If you want space, peace, views and modern accommodation within easy reach of amenities this place is perfect. The accommodation is huge, all modern and loads of outdoor space too. It’s perfect for families… bring bikes (lots of straight easy roads) and outdoor toys, there is a huge lawn right in front of the hot tub with a view! Inside the main living space is huge, it has 2 tables - one for eating, one for games and loads of running round space for toddlers etc. Washing machine, tumble dryer in a utility room for coats etc. The adults bedroom upstairs is a real treat, huge bed, armchairs, bath with a view and a balcony. Downstairs bedroom is spacious with an en-suite. Others have mentioned dirty glasses and windows - it wasn’t immaculate and if you’re wanting 5 star sterile environment it might not meet expectations but it’s a self build that has had a lot of energy and care poured into it and was fantastic for our family.

This was a great place to stay in, location was amazing with a great view off of the balcony. Hosts were lovely sending updates before arrival and then checking in on us to make sure everything was okay. Would 100% recommend this to anyone even with family as was games in the place as well.

We had an amazing stay at The Gathering. Property has acres of space, inside and out. Really nicely furnished. A very relaxing stay (for 2 adults and 1 child). I am sure we will be back.

Great family break Positive: Great location, fantastic views and great facilities, especially hot tub and roll top bath

This was a beautifully displayed property as pictured however when arriving inside the place was infested with flies. Crawling over plates and cutlery, beds, walls and floors. Being in the property less than a minutes and they were all over us and we had to leave immediately. The host was aware and unhelpful saying he turned on the fly zapper before we got there but it was clear there was a bigger issue with the amount in the property. We also arrived to find the blinds closed and when opened was clear it was because there was a scaffolding erected along main view windows which is why we chose a property in country for pleasant views. Again not mentioned at any point of booking. We had to then located a property at 5pm in the evening after travelling all day with a 2 year old, 5 year old and elderly mum. We had 3 days worth of food wasted as we had no fridge and had to a cell activities booked as were not in the area staying anymore. Having to cancel our break away.

Positive: Location was perfect. So peaceful in the middle of stunning countryside. My grandson enjoyed playing with Oscar the owners dog. The accommodation was clean and spacious. The fresh eggs were a lovely touch too. There's plenty to do and see locally and further afield. Keilder forest and lake and Seahouses to see the seals are our top trips. If all you want to do is relax and not leave this accommodation I dont think you'd ever get bored of that view from this place. My grandsons wants come back and so do I!!! Negative: Having to leave!!

We had a lovely stay in the gathering. Our first family holiday with our 6 month old and there was lots of space for everything. We would highly recommend staying at the gathering for many reason. The hosts were great, the sheer space in the place is incredible yet it still feels homely. It was nice and quiet. Having a coffee on the balcony felt very peaceful. We loved our stay and we will hopefully be returning in the future.

I really can't recommend The Gathering enough if you're looking at a base for exploring Northumberland. Nestled in a beautifully peaceful setting, and with every provision you could ask for, you won't be disappointed! There's plenty to explore in the surrounding area to keep you occupied during the day, as well as soaking the evening away come rain or shine in the covered hot tub. The hosts are extremely friendly, with a lot of local knowledge and ideas of places to visit. Would highly recommend this destination, and wouldn't think twice about returning for another stay

The Gathering was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We loved hearing the birds and having no disturbances. Don't stay there is you want to be close to amenities as it is a fair step to the nearest shop. That said, we knew this and loved it. We found it a great place to stay and visit lots of places whilst 'up North'! We loved the hot tub and generally the space. We really enjoyed our stay at The Gathering and felt at home. Thank you for making our stay lovely.

Great location for a peaceful weekend away. Great facilities, do not need to leave the place if you bring food as plenty cooking facilities. Would recommend to anyone looking for a couples getaway or any other celebration.

Had the best time here was just the break my partner and I needed just so peaceful and private in its location and surroundings, definitely wish to return in future.

When we arrived in the Sunday the first thing we did was turn on the hot tub but noticed that the water was very murky and had a bit of a sulphur smell coming from the filter, we decided to use it anyway but on the Tuesday we saw the owners and told them that it could do with either cleaning out or some chlorine added as the box supplied in the box was empty. We said that we would be out all day Wednesday so it would be good if it could be ready to use for Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday evening my wife bumped into the owners and they said that they would have to empty the hot tub Friday morning ready for the new customers staying after us and said that 'someone will have to miss out unfortunately' So for the entire time we were there nothing was done with it and was only checked because we told them that it wasn't clean. This put a real damper on the holiday for the rest of the week as we specifically paid over £200 a day.

