Me and my wife had a lovely stay and the apartment was excellent plus I will be telling my family and friends about the Positive: It was really nice and modern and would definitely stay there again Negative: A small issue when we arrived with the water and heating as the pressure had dropped on the boiler but for me it wasn’t a problem as i new how to solve it

Just got back from a great weekend in Whitby The loft is perfectly situated with everything within walking distance There’s just one thing that let the flat down… it wasn’t clean The cleaner they use must have a phobia of cleaning Shower screen filthy Hairs everywhere, my wife has short blonde hair.. I shave my head so the long black hairs on the sofa, on the tee towel, on the rug, In the bathroom certainly weren’t ours! Tea cups were filthy Stains on rugs and carpets Broken shower screen All little things that turn this from a Perfect stay into a good stay That being said, would we stay again… yes we would Just spend some money and freshen the place up a bit please as the loft itself is a great space On another note, if the cleaner hasn’t taken it we hope the next guests enjoy the bottle of Prosecco we forget to bring away

Amazing view that's close to everything you could want to do in Whitby, including proximity to all transport links. Perfect for the couple looking for a couple nights away. Staff had great response time and were polite!

We loved the veiw from the loft, also you had everything you required for your stay, i am 71 and the walk from the harbour upto the loft including inside the apartment hard work, but i made it 5 times, but would not recommend for infirm pensioner's. The position was perfect and we both loved our stay with the dogs. The rooms were clean but as mentioned on other reviews extra effort could be made to bring it up to an even more amazing standard, as walls and the general finish are now looking a little tired. Despite this we would definitely still stay again so thank you for our stay.

The place on the whole needs a lick of paint and freshening up. The entrance corridor while not part of the apartment was still really dirty and that just sets a bad impression early doors. Dog hair all over the apartment carpet, bed and sofa when we arrived which we complained about and it was then re cleaned properly the next day but still not good enough. Realistically for an Airbnb it should be being regularly cleaned pretty extensively and the shower grout was also not the nicest in places. Also funny smell on arrival which again indicates it’s not been cleaned properly. Just little touches we’ve received at other places also missing which just adds to the experience. In fairness once complained air Bnb were very helpful in resolving the issues but I would suggest updating the listing or freshening it up as it is a slight catfish.

Lovely location & layout but unclean. Positive: Property was beautiful. Great location and lovely set out and decorated. The view was gorgeous Negative: The shower screen was not properly fitted and the water pressure was so hard that you had to keep turning the shower on and off to stop it flooding. You can’t have a shower in the evening as the light turns off when you’re in the shower. You can’t reach the sensor from the shower to turn it back on. The carpets and rug were dirty. I appreciate they accept dogs but that not an excuse for it to be dirty. The walls were marked and the bedding had a stain on it. The windows were dirty so you had to open the window to look out to appreciate the view. The bowls in the cupboard had not been washed properly. Overall disappointed with the cleanliness.

Great stay! Our favourite part was the uninterrupted Abbey view from the lounge window. Consider the three flights of stairs up to the apartment, was fine for us but a bit tricky with a small dog! Place was very clean too but could do with hand soap in kitchen and bathroom, just a tiny thing that would be of benefit. Boiler/hot water was off from when we arrived but this was quickly fixed after a call out the next day. Great location and super quick to walk into central Whitby! Overall would recommend, thank you!

One of many holiday rentals in the town. Very central position, nice view of the Abbey ruins from the living room. The town’s a parking nightmare with a mix of permit-only and expensive pay and display but we managed to get a free space on Church Street on the Abbey side of the river, which meant a short walk over the bridge and up the hill to the apartment. The apartment is up several flights of stairs and so would probably not be ideal for the elderly or infirm but otherwise, the view is well-worth the effort. A very nice micro pub is just a couple of doors down and there are dozens of really good restaurants a few minutes’ walk away. Compared to others we looked at, this one was by far the most reasonably-priced and we were offered extra nights at a discounted rate. The town is bustling but the location of the apartment was very quiet and we were not disturbed.

Host & Stay communicated well, and the venue is good value for what you get. As mentioned in other reviews the loft apartment is a little worn around the edges, but this was manageable and expected. I think we must have stayed after guests with dogs, the rug in the living room, the sofa and the carpet in the bedroom were saturated with black dog hairs. Once I’d given the place a good vacuum we were back on track with a great mini-break to Whitby.

