Had a lovely stay here, the pictures don't do it justice, everything was modern and luxurious and to a really high standard, the bed was especially super comfy. Definitely the best place I've stayed at in Whitby by a long long way. Free parking was really handy too. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Lovely comfortable flat in a lovely position - just a couple of niggles We really enjoyed our stay, and it is certainly a very attractive five star flat in terms of decor, facilities, views, location, nearby parking (often problematic in Whitby) etc - but it was let down by a rather unpleasant drain smell in the bedroom with the en suite, which we couldn’t get rid of. Everything there looked spotless but didn’t smell good. Also slight anxiety due to the check in process, because we were told full details of accessing the flat would be sent 6 hours prior to check in. I checked my email regularly as we were driving there, becoming increasingly concerned as no info arrived. We had told them we’d arrive at 16:00, so at 15:22 I emailed and explained we hadn’t received any info about accessing the flat - receiving an instant reply, with access details, at 15:24! So all was fine in the end.

Positive: We stayed as 2 couples at The Connell (apartment 5) in mid-February 2025. Although when we enquired after 2 car parking spaces at the property to be told we were only to get one, it was a pleasant surprise to find 2 permits allowing us to park directly outside for free for the duration of the weekend, bonus! The location is excellent with the sea 50m away, the main town 5 mins walk away, and a great beach front walk heading north to Sandsend (50 mins walk away with a lovely café, Mary’s) and Runswick Bay (3 hours walk away, and then get the bus back to Whitby)! The studio apartment is accessed on the 1st floor via stairs or a lift. No 5 has a lovely sea front aspect from the lounge. It has 2 spacious double bedrooms with huge comfy beds, wardrobe space and dressing tables. One bedroom was ensuite, the other used the family bathroom (which had a bath and shower). Both nicely presented and toasty warm, as was the apartment. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed to cook a full English, and there were plenty of glasses, cutlery and plates. The lounge had a large flat screen TV and sat 4 of us comfortably and there was also a large dining table (for 6) in the lounge with a view to the sea. The apartment is in a quiet location, very clean, well-presented and really well worth the money. Would we return to this property if visiting the area again, absolutely! Negative: Nothing!

Would definitely stay again Positive: The location was perfect. The size was perfect for a family of 3. The showers were great, comfy beds, lovely views, good facilities for cooking. Negative: On stripping the bedding before leaving one of the duvets was really badly stained. Could have done with a couple of bin liners.. had to go buy some.

Positive: The Area and how Spacious Bright and Airy it was. Negative: Getting parked initially was a pain but managed to get outside propert 2nd day of being there. Also if you go as a Family in 2 cars you should be able to have 2 parking permits. Maybe something for Host and Stay to look into. We were prepared to pay for the extra permit but wasn't given the option.

Excellent apartment with great seaviews and great location! Positive: The apartment was well equipped very clean . The beds were really comfortable! The view was amazing looking over the sea. Parking was easy and next to the property Negative: The check in time.. I feel 4 p.m. is very late especially when you are in between properties and the weather isn't good. I ask several times for 3p.m. check in which I feel is the norm for all Air BNB's and Hotel and most places will accomodate your request. They are quick enough to send you lots of emails to make sure that you check out at 10 a.m.!!! They also bombard you with emails which is annoying!

We know Whitby well and prefer to stay at the west cliffs. The flat is an amazing place to stay. I brought my parents for the first time which is why I chose a bigger apartment than we normally go for and it was perfect just as described. We’d definitely stay again even if it was just the two of us. Would highly recommended.

We made lots of memories just what we went for x Positive: The sea view and how clean and tidy it was. Yes there was a damp smell in the en-suite but it didn’t put us off.Just kept the door closed. Both beds were huge too. Will go again sometime. But will see when it’s slightly cooler. Oh and a plus there is a lift which is so helpful when there are disabled people. Plus the permit was a bonus. We enjoyed a two night stay with friends. the apartment was superb, modern, very clean with a fantastic view of the sea. The place was large enough to host two couples, without feeling cramped. The two large bathrooms were a real bonus, to allow extra privacy. We can't wait to come back.