I chose this to get away from it all and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing views, comfy interior and very peaceful. Would de Positive: Very luxurious, quiet and peaceful. Beautiful decor, comfortable sofa and really comfortable bed. Negative: Nothing, I would happily return

This place was extraordinary, It's exactly what I was looking something private luxury with hot tub, This properly it's perfect for bachelor's or couples.

The property is gorgeous, it has lovely views and is remote and peaceful. Host communicated really well and was always at hand. Would definitely return and next time hire out the extension of the property for a family gathering!!

It’s an amazing lodge and great value for money. Dale the host was so helpful in the lead up, we was left wanting for nothing. Overall we had a fantastic stay, would highly recommend and we’ll definitely be booking again.

What an amazing place to spend a relaxing weekend. We wanted somewhere to switch off and found exactly that. Beautiful house with light coming in through all the huge windows with amazing views. The views from the hot tub were great and it was plenty big for all 4 of us. We will definitely be coming back!

We visited for my parter and best friends 21st birthday and we had a lovely few days away. Easy check in and it was so beautiful and matched the photos. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Didn’t want to leave as it was that amazing ☹️ Positive: It’s the best accommodation we’ve visited and we’ve been to quite a few. Firstly John the host made us feel welcome and assured us of any problems to contact him and then was left to enjoy our stay. The location is so peaceful with breathtaking views and feels so private as you’re not overlooked and is around 40 mins to get to Newcastle. The property is huge and beautifully furnished with everything you need in it and most importantly the bed was so comfortable. Just looking to re-book and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a romantic or peaceful break🙂 Negative: Nothing it was perfect 👌🏻

Had a wonderful stay at The Gathering. The property is absolutely stunning with great country views. It seemed bigger than the photos too. Hot tub was huge and loved it. We forgot to put the cleaning aids in later in our stay but after contacting the host (and John) they were very quick to respond and help us sort it out which was great. John was very friendly. Would happily stay there again.

Property is better than advertised. The 2nd bedroom is on the ground floor so there is bathroom with toilet on the ground floor. Great when you have just got out of the hot tub.Off the main bedroom upstairs is actually a walk in dressing room. In the photos you can see a desk and sofa, that is a separate area from the bedroom separated with a door.It was lovely to be able to sleep and have balcony door open as it was so peaceful with a view to match.Beds were oh so comfy! Too big for me to hide in the car ;-). Edroom even has a little table with kettle and cups if you need tea in bed.The owners live in house next door (not attached, that is the parlour) and welcomed us and we’re available if any issues otherwise they leave you alone which is perfect. The Gathering living area / bedrooms are not overlooked either by owners property so you do have privacy.Finally being a dog lover….. the vocal welcomes from Oscar made me smile

Lovely house, pretty area. Hot tub and some kitchen utensils not the cleanest but nice. The dog Oscar will take anything left out and chew it. There is a sign up about this but it could be more visible. Unfortunately, our last morning somewhat ruined the stay for us. Oscar was barking loudly and continuously outside the living room window at 8am. He was biting and throwing about a live hedgehog, becoming aggressive when approached. The host had seen this as he'd been moving things around right next to the kitchen windows for some time that morning which was also a little strange. The host then disappeared so we phoned him to ask if he could do anything. He was extremely dismissive on the phone, saying it's 'hedgehog season' and he couldn't do anything. We were very disappointed in his rude tone and lack of responsible ownership - he didn't seem to care about his dog mauling wildlife and/or has no control of his dog. His wife eventually came over to take the dog away.

My family and I had a wonderful short break. We felt right at home and everything about the property was warm and welcoming and we were able to immediately relax and enjoy a quick dip in the hot tub with sensational views of the Northumberland countryside. Lovely touch from John to call down after we arrived to welcome us, say hello and check everything was ok. We all enjoyed fabulous scrambled eggs the following morning courtesy of the John and his chickens.... not to mention Oscar the dog - I could happily have stayed at the house all day throwing the ball for him but unfortunately my family wanted to go siteseeing! Overall a wonderful stay in a fabulous home - would highly recommend!!

Truly fabulous spacious property, very well located for Newcastle City, Northumberland Coast, walking routes, etc. Excellently equipped & clean. Beautiful downstairs communal space for relaxing & enjoying the stunning views of rolling countryside from the huge windows & bi-fold doors. Lovely hot tub, also showcasing those amazing views too! Owners were very welcoming & on hand if needed. Tea/coffee/milk & more provided, plus some amazing fresh eggs from their own chickens. We didn't want to leave! Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such an amazing house! We loved our stay!

Beautiful house. Lovely doggy. Only issue was it wasn’t very throughly cleaned. Floors had hair on, cutlery and plates weren’t very clean, oven mits were filthy with old food and a note thanking the owners from the previous guests still on the kitchen side. Overall lovely place/location but needs to be cleaned better between guests.

Gorgeous place with amazing views, looks exactly like photos. Amazing kitchen with every utensil and pan you could need with a spectacular view and great eggs from the host’s hens.