Lovely one night stay in Whitby centre. Great value for money. Positive: Great location, sizeable rooms and facilities for cooking. Negative: Bedroom in particular was very dusty in some areas. The bathroom door kept jamming. Doors could do with oiling!

We had a great stay at The Loft; the property is in a fantastic location, was just as described with very fair pricing. We would come back!

Positive: It had a great view of the Abbey. It is central to Whitby. Negative: No lighting at the key box. I had my partner use his mobile to light the box so I could see the numbers.

Won't return. Positive: Great location. Negative: Apartment dirty, WiFi not working, window in living room hinge still not repaired, chance of window falling out onto pavement below, parking permit not available but has been previously.

Dreadful - smelly dirty place and very very poor support Positive: Good location near the centre of the town Negative: Lots of stairs but it is "The Loft"! Overpowering smell of mould on arrival. Stained carpets and furnishings, Cracked and chipped crockery, unwashed, dirty and food-encrusted pots and pans, non stick pan had image of 2 sausages burned on to it. Full and dirty Vacuum cleaner left in the living room. Plates too big so dishwasher virtually unusable. Freezer compartment completely iced up and unusable - broken shelf on fridge door. Promises to fix took so long we gave up as we were quite busy during our stay. Stubbornly Inflexible on timings despite many appeals - refused to allow 15 minute extension on check-out. Customer support responded to complaints with multiple apologies and promises to look in to problems and to find an "appropriate resolution" without explaining what this meant...! Eventually after 6 weeks of slow, poor responses and many more promises/apologies a partial refund was offered, I would not recommend these people in a million years.

Lovely location let down by poor upkeep. Positive: The views were gorgeous and the location was good. Close to shops and parking. Negative: There were giant stains on the carpets throughout the apartment. (Hallways stairs, bedroom floor, rug in living space) Also stains on the sofa, marks on the walls including the bedroom walls. Carpet on communal stairs was threadbare in places and loose in others. The hallway is quite cramped and there isn't much space between the front door and steps. A bit of a squeeze. Cleanliness didn't reflect price. We had to clean the place a little ourselves (finger marks and cups left with coffee stains) before feeling fully comfortable. The shower didn't drain fast so we had to keep turning it off in between washing ourselves. The black finish on the shower wand was flaking off and there was limescale on the shower heads. The knob to turn the shower on and off was loose. The glass door to the shower is a folding door that doesn't fold and it's a squeeze to get in. The door doesn't shut properly and it's not fully water sealed. The bathroom sink was also chipped. The fridge was missing the door shelf and it was grim inside. There were also holes/cracks on the inside. The communal front door didn't close properly so we had to use some force possibly disturbing neighbours. Told initially that it was dog friendly, however dogs had to stay "downstairs" which the only " downstairs is a hallway. Then told dogs are to be confined to the floor. Making it more dog tolerant than dog friendly. The window overlooking the abbey has been fitted incorrectly, preventing it from tilting vertically. We feared it would fall off when we opened it.

View amazing, location great just not very clean. Positive: The view was amazing of the Abbey and location was good. Negative: The property wasn’t what I would call clean, I was very disappointed especially paying £260 for a two night stay. All the carpets were heavily stained, all cupboard fronts had marks on them I had to hoover the living room after finding toe nail clippings in the living room and the bathroom needed a deep clean. I stay in Whitby 2-3 times a year and travel with my dog and understand that pet friendly accommodation is harder to maintain but I just didn’t feel it was acceptable to leave it in that state.

Positive: Great view and wifi Negative: Cleanliness was very poor. Dirty carpets and the apartment clearly hadn't been clean in a long time. We spent two hours cleaning the apartment when we arrived.

Positive: The apartments was lovely good size the views from the end window was outstanding and the views from the vulaxes windows were also great the location for spot-on walking distance of the town centre and shops and all the bars close to the train station and bus station Negative: The the apartment seemed nice and clean but upon inspection the carpets could do with a clean and the rug in the front room had all stains over it so did the sofa plus the cooker top the shower door didn't Close properly and needs adjusting as it didn't fold in half as it appears too. The end window in the living room can't be opened on a tilt due to the mechanism been broken so it can only be left open wide. Coming back to the apartment after being out we have found the the main door to the building was unlocked. The communal areas Where the stairs are From the main outer door To the flat doors could do with some attention Carpets a bit loose in places and heavily stained in places. Plus the Hoover was left on the stairs For three days Which could have been a trip hazard If you had little ones.

Positive: Location, Negative: The whole apartment needs a really good clean.

