So the house is great . The agent who rents out the house is very responsive.. the beds bathrooms kitchen was clean . Now our issue we had 6 children and it was FREEZING the owners had control of the heating the temperature outside was freezing this is an old house so as soon as the heating went off (which it came on at 8.45 in the evening for and hour and not on a morning for waking up . The first night the heating was great the night after it came on as I was going to bed there were 4 adults and 6 children and a dog with hats scarfs and 3 pairs of socks on ! This was not comfortable at all or acceptable… I emailed them and the last evening the heating was turned on but then again in the morning and freezing .. so would have been brilliant if we could have comfortably control the heat in the house so for this reason this is why I cannot give a brilliant review because for most of the stay we were miserable and cold after a long day out all we wanted to be was cosy

Check in was simple. House is a lovely big space with good intentions. Disappointed with the cleanliness. Also checked regarding PlayStation the day before to be told it was available. We therefore didn’t bring our sons so was disappointed to say the least. The TV in the living room kept cutting out so we had to bring one down from upstairs. The heating would only work when requiring hot water so the kids were freezing the night. We did reach out to as normally don’t like to cause a fuss. Responses were very slow - I.e 2.45am through the night which isn’t really helpful when you’ve spent Saturday night with TV issues. The responses overall appeared to offer help but in reality, the issues had been left too long and it was a typical generic response. Overall this house has lovely potential, it just needs some care and value with a more responsive host and accurate description. If we’d had known, would’ve happily found somewhere else to guarantee the cleanliness and reliability.

Absolutely lovely house! Very spacious and perfect for the 9 of us who stayed. Quite dusty still in lots of places. Just didn’t look like it had been cleaned properly. There also wasn’t the PlayStation that was advertised so I had two disappointed 14 year olds! Other than that, we had a great stay! Perfect location and walking distance to local shop, Peasholm Park and North Bay

Lovely house,good location,good for a family stay Positive: Location was good, easy walk to the beach.Also walking distance to town centre good. Rooms were bright and clean. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fairly well equipped. Plenty of room for a family. Negative: The clothes hanging in a couple of the rooms were too high to reach comfortably, same for cords on blinds in lounge, just too high up. There were no spare blankets in case it was cold. The frying pans and oven trays need renewing to non stick . Also it needs an indoor clothes rack and brush and dustpan. Front garden etc needs tidying, first impressions count. It would have been nice to be informed that the fridge freezer wasn't working. We didn't find the fill in ones until next day. Although there was an information booklet, it did not say bin collection day, and there seemed only to be one green bin. The fact there was no parking was a big downside for us, no free parking tickets available, however there is a park on your drive space just down the road, which you can book.

Positive: Bathrooms excellent.Location superb for a family. Negative: Need to replace faulty equipment quicker or leave a note explaining the problem... kitchen fridge freezer and lounge television.They had been substituted bit with inferior models.

Overall value for money and we would use this company again if there is a house in the location we c Positive: Location a bit run down but a mix of properties from guest houses b&b holiday lets HMO’s. Convenient for beach and parks. South beach area walkable distance. Only used a car for food shopping on arrival Lots of places to eat out and enjoy a drink. Clean in general bedding and towels provided and very clean. Great family house with playroom and tv in there. Negative: House would benefit from a deep clean. Light fittings quite dusty along with skirting boards. A couple of beds need better mattresses. Bedrooms would benefit better if there was a mirror. Not easy to dry your hair with no mirror.

Host & Stay, Townhouse, Scarborough Positive: Scarborough was lovely, the location of the Townhouse was just right. But no parking at the location. Negative: We were a group of 4 adults and 2 small children. On arrival the fridge did not work, the company knew about it before we arrived but did not tell us. We were forced to buy a fridge to keep our food in. The house was tidy on arrival, but there were areas of fluff and dust under the tables and other places , there is a light in the under stairs cupboard showing bare wires. There was brick dust on the skirting board in one of the bathrooms. The house is designed for 10 people , there is enough cutlery for 6. The pots in the kitchen are old and rusty. These and other complaints were put to the company, we were given lip service about how much they care and that a manager would contact us to help. A week later and several phone calls later I am still waiting!! The shower rooms have shower pipes that are leaking, the tiles haven't been cleaned properly in a long time, the shower mat is that old it is falling apart. The mattress in our room was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The outdoor furniture was old and broken with cushions missing. I hope any people going to this property after us read this review and ask questions of the company.Would I go back, no ! Would I recommend this company, NO they are happy to take your money , offer all sorts of promises but fail on all counts.

