Positive: Lovely cottage bonus of downstairs toilet/ laundry room and private parking doggie loved wood burner Negative: Nothing
Perfect location, had a good stay due to this and the size of house for 4 adults and 2 dogs however House in need of some extras such as no towel rails for towels, toilet roll holders or shelves in bathrooms . No mirror in on suite for shaving . No hanging space in 2nd bedroom and not enough hangers. No hairdryer available and coffee machine supplied but wrong pods given to make coffee. Cleaning in house was good except for doors not being wiped down. Outside area had dirty seats and table that hadn’t been wiped down and area needed a good sweep. Would probably look at this accommodation again if we came because of location and for a weekend but needs some more personal touches to make it comparable in price .
Lovey comfortable stay in great surroundings and a perfect location just 2 mins from the centre of Whitby Positive: The property is in a fabulous location, we travelled with dogs and it was perfect with a secure courtyard and parking. Lovely comfy beds and plenty of room for all of us. Negative: The WiFi sadly wasn’t working so we were unable to use the smart TV.
A perfect location so close to everything you’ll need for a perfect stay in Whitby. You can close the front gates to keep the dog secure as well which was helpful. We will definitely be back
Positive: Location, parking, facilities Negative: Good do with a baby/dog gate on the stairs
Nice but not great for dog owners Positive: Decent location for town centre. Clean on arrival. Decor plain but fine. Facilities downstairs really good. I had read the feedback for the last year and comments on seating had been listened to as now 2 leather 3 seater settees in place which worked well. Negative: A lot wasn't listened to in previous site feedback given during 2023! Storage upstairs useless! Beds ridiculously hard and pillows so thin and worn. We took our 2 labradors and regretted it. The place is not pet friendly. The local park does not allow dogs, the only place we found close to the cottage was an alleyway leading to a block of flats with a few scraps of grass on the side (and a resident complained because we let them off the lead - but my girl dog won't do anything on the lead!! - I was so stressed). The next piece of scrap land was on the NHS hospital site which isn't appropriate, or the beach 10 mins walk away. Lack of sleep and poor experience with dogs we left a day early. No info pack about facilities inside the cottage, only a couple of sheets on local restaurants. Don't know where bins are..... We had to put bin bag outside covered by a seat to stop seagulls ripping apart - there are many sat on roof tops, loud and noisy from 5am, however, it is a seaside town so to be expected.
Fantastic location, ideal for a short break! Positive: Great communication from the company that run this cottage. Lovely accommodation, in the center of Whitby, with a parking space is unheard of!! Spacious house, has everything you need, comfortable beds, nice kitchen / dining area. Has everything you would need for a short break to Whitby. Easy smooth access to the property on the day, I felt safe here with my twins. Thank you for a lovely stay. Negative: If I had to add anything - perhaps some bins in the bathrooms and a toilet roll holder of some sort might be useful. Other than that, this property was wonderful.
Great weekend away with family at one of the best coastal towns in the country Positive: Great location, very close to the centre of Whitby, nice and spacious and very clean, would recommend a stay here Negative: Difficult to find, no signs and had to ask at Bagdale Hall reception as to the location
This was a perfect place to explore Whitby. Fabulous size as we had two teenagers in tow. Bedrooms spacious , three toilets and the kitchen extremely well equipped! The off street parking was a fabulous bonus and we will definitely be back again. A little tricky to find but it’s behind black gates midway up Spring Hill .
This is the second time that we have stayed at this property. The location is fantastic being within spitting distance of shops, restaurants, pubs and other attractions. The other huge positive about this property is that it has a parking space which is incredibly useful, especially in such a central location. There are 2 bathrooms which is great, especially with two teenage daughters and the property is spacious and has everything that you will need for a stay in Whitby. Communication with the host was quick and effective and in reality, we didn't need to ask for advice as we had stayed here before and hopefully will again. Great property!