Great location, great town, plenty to do but beware the stairs and please check the TV as soon as you arrive lol Positive: Location was good and flat was clean but the stairs were a bit of climb so beware. Negative: We had an issue with the TV which we reported as soon as discovered. No picture, sound only. Having left the key for maintenance to attend and sort it, no one came until our second to last day, by which time it was too late to do anything for us. We don’t watch TV all day and night but waking up, it’s part of a routine and to watch some telly before bed is also. Not everyone parties til the wee small hours. Very disappointed with the service here.

Great value for money and made a really enjoyable stay in Whitby Positive: Great location with all the amenities needed, the apartment was well decorated and looked really smart. Communication was also great from staff and helped us promptly when needed. Would definitely recommend to other to stay here. Negative: Bed wasn’t comfortable and the shower could be better if I was being picky.

Positive: Location good views and central ! Negative: Difficulty making contact re entry/ Key box !, Hot water central heating not working and took over a day of emails prior to getting this working ! Apartment fine just difficult making contact if anything is needed !

Positive: The property was lovely and in a good location. Negative: We were told upon arrival we would receive a parking token however when we arrived we were advised we would not receive this and the message we got prior to arrival was automated - meaning we had to find alternative parking. The bathroom door also gets jammed and does not shut.

Nice location but cleaning and maintenance needed on this property. Positive: Location and view out the living room window was amazing Negative: I’ve stayed here a couple of years ago. It definitely needed some maintenance between my first stay and this last time. The sliding bathroom door was broken, shower leaked down to the front door of the apartment and the entire place was covered in dust and there was no linen provided to dust with so had to go buy some cloths. There was also a wet patch under the window of the landing. It didn’t ruin the stay but it wasn’t as nice as the first time I stayed there

Loved everything apart from the door…just need sorting. Positive: Lovely and clean and modern. Negative: The bathroom door….unfortunately the door was very difficult to open from the inside…we were both locked inside. 🤯

Positive: Great location Negative: We had issues with the heating not working when we arrived, we addressed it ourselves by having a video call with the plumber engineer. However over the weekend the boiler lost pressure twice, we addressed it by following the procedure we had been advised. Our contact was not very apologetic & when we asked to check out late as a goodwill gesture it was refused. We won’t return here again

Fantastic home from home for a few days. The place was wonderful and such a great location. We very much enjoyed our stay, highly recommended to one and all!

Dingy, smelly, good location. Positive: Lovely location, nice design Negative: The property was dirty, it had an awful smell throughout but especially the walkway. Also very creaky and dingy. Also there was definitely a spirit of a young chimney sweep - he was pleasant enough though.

The apartment is very nice and in a great location. Had everything that is needed for a few nights away. However, after using the shower on the first morning the smoke alarm started to go off and couldn't be stop for around 10 mins. The shower has a leak (not the first one investigation) and runs into the smoke alarm. After emailing the Management company and sending pictures it became clear they know and still let us stay. They did not offer any apology for the stress this caused or the panic felt that the apartment was on fire. Or to stand anyone round to look at the problem. As a result of the smoke alarm going off, we do not want to use the shower again. Instead have to utilise the sink to wash, not ideal when spending good money to stay somewhere. An email or phone call before to explain so we had a chance to make other arrangements would have been a great start.

I’ve visited Whitby several times & can confirm that this location is fantastic. Just off flowergate, you’re out the hustle & bustle of Whitby at its busiest but close enough to be right in the thick of it. Plenty nearby and all within walking distance so we were very happy with the location. Unfortunately, upon arriving we found the communal entrance to be very dirty, think student halls, and whilst there was a sign saying they had had a leak and that the area was to be worked on, I still don’t think it needed to be as dirty as it was, dust bunnies included! We arrived at the apartment to no heating and low pressure on the boiler which we managed to fix ourselves and a tripped fuse so no lighting (it was 4pm and getting dark). We rang the host who took 20-25 minutes to answer. We asked separately for the apartment to be cleaned again the following day due to dirty glassware, cutlery, kitchen sides, floor & carpet. Unsure as to whether this was completed. Overall, disappointing.