The Townhouse is a large family home on the North side of Scarborough. It is adequately equipped for a large number of guests with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and cloakroom and plenty of seating. There is plenty of storage in all the bedrooms. Sky TV plus WiFi is provided and there are TVs in the bedrooms. Apart from a highchair there is no nursery equipment such as a stair gate or cot. There is not much outside space, a small bare decking area with limited seating. The house is situated within walking distance of the town centre, Peasholm Park and North Bay. There is disc zone parking outside which is limited to 2/3 hours during the day so if multiple families stay as was our case all cars have to be moved to pay and display. Other properties we've stayed at in Scarborough have provided parking permits which is helpful. We enjoyed our stay. The house was nice and clean and we had excellent response from Host&Stay throughout.

Would have been the perfect place for a family holiday if it was cleaner - there was a lot of pet hair, which we hoovered up when we arrived We contacted the host who was responsive and offered to meet with us We still had a great holiday

Could be a lovely house if cleaning was brought upto standard Positive: Very spacious house Nice play room for kids Warm house Nice hot showers Parking permits Negative: Cleaning let the property down - alot of dust around - in places drinks been spilt hit walls and not been wiped up- we didn't go to cook but would not have used the cooker needs a good clean - highchair was disgusting not been cleaned for awhile- alot of dog hair on carpets our 9 month old crawler was covered just from being on living room floor - nothing get cleaned behind or under as things under sofa and socks under bed. Would be exceptional property if cleaning was upto standards unfortunately for us cleaning let it down.

Easy check in. The area is quite run down but the location is great. Very near the park, North Bay, an excellent bakery, fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs. Easy walk over to South Bay. The kitchen, bathrooms, bedding and towels were all spotlessly clean. There was a bit of an odd smell in the kitchen on arrival. The living room was a bit dusty. There was pet hair on the sofa and we found a few things under the sofas! However, we all had a lovely time and would recommend to others. Really spacious- all bedrooms a good size, kids room, dining room and downstairs loo were all appreciated. There wasn’t a PS4 provided as stated but there are TVs in every room which is a plus!

This property is in a great location, walking distance to north beach, the town centre and the water park. The house was big with decent sized bedrooms , modern bathrooms and a good sized kitchen. The Property could do with a good paint throughout as the walls are well worn / marked/ looks run down. We were very disappointed by the lack of attention to detail in the cleanliness of the property. My daughter found some soiled knickers in a bathroom cupboard, I stood on a big piece of broken glass and a screw. Under the sofa had not been checked or cleaned as there were items such as a dummy, ball and dirt. Upstairs was clean. The location was good but the street appeared to be quite run down. It could be a great property with tlc.

The house is large with plenty of room for a large family group like ours. It was quite central and easy to reach the beach, restaurants etc. The biggest problem was the cleanliness. It needs a really good deep clean. I think Host & Stay should monitor their properties better so they can check on standards. If cleanliness could be guaranteed I would certainly book again.

The only problem was that the living room had no curtains, and everyone looked in as the went past . It also made the room feel cold . There were inappropriate images on the chalkboard,and we had children in our party .

This is a great house in a really useful location- roughly 15 minutes walk to the south beach and about 7 minutes walk to the quieter north beach. There’s a wonderful park very close to the house which has pedalos, a band, miniature train and loads of other things to do. With three young boys, the location was perfect for us. The house is clean, comfortable and has a lot of bathrooms which for a big group of people is so useful. We were sent a guide to staying there which was useful and had good communication with them throughout. We really enjoyed the stay.

nice place, would stay again. Positive: Nice size, comfortable, showers were excellent, slept fine (and that's from a very fussy sleeper) Negative: No curtains or blinds in the front room meant people could easily see in during the evening, and the kids toys on site could really do with a refresh.

Family getaway We went on our first family holiday with my husbands parents, his sister and brother in law and nephew and our 2 sons as well as 3 dogs. We were celebrating his parents 80th birthdays. We needed to use the car to and from the property but for normal we could have parked up and accessed everything we needed on foot. We had plenty room in the property and didn’t feel like we were in each others way. Would certainly recommend this property to others. Only downside was the property is in need of some exterior attention ie weeds quite bad out front. Cafe a few doors down was a favourite of us all .

A nice large house which was ideal for our family group. Good location. Kitchen could be slightly better equipped with big pans, lots more mugs and scales / mixer.

