Great family break. Stress free Positive: Great facilities and the location is stunning Negative: Nothing
Perfect for family get together Positive: Beautiful property and perfect location. Negative: No welcome pack with local amenities, WiFi info etc
The location is second to none. It felt so special to be right next to the Abbey, and Whitby was the perfect location to take our family of 5 (kids age 12, 15 and 18), something for everyone. The house is wonderful, so much character and space. However, all 3 shower knobs appeared to have broken and were tricky to use, bedsheets in upstairs bedroom had a ripped seam, and bed in top bedroom had struts in the middle which seem too long, and made us both roll towards the edge of the bed. In addition, velux windows upstairs did not open, despite presence of safety latches to limit extent of opening. This was still a wonderful holiday and a wonderful house, but we feel it requires a little more regular maintenance to call itself "luxury" accomodation.
Beautiful views and had everything we needed Positive: Location is amazing. Beautiful views from the rooms especially at sunset. Living room was large lots of room to sit. Kitchen had all the facilities we needed (apart from salt and pepper but we should have brought our own). You have to drive through the arch to get to the house which seemed wrong at the time but we were amazed that it was where we were staying. There is a sightseeing bus that drops you off at the abbey if you can’t walk the 199 steps up or down but it costs £8 for 24 hours. Bedrooms were large and comfy beds. Liked how the living room and kitchen had a door we could shut to keep the kids in one area. The stairs are quite steep and stone so you have to be careful with little ones. Negative: The top bedroom windows didn’t open. This was ok as it wasn’t too warm when we stayed but any hotter and that room would have been uninhabitable. I did send a message asking if these opened but didn’t get an answer. Also noticed a lot of dust on the beams (especially in that top bedroom). More than one key would be helpful.
A comfortable well appointed property in a great location. Positive: We loved the location and views. There's plenty of life around the Abbey during the day and quiet at night, made for a pleasant atmosphere. The property catered well for 7 adults and one child, we never felt on top of one another. Negative: We were lucky to have such wonderful weather but the two attic rooms were too hot at night. There was only one skylight operational which didn't help. A fan in each room would be welcome next time. Being an avid gardener I felt sad that the rear garden had not been kept to the standard in the publicity material. It didn't distract from the comfort of the property but would have made a better first impression on arrival.
This is a remarkable historic house in an amazing location. Excellently equipped for our family group, comfortable, great kitchen, lots of loos! Whitby was busy but we climbed above it all in minutes . Take binoculars to watch the wild life, and the swing bridge opening for tall boats.
The perfect place to be with my family to celebrate my 60th Birthday and to introduce the family to the Whitby area. We Positive: Beautiful accommodation in the perfect setting. Plenty of space and very comfortable for our party of 8 adults and 1 child. The only downside was the difficulty of turning on and off the showers in both ensuite bathrooms. ( Having looked at previous reviews this seems to be an ongoing issue from 2023.)The attic room ensuite didn’t flush properly also so only used it the once.
This is a cosy place in a superb location. Easy access to the Abbey and to central Whitby, lovely views over Whitby and the harbour. Good for family meals and socialising (there were 7 of us and the space was good for a group of that size). Convenient parking for two cars. Good heating, meant we were warm even though it was bitingly cold outside. Big stone walls gave it a classic, special atmosphere. Suggested improvements: better (ie sharper) kitchen knives; colander in kitchen; clear instructions on how to use the showers (or preferably simply replace the showers with units that are more intuitive to use). General observation: although the property can sleep 10, it would not be possible for 10 guests to have dinner together at the kitchen table (maximum 8). Summary: lovely setting for a family getaway.
Perfect weekend celebration with family Positive: Stunning location beautiful interior perfect for family or groups of 10 Negative: Nothing negative except couldn’t warm it enough with heating
Fantastic property right up in the Abbey grounds. Positive: Beautiful property. Great views, comfy sofas and plenty of lounge seating for a large group. Loved the stone staircase. Negative: Showers wouldn’t switch between rainfall and handheld. Not enough toilet roll / dishwasher tablets / tea towels provided.
