Perfect for a family stay. On arrival place was a bit dusty and otherwise clean (Apart from oven which had not been cleaned in months). Accomodation was well laid out and as shown on photos. Very seep stairs would not suit elderly or disabled. FABULOUS VIEWS OF THE HARBOUR but a steep walk uphill back to house (but that is true for much of Scarborough). Dissapointed by lack of parking as initial photos showed parking right outside the property. It was not until after booking that further info revealed that visitor parking was only available at pay and display car parks that werte very busy. Would stay here again.

Family catch up in Scarborough Positive: Good sized house, rooms a great size, except lounge but rarely in there. Decor was really cute and fitting for the location and history of the street, nice furniture in bedrooms. Location to everything was good but hilly, so not suitable for some of our party, so you'd need to bear that in mind for anyone with mobility issues. Plenty of cooking equipment for self-catering, although no freezer. The balconies were a lovely feature but unfortunately the weather didn't accommodate for their use. Check out the door in the single bedroom- it's probably for a fire escape but a good surprise. Beds comfy enough, just some lights not working in one bedroom. Linen looked clean and plenty of pillows/cushions. Negative: The clock in the top floor bedroom! The tick-tock was loud and irritating. No blackout blinds on attic skylight windows and the bed is directly underneath them, I didn't sleep well at all unfortunately. The very late check-in time with an unfair additional fee of an extra £30 if we wanted earlier, why not allow a standard 2/3pm check-in? We had food to keep chilled, so 4pm was a bit mean. There was no flexibility for a later checkout either. The street to unload items - man, that is tight and not a host issue but just be aware of limited space to manoeuvre. The clock needs to go though or be lower so batteries could be removed.

Weekend Stay Positive: The views were amazing, location was perfect and kitchen was really well equipped. A lovely place for a family get together. Very homely with plenty of books if you didn't bring any. Negative: The carpet it is a bit hard for socks so bring slippers.

Beautiful place to stay and family freindly. Positive: I loved the views and how homely the house feels, The fact you have everything and more as you do at home, Radios,books, pots,Pans,tvs etc everything you need is there and the fact it's family freindly is a bonus! My little boy didn't want to leave and asked if we could live here , The walk to scarborough castle was literally 7mins away from the house which is a beautiful view from up there, Amazing experience, my second time here and i Will definitely be back again. We love it. Negative: Issue with parking as there is hardly any spaces outside the house and hard to get a space anywhere else close by.

Fantastic location and great for families! Positive: Spectacular sea views! Loved this accommodation,nestled beneath the castle , set over 3 floors and having 2 balconies, this property exceeded our expectations! Huge space inside and everything we needed plus more. Negative: Having to come home!

Amazing location, close to everything you could need. Very spacious, more than enough space for our young family. A couple of points to look out for, the advert boasts "Free parking at premises", that is not strictly true. There are very limited parking spaces outside for all of the residents. The parking disc is only valid for 2 hours. There is a long stay carpark, not too far away. It was tricky coming back and to with prams, shopping, luggage...etc. The advert gave a false impression car parking is at the premises. The house was clean, a few scratches, marks and scuffs here and there. We didn't want to pay the £250 deposit, required before arrival. We were unsure if we would have to provide evidence, if any of the damages were done by us on our stay. We know of people taking photos of each mark but we didn't want to have to spend the time doing this. We opted to pay (waste) £25, which we've never had to do before. Overall we did enjoy our stay and the location.

We arrived at the hideaway and was due to stay for 3 nights. Upon arrival it was clear that the place wasn't clean, there was dirt all over the entrance mat and food all over the floor as we walked into the first room which was the kitchen. The kitchen sides were full of food as were the fridge and the cupboards where the plates were. Every room was dirty, sticky floors, bodily hairs throughout the house. The sofa had a noodle still on there and there was a cheerio underneath the living room table. It clearly wasn't upto standard for cleanliness. I don't have enough characters to say everything but basically the response from host and stay wasnt great, and eventually after they had apparently sent another cleaner out (the house was no cleaner) they stopped replying and I haven't heard anything other than automated 'hope you enjoyed your break messages' Also the 3rd bedroom blind doesn't shut properly and is unsafe with the cord to small children - master bedroom missing blinds

Positive: Lovely house, very comfortable and well presented. Negative: My partner loves ice in his drinks and there's no freezer...not a Biggie though 🤷

Ideal romantic place for a couple or several adults. Positive: The views are so beautiful. Television. Two bathrooms. Very nice home. Decoration was topical. Binoculars. Negative: A baby gate would have been useful. the stairs are very steep we had a twenty three month old with us. We had to be vigilant. Very steep road from the beach which I at 66 found challenging.ideal for fit adults.

