Enjoyable, good access to the local area Positive: Location, well appointed, good layout, dog friendly and comfortable Negative: The bathroom wasn’t properly clean. Spots on the mirror from flossing teeth and the taps were dirty. Also the sink needed wiped over

RobertBooking.comMay 2025

Handy apartment Positive: This was a comfortable apartment that had everything needed. It was a good location for accessing the Northumberland coast. Negative: There was no garden area for our dog.

TracyBooking.comAug 2024

Property was in a good location for touring local area. Positive: Property was nice inside, had everything we needed. Furnishings were clean & comfortable. Negative: No outdoor seating area as advertised, seating area near the cafe next door so it was not attached to the property. no secure area for dog. No parking outside the property. Double bedroom was lacking in storage, no drawer unit & mirror not suitable if you’re not very tall. Blinds let in lots of light early on a morning. Bathrooms looked like they needed a thorough clean, skirting boards/shelves dusty. Worktops had crumbs on when we arrived. Extremely noisy from upstairs, could hear every movement, especially early on a morning. Would’ve liked a welcome pack, bottle of milk etc.

Good value for money Positive: Great location and comfortable cottage. Negative: Would have been good to have some space to sit outside and a nicer view.

GuestAirbnbApr 2024

A lovely cottage which was nicely decorated and modern amenities. A great location, for excellent price, close to the key attractions and beaches. Only downside is that the water pressure isn’t great, so both showers could not be used at the same time or wash up.

disappointed I didnt get to see places I had planed to see. Positive: Loved the accommodation, It was very clean warm and inviting. Quiet in fact it was silent. far away from everything. Negative: Do not Go without a car!!!!!!!! or take lots of money. It was so remote, and we had no car. Arrived just after 5 after a 20min taxi ride from the station that cost £37. There was not even a bottle of water in fridge on arrival. We asked two locals for nearest shop we were told there weren`t any, but there was a garage 20/30 min walk, down the A1 no foot path. One lad took us to the garage to get bare essentials milk, bread and bacon, tea coffee butter pkt sliced ham, quiche bottle of wine. the price £52. YES! not a lot of stuff. following day the coffee shop attached to the property was open so we had coffee and chat. Buses run every 2 hrs. from bottom of street 4 hours on Sundays. We had arranged for a taxi to take us to holly island round trip £80. We were informed that because the only taxi firm there was, was at Berwick a standard £40 + would be the general cost. even for a 5 min trip, Im recovering from injury to knees. So walking distances was an issue. Shops delivered groceries yes.. from Berwick. Same problem with delivery costs. We couldn't find any take aways even though the information book from host said there was restaurants etc.in the area What they forgot to add was they were for drivers. by the way I'm not a skinflint I just don't like to be held to ransom. We did make the best of a bad job. But It would have been better if we had known in advance that the place was sooooooooo remote.( Note to self ask more questions next time) Apart from that the property itself is beautiful, well presented, very clean warm and inviting. Lovely décor and comfortable. I know because we spent a lots of time there. oh and tv was good too.

Spring visit with parents. Positive: Pretty modern but old building, nice beds, furniture, fittings. Really thick walls! Very quiet even though only half mile from A1. Good location to see coastal Northumbria or further afield. Owners didn't see, but did message, so fine. Negative: Water pressure low. No private outdoor space, and parking tight, though another place on other side of building.

Very clean and modern interior. Easy to find and access. Quiet area but close enough to the main roads. Lots to do nearby, we even saw the Northern lights and meteor shower. Lovely place to stay 🌟

Perfect! Positive: It was a fantastic property in a great location and spotless top to bottom

Happy we found this place with great amenities to help us pack lots into our stay Positive: Loved that the property had 2 ensuite bathrooms which would be perfect for a family The kitchen was well stocked for 4 and one doesn’t even have to do dishes all the time. Negative: Just to prove I am for real and not just giving great scores - I would have liked a little more shelf space in the bathrooms

We enjoyed our stay. It’s a lovely place with a great cafe on the end of the building and we did enjoy our stay. The cafe is a great place to meet and walkers on the St Cuthbert’s Way

peterBooking.comSep 2026

a great property and a great location. Positive: everything just a brilliant property couldn't fault it would definitely stay again. beds were clean and comfortable, had to turn the heating down as property is lovely and warm. Negative: only thing we thought could be improved was a mat in the shower as we found it became slippery with the soap, or possibly a grab rail would make you feel more comfortable also a small shelve in the shower to set thing on, but overall a great place to stay.

A great apartment with everything we needed for a two night stay

Ideal for our party of 8 and some nice restaurants close by, especially the Black Bull Inn Positive: Very modern, well equipped and great location Negative: Nothing

RachelBooking.comSep 2026

Enjoyable stay in a fantastic property and location Positive: Fabulous welcoming , comfortable and clean property. The layout worked well for us as two couples especially as both bedrooms had an en-suite bathroom . The location is super for exploring this area, Bamborough , Holy island, St Cuthberts way and trains from Berwick for Edinburgh are good too , and having the Bean Genie cafe and gift shop next door was an added bonus, lovely owners and fabulous coffee! We would definitely return if/ when we come back to this area . Negative: Nothing we didn’t like as such but feel non slip mats would be good for the shower and bath and maybe some drawers in the double bedroom . Also a new (maybe slightly smaller!) non stick frying pan .

