A wonderful little cottage in a spectacular village. Couldn’t have asked for more
What a lovely place and quiet, country location! Perfect for our visit to Port Lympe Safari and Zoo (which we recommend) and visiting the surrounding area. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and we lit the fire as we had a few damp days. We bought more firewood on the road just before Aldington on the left. We really loved the use of the field for our dog and also to be able to let him out in the morning in the secure back area outside the stable door. The kitchen is well equipped and having both a dishwasher and a washing machine was much appreciated when you are away. We thought it a special place. Rachael kindly dropped in some homemade apple juice which we enjoyed! She was easy to contact too. We would love to return.
A lovely warm welcome from Rachael and a gift of tasty apple juice and fresh eggs from her chickens. The use of her field for our dog was great and so helpful for the early morning and evening walks. The cottage was clean and tidy with all the basics supplied. The surroundings were quiet, peaceful and private. Thank you Rachael.
While the stay was fine. I probably wouldn’t stay again. The furniture was dated and terribly stained. Cobwebs absolutely everywhere, the bedding was clean. Terribly hot yet unable to open some windows/doors. Something that can not be helped by the host was the amount of spiders. Large spiders the size of my fist. Not with spindly legs, large and chunky. We (my husband) removed 18 on the first day and a half - that was just the big ones. We let the littles stay. So unfortunately not great if you have a spider phobia and don’t fancy panic attacks every day and night. Host was very responsive yet respectful of our space while we were there and delivered us fresh apple juice and eggs. This is not intended to be a bad review as our stay was fine, i personally would not have booked it if I’d known some of the things beforehand. We have stayed in many other rural homes without quite so many visable spiders. Maybe pop a few bowls of cookers out? Thanks
We had a lovely two night stay in order to attend a wedding in the area. The accommodation was great, just what we needed, and the surrounding area was really beautiful too. The accommodation is tucked away off the main road but the host gave very clear instructions and it was easy to find. Would definitely recommend, thanks!
Our stay in Bonnington was very pleasant. The accommodation suited us very well and was situated in beautiful surroundings. Our host, who lives in the main house next door was very friendly, helpful and keen to make sure we had an enjoyable time. She made local recommendations, brought fresh eggs and apple juice over and ensured that my 4 year old son was well entertained with a box of Lego! The location of the accommodation provided an excellent base for visiting the Hythe Railway and the Port Lympne Safari Park, whilst offering peace and tranquillity when we returned in the evening. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This little rustic tiled latch board wooden ‘cottage’ , found at the end of an unmade road, was a good weekend retreat if needing to escape the hustle and bustle. Rachael was the perfect hostess bringing freshly laid eggs from her chickens and pressed apple juice. Both were very much appreciated. Thank you Rachael.
We had a nice relaxing stay. The cottage was spacious with high spec kitchen and bathroom. It’s more rustic than luxurious. It’s got charm but a bit of TLC would bring up the standard. It’s comfortable and we slept really well. There was an issue with cleaning on arrival but we met the owner who was lovely and apologetic. The homemade apple juice was a lovely touch!
The cabin was very hard to find, poor instructions and slow response to queries. Not even coffee, tea or even long life milk provided so had to drive to a shop to get some. The bedrooms were nice and the bathroom clean but the main living area felt shabby, with ancient curtains and dust and cobwebs. Second car had to park right in front of the French windows, so no view. Small paved courtyard garden with no plants, very basic. No view to the rear either. Dead plants at the front door. Photos showed a large garden but we did not have access to this. Very small shared interior space including kitchen. We asked several times for an 11am checkout and were told no each time. When the host did finally come round, just before 10am, she said we could stay later but we were packed up and ready to go by then. It would have made our stay more relaxing had we known this the day before. She did give us juice as we left. Expected to strip the beds before leaving. Quite disappointed, needs attention.
We were lucky to find this gorgeous cottage, especially so last minute. Then very lucky to have Rachel and her two wonde Positive: We had the most lovely 3 nights within this beautiful hidden cottage. Negative: Nothing we loved every bit
Lovely stay overall and the area was really peaceful, which we really enjoyed. The courtyard was a nice addition, though it felt a little unkempt during our visit with a few bits around, so it wasn’t ideal for our toddler. With a little tidy-up it would be a lovely outdoor space. This was our first time booking through a third party rather than directly with the owner, so it felt a little less personal. Also, the listing mentioned two bathrooms, but it was actually one downstairs bathroom with a bath and a separate shower within the same room, which would be helpful to make clearer in the description. We’d happily stay again.
The most peaceful, stunning location. Access to the field was wonderful, plenty of space for the dog to run and for us all to play ball games. The kids loved it. The fresh eggs from Rachel’s hens were a lovely touch.