A great cottage in an ideal location, but needs a bit of attention to details. Positive: Central location. The log burner made it cosy.the open plan room is nice. Modern furnishings. Negative: The pots are a little old and well worn. The wifi doesn’t work at all. The password doesn’t work. It is impossible to stream films on the tv. There is no clothes storage in the second double bedroom. We stayed the day after Boxing Day and there were no decorations, despite us asking and not getting a response.
Great 2 week stay Positive: Lovely Cottage very clean and cosy and warm and everything we needed, bonus very near to town about 5 minutes and parking an added bonus, looking forward to May for our next stay Negative: Nothing
Fantastic place to stay, quiet area to say how close to town Positive: Great location, good size for 2 couples and parking a bonus Negative: Just lacking loo roll holders and towel rails in the bathroom. Having to pay for accidental damage extra
Very convenient, comfortable, quiet location, thankyou Positive: Loved the location very close to town centre But also up a quiet street best of both worlds Negative: It was a little tricky to find , could do with slightly better directions, ideally a birds eye mark on a satellite map Would be good
Positive: Everything it was a great location and all our needs catered for Negative: Nothing
Lovely stay though, superb location Positive: Location is excellent and real bonus to have a parking space as well. The advert doesn’t say it had a utility with a downstairs toilet which was handy as we were travelling with someone with limited mobility. So please ensure you advertise this Negative: It just needs a few homely touches and cleaning . Lack of mirrors and no where in the 2nd bedroom to put/ hang your clothes . A more deep clean needs to occur for edges of carpets, extractor fans etc. it really would be an excellent rating all around if this was addressed . Also hard to find so ideally add what3words to the arrival pack information you are sent.
The house was lovely. Had everything we needed and close to the town.
Excellent Positive: Beautiful property location was fantastic - had everything we needed and parking too would highly recommend and stay here again
Amazing location Positive: The location is fabulous and good to have parking in Whitby Negative: It needs some love! Someone who cares needs to stay here to realise there is no mirror in the en suite bathroom, that rugs, pictures, cushions would be nice to soften the place. It could be wonderful but it’s lacking in care. The floor and mirrors were really dirty when we arrived sadly.
Disappointing second visit to this property, needs a major clean. Positive: The location and parking are without doubt exceptionally convenient. The property is well stocked with facilities and plenty of space. Negative: The cleanliness. It ranged from the multitude of cobwebs, clear lack of hoovering and dust-laden extractor fan in the bathroom. More worrying were the black rubbish bags stuffed behind an external wall and rubbish spilling out onto the floor, leading to flies within the property.
Positive: Really spacious, excellent for families or a group of friends. Has everything you need for a holiday home. Great location, just out enough to be quiet at night but a few minutes walk from town centre. Negative: Outside area was not cleaned, full ashtray on table. Lots of full black bags shoved up the side of the building that the seagulls kept ripping open and spreading all over the courtyard. No Outside bin to put any rubbish in.
Great location (when we finally found it) Positive: The location is perfect, 3 minutes walk to the town centre Negative: Missing simple comforts like no cushions on the couch and the pillows are well past the best. The postcode given for the location was not helpful for finding the location. I tried to contact customer service but that was no use. My wife asked at a local hotel that turned out to be the owner and was able to give us proper directions. I would definitely recommend sending bookers the what3words location for the entrance to the driveway. It would be far easier to locate.
Fabulous stay, booked again for next year Positive: Location of property is superb, everything you could need, tight parking space on entry to the courtyard but very secure
Perfect really we will definitely return Positive: Perfect location parking a bonus everything you need we were there for our son’s wedding at sneaton castle it was a few minutes drive away Negative: Just need some shower mats I’m disabled and found it a little slippery
Positive: location and cleanliness
Poor. Positive: Location. Negative: Property did not look anything like photos. Very unclean on arrival. Crumbs and dirt all over floor. Hairs on bedding. Very unclean property. Broken blinds. Dirt, dust and cobwebs all over. Dirty windows. Broken blinds. Very poorly equipped. No hairdryer. 1 toilet roll provided for 3 toilets in property. Bathrooms dirty. Not enough towels provided. Kitchen dirty and poorly equipped. Poor selection of glasses. Outside of building dirty. Constant ringing of buzzer from building next door. Ringing buzzer from 8am onwards constantly. Property uncomfortable and dirty shell. Certainly did not reflect photos at time of booking. Certainly did not reflect good reviews at time of booking. Very poor.
