Beware the hidden fees Positive: Great location in Whitby. Lovely to have the big windows in the kitchen area.The apartment makes a good base for a couple of days away. Negative: The accommodation is on the 3rd floor of a narrow and quite steep staircase. Not great when carrying bags up and down. Our main issue with this property was the extra money we were expected to pay in the form of a damage waiver. A week before travel, we were given the choice of a £25 non refundable waiver or handing over £200 (£190 of which would be returned up to 2 weeks after the visit). We couldn't afford £200, so basically had to pay another £25 on top of the original cost. I have booked many times with Booking. com and NEVER had this kind of extra payment added on. The late addition of this payment left a bit of a bitter taste and I will never book a Host and Stay property again - I could have booked another property in the same area without this extra, last minute payment. Communication from Host and Stay was also not good. Overall pretty poor service from them

Positive: Location and nice rooms. Near to centre Negative: For a 2 night stay the deposit was more than the room. £250 Which takes 2 weeks to get returned. If you are a person who needs that money which some couple might need this is not good.. also they take £10 off on return of receipt.. Don't think I'd go back.

Positive: The house was very great. We will come again. Negative: It was on the 3rd floor and you had to climb the stairs, this is a problem with a child and a stroller.

Clean the door please Positive: The kitchen and views from the flat were stunning as it's on the 3rd floor Negative: I called host and stay about parking as we had a disabled person with us who couldn't walk far. We had been told to park in a pay and display car park as they don't give permits for on street parking. No permit to even unload bags! They failed to tell us the Whitby tourist office can give you them but we found out ourselves so it only cost £8 per day instead of £24. If not it would have been an issue. The staff should get training about this. No living room as advertised on booking.com When I received the details from host and stay that confirmed this. It's really a 1 bed flat that has been made into a 2 bedroom. Windows on one of the bedroom doors which had no blind for privacy. Not an issue for a short stay but wouldn't stay longer. The other issue is The windows are filthy with bird poo as is the front door so you need to wash your hands after opening it. The cheap plastic blinds on the windows need to be black out blinds as they don't stop light coming in

Terrible experience Positive: Very nice. Good location. But we had to move property… Negative: We had to be moved due to gas & carbon monoxide leak. Took ages to get through to Host & Stay. They eventually moved us but were not happy. Travelling with a 4yr old and pregnant woman. Gas engineer turned gas and boiler off and said there would be no hot water or heating and to contact host. Host & Stay suggested we should go for a coffee and go back to apartment! The gas man left a certificate not to use gas or boiler. On the Monday evening the next visitors contacted us, thinking we owned the property as my details were in the paperwork. Host & Stay told them there had been no issues. Unprofessional company and while apartment they moved us to was lovely would not book via them again.

DO not book this Positive: Nothing Negative: Worst place we have ever stayed, was not safe to be staying at the previous people who stayed a day before us were evacuated due to the carbon monoxide alarms and a very bad smell of gas which an engineer came out and deemed the apartment unsafe something we were not told and still allowed to stay at. we discovered there was no hot water or heating as the engineer had turned them off the day before due to potential risk to life. Host and stay knew this as the previous people were evacuated and given alternative accommodation. we spent hours on the phone that evening we arrived trying to speak to someone at host and stay and explained our son was asleep and we had set up his birthday gifts for him for the next morning as we had booked the trip for this reason. They were not helpful at all im fact made us feel like we were the problem. we left first thing as soon as our son woke up we had to pack up his birthday presents and leave and wait 9 hours until we could get into another hotel. His birthday was ruined. worst experience we have ever had!!!!

We loved our stay here, the place was absolutely beautiful. We loved sitting with the doors opening and looking out or watching the tv together. This property is in an ideal locations with lots of great pubs, cafes and shops nearby. My only criticism would be my first impression: when we walked up the stairs there was tissues and rubbish on the stairs, we would have expected the cleaner to have got rid of these.

The owners, for some reason, couldn’t make up their mind whether or not a parking scratch card was included or not so ha Positive: The view from the kitchen was beautiful Negative: Stains on bed head. Pretty uncomfortable mattress too. Shower for some reason had v low water pressure.