The apartment was lovely with great views but the hilly access and steep stairs not described and one of our party struggled with the steepness. We were aware Scarborough is hilly but not the exact location of the apartment.

Positive: The view. Negative: On booking. Com when booking the property, one of the box's I ticked free parking, and looked on street view because being disabled I need to be close to the property. But on arrival soon found out it wasn't free parking, and even if it was, there was no permit left as it stated. (Even with a permit you have only 2 hours which wasn't stated when booking) So on the second night not wanting a parking ticket had to pay over £10 for the pleasure. Being disabled and from the car park back to the property was a very steep incline with numerous steps and it knocked me up for the rest of the day. I got in touch with Scarborough Council and they said it was ok to park in zoned areas without yellow lines( which it was)with my blue badge.The property looked fantastic on the photos , and after only reading a cupple of reviews. Good ones. ( my mistake for not looking at more) I excitedly booked which took me to another booking agent called Host and Stay. Our hearts sank when we entered the property on arrival. In its day it was probably fantastic, but there's been no upkeep for donkeys years. I'm a retired painter and decorator and I can tell you this place is in desperate need of a coat of paint and a deep clean. It isn't what it says on the tin and feel that i was sold on false pretences and all the emails, phone calls and no one getting back to me for hours or next day didn't help. When ringing owners with emergency, the wife of the owner said the agents deal with all that. There is no proper communications with all of you.There is some very nice automated emails saying. Thanks for reaching out to us. We will get back to you as soon as possible , and. Sorry we are really busy at the moment ect , ect, blah, blah, blah.The only thing that was very smooth, very quick, and painless was the payment. At 64 I'm still learning something new every day and I'll be spending my hard earned money elsewhere.

Spacious with beautiful views Positive: Beautiful views, very spacious, lovely top floor bedroom/living room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. Earlier reviews mention there’s no freezer so just to add that there’s now a table top freezer in the property which we used - it’s not huge but can fit quite a few things in at a time. Negative: Really liked the property but just to mention that the stairs are very steep so might be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Also, the house is up on a hill so again probably not suitable for anyone not great on their feet unless you’re planning to take taxis - but not a problem otherwise, it’s the reason the views are so lovely!

Need to find new cleaners! Positive: The View was amazing. Comfy sofa. Clean sheets and towels. Negative: The toilet could have been cleaned it was disgusting! Shower head needed cleaning as did the trap.Our first outing was to buy bleach. The double bed on the first floor was so uncomfortable we had to change rooms (It needs a new mattress). The table and a chair on the balcony were both broken. Mugs and plates had to be washed prior to use, (the host does not provide washing up liquid). The light in the kitchen flashed constantly. The oven had not been cleaned. The top floor carpet had several stains. Lots of dust, finger marks and scuffs. We thought this accommodation would be immaculate as a big chunk of what we paid was to cover cleaning costs.

Would happily stay again. Positive: Location is perfect, staff are responsive and friendly. Facilities are great, and having two bathrooms is amazing when you're coming back from the beach or the swimming pool with a whole family who need showers. Check in was very easy, and there are nearby car parks for when the disc system doesn't give you enough time. Negative: Some minor issues with cleaning - the main carpet is ultra hard wearing (bring socks or slippers if you're normally a barefoot person like me!), and unfortunately that has led to a lot of dust and grit settling in it.

Had a great time in the Hideaway Scarborough. Positive: Lots of space. Great views, fabulous location. Great kitchen. Negative: No where to put clothes on the top floor.

I would love to stay here again I would bring my own pillow as I have a neck issue. Positive: Location was perfect , the property is beautiful the host was contactable and helpful Negative: The single bed seemed to lean slightly, pillows to hard for me

This could be a fantastic 5 star let, if the easily rectified issues were resolved... Positive: The location was great—easy to get around, peaceful (apart from seagulls but they were to be expected), and close to everything we needed. The view was definitely one of the best parts, especially in the mornings and evenings. It was a lovely place to relax. The flat has great potential especially the top floor very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for a longer stay if needed, the host company were quick to reply Negative: Unfortunately, although we read previous reviews about the need for a clean, this had not been taken on board and as such the flat fell short of expectations. It does require a deep clean particularly the carpet, which because of its style holds dust and dirt, the other area that requires immediate action is the balcony which was covered in seagull guano…I expect some given the open location and the proximity of the birds but this has accumulated over time and does not look as if a clean has been attempted. This balcony is a major selling point for the views and it was spoiled by dirt and condition of seats and table. Outside bins were not emptied and required bin bags were not there. The kitchen looks tired and would benefit from some attention, including touch-ups to the décor to make it feel fresher and more presentable (possibly gloss rather than eggshell). My main disappointment was the parking arrangements, we were informed that parking was not available but this was incorrect, there was suitable parking outside the front door with the use of a available with the use of a scratchcard that the host could register for. Every other time we have stayed in Scarborough a scratchcard was provided that allowed long term stay. The alternative that we were signposted to was overnight parking in a carpark, that was relatively close but at the bottom of a steep hill which was extremely inconvenient and costly (£13 per day). Overall, the property has huge potential, but its current condition and lack of parking support let it down, if these issues were resolved then this flat would be an excellent holiday let that we would love to stay again in.