Very nice apartment in a lovely quiet location in Whitby, overlooking the sea. Comfortable huge beds. Gave 4 stars for cleanliness as when i stripped the bed to leave, there was a huge stain on the duvet. It looked like it had been cleaned, but the stain remained. Needs to be replaced. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Lovely flat very spacious amazing big beds beautiful view and such a great location to be able to walk to everything. The car permit was an added bonus. Definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a place to stay in Whitby

A great 3 night stay for Steam Punk weekend, second visit here but won’t be our last! Positive: Great place, our second visit to this property and will definitely be back again Negative: Nothing, everything was excellent including the sea view from the lounge windows.

Perfect Location with lovely veiws of the sea front

Blessed with the weather we had a brilliant week with picture perfect views from the flat. Positive: Beautiful views of the sea. Lovely lounge area with large windows that opened to let in the sea breeze. Negative: The property wasn’t as clean as we expected, there were broken chairs in the bedroom and lounge. The wardrobes in one room were full of bedlinen making storing clothes difficult, especially as there was limited storage options anyway. The property just felt a bit tired and unloved.

Could have been a nice stay but was completely spoilt Positive: Lovely views of the ocean, great beds and well equiped. Parking was also very easy. Negative: From the moment we arrived the apartment had a terrible smell that was coming from the drains in the ensuite. It was reported the first day and we were given instructions on how to get rid of it, which we had already done! No one came the next day after reporting again despite being told they would. So another night of an apartment that smelt so bad you could smell it outside the front door. Spoke with them directly and got a guy that pretended he couldn’t hear me when the questions got tough and said he would call back which he didn’t! So spent two nights in an apartment that smelt worse than a public toilet on a bad day! Unimpressed

Very nice apartment with a contemporary fresh look, in a perfect position just a short walk from Whitby town centre and harbour which we did 3 times in our 3 night stay.a well equipped kitchen and a nice outlook out to sea from lounge/dining area, ample safe parking just outside the apartment and the area felt peaceful and safe. Would highly recommend.

ideal location, secluded with wonderful views and easy access to amenities. parking was plentiful both locally and nearer the centre with provided permit. Beds were very comfortable and the showers were good.

It was our second time staying here and it definitely didn’t disappoint choosing to come back to the same place again.

Positive: Location was excellent. Very clean and comfortable Negative: As others have said, a few supplied coffee pods, teabags and maybe a pint of milk would be nice on arrival. I accidentally ran out of hot water by having a bath. . I don't like the damage deposit malarkey- just roll whatever you need to into the adverised price.

The view from the apartment was excellent and the location perfect. The apartment is furnished to a high standard and has absolutely everything you could need. It has the feel of a luxury hotel which means it doesn’t have the usual personal touches an Airbnb has. The en-suite large shower head wasn’t working and walls needed a good clean but with another shower over the bath in the main bathroom it didn’t impact our stay. I reported it so 🤞it will get sorted for the next guests. But it was still really nice and those minor issues can be solved so I’ll be back.

The apartment is in a very good position with so much in walking distance. It has lovely sea views from the living room window. The apartment is airy. The kitchen area is well equipped.

Excellent base for Whitby stay! Positive: Pretty much everything! The location was fantastic - very central with free parking right outside, the accommodation itself was very nicely decorated, with lots of modern conveniences, great big sash windows, a balcony on the front which overlooked the Royal Crescent, good size rooms and lovely tall ceilings. The beds were comfy. It was very nearly perfect for the three of us who stopped there. Negative: There are three things I believe could be improved, but these are not deal breakers and I would still recommend people to stop here. 1. The hot water ran out on us on one of the days, no doubt due to the three of us having showers in the morning and using the water in the tank, which meant we had no hot water until it filled up on its overnight timer. The 'brochure' states the hot water is on demand, which isn't quite true as we found out, so just be careful if you are showering in quick succession. 2. When we came to use the dishwasher on the morning we were due to leave we opened it up and were presented with a rather nasty smell coming out if it and there was a saucepan left in there. No biggie for us, as we just manually washed up like we had been, but a point to note all the same. I should add here that I did report this on the same morning and the hosts quickly responded apologising and saying that would feed it back to their employees. 3. There was only one toilet roll left for us in each bathroom (i.e two in total, for three people, for a three night stay). Again, not a biggie as we bought more from the shop, but being giving the heads up about this would have been useful (I say this as my normal experience in accommodation like this is that there is more toilet paper in cupboards for guests to use).

