Lovely apartment in a fantastic city location Positive: We received updated information throughout from booking until we were ready to leave. The apartment was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. After reading some of the reviews we took toilet roll and cleaning products with us. None of which were needed. We knew there was a lift to the upper floors which we needed. The doors are also wide enough to take a wheelchair if required. Parking opposite I believe is expensive but as blue badge holders it is free with unlimited time. The apartment is so close to York minster and the city centre that we did not need the car. Underfloor heating kept us toasty warm. The bed is very large and comfortable and lots of lamps and plug points are available as are several mirrors. The large shower was powerful and I don't know what heating is used but we never ran out of hot water. All in all a large apartment with everything we needed and I would happily return in the future so a big thank you to our host. Negative: Nothing.

Disappointing and frustrating. Positive: The location of the property is excellent – central, convenient, and ideal for exploring the city. The nearby car park is very useful for Blue Badge holders, but not a viable option for regular visitors due to the extremely limited number of spaces. Negative: Unfortunately, the standard of cleanliness was completely unacceptable. There was hair on the sofa, unhoovered floors – particularly in the bedroom – and glass tables that had not been wiped properly. I also found pubic hair near the toilet, a blocked sink, and bird droppings on the windows. I requested a re-clean, but the response felt like a joke. Most of the original issues were ignored, and the service was just as poor the second time. It was a frustrating experience that showed a clear lack of attention to basic hygiene and customer care.

Perfect location and the lift was excellent for people with mobility issues. Positive: Location was excellent for shops, bars, the Cathedral etc,. that the building had a lift (ideal for people with mobility issues) and comfortable seating and bed. Quiet at night, so good sleep. Once you got the hang of the security and entrance system, it worked well, but communication and information on this needs to be improved. Negative: *Poor, slow communication and lack of full information from host/property owner. *Smaller than expected and had a feeling of being a 'show flat', so I personally felt it lacked a bit of warmth and welcome. *Wrong code sent, so we couldn't access the property immediately - fortunately, residents came out and informed us of the correct code. However, this should not have happened and during our stay, the code didn't always work due to lack of information to a change of the way it worked whilst there. *No control of heating - one morning was quite cold and we could feel it in the flat, but no radiators, so presumed underfloor heating (which worked in the bathroom), but not anywhere else.

Bootham, a great area Positive: The apartment is just like in looks on the booking site. It's in a great location, only 10 mins from York Minster & the railway station . I arrived & left by train. There's a Sainsbury's local minutes away, a nice local bar opposite that. The apartment was clean & had everything I needed for my stay. The other important thing for me as a woman on my own was the security. Entry code to open gates to the apartment block. Entry code to enter the Foyer of the block. Keys left in a lock box. Really enjoyed my stay here. Negative: Actually, there wasn't anything .really. I had a sunny few days there, so the windows showed up a bit dirty, but my apartment was on the second floor. The only other little thing is that the kettle could do with a descale.

The apartment I stayed in York was lovely, in a great location and exactly what I needed. I happily would have given a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the unjustifiable and, in my opinion, un-transparent deposit fees. I saw a mention of a ‘fee’ but expected this to be nominal - I.e. a couple of £ to cover an insurance policy for my time of stay. Oh no, after booking the non-refundable room I was told I either had to pay a £25 (which I never got back) or £250 (which I would get back in up to 4 weeks time minus a ‘£10 admin fee’). This is an absolute joke. The £25 is not a nominal amount for anyone in this tough economic climate so I opted for the latter. Putting me out of pocket for £250 (which was more than I paid for air bnb!!). And I will only get it back in 4 weeks (meaning they’ll keep my money and earn interest on it in their bank account) and then charge me a tenner for the privilege!! It’s an absolute joke.

Beautiful unit Positive: The apartment was lovely. We didn't use the cooking facilities but it was so nice to have a fridge and a washing machine because we had been travelling for weeks. Negative: The on-site parking was more like the council parking lot across the road and it was sooooo expensive. Something like £116 for 6 nights! Also, do not use the booking.com address in google maps, it will send you to the wrong place.

Amazing location. Positive: Location, location, location! Literally couldn’t have been closer to everything. Excellent location Apartment was lovely; 8/10 for cleanliness, kitchen unit doors had greasy fingerprints on the outside of all the doors , so made the kitchen. Feel a little dirty, and hoover g under the sofas would also be good! Also, could have really done with more than one hand towel between the two of us. But apart from those two minor points , it was excellent and I would Stay there again

After a day of exploring the town, it was always pleasant to come back to the apartment and relax. Positive: We loved the spacious and clean apartment. Everything we needed was there.

