn't use this company again. I don't like to feel deceived. They seem to have a monopoly of rentals in this area

Positive: Great location, and probably the best views in Whitby. The balcony’s are the best feature. Bed linen was lovely and beds are very comfortable. Negative: Carpets are very dirty, and the balcony furniture is rusty and could do with being replaced. We had to clean the tables and chairs before using them. Shame when this is the best feature.

Let down by cleanliness Positive: The sea view and having a balcony. Negative: How dirty the place was, I cleaned all the tables because they were really dusty and dirty, there was salt and pepper on the place mats. The main bathroom toilet seat was wobbly. The carpets were stained, the walls dirty, the marks came off when wiped with a cloth so couldn't understand why cleaners hadn't done this. Skirting boards and the fake plants were thick with dust.

Great location with good facilities Positive: Ideal position with good facilities. Especially liked having 3 bathrooms for 3 bedrooms. Negative: The balconies and the balcony furniture were dirty. The chairs rusty and a little unstable. There were very few instructions for white goods. There was a frying pan provided which was not compatible with the hob. The amount of stairs. Too many for the age of the group

Amazing views and wonderful location. Positive: Spacious rooms with en-suites in 2 of the 3 bedrooms, amazing views out to sea from the balcony. Clean and the apartment had everything we needed. Loved the open plan living area with stunning views. The location at the top of West cliff was fab, short walk into Whitby. Negative: The waves is up 3 flights of stairs, so a watch out for anyone with any mobility challenges. The balcony and windows could have done with a more thorough clean before we arrived but we went early in the year so just after winter.

Great communication. Feel there should be more of a write up on Airbnb so it is clear you are renting from another company not an individual like most of my Airbnb experiences, and that there is an additional deposit which is not mentioned. Great accomodation, easy to find. Ideal for exploring Whitby. Would not recommend for those with limited fitness/physical ability as lots of stairs up to the apartment. Three double rooms all with comfy beds, two with ensuite and one with a balcony. Handy family bathroom with shower over bath. Could tell it was the end of the season as the places was looking tired. Carpets throughout could have done with a shampoo. Unfortunately one of the ensuite bathrooms had a terrible smell upon arrival, this was resolved by ourselves tipping boiling water and cleaning fluid down the drains. This resolved the issue however not a great start and gives the impression the company do not maintain the property how an individual host would for Airbnb.

we really loved the apartment but please tell housekeeping to do their job Positive: we loved the location it was very convenient , the views are breathe taking , very spacious enough beds for 6 people. Negative: the cleanliness - place wasn’t cleaned properly for us on arrival , the dishwater reeked was full of old plates from the last people that stayed , food bits everywhere and the trash not being taken out :( there was stains on the bed and pillow sheets so I felt uncomfortable as I like things clean

Fabulous apartment in a great location. Great communication with the host and stay team. Everything was excellent. Just a couple of minor things. The hobs only work if you actually place the right side saucepan on them otherwise they just keep flashing and the check out time in the instructions states 1200 which is incorrect as it’s actually 1000. Can’t wait to return again soon!

Overall, the place was fantastic. it had a lovely view, the location was amazing, right by the beach and a nice walk into town.

This Airbnb is all about the incredible sea view, sunsets and proximity to everything worth doing in Whitby. Its balconies and location make it worth the money, especially if you get the weather we did. Downsides included contacting the host to find out what type of coffee maker was on site and never getting a substantive reply (it’s a French press, btw), trying to cook breakfast on the day we climbed up to the Abbey and having to sift through the many pots and pans in the kitchen until finding the singular pan that worked with the induction hob, and having screws and a wire exposed in the family bathroom where a shaver/mirror must have once been positioned. Oh, and bring your own supplies as the host is stingy with dishwasher tablets, kitchen & loo roll, tea towels, soap, etc. These were the bits that kept our stay from being absolutely perfect. Upside, the place was clean, well appointed (aside from the pans) and comfortable.

The apartment is in a good location overlooking the sea. In summary I didn't feel that it was great value for money, £590 for two days, but it was convenient and comfortable and quite modern. There was a bit of maintenence required, large gaps in the door frames and a mirror in the bathroom had been removed iexposing the wiring (made safe). The main issue I had was after booking the company contacted me for a £250 deposit that I wasn't expecting, and then for this there was an admin charge of either £10 or a deposit waiver that they tried to push on to me for £25. If you don't pay either of these they will cancel their booking with you. You need to be aware of this. I ended up paying the deposit which was returned to me withing a few days of leaving the apartment. The £10 admin for this leaves a bad taste tho.

The entrance and all communal areas were very dirty and unkept and the whole apartment itself was not clean, walls had scud marks and dirty stains on them and plaster split and cracking on each doorway in the apartment. The grey carpet was very dirty and needed at best a good clean or replacement and the walls everywhere were in need of painting. We had 1 saucepan and 1 frying pan to use to cook for 4 people as the new ones we found were not compatible for the induction hob ! The kitchen tongs only had 1 end to grip food so not usable. Baring in mind this is the start of the summer season and the high price we paid for our stay it was not acceptable and not worth the money we have been charged. Also having to pay a separate charge for an insurance cover to host and stay after payment to Airbnb is not acceptable. We would like this feedback taken onboard and a refund of the holiday total back as we paid over £1100 and the apartment was not up to the standard expected.

perfect stay Positive: excellently appointed apartment. lovely design. we loved the balconies. 2 en-suites and a separate bathroom. 5 min walk to harbour. ideal for a short break. Negative: might not be ideal for people with mobility issues

Wonderful first stay in Whitby ,The Waves was the icing on the cake ! Positive: The location was amazing ! The layout and the size of the rooms , the balconies being an added bonus and three bathrooms Negative: Nothing

Beautiful modern apartment just a 5 minute walk from town. Sea views are absolutely stunning with a takeaway cafe just opposite. Would highly recommend.