was very nice clean place just what we wanted for a couple of days break ideal location Could do with a sign at the side of the black gates with the name and number as a bit awkward to find, parking a bit tight apart from that everything was lovely
Comfortable and convenient location Positive: Location and lay out Negative: No signage to indicate where exactly it was
Positive: Extremely clean and comfortable property. The location was great for getting straight into the heart of Whitby. I have mobility issues and was looking for somewhere that didn't entail walking up and down hills to access the delights of Whitby. Although it wasn't advertised as fully accesible because the bedrooms are on the first floor, it was great for someone who can manage stairs (if not easily) but needs easy access into the property and the surrounding area. It was quiet and private with a handy outdoor seating area. The two bathrooms and downstairs toilet in the utility room were really useful. Would definitely book again at the right price. Managed to park two small cars at a squeeze, which was a godsend for Whitby. Negative: Therecwas a little bit of mystery aboutvthe parking, until we actually arrived and saw it for ourselves. However can understand this as it is available depending on the size of vehicle. Would be better to make this clearer in advance.
A little gem, needing a little polish Positive: We stayed at the cottage as a group of 5, and found it to have plenty of space. Cosy accommodation, that was fully equipped with kitchen wares cutlery, crockery, cups and glasses(washing up liquid, teatowel, and 3 dishwasher tabs), even salt and pepper! The complimentary tea, coffee and sugar was a nice touch. The bedrooms are a good size, and the location of the cottage, in terms of amenities, is fantastic! Literally a stones throw from everything u need. Little suggestions: a mirror in the en suite. (There is a shaving socket) Hook or towel rail/ shelf in en suite, as nowhere to hang. Some kind of clothes storage in the double Negative: *Locating the cottage was difficult, even using the satnav. Ended up asking reception at the hotel nearby, for directions. Apparently a frequent occurance. *Accessing the private parking is quite tight, especially with a larger car. Where the majority of the cottage was clean, there were a few areas that need attention: *the extraction fans in the bathrooms are absolutely caked in dust. So thick, it couldn't be blown off! The same with the radiators. We actually rescued the window keys, from the radiator grill in the en suite, also dusty. Between 3 bedrooms, we found a protein bar wrapper, 2 chocolate balls, several sanitary product wrappers. This was only noticed, as I dropped an earring back, and on trying to locate mine, we found someone else's, in the middle of the carpet, that surely would've being hoovered up?!. *Not long after we had checked in, we were already recieving emails counting down our check out. Reminding about strict check out times. Kinda pee'd on things a little.
Positive: We've stay a few times now and love it....location is the best, parking space is great. We hope to come back. Negative: Leather seats in front room very difficult to get out of.
lovely basic self catering accommodation. handy location and great bonus of parking space. only minor inconvenience was the lack of storage in bedrooms. large wardrobe had 2 hangers and no shelves or drawers and other double room had no storage at all.
Positive: The area Negative: The showers were rubbish
It's a very practical and convenient house, so close to everything! There's complimentary soap and shower gels, teabags, coffee and sugar. I'm not sure if I missed this on the inventory when I booked, but there is a washer and drier available, which is brilliant! And a dishwasher! However there was only one dishwasher tablet, and no laundry tabs. The property having it's own driveway/private parking space for one car is also great. The heating is brilliant, so easy to use with a Nest thermostat, and the house is gets warm very quickly. We had to turn the heating off for the day to make comfortable use of the wood burner. It's a bit impersonal... Grey and magnolia. Artwork of the Abbey or Whitby would have made it so much nicer. The kitchen knives are blunt and the batteries need replacing in the remotes. The king bed is very firm - bring a mattress topper! Noticed a few cobwebs in corners and behind the blind in the bathroom. That's minor, though. Great place to stay overall 😊
Positive: All of it Negative: Nothing
Try finding it! Positive: Love the location and on site parking Negative: The problems we experienced have been reported many times by other reviewers over the last 2 years: No property signage made finding it a stressful chore Cobwebs aplenty inside Lots of marks on the walls Terrible vacuuming job throughout No wardrobe in one of the bedrooms No mirror in the en-suite No logs for log burner Poor WiFi Zero character, not even some local prints or pictures Please remedy these problems so that we could stay here again.