Central location and beautiful apartment

Ummm Positive: Well equiped nrw kitchen Negative: The bed was the most uncomfertable i have ever tried to sleep on . Cheap pillows . Very low bed . The stairs leading upto the apartment are dirty , narrow, steep. No where to sit and chill. Thete is plaster falling from the kitchen in one atea . I would also day not as clean as it should be.

Not good Positive: Nothing Negative: The property was dirty, they was 4 adults and only 2 chairs, but on the website shows 4 chairs??? Equipment not good. The last day we had no electricity, 4 phone calls and 2 hours later it came back on, customer service was shocking

Nice veiw Positive: There was plenty room in the apartment,a good size for 4 people...Being on the 3rd floor is a bit of a treck but not too bad...bonus is the bifolding doors and the view. Negative: I thought the pin i was sent was for the door code,but that was sent after i had to call them..bit of a delay getting in...plus the key holder wouldnt lock as i left....i do think check in is late 4 pm wen u have luggage...and check out is 10 am

Accommodation was good. Disappointed about the washing machine as I needed to use it. Negative: Washing machine didn’t work No wi fi Claimed there were toiletries but it was a small bar of soap

Clean flat in a wonderful location with a lovely view. Bed should be upgraded. Positive: Location is amazing. Easy access to the whole of Whitby - close to train station, bridge, restaurants, beach. Flat was very clean. Each of the large bedrooms had a couch. View from the kitchen is lovely. Negative: The bed & mattress in the larger bedroom is uncomfortable. It’s a basic foam mattress on slats that sits low to the ground. To get the view, have to climb 3 flights of stairs that would be challenging for anyone with limited mobility.

Positive: Nothing. The place was well overpriced Negative: Carpets were loose in door frames. Kitchen had bad paint work peeling and cracked with the doors windows not cleaned.

Disappointed that it wasn’t cleaned when we arrived but did get cleaned eventually but was a lovely apartment with great Positive: The property was modern and comfortable with beautiful views of town and sea from Juliet balcony Negative: Wasn’t cleaned when we arrived at our apartment but luckily cleaners came a hour later so we went out while that was done not a great start to our holiday but was cleaned eventually also the 3 floors to get to apartment was a workout not good for anyone with mobility issues,but worth the views once you in apartment

Has so much potential but definitely wouldn’t go back.. Positive: The view is amazing, great location… the property has the potential to be outstanding. Negative: It’s was really dirty, we were shocked hadn’t been hoovered for a long time as their were crumbs & fluff everywhere, the thick dust on everything proved it hasn’t been dusted for a few months, their were hairs in the shower… the mattress in the main bedroom is paper thin and very uncomfortable, the bed is also very low so hard to get up and down from and the excessive amount of emails and messages the company sends about your stay is way too much!

Lovely bright apartment in a great location

The View Positive: Ease of use, great location. Accommodation was clean, excellent facilities and really comfortable. Made our trip to Whitby a memorable experience. Negative: Parking was an issue but managed to book a space nearby

Positive: The view and the bedrooms where lovely Negative: Lot of furniture was broken or very worn out. Like mirror frame broken and dinning table chairs on there last legs and very stained

Good location, overall a nice apartment over priced in my opinion for an 18 hour stay. Negative: The larger bedroom of the two didn’t have a comfy bed it was too low and the mattress was poor. The water pressure for the shower was very poor and it would have been nice to have an additional bathroom.

Lovely stay in Whitby Positive: Very spacious apartment, nice decor and in a great location. The bedrooms were huge as were the beds, also very comfortable. The view from the kitchen was lovely. Negative: No lift to the third floor but great exercise with all the stairs!

Overall was disappointed in our stay unfortunately. First impressions: stained hallway carpets to property (using plush carpet for heavy foot traffic entry to multiple properties isn’t a good idea, but if selected should be cleaned/maintained), bathroom lock falling off, bedroom door almost impossible to close, stains on the side of the bedframe, sticky remote. Received a link to a helpful guide mentioning coffee pods for the machine, but no machine (or pods) in the kitchen. I messaged to enquire and received an autoresponse “there is one”, when I replied it was missing, I received no response at all (no acknowledgement or apology, let alone a solution…) The place felt unmaintained/lack of care: kitchen chairs felt they were going to collapse at any moment, slapdash painting of walls, bathroom lock (as above), cracked shower tray….. A large superking bed ruined by the cheapest mattress (could feel every spring making for uncomfortable sleeping). However, nice location and views.