Heerlijk en rustig en comfortabel Positive: Locatie was fantastisch. Binnen 1 minuut sta je voor de York Minster. Het appartement was groot en zeer rustig. Negative: Nog een berichtje ontvangen hoe de verwarming geregeld kon worden zou ik waarderen. De temperatuur op de slaapkamer was een beetje hoog.

A good stay. Quite automated and smooth process. Nice peaceful place to spend a couple nights.

Amazing apartment walking distance to explore. Positive: We had a lovely mini break at Hide Away in York. The apartment was very central, with pubs, restaurants and York Minster all within easy walking distance. It was clean, comfortable and very well presented, and offered great value for money. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Hide Away to others visiting York.

Unclear instructions of entrance code, you omitted the ‘0’. Having now read previous reviews, you haven’t rectified this problem! Please put it in your message when texting door codes. We were left out in the rain for ages! Dirty cups and saucepans, so didn’t cook. Need draining board & shower shelf, and more basic items like kitchen roll. Dry mud in bed so overall not impressed.

Fantastic flat literally around the corner from the old city gate, and lots then 10 minutes walk from the Minster. Fantastic location. Access was straightforward via the lockbox. The flat is light and spacious, with a pretty well equipped kitchen, large bedroom and very nice bathroom. Also equipped with a washer/drier which was very handy. Overall a great choice, and would use it again as it is so handy to the city.

Positive: Great location, quiet neighbourhood Negative: There was no soap in the bathroom and only 1 teabag in the kitchen

4 nights stay Positive: It is in a strategic place. Negative: It feels dusty and just random furniture being put to fill up the room. Amenities and facilities could have been improved. They show parking available but you need to pay loads of money to put your car outside the property.

The place is very close to York Minster, just around 5 minutes walk, and also near other destinations in the town centre. Even you can walk from/to the train station if you want, just under 20 minutes walk. The apartment is large and clean, and has everything that is needed. It's also very modern. With the usage of the sofa bed, the apartment can easily host 3-4 people. Recommended!

Ruined by being fobbed by Host & Stay resulting in a certain amount of anxiaty during, and after, our stay. Positive: Perfect location Negative: No Live TV in the main room which was reported straight away as it was the World Cup quarter finals. Wasted too far much time following guidance and instructions to fix the problem from Host & Stay (well over twenty messages through the Booking.com app) who ended up stating the issue was due to “atmospheric conditions” - This was obviously not the case as the live TV in the bedroom worked fine!

Really enjoyed this comfortable and well-appointed apartment minutes from York Minster! Positive: The property was great - just as shown on the photos. The bed was very comfy and having the lift was extremely useful for this 2nd floor apartment. The location was super - 6 mins walk to York Minster and 15 mins walk to the train station (and we definitely aren't fast walkers!). Loads of places to eat/drink (breakfast, lunch, dinner etc) within 5 mins walk, as well as a Sainsbury's local at the end of the road (1 mins walk). We only stayed a couple of nights, but it would also be an excellent base for longer stays as well. We would definitely be happy to stay at this apartment again when we visit York in the future. Negative: There was nothing to dislike with this property. However, in our opinion, (and this is being very picky!) there were a few small things that could be added to make it truly exceptional: - Firstly, there are plenty of mirrors in the apartment, but none of them have a light near enough to them for doing things like make-up, and none of them are truly full length mirrors. - In the bathroom, it would be useful to have a toilet roll holder, rather than the roll being on the shelf behind the toilet. - Also, a shelf or some form of storage in the shower cubicle itself for shampoo, shower gel etc, would make showering much easier. - In terms of bins, adding a small bin in the bedroom would be useful, and having a separate bin in the kitchen area for recycling would be fab. None of these stop the apartment from being superb, just a few simple little things that would make it even better.

Had a great stay for a couple of days whilst away with work. Right on the doorstep of the city centre but private enough to have a peaceful evening, will be staying again

Great location, but the kitchen equipment needs replacing. Positive: It was nicely decorated and comfortable. Negative: The kitchen was a real problem. Saucepans and kettle were not clean. Very disappointed that we couldn’t use them. Also, there was dust in various spots, like the cleaning had not taken place.

A fabulous property. Positive: A spacious & modern apartment with a definite 'Wow' factor. Positioned just off the main street, there was no traffic noise, we also found that even though there are several apartments we heard no noise from other guests. It was very clean & well equipped. Within walking distance of the Minster & City Centre. Negative: The down side is, that in writing such a good review, the apartment may not be available next time we want to book.