Great location &good sized property. Positive: Lovely location and great sized rooms. Beds amazingly comfortable and slept well. Nice decor. Really well insulated, couldn’t hear a thing outside. Negative: Sofas really uncomfortable though. Shower in bathroom needs descaling. All the water came over the top of the shower and soaked floor so had to use hand shower instead. The property could do with a deep clean, corners in the bathroom floor dusty and black dirt in the shower screen floor. Cobwebs with spiders around the ceilings. But saying all of the above if corrected for the next people, this property makes a great relaxing stay in Whitby.

Brilliant, lovely apartment, beautiful views Positive: Loved the view, the flat is really lovely and modern, clean and fresh, very nice rooms - all-in-all, a really, really fabulous apartment. Negative: I do think a little more could be supplied to make things a tad easier. There was only one toilet roll in each bathroom, no kitchen towel, a tiny and not brilliant soap in each room. All others I've stayed at had a little welcome pack with a bottle of wine - I don't expect that, of course, but just a little bit more supplied just to make one feel welcome and to avoid immediately having to go to the supermarket for basics would just round off the experience. Sofas are also really uncomfortable.

Third time we have stayed here and it is probably the best small Abnb we have stayed in Clean warm and very well equipped. Lovely big bed. Lovely view Couldn’t ask for anymore. Host helpful and responsive. If only they were all like this. We will be back

We thought the apartment was great. It was as described, large,clean and modern. The location was really good, parking was easy and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. We would stay again.

The Connell apartment Whitby. (yeh) Positive: The apartment was lovely, clean and a great view of the beach and sea. The key box inside the main door numbered 1 to 16 could maybe have had a little identification plate with the Connell on it. Negative: Everything was fine thanks.

Beautiful apartment in great location Positive: Location brilliant and free parking close by. Property seemed much cleaner this year than last, not sure if different contractors. Negative: Strong smell of cannabis on one night in the hall way, clearly someone from another apartment had been smoking, this is totally unacceptable!

We had a lovely stay in this beautifully presented apartment. It was exactly as described and had fabulous sea views. There was plenty of space for four adults, making it a really comfortable base for our stay in Whitby. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend it to others.

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of such a nice facility. Positive: Location perfect. Beds very comfortable. Negative: The cleanliness and lack of basic essentials. The floor had not been cleaned in the living dining area. The dinner table had crumbs in the place mats when moved and the place mats were stained. The washing up liquid was the remaining dregs of what looked to be the previous guests as it was watered down. No hand soap in the en-suite bathroom. The bathrooms showers were absolutely filthy. The second bathroom had a previous guests toothbrush in the sink draw.

We really enjoyed our stay and we were so lucky with the weather! Positive: Great location and the property was very comfortable, modern, stylish and well equipped. Short walk into Whitby and close to all amenities and main attractions. We would happily return and recommend it to others. Negative: Parking was not a problem. We were able to find a space very close to the property, but we had an issue with the scratch card required for parking. We put the first scratch card on the car's dashboard -to park for the first 2 days. As it was late in the evening when we returned back to the apartment I decided to put the next scratch card on the dashboard very early on the next morning at 5.00a.m. We got a parking fine which was timed at 12.06 , so they must work all night. I think the owners need to make the rules very clear.

We loved our stay, the apartment was bigger than we thought, with a great sea view, comfy beds and good water pressure. We were pleasantly surprised by how well equipped the kitchen was - could have hosted Christmas! The parking permit was such a win, but also well positioned if on foot.

Rigtig dejlig lejlighed tæt på centrum Positive: Placeringen i Whitby var fantastik og grunden til at vi valgte netop dette sted. Det var også lettere end forventet at finde parkering tæt på lejligheden, det lykkes godt alle gangene. Sengene var behagelige og det var en dejligt, roligt område. Det var en dejlig overraskelse at der var elevator i bygningen. Negative: Ikke noget af betydning, men et par stole ude på altanen ville være rigtig godt.

Very satisfied Positive: The apartment was very nice and very comfortable it had everything you could possibly need and the location was great. Negative: The wi-fi could have been better, we were unable to get Netflix working and the hd channels were not available for a day.

Whitby was amazing and the location of the flat is spot on. Positive: The location and views from the appartment are exceptional. The harbour area with restaurants and walks were very easily accessible and were brilliant. Parking was very good and close to the flat. Negative: The hosts are quite distant and some of the neighbours were not ideal.