Great location Positive: Location Negative: Needs some thorough cleaning
A great place to stay - well furnished and spotlessly clean - parking for 1 car is a bonus. My only niggle is that it was hard to find - it was early evening so dark and raining but still couldn't find #1 - the apartment itself doesn't say anything on the door. It's a small niggle though as we would go again
great as always Positive: location perfect lovely house Negative: a spare key would be handy, i realise some people have forgotten to leave spare key when departing maybe charge deposit and collect from Bagdale Hall hotel
Positive: Location. Parking Negative: Could do with a little tlc. The shower in ensuite kept clogging up
Few days away Positive: Location was excellent, parking space was a bonus. Comfortable beds. Lovely and warm. Well equipped Negative: If I'm being really picky, some of the blinds need repairing/replacing
Nice location but needs some tlc. Positive: It was in a good location. Had the amount of bedrooms I needed Negative: A little run down for the price. Could have done with a good deep clean especially in the bathroom areas. En suite especially dirty with pink mould on the shower head and dirt in corner of rooms. Paint wear and tear very visible as well as flooring which wasn’t really an issue but not aesthetically pleasing. Noise of telephone of the next door business ok the middle of the night which woke us all up. Feels like it could do with a good clean and paint. The constant advertisement messages were a bit much.
Outstanding location and comes with a parking space. We have stayed at this house before and have enjoyed all the benefits of staying at this property. I thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Whitby.
Exactly as photos, excellent location with free secure onsite parking.
Lovely stay but cottage a bit disappointing Positive: Location was excellent well placed for shops pubs sightseeing and restaurants. The staff in Bagdale Hall very friendly and the food was super Negative: The cottage was basic no character. No hanging space in second bedroom and not enough drawers to accommodate everything for 5days. Lived out of suitcases
Good central accommodation Positive: Close to town centre and has parking Negative: Outside needed a bit of a weed and next door has a loud telephone ring that goes off from 8.30 so no sleeps in.
Enjoyed Whitby and super location. Positive: Location was very good with secure parking. Accommodation was spacious and well equipped apart from comment below re bedrooms. Negative: Very noisy from premises next door. Lack of cupboard space and hooks upstairs. Courtyard could have been swept and dirty towel removed!
Disappointed Positive: The location was really good Negative: There is so much wrong with this place, dirty, needs some real tlc, fans need cleaning, shower was dirty, fire equipment has not been serviced last serviced 2021. The list was very long. Was a real shame
Positive: Comfortable and spacious, great location
Ok Positive: The location near town centre Negative: Lack of facilities in house Noise from wholesale warehouse next door
just OK Negative: a very empty/basic property, whilst it was clean, there is room for LOTS of improvement. The courtyard is absolutely filthy, the outside table covered in old dried seagull mess (we had to clean it before we could sit there). Lots of mold in the courtyard, no colour, not even one plant to add something. The kitchen floor has gaps in it, it needs repair. The coffee machine (my friend has exactly the same one so knows how to use it) was not functioning. There were no cupboards in the bedroom or dresser to put anything on, no place to hang towels etc. There wasn't any hand soap in any loo's so you had to go to collect your own handwash etc from upstairs. There wasn't a hairdryer!! (who does not leave a hairdryer). The pillows were flat, not comfortable - we could not get into the property until 4pm, due to (supposedly) cleaners being in there.....however, the house was fusty, it had not been opened up that same day, there wasnt even a small welcome pack to get a cuppa, just some little milk sachets in the fridge (the ones you need 10 of to turn your tea/coffee milky).........no colours on the walls - at least put a picture up!! What I have mentioned here would not cost the earth to put right and make this a more enjoyable holiday home to rent out. It is hard to find, at least put a sign up on the large black metal doors so its easier to spot!! The windows in the kitchen was full of cobwebs....not pleasant with some dead flies laying in it. All of this is simple to correct and make it better.