Amazing location with easy access to 199 steps and shops! We had looked at other properties on the opposite side of the harbour, where it was more built up and we’re glad we chose this one. Whilst the location and size of the property for 8 of us west perfect, the cleanliness was poor and lacked the personal touch. We took a lot of food, as we cooked every day but the kitchen facilities lacked sufficient pans, and basic condiments - there was no oil, salt or pepper. Our main issue was the cleanliness of the property (specifically the top floor) and broken mattress. We reported the broken mattress on the first night (springs has broken on one side), and unfortunately the agent had to get approval from the owner to replace, therefore me and my wife had to sleep on a broken bed for the rest of our holiday. Overall superb location/property but let down by cleanliness and lack of personal touch from agents. Next time, I don’t think we’d go with a property that’s managed by an agent,
We had a gorgeous stay at this home in Whitby. The home itself is breathtaking and we were all stunned by how lovely it is. There was enough space for us all (8 adults and 2 children). The beds were really comfortable and the bathrooms/kitchen were very clean. They had board games which was a lovely touch and some information leaflets for the area. We all kept saying we would love to go and stay there again. The only small thing was the beams in the top floor bedroom were quite dusty. We had our fan on in there and noticed quite a bit of dust flying around. Maybe just needs a quick duster going over the top! Other than that, perfect stay in a gorgeous location. Thank you!
Beautiful house with absolutely stunning views. We stayed here for my mums 60th and was a little concerned after reading some of the previous reviews about the lack of kitchenware etc, this didn’t seem to be a problem for us though and there seemed to be enough for our party of 9 for the duration. The cottage is actually located in the ground of the abbey which was a nice surprise for everyone, felt quite regal driving though the abbeys archway and through the grounds at the front to access the property. Would definitely recommend!!
Fabulous! Positive: Everything was fantastic. We had an early Christmas there with our three daughters and their familys. We had taken things from home with us as we didn't know how equipped the house would be for us to cook a full Christmas dinner for 10 people. We found everything we needed already on site. We would definitely recommend the property and Host & Stay to family and friends. Negative: The showers were all really hard to turn on and off. - A minor problem!
Excellent Positive: Excellent location Negative: Only one key could be better with two due to the amount of guests (10).
Beautiful accommodation perfect for family or large group stays, particularly accommodating for our dog. Location wise, we loved how close we were to the abbey, 199 steps and beautiful scenery. would definitely recommend a quick few minutes stroll to Whitby Brewery too. There are beautiful views of the sea, harbour and Whitby itself from all windows. The accommodation was stunning! The stone and woodwork throughout made it feel like a very special place. The living room was a perfect size to all gather together for boardgames etc. All bedrooms were beautiful and presented well on arrival. We had a couple of issues with very hot water in the showers - we think it may be linked to different showers running at the same time? The garden area at the front was peaceful and lovely to sit in. The kitchen has plenty of useful equipment, the coffee machine was a hit! The only slight issue was a bit of wear and tear and the fridge could've been a little cleaner but this was easily remedied.
Great value, great property, great location. Don't need much more . Positive: Lovely old house, part of a terrace of Buildings within the Abbey complex. Our party consisted of 4 friends and we all had a room and toilet of our own . Facilities were very good, the location is stunning, The Harbour in front of you, the Abbey behind. The 200 steps up and down to town may be a challenge for some, but there's an alternative route with only 60 steps nearby. Parking for 2 vehicles on site, would happily visit again Negative: A few posts have mentioned the showers are quite stiff to turn on, we also found this to be the case. I appreciate it's not easy to do work when you have rapid turn round of guests, but it will continue be an issue for older clients i think.