The best property weve ever stayed in at Whitby and as Arnie says “we’ll be back!” Positive: Everything! It was excellent and had everything we needed for a lovely 3 night break in Whitby. We couldn’t fault anything. Lovely comfortable furniture and a great outlook across the Crescent gardens to sea. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could need. The Connell was a fantastic base for our trip to Whitby. It had everything you needed and there was lots of space for everyone to chill out. The location is great, it takes only 5 - 10 minutes to get into Whitby town centre or the beach. Obviously the view from the apartment is spectacular! Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the Connell was most enjoyable once we were advised which apartment it actually was. It would have been hel Positive: The apartment was very clean and contemporary and perfectly situated for our requirements. Negative: Just a minor niggle in that the bathrooms could benefit from a couple of hooks to hang clothing and a small corner tray within the showers for holding products. This is a personal preference but it wouldn’t stop us from booking this lovely apartment again.

Absolutely loved the apartment and location. Positive: Location was great. We didn’t move the car once as we stayed in Whitby all the time. With regards to parking permit, park outside the apartment block and then go into the apartment and retrieve your parking permits. H&S didn’t tell us about this but luckily I’d read it on someone’s review so we knew what to do. The communal area was maintained well. The apartment was clean and well equipped. Communication with Host & Stay (via email) was great. Even on the day of arrival with information regarding the key. Negative: A holder for the toilet rolls in both bathrooms, have to place the roll onto the edge of the basin and it gets wet if you are not careful.

Nice stay in Whitby Positive: Really good location, beautiful apartment and some nice touches, like some tea coffee milk for a brew until you can get out to get some. Some washing up liquid and dishwasher tabs. Fantastic view, big windows hardly any noise. There was a scratch card left for us to park at the front of the property unfortunately we were told this was not going to be provided and we would have to use a pay and display, which we did and paid £11.80 for 24 hours only to find when we got in the apartment a scratch card for free parking. Bit annoying. Negative: The en suite in the main bedroom seems to have an issue with the drains, we did buy some bleach but the smell persisted, once this is sorted the apartment will be a little gem,

Well placed quiet and comfortable Positive: Spotlessly clean and well appointed, the apartment had everything required for a 3 day break. The beds are big and comfortable and unusually, the couches are too.. Its just a short shortish walk to the estuary and you can pass a couple of good pubs & bars on the way if you choose.. Parking was convenient being available right outside as it wasn't busy. Negative: Nothing.

A very enjoyable flat to stay in with a wonderful view of the sea. Positive: It was clean and very comfortable and has a great view of the Crescent gardens and sea beyond. Negative: The bed side lamp shades in the smaller bedroom were too dark so you couldn’t read a book in bed.

Overall a decent stay would like to return if the offensive smell was rectified. Positive: Beds were amazing, lovely location, comfortable seating in the lounge area. Negative: There was a very unpleasant drainy type smell which was really quite offensive, I have noted that this was mentioned in previous reviews and had hoped this would have been rectified. It’s also the first time we have stayed in an apartment where there aren’t even any basic provisions such as kitchen roll and washing up liquid. A parking disc is provided but it’s worth noting that there isn’t an allocated parking space, it’s more pot luck if you manage to get a space.

Lovely apartment in excellent location. However there was awful smell (drains/sewer?) coming from the en-suite bathroom, which you could smell as soon as you entered the apartment. Looking back at the reviews this has been ongoing for several years. Would return to Whitby but not this place unless the pong is removed/resolved.

Absolute heaven, fantastic apartment in a stunning location at a great price! Positive: The location was perfect, views of the sea and a short walk to the centre of Whitby. Couldn’t be in a better place, loved it so much. Easy to park, very comfortable, just perfection, will definitely stay again. Negative: Can’t think of anything it was great.

Fantastic place. We stayed in low season. Parking was immediately available outside the apartment with the scratch card permit provided. Spotlessly clean and well equipped property, the beds were comfy. Sea views from the breakfast kitchen and lovely clean windows everywhere that opened. The heating worked well - snowing during our stay. Easy walk down to the harbour and beach, and not far from the abbey. Cafes, pubs/microbrewery and bakery all close by. Although managed by an agency the communication was excellent. Would definitely book again. Thank you.