Great stay at the loft, in the heart of whitby with everything in the doorstep. Host was responsive and helped straight away when the heating didn't come on. Thank you we will definitely be back

We stayed at The Loft for two nights & we had a pretty comfortable stay. The flat had everything we needed & the views were gorgeous! We did experience a leak from the shower (due to a lack of sealant around the shower tray) which meant we were left with water flooding into the hallway & through one of the light fittings - the host was responsive but this didn't seem to be a new issue, it seemed as though previous leaking had simply been painted over. The carpet in the communal stairs was lethal - two steps of carpet had completed come away from the stairs which made walking down the steep stairs to the main door dangerous especially with luggage & there was a 'funny' smell in the communal area, luckily this didn’t seep into the flat itself but not a great first impression. The overall cleanliness of the bathroom & bedroom could have been better - marks all over the bedroom walls and I was suspicious as to if it had been hoovered at all.. Overall it was OK but I wouldn't rush back.

The flat itself was lovely and well positioned. We'd read reviews about the smell in the communal area, so we could live with that. Unfortunately on the first night there, there was a really bad storm which resulted in rainwater coming down the wall of the bedroom and into a light switch, which obviously didn't feel safe. We contacted Host & Stay, who initially said a member of their maintenance team would investigate the following day. We left a key and thought that it would be dealt with. We were later told that they actually passed it on to the owner of the property, who did nothing. For what we were paying, we expected service a lot better than that. All we've been offered since is a token discount for a future booking. Considering this is our second sub-par experience with Host & Stay, we certainly won't be making use of it.

apartment was brilliant, sea and abbey views where amazing, and the space was really comfortable and clean and tidy throughout. location was fantastic, so quiet at night but only a few minutes walk from everything.

Wonderful place to say and an absolutely beautiful view. One thing I would say is initial location brought me a little higher in the street than necessary which wasn’t ideal for how dark it was but the response time was excellent and extremely helpful. Thank you for my stay!

We stayed here a few years ago and it was just how we remember it. Excellent location with restaurants and pubs nearby and a short walk to Whitby old town. The apartment is comfortable and spacious and has a great view of the Abbey.

Positive: The place it's self was great unfortunately the stairs are a killer with cases and costumes for whitby weekend and carpark is luck of the draw but once your up and sorted the place and view is amazing 👏

We enjoyed our stay in The Loft. Very comfortable and clean and great location. Only concern for others would be the entry stairs are many and quite steep. Not a problem for us except when lugging cases and bags as there was loose carpet so hopefully this will be put right. Also I didn’t like the light in the shower room being a movement sensor light as it goes off and leaves you in a dark shower cubicle in the pitch dark! But otherwise was great!

Fantastic little apartment, when the golden hour hits those windows there’s an amazing colour and view of Whitby. They let us check in few hours early which was great for us. Paid parking close by but isn’t expensive for town centre. Stairs to the loft are a bit rough, especially after a big dinner and some beers but the loft was great! Was very comfortable

The property was easy to find and the location was great for exploring Whitby. However, we were very disappointed with our stay overall, due to the property, as it clearly required significant maintenance and was not of the standard we expected. The carpets were all very stained, fridge door drawer was still missing and there was just general scuffs and dust which we didnt expect from the amount we paid for the listing. There were also 2 leaks whilst we were there which left the property smelling quite damp. Host and Stay did always respond to our messages quickly but it wasnt always overly helpful.

Negative: The smell off damp and foist that hit you when you opened the bottom floor door, carpets heavily stained, 44 steep steps before you got in your apartment, foist smell in the apartment.carpets and rug heavily stained with spills and ingrained dirt..shower room patch up with silicone which leaked into the downstairs hallway, shower control faulty, shower floor was all loose due to water ingress, overall all its needs some money spending on it to bring up to a decent standard

Potential to be fab if not filthy. Positive: Great location Views were fantastic Negative: It was filthy! Starting with the strong damp smell on entry downstairs. We couldn’t use the bathroom at all. The sliding bathroom door stuck , making it impossible to open or close properly then it had not been cleaned. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but we paid for a night to be unable to use anything.

Great few days stay in Whitby. Great location, not even 10 minutes walk down to the main area. Lovely little bakery, cafes and bar on the street where the apartment is. Quiet area

Perfect location, really loved the apartment- although the bathroom door didn’t work and we had to leave it half open. This said, we didn’t care and had an amazing time anyway. Perfect. Will be staying again.

Disappointing Positive: The location was good, it was close enough to walk everywhere. Negative: When you entered the property the carpets on the stairs were very dirty, it smelt damp and of cigarettes. The apartment looked well used, the rug was dirty, the sofa was dirty, the shower door was broken, the walls were marked, there was no tea towel to use, the property was advertised with parking (a parking permit), we were also directly told that it came with a permit for the W area but this was not true. We raised arrived and there were no parking permits at the property so called Host & Stay, in “in stay” complaint was raised and we were told someone would call us back regarding this, they never did. We also submitted our own complaint about the car parking situation, to date nobody has ever responded to this.