AlisonBooking.comAug 2026

Positive: Lovely apartment. Well equipped. Plenty of room. Nice little enclosed garden with benches, which was great for the dog. Convenient for Holy Island.

GuestAirbnbAug 2026

Good quality home, well-kept, clean and tidy.

MaryBooking.comAug 2026

Positive: Carefully thought out apartment, really well maintained, and beautifully clean; a great base for exploring! Many thanks for your prompt communications 🌸🧚🌸

DeborahBooking.comAug 2026

Location superb for exploration by car. Positive: Great location for exploring the local area, especially Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. Very well presented property with quality furnishings and decor. Clean. Comfortable. Well equipped, including dishwasher and detergents. Negative: Parking is unclear, though we managed to park outside the building next to the coffee shop. There is a parking space next to the property but there was another apartment occupant using this parking area. (Really not a negative as it's a quiet village location.) Out of the control of the property but we had a cockerel crowing outside of our bedroom window from around 04:30 each morning. Take some ear plugs! No shower gel/ toiletries, except liquid soap.

MikeBooking.comJul 2026

Positive: Location was perfect Negative: Needs a eorking vork screw and more kitchen ewuipment

BarbaraBooking.comJun 2026

Positive: The place itself was very comfortable. It is a lovely old building the kitchen and bathroom are new and well appointed. There is a good assortment of cutlery and crockery. It's in a lovely village location. It is the little details which stopped it getting a higher score. There is no shower gel in either bathroom. There is no hand wash in the kitchen and no kitchen towel. There are no non slip mats in either bathroom which to my mind are in essential safety feature. The bath in particular was very slippy. I had to put a towel in the bath as a bath mat. It would be a nice touch too if they left a bottle of water in the fridge and a pint of milk. These are the things which make the difference between good and very good or excellent. Negative: The lack of little touches as described above which means they only score an reased 8. No shower gel no hand wash in the kitchen no kitchen towel no non slip bath mats for the bath and shower. A bottle of water and a pint if milk in the fridge would have been a welcome addition. Its the lack of these which lowers the score

LindaBooking.comJun 2026

Ok Positive: It was comfortable though rather dark Negative: I couldn’t reach the window blinds without climbing on the steps, which for an elderly person is not good. The worst thing was dirty unusable frying pans

Sally-annBooking.comJun 2026

What a Find Positive: The position for Holy Island (a 10 min drive straight up the A1) and Berwick-Upon-Tweed for day trips by train to Edinburgh is unbeatable. If you visit Berwick, make sure to take one of the 'clock-display' cards from the very good pile of info on the windowsill. We did not come across them until we had akready visited. Mind you, parking at the older B&M, at the back, long stay car park then walking to the station, is free all day. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. Maybe a shelf in the bathroom would improve it but nit picking, really. We loved it. The café next door is a great resource although we left before 10am when they open, most days. They are closed Tues and Wed but open rest of the week. Negative: I do wish Host and Stay would send entry details earlier. I realise they must worry about fraud but considering they take payment (albeit refundable), immediately you book, only being released codes, address etc 6 hrs before arrival makes for a tense and a tad nerve-wracking journey. It all worked out fine but I would always prefer the entry details before embarking on a holiday.

Lovely flat and great location to explore the East Coast from. Positive: 'The Nook' (Fenwick Village Hall ground floor flat) had everything we needed for our three night stay. The flat was very clean, and well equipped. The instructions for the flat were clear and detailed, and we were provided with an online guidebook on check-in. The location was a great base to explore Lindisfarne and the East Coast attractions. There is the added bonus of a small independent cafe next door, which sells some great coffee, cakes and pastries. No complaints at all regarding the accommodation itself. Negative: There is a neighbouring cockerel, who enjoys letting everyone know it's sunrise, every morning. Great if you're looking for an early start to the day. Maybe not so great if you're looking for a bit of a lie in!

Positive: Lovely comfortable little apartment. Enjoyable stay. Negative: All good.

DavidBooking.comMay 2026

Positive: Property was lovely and very clean. In a nice location. Negative: Cockerel woke us up at 5am each morning. Could do with a toiletries shelf in the shower. No dressing table in either bedroom.

Great stay in an ideal location to visit the beautiful Northumbrian coastline. Positive: Great space and well equipped. Great to have two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed. Negative: The shower was too powerful which meant it overflowed the shower tray within a few minutes of getting in the shower therefore flooding the bathroom floor.. Such a shame as the shower was lovely.

A good choice for Northumberland Positive: Warm and comfortable. Well appointed. All that you need in the kitchen.Beds comfy. Good shower pressure. Excellent hosts. They were very responsive to queries. Excellent location for visiting local attractions eg Bamburgh, Alnwick and Seahouses. National Trust Cragside is only 40 mins away and well worth a visit. I would recommend a visit to the coffee shop next to the flat. Negative: Nothing to dislike.