The setting for 'The Gathering' was a beautiful south-facing valley overlooking Northumberland, a truly beautiful spot and very peaceful and quiet. We visited friends in Northumberland and sampled some of the local restaurants in the area. A very convenient place to Newcastle, Hexham and Corbridge, but also very quiet and amazing views. The place was a very large, modern, open plan house with fantastic amenities and furnishings. The kitchen was very well equipped for family meals. We were visited by the friendly black Labrador (Oscar) who was very playful and energetic.

It was a beautiful place to stay , it was so private and peaceful. The place was fresh and we loved the choice of games there. The dog there was beautiful and so friendly (me and my partner loved playing fetch with him). The space was very spacious and not crowded.

We absolutely loved our stay! We spent 2 nights here celebrating our twins’ 5th birthday, and it was the perfect place for our family. The property was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The hot tub was a favorite feature—our boys and my husband loved it! We made wonderful memories and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great place!

Absolutely beautiful place, very peaceful but not much to do other than Hot tub. The property could do with a few more games or entertainment. The location was in a very rural area. We booked Friday to Monday and we was a little disappointed that we was asked to exit the Hot tub on Sunday night around 8pm due to them wanting to empty and clean for next guest. We all then went in for a shower but had no water for showers as the water was being used to refill the Hot tub. Overall the stay was amazing and we would return. Oscar the dog loves to play fetch

This was our 2nd stay at The Gatherings and it was amazing as always. The views are outstanding when you are sat in the hot tub. The space inside and outside is perfect for young children to play. We will be back again next year

We had a fantastic stay at this vacation house with friends. The place was very clean, well-maintained, and finished to a really high standard. The rooms were comfortable, and the whole house had everything we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming, which made the experience even better. A special mention to their dog, Oscar – he was incredibly friendly and fun to be around! He did have a playful habit of “borrowing” anything left on the patio, but it just added to the charm and gave us a few laughs. The surrounding area was also lovely and peaceful. Overall, a great place to stay – we would definitely come back!

We had a wonderful stay at this amazing property. The accommodation was perfect for us; ample open plan space, beautiful outside area including a hot tub and super comfortable beds. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals with ease. We were very relaxed here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

What a beautiful property and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The owners were friendly and easy to talk too when they helped us with the hot tub. Just and Stay were excellent communicators and where quick and easy to reply when needed. We as a family of 4 had a great break and would definitely recommend this property.

Really lovely accommodation. Only thing that could be improved was the cleanliness of the kitchen utensils. We had to wash all the glasses, mugs and plates before use.

An absolutely stunning house. Beautiful furniture, comfortable beds, amazing views, and sublime hot tub. A fantastic little retreat. The place did need a really good clean in places - windows were really in need of attention, some mirrors etc hadn’t seen a duster in a while, and the soap dispensers in the shower need to be replaced. However, didn’t affect our enjoyment of the place. We will definitely be back!

House and scenery were stunning. All the furniture inside was excellent quality and the downstairs was very open and welcoming. All amenities were there that you needed There were some issues which were dealt with separately So peaceful in hot tub listening to the birds It was great to see that the house looked exactly like it did in photographs It was a lovely touch the John came to welcome me and make sure I knew where everything was or how it worked

The place was spacious and stylish and it was located in a peaceful location. The views of the stunning countryside were spectacular and was so nice to wake up to from the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. We had a power cut on day 2 and the WiFi went off. We contacted host and stay and within the hour it was sorted by the owner. The hot tub was so relaxing and made our stay so relaxing. Will definitely be back

Positive: Well appointed, comfy beds, view from the hot tub is amazing. Owner was really nice and friendly and the team had prewarmed the tub for us. Lovely kitchen area and the upstairs room was really something special, with it's own ensuite and claw foot bath, with perfect views over the fields outside. Negative: Only negative I can give is that there was a leak on the large windows near the roof. When the rain started in earnest, we were dealing with a large leak from the window dripping inside. The owner come and checked in to tell us it was going to be fixed and apologised for the inconvenience. Not that it was really much of an inconvenience to us, but I can see damage starting and it would be a shame to see such a beautiful place lessened by this issue. An extra teaspoon or 2 wouldn't go amiss. I would still 100% return, because everything else was amazing.

Lovely accommodation, very spacious and lots of options for seating areas. Main bedroom suite is incredible. Nice to spend evenings in the hot tub with the beautiful views. A few things needing changed (mostly what people had written in previous reviews). I have discussed this with Host & Stay separately and they seemed open to the suggestions so hopefully the issues don't arise for future guests. Overall a very lovely accommodation, just needing a few finishing touches to make the trip 5 stars.

Beautiful location, stunning views - generally ok, but had a few issues - dirty utensils and leak coming through from the ceiling when it rained. Got a partial refund for this issue.