Great location and views, however the fact that it was in need of a deep clean would mean I would not stay here again. Positive: Great views and location. Tea, coffee, washing up liquid etc was provided. Negative: Unfortunately, I didn’t feel that the property had been taken well care of and was in need of a deep clean. The sofa and rug in the lounge was full of stains, as well as the stair carpet, the laminate flooring in the kitchen was dusty, the bathroom shower was full of grime and limescale and the paint was chipped on skirting boards, bedroom walls and up the staircase. Although the beams in the bedroom were a beautiful feature, they were covered in dust and had tissue stuffed in gaps where there were clearly holes.

Had a lovely weekend in Whitby staying at the Loft. It was a little hard to find but was in a great location with a stunning view of the abbey from the living area. The apartment was lovely and felt clean and smelt nice. Some paint work needed a touch up but didn’t bother us at all and some counters could do with a dust, again, wast much of an issue. The kitchen was stocked with some sachets of milk, tea bags, sugar, some cleaning supplies, lots of appliances, table wear and cutlery The bathroom was nice and clean. The shower was great once you eventually get it to the right temperature. The only issues with the bathroom were that the light was on a sensor so if you’re showering the light switches off which was an issue for evening showers. Also the door was a sliding door which was a little difficult to open when shut fully. Overall we had an amazing stay in Whitby and the loft apartment played a huge part in that, so thank you:)

Nice little place, close to everything you need. Its exactly as described and couldn't really ask for anything more. Stunning little restaurant just 5 mins away also. Obviously parking is a commodity in Whitby but great advice on where we could park. Would highly recommend and will be looking to go back.

Lovely spacious flat and a great location with a spectacular view of the Abbey. It would have been nice to have been provided with ear plugs as the seagulls were very loud overnight! Blinds also didn't block out the sun too well at sunrise.

We had a fantastic weekend in “the loft” It had the most amazing view of the abbey from the window. The place was clean and tidy.

Great view and nice accommodation that was a good base for Whitby. The amenities of the apartment were lovely and spacious. A couple of notes : There are a number of steep stairs to carry your bag inside the building this is just a helpful tip for someone. As it is a loft apartment it’s best to close the windows as the seagulls don’t often sleep at night. Lovely stay

Great location and modern decor. views were 10/10! The apartment is a little worn in places now (paint scuffs, marks on the carpet, some broken shelves in the fridge). A bit disappointing but didn't impact our stay top much as Whitby is such a lovely place to visit.

The Loft is in a brilliantly central location and has a fantastic view of Whitby Abbey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however, the property needs a deep clean and some serious TLC (as the photos no longer reflect the current condition).

Such a beautiful stay, best part was the view the photos don’t do it justice. Place was absolutely spotless

Wonderful location as this was our first visit to Whitby we were well situated. The loft space was great, but felt it needed a good redecorate & dust. We were lacking heat & hot water but after notifying the company the hot water was fixed, but not the heat in the bedroom & bathroom. But would visit again.

A lovely loft apartment with great views. Maintenance issues were a concern (broken toilet seat & water leaking from the bathroom into the hallway) but that didn’t impact on our stay too much.

Positive: Great location and super view. Negative: Had to wash the cutlery, glasses, mugs and pans all had residual marks. The central heating boiler pressure was too low, so had to re pressurise to get it working. The television did not work because the antenna wire was loose, again fixed it myself. The toaster did not work. No handle for the grill pan. All indications are the a lack of checking of the function of the facilities. Only two dishwasher tabs for a four night stay. Nespreso coffee maker but no pods provided. The automatic light in the shower goes off whilst showering.

We really enjoyed our stay at the loft. The location is great and Dale communicated really well; the guestbook sent before arrival was very handy. The place was clean, tidy and with a few small touches (more mugs etc, fix the squeaky bed!) and it would be perfect.

The Loft was a lovely haven amongst a harbour of many holiday lets! The view of the Abbey from the living room was a particular highlight. The apartment was pretty clean with a bit of weather around the edges. It did however give it a lived in feel and we could see why it would be a popular choice to stay at with its simple layout and very nice design touches. Modern with a classic feel everything was stylish. It was lovely and warm on our arrival and with its ease of getting around everywhere within minutes I would recommend to anyone else considering staying.