We had a great time at the townhouse. It was clean, spacious and it easily fit the 10 of us. It’s in a great location not far from the beach. Bedrooms were a good size and comfortable, also had a good number of bathrooms. However we did have a few things that weren’t major issues but made it a bit difficult for us: 1. It’s advertised to have space for 10 people but only provided 9 dinning chairs (there were 2 stools but they were too tall to sit comfortably at the table) 2. The kitchen wasn’t equipped for 10 people, with not enough cutlery, saucepans being too small and a lack of certain basic equipment such as a grater. It could have done with another chopping board but that’s purely a preference of not cutting everything on the same board. Also the one deep baking tray provided didn’t fit in the oven. Also there were no recycling bins / area. 3. There’s only two parking scratch cards which would have been good to know beforehand so we could plan other parking. 4. Bedroom door lock

Great location, good value for money - few improvements with the cleaning and it will be perfect Positive: Great location, kids playroom was fab. Comfy beds & quality bed linen. New bathrooms throughout with shampoos/conditioner Negative: Cleaning was quite up to scratch. Dead flowers on the coffee table when we arrived, lots of dead bugs on the windowsills. Wasn’t any cleaning products to use, no dishcloth and only bin bag for a 4 day stay for 8 of us! Broken tv unit.

A very spacious house that worked well for our family group of 10. An easy short walk down to North Bay or Peasholm Park. The only things missing are some better kitchen items to cater for large groups- very little in terms of large dishes and pans etc. I've never seen so many wine glasses however!

Great location. Positive: The location was very good. The size of the property was great. Negative: On arrival the property smelt of stale cigarette smoke, there were piles of rubbish in the rear yard, only 6 mugs in a property for upto 10 people and the cleaning looked like it had been rushed and not to a very good standard.

A beautiful house with a lovely spacious feel and with the beach just a 5 minute walk away. However, for the money we paid, we were surprised at a few things: ~ radiators on the top floor did not work, making it very cold ~ a broken toilet seat in the en suite and a broken flush in the downstairs toilet (which my husband fixed) ~ a broken plinth on the main coffee table in the lounge ~ no hairdryer even though listed in the amenities ~ no stair gate supplied so hard to follow rule of keeping the dog downstairs ~ no dustpan and brush, can opener, grater or lid on the teapot These are all things that can be easily fixed, so hopefully they will be for the next guests.

Brilliant property. We had a fantastic stay. Inside was beautiful and clean and as a big family with lots of couples and dogs we all had plenty of room. Only concern we had was that there was lots a rubbish bags piled up on the decking of the property. It was incredibly windy one evening during our stay and the rubbish was blowing about! Other than that, fantastic stay and im sure we will be rebooking.

Ideal for us, but has it's faults. Positive: Great for us (a group of men walking the Cleveland Way). Excellent Brew Pub opposite. Close to other amenities. Negative: Needs some 'loving care'. The for sale sign by the front door tells it all. A boarded up property on the opposite side of the road adds to the run down feeling. Needs a deep clean (eg. grubby carpets and cooker).

We had a lovely stay here. The house is located within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do. It's a well equipped and very comfortable place to stay and quiet at night, which was a blessing as we had young children and babies with us. Dale was quick to respond to any queries. All in all, I recommend it.

Overall we had a great stay and the house was excellent. It was really spacious, plenty of seating in the living room, comfy beds, and lovely big bathrooms with great showers. There were a few things that could have been improved: there were quite a few light bulbs missing (the one in the entrance was missing so when we arrived in the dark, i had to use a torch to find a light switch that connected to working lights), there were big bags of laundry left in the hallway, and the bin area was filled with old rubbish. It was still great value and a great stay though

This house could be amazing as the space worked really well for our 5 adults and 3 young children. The kids loved it. However, there was a damp smell as we came in and lots of condensation and some mould in the kitchen cupboards. So much so we left the cutlery tray out of the drawer and had the windows open to ventilate. The boiler seemed to be on all the time with lots of error messages displayed. The water pressure was very low/ so only one shower could take place if no other taps running. We reported this on the first morning but no action took place. A maintenance man arrived as we were checking out but he was unaware of the above 2 issues. Other minor issues were the carpet stains and the lack of toys without bits missing in the play room. There’s no PS as advertised. The outside space was not very inviting. On the plus side: The beds were very comfortable. The washer worked well. A great house for hide and seek. A great location for North Bay and town and great takeaways.

Very good Positive: We had an amazing stay at this house. Everything exceeded our expectations – the property was spotless, very spacious, and perfect for a group. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the location was ideal for a short getaway. All facilities were in excellent condition, and the house had everything we needed. No instructions were given regarding ‘disc’ parking and no discs were available. I got a parking ticket while I was unloading the car. We were met by three bags of dirty laundry just inside the front door. The whole house was very dusty. There were only 5 cups for 9 of us and only 1 teaspoon. The house was adequate and reflected the advertised details. The local area seems to house a lot of people in HMO type properties and seem to be people with issues. The car parking costs £13.10 per day per vehicle.

