The Granary was lovely accommodation for our family of five, staying for three nights over the Summer holidays. We chose it as it is perfectly located, in close proximity, to visit and explore the mid region of Hadrian’s Wall. The surrounding countryside is picturesque and full of life, especially the farm. The cottage itself is very well equipped, warm and cosy.
The apartment is lovely and the setting idyllic. The people at the farm were great, with the daughter even coming to tell us about the Northern lights that were appearing on our second night. There is still (viz earlier reviews) the question of the water not being drinkable, but ample bottled water was provided. It may be worth checking the showers, which sometimes just trickled; the problem seems intermittent and is likely easy to fix. Generally though a lovely stay in a stunning setting.
Positive: Location, size and facilities all great Negative: The fridge made an awful noise...best to check it out. Also a bar to get in and out of the bath would really help as it was quite slippery and I have a bad back so was nervous. There may be many other people who might be in that position
Un coin de paradis champêtre. Positive: L'emplacement est parfait pour quelqu'un qui cherche le calme et la beauté de la nature. L'appartement confortable, parfaitement propre. Il y a des brochures et des cartes pour bien organiser les visites de la région (monuments romains, vieilles églises, sentiers de randonnée). De bons biscuits maisons à l'arrivée. L'eau du robinet n'est pas portable, mais ce n'est pas un problème car il y a de l'eau minérale à disposition en grande quantité et en réserve. Negative: C'est un détail: c'était un peu compliqué de réussir à régler la température de la douche, elle était surtout sur du moyennement chaud.
Super first floor unit with amazing views over the Northumberland countryside, Spacious, quiet, comfortable and very well equipped. We loved our stay and would return if we’re in the area.
Lovely comfortable and spacious cottage in great location. Positive: Location was excellent for all the major sites on Hadrian's wall. The property was much more spacious than expected. The Red Lion pub served excellent food. Negative: Some have complained about the need to use bottled water but this was supplied and we didn't find it an issue

Our favorite Northumberland stay The Granary at Carr Edge was a lovely place; I hope we can visit again. It's in a beautiful spot with gorgeous views on both sides. It looks remote on the map, but access to Hexham, Hadrian's Wall and various forts and museums was easy. It's picturesque, a stone-built farm house and outbuildings, so like my grandparents' that I visited as a child. Everything was perfect down to the signage. There's an interesting historic remnant of a Gin-Gang (look it up!). Our hostess, Sandy, was charming and ready to answer our curious questions. She had thought of everything, including delicious flapjacks for us. There was a water issue, referred to in earlier reviews, but there was plenty of bottled water for us and we found it no inconvenience. This was our favorite stay in Northumberland and I hope we can return.

This ia an amazing location, fabulous views and easy distance of Hadrian's Wall and Roman forts. The accommodation is lovely. Very clean, plenty of room and well maintained. We were very comfortabe there. Loved the tasty home-made lemon drizzle cake!

The place is very well managed, clean and tidy and well equipped. The location is relatively secluded, thus it is surrounded by beautiful scenery with flocks of sheep and cow nearby; it is tranquil for a good retreat from cities. Our host has been very hospitable to provide us with milk and flapjacks and the necessary supply of bottled water for drinking and food preparation. We look forward to staying there again after the water supply issue is fully resolved.

High quality accommodation in a Positive: Very spacious accommodation, large bedrooms and well equipped living room/kitchen. Both bedrooms had large en-suites with full size baths. Location is on a farm which is in a fairly remote location woth stunning views. Wi-Fi worked well. Negative: Perfect for a rural weekend break - nothing to dislike

I really enjoyed this trip. The environment of the house is beautiful and the interior decoration is very comfortable. Positive: It is nice property, it is clean and comfortable farm house, and the facilities are very good. The owner is very nice.