The house was situated in a beautiful location. The views the accessibility on foot was second to none. The bed in the second bedroom was very hard and every spring could be felt. due to this the sleep wasn’t great, and we ached a lot in the morning, maybe a new mattress or topper would be a suggestion. The house was very unclean, bodily hairs in the bathroom, pink scum/mould in the shower, everywhere (tiles, shower tray & screen). The floors were sticky and full of dust and cobwebs and The carpets were very frayed in the doorways and due to the jute material, there was thick dust in the pattern. The dust and dirt was thick on the skirting boards where you need to plug chargers etc in. Lots of drinks had been spilt up the walls. The house needs some TLC. Also no outdoor bins so we could not dispose of our rubbish and had to leave it in the kitchen bin. However, the location was suburb, the views and balconies were lovely & watching the storms out at sea was a highlight.

Nie wieder. Positive: Der Blick auf den Hafen ist wirklich schön. Auch der erste Eindruck war sehr positiv. Negative: Das Bett im Elternschlafzimmer im 1.OG waren grässlich. Auf 1,40 Meter war jede Springfeder zu spüren und wenn sich einer im Bett gedreht hat, wippte der andere mit, wie bei einer Schaukel. So schlecht habe ich selten geschlafen. Die anderen Schlafräume hatten keine Verdunklungsmöglichkeit. Da im Juni bereits um 4:30 Uhr die Sonne aufgeht waren die Kinder sehr, sehr früh wach und konnten nicht mehr schlafen. Wir hatten zwei Nächte in dem Haus und waren alle fünf von miesen Nächten übermüdet. In den Küchenschränken muss dringend geputzt werden. Unter anderem lagen zwei tote Insekten darin. Ferner muss man bei der Lage bedenken, dass man von Hafen viel Lärm der Rummelfahrgeschäfte über den Tag hört.

Positive: The house was lovely and clean the check in time is 4pm cost me £47 to check in at 1 pm I think it's a bit of a rip-off I couldn't finish the check in form as it wouldn't let me cancel the insurance tried a number of times after a number of emails and two phonecalls it was sorted took all day to sort it out

House was lovely just needed a bit of extra tlc as found hairs in bathrooms and lots of cobwebs about. Host said they would clean it but I did it myself as no one would use bathrooms. No freezer either what was a disappointment. The views were so nice from the balconies. Not Good for people with mobility issues. And u cant park outside property I had to park by the cliffs near the fair as its free in winter. Rooms very cosy just couldn't get heating on in single bed room. Overall good stay but would have been much better if the cleaning had been more through and a freezer. But love scarborough so will defo be visiting again

8 Castle Terrace is a perfect old town Scarborough address - the view is breathtaking and everything is a short walk away. Be warned Scarborough is a hilly town so there are lots of steps and stairs. The house was cosy and warm and surprisingly spacious. Will definitely be back!

Positive: The location was fantastic. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the property was airy and modernised. Negative: Having to pay for parking. I stay in Scarborough multiple times a year, and this is the first time I've not been given guest parking permits. Considering they cost less than £2 each from the council makes it ridiculous that we had to pay nearly £40 for three days parking. There were also leftover and half-used shower gel sachets in the first floor shower.

Great place near to the Harbour. Stairs are steep to the top bedroom, but as it overlooks the harbour it was a room with a view. Bedrooms were comfortable and we had two bathrooms. One slight niggle, a bulb blew and it tripped the circuit breaker. An engineer called but he could not find the consumer unit. We managed with the wall lights and standard lamps as we were only there for the weekend. It was a great stay and I would recommend it

A beautiful, perfect location with all that you need just down some steps. Great walks, bars and restaurants really close by. Ideal location with Scarborough Castle just 5 mins from the back door.

Just got back from a fabulous 3 night stay, the apartment was very clean upon arrival. The beds were very comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with equipment. The little added extras of tea and coffee and shower gels /shampoo was nice. The information pack was very informative and The view is absolutely amazing and I will definitely be booking again!