Had a bit of trouble getting into the property with the code given but was resolved straight away. The property was very clean and comfortable and in a great location. Would definitely recommend

Lovely apartment so close to all pubs and restaurants within the city walls. very quiet area at night. Everything we needed was supplied and it was warm and comfortable. Would recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of everything. Hosts were excellent and provided plenty of information.

Comfortable and easy reach to various places. It would be to have a toilet roll holder in the toilet as well as a shelve in the shower. A sharp cooking knife would also be beneficial.

It is not intuitive so impossible to use. 2. Lights above the bench very difficult to work out. Switch might be faulty. 3. No bread knife. 4. Two utility knives were blunt with no way to sharpen them. 5. Could do with a toilet roll holder. 6. A shelf in the shower for toiletries would be very useful.

It was lovely and enabled us to do everything we wanted to do in york. Positive: The location was very good. It was clean. Negative: The website said parking was available however after booking it informed me the parking was a very expensive car park nearby.

The location of the apartment was so close to the centre with everything at our doorstop in terms of the centre, supermarket, parking etc. interior of the place was beautiful and well set and very spacious. The only downside of the place was there was no AC/fan when we travelled on the hottest day and unfortunately nothing was to be done but to be patient by airing out the heat.

Great accompodation and great location for central York. Negative: The code given to us was incomplete. Another resident helped us. So please review the instructions because it failed to tell 'start with pressing 0, then the code, then the return.

Stayed here for the weekend and had a lovely time. The flat was near the city centre but also quiet at the same time. Lovely and spacious and we enjoyed the stay.

Comfortable apartment in good location. Positive: The location was great, just a few minutes walk from the city centre bars and restaurants. The apartment was clean, modern, and very comfortable. It was great to have a lift when taking our luggage into the apartment. Negative: The only things we would like to see improved are the lighting in the hallway. One bulb was quite dim, the other hardly came on, and the light in the utility room didn't come on. The towel rail in the bathroom didn't seem to work, and there is obvious signs of water damage in the bathroom, damage on the wall adjacent to the shower panel, and around the door frame.

Great apartment, perfect location with everything in the city being in walking distance, but the place itself is in a very quiet and peaceful road away from the hustle and bustle. Top floor apartment meant it was nice and quiet and there is also lift access. The place was spotless and very comfortable. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

Dale’s apartment was lovely, everything we needed was in the apartment. It was convenient for everything and just a short walk into the heart of York. Only thing was we were given the wrong code for the gate to get in and were stood in the pouring rain for 20 minutes. No one told us there was a 0 in front of the 4 digit code we were given.

The apartment and location was great. Only slight gripe was that the code we were given was wrong, but I was repeatedly told it was right (which made me feel stupid) - imagine the code we were given was 1234 - but the actual code you needed was 01234 - yes it’s only one digit, but it meant we couldn’t get in unless someone was walking out of the building. I shared multiple emails and was repeatedly told the code I was given was right - no one called me or was prepared to come out. It was absolutely chucking it down too, so it was just really annoying being out for dinner etc not knowing if we would be able to get back through the gate. Thankfully someone else trying to get in was there at the right time and gave us the correct code. Apartment was lovely though and can’t fault it, but I’d try and be more on it with your guests and call them if they are having check in problems.

Perfect place to stay when visiting York mold city. Positive: Location was superb. Just outside the wall, close to cathedral. Best of all, a public parking lot across the street if you are driving.. Expensive but worth it. Mini market just a 2 minute walk. New building so everything new and modern. Lift for those who need it. Negative: Can't think of anything to improve.

Car park ridiculously expensive, around £37 for 24 hours. Unload and take your car round to Marygate car park, a 6 minute walk away, around £24 for 24 hours.

Firstly I would like to say that I contacted Host & Stay prior to this review. The apartment was presented with a lovely minimal aesthetic and the location was central but still in a quiet location. There was a paid parking area immediately at the front of the apartment building and one within a 6min walk away. The downside that we had to our stay was the cleanliness of the apartment- the kitchen you could see grubby greasy finger marks all over the cupboard doors and the fridge and dishwasher smelt awful to the point we had to open all windows as the smell lingered throughout the apartment - it was like they had been cleaned with a damp unclean cloth. But the smell was pungent and overwhelming which made me reach out to host & stay who responded “thanks for letting us know” no solution to fix. Anything we put in the fridge smelt the same so we ended up not using the fridge or dishwasher so not to open it to contain the smell. Also felt the communication was a bit constant email & txt