Would have been fine had i not booked an additional night and got embroiled with "Host & Stay" Positive: There were no issues with the property, nor its owners (whoever they might be). Negative: The Agent for this property - namely "Host & Stay" are a company i will never do business with again and i would urge Booking.com to consider whether they wish to act for this company. After i paid for an initial 3 nights through booking.com, Host & Stay contacted me (through the Booking.com website) to offer an additional night at the end of the 3 night stay. They subsequently took payment twice and i'm still trying to get them to refund the overcharge. Additionally "Host & Stay" also bombarded me with e-mails, firstly welcoming me (again and again); providing information about getting into the property, telling me my responsibilities in relation to maintaining the property, but also offering me a private chef to come in and cook (it was self catering accommodation), offering me membership to a Gin Club, and because they looked on this as two separate bookings all these e-mails were repeated often & came twice. Must have had over 30 e-mails.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful part of Northumberland. Positive: Well appointed with everything you could need for a break away. The rooms were beautifully decorated and lovely and clean. Perfect location in beautiful countryside surroundings.

Cosy comfortable apartment to explore Northumbria Positive: We stayed in the Nook for 3 nights and it served as a great base from which to explore Northumbria. It was cosy and comfortable. You walk in to an open plan kitchen living room. At one end is a bedroom with double bed and ensuite shower. At the other end is a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom (with shower in bath). It was great to have the space and two bathrooms. In the kitchen there pots and pans, and sufficient crockery and cutlery. there was dishwasher and a washing machine provided, plus some pods so you could actually use them! Negative: It was all fine, cosy and comfortable. There were towels provided, plus oven gloves but a tea towel would have been really useful, and some soap/shower gel in the bathrooms. A welcome pack would also have been welcome - but I'm nit picking now!

CarolBooking.comApr 2025

A great location to be based for sightseeing. Positive: We stayed in the downstairs flat. There were lots of thoughtful touches like separate switches for the bathroom fan and the light, electric bathroom mirror, plenty of mugs, comfy sofa. The rooms look as good as they do in the photos with fabulous deep window ledges. Down sides were: the views from the windows of scruffy rural land, the company insisted on an extra payment for insurance (felt like a rip-off) and on arrival it wasn't clear where to put the car. I've attached a photo of info about parking that was in the pack inside the property but that info didn''t seem to be in any of the extensive blurb online. The parking spot is to the left of the defibrillator and to the left of a prominent "don't park on the drive" sign. You need to take your own shampoo. There is a handy little coop supermarket in a nearby village. The friendly cafe in the Village Hall opens at 10, so only works for a late breakfast.

Comfortable stay Positive: Excellent location and facilities. Only small issue garden not connected to property.

Vicky-annBooking.comJan 2025

Home from home, well equipped and comfortable Positive: Lovely location, property was excellent and the wee cafe next door a terrific bonus. Kind of the hosts to leave a welcome pack. Negative: Some unnecessary automated messages from host & stay but property and location great. Not used to having upstairs neighbours so we weren’t expecting that - probably should have read the details better! luckily they weren’t too noisy.

GuestAirbnbOct 2024

Host tried to make me pay a £250 deposit after the booking had been made with Airbnb. Had to get Airbnb customer services in to resolve the issue. Host did not provide check in information until approx 8pm on the night, after one of the party had arrived and had to wait in the car for 2 hours and get airbnb involved. The place was lovely but would not book again simply due to the hosts actions.

GuestAirbnbAug 2024

Had no note of our booking apparently despite us booking through Airbnb around 6 weeks before our stay and us having an Airbnb booking reference. Just told us to call Airbnb. Airbnb were fantastic and helped us find another place to stay. Would look to avoid this host in future.

RobertBooking.comJul 2024

Really nice apartment Positive: Location and apartment facilities. Negative: The noise from the occupants in the apartment above was not great. Don't think it was their fault as they wouldn't know. Not sure the upstairs apartment is suitable for young children. Didn't let it annoy us but being woken in the morning was a pain.

JohnBooking.comJul 2024

A nice cottage stay spoiled by the management company. Negative: The property is managed by Host and Stay. A few days before arrival we were told we had to either take out insurance to cover damages or pay a £250 deposit which would be refunded less a £10 'admin fee'. I raised the matter with Booking.com, who said the £10 fee was not acceptable and should not be charged. The £250 charge had to be paid in advance, because you didn't get the keybox code until you paid. After leaving the property, we got a £240 refund several days later.I raised the matter with Booking.com, who were slow to react, requiring evidence 3 times, and not getting back to me with the 48 hours they promise. This is unusual. Eventually, Boooking.co refunded the £10 to me as they couldn't get a response from HGost and Stay. I think the £10 admin charge is just a lever to get people to take out the £25 insurance. An example of rip off Britain. I have stayed with Booking.lcom many times in many countries, and have never gone through this palaver before. It's just a matter of principle-£10 in a £1000 booking is negligible, but the principle isn't. I woud avoid Host and Stay like the plague.

AstridBooking.comJul 2024

July weekend stay Positive: Very spacious, well laid out, great decor and the perfect location for exploring the north east. Checking in and out very straight forward and lovely coffee shop right next door with the friendliest staff you will ever meet.