Amazing house with stunning views of the Abbey and Whitby. perf Was a little tricky to find property as you need to drive through the gates of the Abbey but once we worked this out it was fine. As per previous reviews I was disappointed to have to pay another last minute charge of £25! Little sneaky. Few gripes with house - the showers are extremely hard to turn on and off and the kitchen lacked equipment for cooking a basic meal for example a tin opener that worked and a sharp knife but all in all lovely stay! Last comment on property company rather than the house. Whilst enjoying a quiet evening I had a phone call to say we had parked in the wrong parking outside the house and another guest was upset as they could not park. The parking isn't clearly sign posted but we had followed the link to the details of the house. I confirmed where we had parked three cars which was actually correct! This could have been handled differently rather than being accused of upsetting others!
The Coach House is perfect accommodation for a big group of friends or family. Its location right next to the abbey is amazing.
A lovely cottage in a great location Positive: The property was in a good location- directions to find it were helpful (and needed) - although some of our group arrived by train and walked from the train station so perhaps another set of directions if you are coming that way would be helpful. It’s a short walk (down steep steps) to the centre of Whitby, you can see the abbey from the cottage and the brewery is a 5 minute walk. The stone features (including the stairs) in the cottage add to the charm of the place. The downstairs has a good sized living space, then the bedrooms are upstairs across 2 floors - it was a well-sized property for a group of us. Negative: A toilet roll plus a spare in each bathroom would have been useful and enough washing up liquid for our stay - just to help keep the place tidy. We ended up buying more of both.
First of all. We’ve been coming to Whitby for over 10 years, and this is easily the nicest place we have stayed at. The location is perfect, right next to the Abbey. Plenty of parking, we had enough space for 3 cars. Kitchen is well appointed, big fridge/freezer, microwave, oven etc. Large living room is perfect for 4 couples, comfy sofa’s with smart tv. Only slight negative for me is that all 3 of the showers are very difficult to turn on, the mechanism needs looking at. Check in and check out process was nice and easy. Finding the actual place is a little tricky as you need to drive into the driveway leading to the Abbey, but this is just an observation. Place is pretty clean, difficult to get a house that big absolutely immaculate, but it’s like. 9/10 for cleanliness, which I’m happy with. The location and the views are what steals the show for me. It’s pricey, but between 4 couples it’s very affordable. We split it between 2 couples, and to be honest, I would happily pay it again.
The property itself is beautiful and in a stunning location. The only negatives for us were that one of the radiators in the bedrooms did not work. I contacted the maintenance team who never ended up getting back to us. This meant that 2 adults had to sleep downstairs as the room was far too cold to use. Also, one of the windows in the other upstairs bedroom did not close properly. Which also meant that bedroom was on the cooler side. It is a shame as the property itself is beautiful and set in a beautiful location. It was spotlessly clean and overall we had a lovely stay there. It was just unfortunate that although I had logged a call with host & stay, the problem with the radiator never got resolved and no other option was given in an attempt to warm the bedroom. It was for a special 60th birthday which luckily wasn’t entirely ruined as the 2 adults did not mind sleeping downstairs. Also, I had to contact host & stay to gain check in details as no information was sent prior.
A lovely spot for a multi-generational celebration weekend. Lots of space to grab some quiet as well as have fun together. Host reps were helpful in resolving a broken boiler on the first night, thank you. We were surprised at how busy Whitby was so early in the year and would have struggled to book meals on the day - any one going will need to plan ahead and book. We had a fabulous birthday celebration at Crocodile (Tapas), great pizza from Whitby Brewery and a marvelous lunch at Abbey Wharf.
Beautiful old property - fantastic positioning with great views of Whitby Positive: Position of the property was excellent. Rooms large and clean Negative: Lack of basics - not even a dishcloth to wash dishes - had to use the dishwasher for just the cups and glasses. Access to property was over grass / mud - meant difficult to not trample mud in to the property especially with dogs. We were also told the property was dog friendly - however on arrival we found that dogs were not allowed upstairs - not easy when they are in a strange property and are used to sleeping in the bedroom.
