We had a lovely weekend stay at the surf shack Positive: The property was perfect for a couple, it was just enough room for a short staycation . I would just say the stairs in the property up to the bedroom are quite narrow but they are quirky and the upstairs is the full length of the house and is lovely. Negative: Nothing
Great location and beautifully decorated. Spiral staircase slightly awkward for my taller partner.
Saltburn MIni Break Positive: Ideal location, a short walk from the seafront and handy for the shops. We have holidayed in Saltburn before with our dogs, and this little spot was ideal - we did not have to negotiate any stairs with them inside the property. Good heating and well planned compact accommodation. As others have said, this is pedestrian access only down an alley, but the '10 foot' is well kept, there is street lighting and the hosts have kindly provided torches, if required. Try and arrive before dark and you shouldn't have a problem. We were able to street park on Garnet Street, but this was out of the main holiday season. Saltburn is a popular place, so you may have to walk a little further in peak times. The local SPAR shop has a wonderful butchers and cake shop. A lovely card shop down the road - Holly Blue, and a proper guitar / music shop too - amazing! Negative: The property was ideal for our purpose and we would stay again. The spiral staircase was a little awkward to ascend with a suitcase, but no impossible, Just don't bring the kitchen sink! Towels were perfectly adequate, but I do like to snuggle in a thick towel after a shower, so perhaps a little upgrade there? Tea, coffee, sugar, and milk provided for that initial cuppa, but you must bring salt & pepper and cooking oil with you. All good.
Great stay! The only downside is it’s at the back of someone’s home so it’s really dark at night to get back to having to walk down 2 alleys to get there. Plenty of positives however although the loft / bedroom space is small in height (I’m 6ft3 and bumped my head a few times haha it’s very bright and airy and somewhat spacious. Everywhere is totally immaculate cleanliness wise. Decor is very nice also. Downstairs is very compact but somehow it works and feels very homely everything you need is there. Bathroom is spacious and very modern. We are local people and needed somewhere to stay for 3 nights due to home renovation so this place really did pull through for us and gave us a few days to explore saltburn as it’s not somewhere we go so often as the surf shack is very close to local amenities everything is within a 5 minute walk the location couldn’t be better! Great stay overall and would definitely recommend for a single person or couple wanting a compact clean get away!!!
Very convenient, reasonably priced, clean and quiet. Would definitely stay there again. Positive: The location was excellent and the facilities were good. The Velux windows had blinds which were essential to avoid being woken up by the morning sun. The kitchen was reasonably well furnished and tea/coffee were provided. Very comfortable bed and lovely and clean. Negative: 1. The wifi connected but had no internet. We contacted the hosts on Friday who were very helpful and responsive but unfortunately failed to get it working, which meant no mobile access and no TV streaming services during our 3 night stay. 2. We were OK, but I can see that less mobile guests might have trouble with the spiral staircase.
An exceptionally done apartment with everything you need. The location is outstanding just a minutes walk from the cliff front area overlooking the ocean and shops and restaurants all within minutes also. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone.
good value for money. excellent host Positive: fab location close to beach , shops and cafes Negative: the spiral staircase was very difficult to climb- very narrow and hard to get cases upstairs
My stay at the Surf Shack was great! The location was perfect for walking to all of the Saltburn sites. I loved the spacious loft bedroom and the nice kitchen, bathroom and sitting area. I had everything I needed and check in and out was easy. Charlie was a great host and very responsive.
Fab place, comfortable, easy check in, great location. We will be back. Positive: The reviews are right it was all so nice. Very comfortable, clean and location excellent. Bed comfortable and everything else great. Negative: Maybe a few more tea bags and salt and pepper
A great location to use as a base to explore Saltburn, and the surrounding area. Really comfortable space, well set up for a few days stay.
Positive: We had an amazing stay at The Surf Shack. It was easy to find and we had a good parking spot. The accommodation itself was just the right size and was nicely decorated and clean and fresh throughout.. Also, everything was in close proximity, beach, bars, cafes and shops. Would definitely visit again.
Amazing stay, as advertised and perfect communication with the hosts. Would highly recommend.
Lovely place to stay, near to the beach and the town centre. Really clean and you can tell it’s been decorated to a high standard. Comfy bed and good shower - all that you need for a mini break by the sea! Friendly host who was helpful and polite with a slight wifi issue Seaview is great for food, avoid the Thai and CatNab is a good chippy
really great little Hide away in central saltburn a few minutes from the town centre and a few minutes from the beach