the location was brilliant but probably wouldn't stay again Positive: the location was really good, and the place could have been really nice but unfortunately its just there to make money and there not interested in the upkeep of the place Negative: the carpet was all ripped and not fastened down the en-suit bathroom was unusable as the water wouldn't go down and flooded the bedroom on the first night and part off the sink in the kitchen was broken and for the money they charge you'd think they'd keep the wee stains out the carpet
Quite comfortable but could do with a few extras and a better maintanence and a more thorough clean lots of cobwebs Positive: Modern and fairly new Negative: Nowhere to put things in the bedrooms or bathrooms upstairs, could do with a dressing table or shelves somewhere. No mirror in en-suite or bathroom . En-suite shower waste totally blocked took 10 mins to empty was afraid it would overflow onto the floor. Freezer was disgustingly iced up had never been defrosted. Sharp knives in kitchen wouldn’t cut anything very blunt.no hairdryer. Outside gate wouldn’t stay open and very difficult to get in and out . No bins upstairs at all. Main bed very hard. Carpet downstairs very marked.
Stayed for 3 nights, the property was easy to find, parking space behind the black gates. It was in an ideal location situated behind the hotel on Spring Hill. Very close to everything you need and within walking distance to sea front. Comprehensive online guide provided containing all the information you need for your stay. Train station is just around the corner and a handy Coop supermarket for any essentials needed. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, would highly recommend The Vault. We didn’t cook in kitchen so unsure of what was available but the house overall was well kept and very clean. Bedrooms very nice size and comfortable beds. Heating worked well and house was toasty when heating on. Loved our stay here and would definitely think about booking again. Didn’t need to contact host during stay as everything was perfect.
We loved the house. It was in a great location with private parking. 5 star! It was clean and comfortable and we would definitely book it again. Things I would change for future guests? Provide more than 1 key. It’s not safe to leave the house unlocked or be locked inside just because half the group want to stay out later at night or go out earlier in the morning . Provide a Mattress topper for the beds especially the main room - it’s so hard & replace the pillows. Lastly give clearer instructions of where the property is. (I only knew where it was because of previous reviews and I knew the area well prior to visiting.) That said we were very happy here had a lovely stay and will return.
Lovely warm house. Really conveniently located and the parking space is a bonus for Whitby! Communicative host and instructions which were sent for finding it were very helpful. Thanks!
Would return but not perfect this time round Positive: Clean, good location, parking. This was my second trip and I would like to return. Negative: We signed into Netflix and Amazon. Neither would play. There was sound but the image was severely distorted and couldn’t be watched. It was very strange. The normal terrestrial television worked fine. There were still no hooks or shelves in the bathrooms despite the feedback apparently being taken on board previously. Towels had to go on the toilet seat or on the floor. Radiator in living room didn’t come on with the rest (it was switched on) although the thermostat worked fine and could be turned up. As the coffee machine was still broken (it was in November 2024 as well), I messaged to ask how it could be fixed. I was told the coffee machine wasn’t available for us and the cottage wasn’t advertised as having one, despite there being one there on the bench with a large selection of pods. It is also in fact advertised (“coffee maker”). The Internet speed was very (very!) slow, always being under 20mbs but usually around 0.5-2mbs. I tried to get this rectified and I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me but they didn’t. I raised this after we returned home and was said they would take it on board but I wasn’t offered any money back or any gesture of good will. I would give it another go because of the location and parking but I was a bit disappointed at the fact nothing was done about the TV and internet for 4 days.