Wunderbare Aussicht aufs Meer - aber wichtige Hinweise Positive: Wunderbare Aussicht direkt aufs Meer aus der obersten Etage. Lage direkt unter Scarborough Castle. Insgesamt schöne Einrichtung. Negative: Sollte mal gründlich gereinigt werden. Intensiv staubsaugen. Parken vor dem Haus ist nur kurzzeitig möglich (wenig Platz, keine Berechtigung vom Vermieter bereitgestellt für 24/7), ein Car Park muss genutzt werden, teuer. Möwen wohnen auf dem Dach bzw sind jede Nacht lautstark vor Ort, irgendwie schön, aber wer oben schläft, wird dadurch gestört.

Nice location, shame about the cleanliness. Positive: Lovely view from the balcony. Negative: No parking. The property was dirty and needed some deep cleaning and a lot of TLC.

Loved our stay here! Great location with lots to do. Very surprised with all the little things that made you feel at home down to board games, speakers, books ect. We will definitely be booking here again in the future.

Positive: Perfect location. Lots of room. Good self catering facilities. Negative: Several missing or broken light bulbs. Lack of black out window coverings. Dead plants and outside spaces needed cleaning up.

The photographs were deceptive and not accurate. A different product it could be said/ trade description not right Positive: The pictures on the venue look great but the property is tired and in need of decoration etc. flaking paint. Dirty windows and balcony at top of house was so awful we did not want to sit outside and use it. Very disappointing. Paying something that standards should have been much higher.

We absolutely loved our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The location was great, the rooms were very comfortable and all in all we had a very enjoyable stay. The views are just incredible and watching the sunrise from the top balcony is a must! We will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful stay, breathtaking view. The place was very clean, more rooms then we thought haha. The location is so peaceful and just perfect. The only thing I'd add ,that was missing was more cloths in the kitchen, including maybe a dish sponge, and some more sugar and salt, they were running very low when we got there. Other then that we are very happy and satisfied with our stay. Very friendly host as well. Thank u so much for the lovely stay. We would definitely come back xx

Great accommodation with fantastic views! Positive: The accommodation was lovely, everything we needed was there and very clean. The views were stunning. Negative: The only negative was the light coming in the dormer windows in 2 of the bedrooms! Very difficult to sleep when the daylight is streaming in at 4 or 5am!

Great location, lovely property. On street limited parking was awkward. Be prepared to reverse. We have small car so were ok but would be difficult for larger car. We used Quay Street car par which was nearby which worked well for us

Amazing views! Positive: The views! Wow, so amazing to sit out and look at the view. On Saturday we had the treat of lots of sail boats in the morning and dolphins in the evening. The binoculars were well used! We were blessed with nice weather so we never used the living room as we were out on the balcony. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Correspondence with Charlie at Host and Stay was also very good. Negative: The house is in need of a deep clean and a freshen up really, not the worst we've stayed in, but definitely not the best either. Areas are looking a bit tired. Nothing to complain about, but just feedback. The blinds on the velux windows did nothing to block out the light, so was hard to sleep in the single room and the loft room.

I recently stayed at this Airbnb and overall, it was a nice experience. The location was convenient, and the amenities provided were great. The space itself was comfortable and had a cozy atmosphere. However, I did notice that the cleanliness could have been improved. There were a few areas that seemed to have been overlooked during cleaning. With a bit more attention to detail in terms of cleanliness, this place would be perfect. Despite that, I still had a pleasant stay and appreciated the host's hospitality. Parking disc is available inside and useful to park the car in front of the flat the whole additional insurance thing is a bit annoying

Positive: Near perfect. Location, layout and cleanliness all great. Probably can't get a better view Negative: Top bedrooms bed was a bit too soft for us, and the blinds let in a bit of light in the morning but nothing too serious.

Fantastic property, fabulous views, great location with an added bonus of sunshine too. We’ve had a real enjoyable 3 night stay & would highly recommend. The property is situated in the South Bay just below the castle. Lovely walk to the north bay either via the castle or along the coastline. You are unable to leave your car parked outside the property for more than 2 hours, however there is plenty of other car parking close by (down on the bay). Car parking if free after 6pm until 9am so as check in is not until 4pm, you can park outside for two hours then move your car to a car park after 6pm but not pay until 9am the following day. It cost us £9.20 for 24 hours. We did not need to move our car for the whole of our stay. The quickest access to the property from the bay is via some steep steps….it certainly got the heart pumping. Just to add you have to pay upfront an additional £250 refundable deposit for breakages plus £10 admin fee. Your credit card is refunded a week later.

The views from the house are beautiful and the place is very nicely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with plates and mugs, etc. 4 star instead of 5 since a parking disc wasn't left as promised, and it could've been cleaner. It's also a shame there isn't flexibility with the check in / out times.