Really beautiful location and perfect for a chilled weekend getaway. The property was beautiful and had everything we needed.

The gathering was so beautiful, cosy and very scenic. clean and tidy and just an amazing place too stay. Will definitely be back. John was so lovely and came over to say hello when we got there which was nice. thank you so much for a lovely relaxing stay :)

The house was very spacious for the four of us. Unfortunately, it wasn't as clean as you would expect. There was mould around the shower edges and tooth paste splatters along the wooden edging in the bathroom. The floor was dirty and there were visible gatherings of dust. The table was laid beautifully but dust was on the plates and glasses. The hot tub wasn't clean enough to use as it had scum round the edges and sand on the seats and at the bottom. The owner did come and change the water when we contacted him, however, the treatment of the hot tub was down to us. This added a lot of stress to our holiday as we couldn't get the test strips to show it was safe to use. The main bed had a dip in which made it uncomfortable to sleep in. There was a leak in the large windows panes when it rained leaving pools of water to mop up. We found this review hard to write as we haven't ever left negative feedback on any of our holidays but for the price we paid, we expected better quality.

Good location, initial thoughts great place BUT - mould in showers, bed linen and covers stained, main bed broken and clear had been for some time. Broken bed held up by a block of wood. Kitchen gadgets poor quality and lack any thought and day to day needs. Very disappointing Due to filthy conditions didn’t use hot tub.

Thank you for a great stay. The home is extremely beautiful, cosy and peaceful. The interior is stunning and the property has all the amenities that you need for a great weekend away.

We loved our stay at The Gathering. Since arriving on day 1, the instructions for the property were straight forward and concise. Once checked in, we were greeted by the owner, John, who was very polite and made us feel at home. Any issue or query he helped us with as well as recommendations of the local area. The property was better than we imagined, with beautiful high ceilings in the lounge and a nice balcony to have a peaceful on. Our stay was for 2 nights and we found that we were able to optimise the property and facilities in this time. With it being so close to Belsay, Matfen and Ponteland, there was plenty to do and explore during the day time. The check out process was easy and instructions were given the night before just to confirm details and answer any queries we did have. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with all the facilities someone would need.

The Gathering was exactly as described, very peaceful surrounding but still close to shops and the city for a nice day out! The interior was gorgeous, looks just like the photos very spacious but still cosy! If you’re going in winter deffo pack some warm clothes and cozy pjs! But had a wonderful stay, would deffo recommend to anyone

Spacious, gorgeous views and great hot tub!

Positive: The house itself is beautiful with stunning views. Good base to get about. Very well equipped. Couldn't get the hot tub up to temperature but messaged the host and he popped round and sorted it no problem. Negative: Some areas were very dusty on arrival and I had to clean work surface area and breakfast table. Lots of cobwebs. Hot tub had some dirt particles in the base. Because of the wooden floors and staircase, it was very noisy and creaky for anyone downstairs. Not enough low level lighting in the main sitting area.

We had the most beautiful weekend. When we arrived the host was making sure everything was ok and even offered us fresh eggs from their own hens on the grounds. The house was beautiful and the views were stunning. We were able to relax in the hot tub in the evenings and it felt very private. We were also able to make all of our meals in the kitchen which had everything we needed. We could relax with a movie in the living room area in the evenings. I would highly recommend staying in this house. The hosts were very friendly but also not intrusive at all but made sure we had everything we needed. They also had plenty of recommendations for things to do in the area which was very helpful. We would definitely return

Ein toller Ausgangspunkt um den Norden Englands kennenzulernen. Positive: Ein tolles, liebevoll eingerichtet Haus. Sehr bequeme Betten und eine tolle Aussicht. Die Besitzer, John und Lin, waren sehr nett und haben uns sogar Eier von ihren eigenen Hühnern geschenkt. Der Hot Tub war vorbereitet und man musste einfach nur noch einsteigen. Hierfür gab es extra Handtücher. Negative: Es fehlte leider eine Kaffemaschine.

We arrived at The Gathering and on first glance the place was stunning and we were very excited. When I went to explore upstairs the large blind across the double doors was down which I thought was strange as the other smaller blind was up. I went to open the blind and the beads to pull it up fell into my hand they were not attached. I reported this immediately to Host and Stay. The owner arrived to look the following morning and said he wouldn’t be able to fix it. This was very disappointing as the blind being down meant we couldn’t enjoy the view from the first floor balcony. The cleanliness of the lodge was exceptionally disappointing, there are stains all over the inside of the windows and evident dirt and dust on the glass light shades above the kitchen island. The hot tub which was the main reason we booked the place did not smell right and when we checked the filter it was all orange and a build up of dirt. This meant after the first day it had a strong smell of sewages