Great location to town centre and cottage had everything we needed for our stay
Positive: Location is only a 5 min walk to the harbour and the beach, on site parking, great size kitchen with everything you need Negative: Early check out of 10am ideally 11-12 o'clock would be great, Bathrooms need a few shelves, mirrors and some hooks for towels, dressing gowns when getting out the shower
Parking place, clean, good location Positive: Parking is a huge bonus for Whitby. I would definitely go back. It was clean and tidy. It was also handy having two bathrooms and three toilets (downstairs as well). The location is very good and very central. Negative: There were no logs for the log burner. I was told this is because the property is self-catering however I have stayed in at least 10-15 other properties that are self-catering and have log burners and I’ve always been left at least one small bag of wood which lasts a few fires. Also, the thermostat was set at 13 or 15 degrees. It was cold most of the time (I was there mid-November). You could turn it up but the thermostat said it had been disconnected so it wasn’t until day 2 that I worked out how to do it. I asked in advance where the parking space was and I was told to just follow the map. I did so and had no idea where it was, as I suspected, having looked on GoogleMaps before I arrived. I called up and was assisted quickly. I was told that others had struggled to find it too. For anyone else who books, it’s up the bank, on the right (going up), big black gate, lamppost next to it.
Weekend break Positive: No walking up the hill, nice location Negative: Kitchen flooring was sliding apart. The directions could have been easier. The map sent to the location was wrong , and it sent us back out to bagdale Road. There was no mention of going through the black gates or just the second lamp post up on the right, then turn into the courtyard with the black gates
Great property in an ideal location for walking access to everything in Whitby. Property was spacious, well-equipped and impeccably clean. Parking space was a definite plus in an otherwise very busy town. A little difficult to find initially (in the dark anyway!) but it’s behind the black gate opposite Princess Place.
Good location. Positive: Good location, though a little noisy. Negative: Outside area needs a good clean.
Excellent home from home . Positive: close to the town . Big Beds and very spacious. would definitely stay here again. Really helps having parking as well. Negative: nothing to say.
Great location and generally facilities . Improvements needed as stated above . Positive: Location, space, facilities, parking. Negative: Some aspects didn’t meet expectations re cleanliness eg the freezer and grill.
Positive: New sofas much more comfortable Negative: Needed tea towels and washing up items
Bagdale Hall at Whitby was a lovely, private, peaceful place to stay. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The off-road parking space was welcome, and we were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to visit. It might help other guests to know that it's located directly opposite Victoria Place, behind black gates.
A comfortable cottage in a lovely location Positive: The cottage was in a nice quiet area despite being close to the centre of Whitby. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Negative: The cottage was difficult to find - we had to ask for directions at a nearby hotel, as we couldn't spot where we needed to go from in our car. There was a Nespresso coffee machine provided, along with several different coffee pods, but the coffee produced wasn't very nice: it looked like the machine needed a good clean.
Comfortable and clean Positive: I liked the location, bedroom and three bathrooms. Negative: The WIFI wasn’t working due to a block on the account- this surely should have been checked prior to guests arriving- and this wasn’t resolved during our stay. We had no updates on the issue. We wouldn’t have booked if we’d have known there was no WIFI. The cottage itself was well maintained and beautiful throughout but there wasn’t a single bin upstairs or in any of the bathrooms and this is an issue for menstruating women.
Brilliant Negative: If you put a picture of the gate entrance would be easier to find property Had to go into hotel and ask Mike was extremely helpful Hooks on back of doors or walls in bathrooms would be handy
Positive: Lovely clean, modern, tidy house. Great location with parking for 1 car. Negative: Lovely house, just needed a few small things sorting. Arrived to a broken Nespresso machine, the toilet seat was very loose & slid to one side when sat on, the ensuite shower was very slow draining & maybe needed drain cleaner down it & the join between the wooden flooring & carpeted area downstairs needed re-doing. The map wasn't accurate showing the property in Bagdale Hall itself but it was up past the back lane & had to get out to walk & look for the house, but other that that a great stay!
Amazing location and had everything we needed.
Great location in central Whitby, with parking space. Spacious, well equipped cottage, mostly quiet and peaceful location. Would come again.