We had a great time in your place. It is very spacious for and easily accommodated our group of 10. We loved the accessibility of both town and beach. We could easily walk to all the attractions. We were also very close to the busstop to catch the bus to robin hood bay. We appreciated the parking tickets that were provided. And we were super impressed with the responsiveness of the hosts. The house also has the best fish and chips shop just around the corner. One thing we would have benefited from would be a couple of bigger pots in the kitchen to suit our group size. But we were able to make it work with the ones available. Thank you for providing the perfect base for our stay in Scarborough!!

Positive: Nothing. The whole experience was ruined Negative: We booked for Friday25th July until Tuesday 29th July and left early. Fridge freezer wasn't;t working from day one and hadn't been for the previous two weeks as both ourselves and previous guests had emailed and phoned several times to booking.com and host and stay. The fridge lights come on and fools you into thinking it was working until all your food defrosts and warms up within hours and you have wasted all your money. The bean bags in the play room were flat making them unusable. Toys and games had missing pieces making them unplayable and there were no chalks for the chalk wall. Baking trays were corroded and rusty. Crockery was chipped. There were exposed external wires and lights hanging from the wall. The property was not compliant with basic fire safety regulations. A fire cracker left in a cupboard exploded in my hand when it was moved. The gas safety certificate in the welcome file expired in November 2021 along with expired electrical PAT testing. Insanitary bedroom bin which has not been emptied and was full of hair and used tissues.

Avoid Host&Stay at all costs!!! Positive: The house itself was lovely. Great layout,, and in a cracking location Negative: The property was not properly cleaned, with dog poo on the outside decking, dirty carpets along side the sofa and dirty plasters in the upstairs bedroom. We had to sign a waiver before checking in to say we would pay up to £500 for any breakages in this property. I was therefore very careful to take pictures of everything when we first checked in and flagged issues that we seen on day one. Unfortunately, the stay was completely overshadowed by a major issue with the fridge freezer and a totally inadequate response from the management company, Host & Stay. I booked The Town House in Scarborough through Booking.com, but it’s managed by Host & Stay. Timeline of events: Wednesday 16 July (late evening): We discovered the fridge freezer had stopped working. Frozen food had defrosted and the fridge was no longer cold. Thursday 17 July (morning): I reported the fault first thing via Booking.com, email and direct phone call. I followed up repeatedly during the day. No technician was sent, even though we were asked to keep the keys in the key safe for the technician. Friday 18 July (4.30pm): After more chasing via phone and email, a technician finally arrived. He incorrectly diagnosed the issue as the appliance being in "holiday mode.", even though this wasn't. Host & Stay later admitted the unit was faulty and needed replacing. Saturday and Sunday: No replacement was offered. I was told to use a wine cooler that did not exist, and later just advised to keep using the broken fridge. I asked for a manager to call me back on four separate occasions. Not one call came. Saturday: I was told another engineer had been arranged by the owner. That person never turned up either. Sunday evening: I again asked for a manager to call me on Monday morning before checkout. No call was received. The end result was that ten people had no working fridge or freezer for five days.

Negative: Only having 1 parking permit for a five bedroom house seemed strange but local pay and display was close by and reasonably priced

Great location and clean house. Plenty of space for us all. Host was very helpful and there was lots of communication.

I recently stayed at this Airbnb and overall, it was a decent experience. The place itself was really lovely and had all the amazing amenities we needed. However, it was a bit dirty upon arrival, which was disappointing. Additionally, the owner was slow to respond to our messages, which made communication a bit frustrating.

Good location and amenities. A shame the house wasn't very clean. Positive: Location perfect for access to both bays. Negative: Furniture tired and not very clean. Drawers weren't clean and carpets needed cleaning and Hoovering properly. Window frames and skirting boards dirty in places

Great stay with family.

Great location, North Bay and Peasholm Park very close. Places to eat and North Bay Fisheries just around the corner. Property is ideal for large family groups but would benefit from some updating (windows, front door etc) and kitchen having wider range of pots, pans and utensils.

We had a great time here, perfect for a group of friends.

My family and I (6 adults, 3 children and 3 dogs) stayed at The Townhouse and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. It is in a great location just a short walk to the beach and town. The house was very clean and well equipped and we instantly felt at home. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