Lovely clean, spacious apartment on the 3rd floor with a nice view over Whitby. Well equipped kitchen. Fantastic location, right on a lovely street with nice shops and restaurants in the centre. Also near a good park. A bit disappointed it did not have a comfortable longe area, only a sofa in main bedroom and the kitchen chairs which I had not realised when booking. Otherwise a great stay Thank you.

Not clean enough I had to clean on arrival the mattresses need to be replaced in larger room Positive: The view was lovely and it was well equipped and modern 3 TVs throughout the property cooker dishwasher etc Negative: It’s was extremely dusty all cupboards bedsides and window sills were thick with dust and the double mattress in the larger room was terrible a heads up about the 52 steps would of been appreciated

Our stay was pleasant once we got into the property and we bought some toilet roll and shower gel. Positive: Location was excellent. Negative: The lock box was a nightmare to get in to once we realized which box was ours (the instructions were for apartment 3 but there wasn't an apartment 3 only 1, 2, The View and The Penthouse). When we tried to contact the owner we couldn't get a reply. Luckily after about 15mins we eventually opened the box. Also there was no toilet paper or body wash at the property and I had to find a shop which was difficult as it was a Sunday morning.

Overall enjoyed the stay. Location was good and you can see why it's titled the view.. Appartment clean and spacious. Everything you need for your stay is there. Mattress, were a bit too soft and very bouncy when one moved so did the other Main downside for older guests would be the steps to the upper two rooms, (50plus)

Satisfactory, but property lacked finishing touches. Positive: Central location, view, heated towel rail, ease of access. Negative: Mattresses uncomfortable (springs could be felt), no toilet roll provided, no easy parking nearby.

Great apartment in a great location really pleased with it Only 2 minor issues Kitchen floor wasnt properly cleaned and lots of food crumbs left from previous visitors, real shame considering we get charged £60 from airbnb for cleaning id expect the place to be properly cleaned Also large crack in shower tray which is worrying due to only bathroom in apartment we had to use it but used as short of time as possible as to not leak water through to apartment below, also but concerning if someone cuts there feet on it as possible sharp edges

Wonderful and special Positive: We only had one consideration that the washing machine did not work, which would have been really useful. Also, maybe provide more than one toilet roll. Provide a little hint brochure of what you can do on your stay.

We absolutely loved our time here. the location is ideal and the apartment is lovely. The view from the kitchen was my favourite thing! We would love to stay again. Bed in smaller bedroom was super comfy!

This was our first Airbnb and it was great. We all had a fantastic time and would definitely use it again.

Great views Positive: Second time we have stayed here. Great location . Great view . And overall a great place to stay . Negative: A lot of steps to the apartment. Patio doors were very dirty . Toilet wasn’t cleaned . But I’m putting this down to being out of season.

Lovely apartment, shame it wasn't clean. The host was really friendly and the guidebook they sent us was really helpful. It's a wonderful apartment, in a great location with stunning views, but unfortunately it wasn't clean. The kitchen floor was covered in crumbs and clearly hadn't been hoovered or swept. The shower had hair in it and the toilet had skid marks in it. In general, the bathroom needs a deep clean. The sink and shower are covered with old dirt and the grouting in the tiles needs a good scrub with a toothbrush. If it had been clean, I'd be giving 5 stars but when you can't even be bothered to clean the toilet properly then unfortunately I can't rate it highly.

Very central location - easy to get to things. Good size rooms etc Very pleased overall. Stairs up to higher floors are steep if you have an elderly person or someone with walking issues - take your time

Apartment was lovely although when entering the building and heading to the apartment the staircase and entrance were dirty and in need of a clean. The apartment didn’t have coffee milk or toiletries which I know some places don’t but for what we paid I thought they would off overall lovely place with great view

Men det var det heller ikke noen lovnad om i annonsen. Bratte trapper opp til 3 etasje, bør informeres tydelig om så mindre bevegelige mennesker ikke går på en smell.