We loved our stay at bagdale, great location and the property was clean and tidy. We definitely plan on returning in the furure. Thanks
As always a fabulous time in Whitby we will definitely stop in this property again. Positive: The location was ideal & onsite parking a rarity in Whitby. The property was a nice size and would comfortably accommodate 5 although only 3 of us on this occasion. It was clean comfortable & modern. Negative: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like a minor grumble we couldn’t fathom the coffee machine, that was probably down to user error.
Very good location , quiet with parking. Positive: Couldn’t find the cottage as no sign and tucked away even the postman didn’t know! Satnav not helpful. Luckily the hotel is near and the staff there showed us. Parking for 2 cars is small and nice seating area Fresh bathroom refurb Negative: Limited kitchen supplies ( no bread knife) Bed in master very hard
A great holiday had by all Positive: The location was brilliant literally 2 mins walk to the harbour and town ..old town not far either all close by ..beach 10 mins walk everything at hand for a lovely holiday ..cottage clean and wi fi works ..comfy beds Negative: The seagulls but that’s not the cottage fault
Perfect cottage for exploring Whitby. Positive: The property was clean and had everything we needed (except a chopping board and potato peeler). The location was perfect and extremely close to Whitby centre, a stones throw from the rail and bus stations if you wanted to explore further afield. Will definitely go back, but for a longer break next time, 2 nights wasn't enough. Negative: It was difficult to locate as it is tucked away, and there is no sign to help you discover it.
Great location and once problems solved good holiday. Negative: On arrival no pillowcases on bed stain on duvet cover. No sinage on property to help you find it.
Positive: Easy access, very comfortable
Ideal place in Whitby Positive: This a lovely place to stay. Very close to the station and only a short walk to the sea front and town. It is very well equipped and clean with comfortable beds and furniture. I would definitely recommend the cottage and would stay again. It isn't easy to find you need to drive up the side road past the hall towards the hospital and you will see a large black metal gate the cottage is in there hidden from view. Negative: My only criticism is that there were no bins in the bathrooms or bedrooms. And there were no toilet roll holders in any of the bathrooms. It would be helpful with better instructions on how to find the cottage. We luckily got help from the staff at the hall.
Positive: Perfect location .excellent cottage everything we needed .very clean and comfortable. Room for two cars which is an added bonus .I would definitely recommend Bagdale Hall cottage. We will definitely be booking again . Negative: Nothing
Wins on location but could do even better. Positive: Really handy for the town centre, and good to have off-street parking. The property has quality equipment, and the new sofas are an improvement. It's good to have a little outdoor seating area. Negative: Despite comments in previous reviews saying it just needs some finishing touches to rate it excellent, few changes have been made...a few pictures on the wall, a mirror downstairs, coat hooks on bedroom doors etc. It is a little stark. An ashtray is provided outside but hasn't been emptied or cleaned on either of our visits. The noise from the commercial facility next door can't be helped but does have a negative impact.
Positive: Very clean, great layout. Had everything you needed. Great location, very close to the centre. Would recommend and when we come back will look to book there again. Negative: Shower needs looking at in En suite. Shower tray filled with water and wasn't draining away quickly enough, it was in danger of overflowing onto floor so had to turn water off. Maybe look at the plumbing. Other than that everything was excellent 👌
very dirty and unclean the property needs updating Negative: very dirty and unclean the property needs updating
Really enjoyed it! Positive: Amazing location - couple of minutes walk to the front, property is setup with everything that you could need. Negative: Some of the facilities / amenities weren’t suitable for 5 - sofas have been upgraded since pictures were taken so now have 6 seats but only 4 outside seats, 4 seats at the kitchen table (however there is a breakfast bar right next to it with 2 additional seats) and 4 forks.
Excellent location Positive: The cottage was extremely clean with everything required. The location is amazing, just a short walk into the centre of Whitby and the parking was a great bonus.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Positive: The location was perfect close to all amenities. Negative: The electric showers in both the bathrooms didn't work properly, kept going hot then cold. They could do with upgrading to mixer showers. Would of liked some logs left for the log burner.