A beautiful location with amazing views over Whitby. The cottage was clean and well kept, perfect for what we wanted & met our expectations. The host was very responsive which was very helpful. We were informed that there was no high chair or travel cot so we packed our own but on arrival both travel cot and high chair were at the cottage. It was great to have a garden area to use but the steps and the entrance to the property were very overgrown with large thorns and nettles which was an issue with young children. Overall it was a great place to stay.
Had an awesome couple of days here
Beautiful property. It was spotlessly clean. The facilities were perfect for our party ages ranging between 1-71. Couldn’t have asked for more. The house is so comfy with plenty of seating in the living room and a kitchen with easy to use appliances. The surroundings are beautiful and the location is perfect for accessing everything Whitby has to offer. We will definitely be back.
Positive: Guest relation was just n o t. Existing and we did not feel Tagen care of. A typical example of investor's money project and a guest simply is "disturbing" the target to profit. The only great thing why we at all have chosen to come here is the overwhelmingly beautiful location, nature and sights around.
Really impressed with the layout of the house and its beautiful features - recommend slippers for the stone steps and wood floors though! We were only a party of 5 so had everything we needed, but felt that a max party of 10 would struggle if they planned to cater at all (two small saucepans, one baking tray, no Pyrex, etc). What the bedrooms lack in furniture (there are really only rails and not enough hangers), they make up for in floor space, if you don't mind a bit of a floor-drobe on holiday. App-based guide-book contained some helpful information about the heating, coffee machine, etc, but could have done with recycling info as this wasn't at all clear. Wifi worked well (thumbs-up from teenagers). Cleaners were prompt to arrive after 10am so don't mess about with your departure as additional charges are suggested. Good parking and very pleasant seating area on the front lawn. Lovely views of Whitby and the coast to the back, and the Abbey to the front - both a real treat.
If you’re a big family or two families holidaying together it’s a great place to stay. Positive: Very comfortable and very spacious. Good location. Enjoyed the stay. Negative: Nothing to dislike.
Great stay despite the dtorms Positive: Bigger than it looked in the photos
We booked the property as a party of 10 for parents 70th. The house and location was perfect. All bedrooms comfortable doubles, 2 with en-suites. Large sitting room to easily seat 10 people.
Perfect place and location
Beautiful old coach house Positive: Location and views excellent. Very spacious for a 10 people Negative: Parking. Front Garden could easily be made to accommodate extra cars.
Residence exudes rustic charm. Host was extremely responsive, helpful and patient.
Filthy property in need of a deep clean and a refurb. 2 out of 3 showers didn't work, broken furniture. Dirty kitchen, crockery and utensils. Stained soft furnishings, bedding and towels. Spent most of weekend cleaning or communicating with hosts and airbnb over issues. Photos on listing were obviously taken several years ago. Potential to be a beautiful property in a fabulous location, but not in present state.
Superb holiday, accommodation and location. Whitby and surrounding area is beautiful. Positive: The location and accommodation were perfect for the whole family. Scenery superb and cooking facilities excellent. Negative: The hill from town is steep and may not be suitable for aging or infirm people. However, easy access by car or taxi
Coach House Whitby - large property with 3 parking spaces Positive: Location was great and the accommodation was large and comfortable and catered for the needs of the 8 of us. It was good to have 3 parking spaces as this is pretty rare in Whitby Negative: On arrival directions to the property are a bit confusing- perhaps some photos would assist. We had some issues opening some of the velux windows which clearly need a bit of maintenance. Host and Stay were reasonably helpful with suggestions and after some toing and froing did offer to send someone out however we had by then eventually managed to open one which gave enough cooling. Some of the facilities were a bit lacking - dishwasher with no tablets , coffee machine with no pods, only one cleaning cloth and no spare bin bags. We did ask if we could arrive earlier than 4pm and also asked if we could leave one car on the property for a few hours after we'd checked out (to visit the Abbey) both requests were refused.
Loved our time in this lovely home. Must be one of the best locations in the country overlooking the abbey and a stones throw away from the 199 steps and Tate pier beach. Fab time making memories.
Good , great location . Excellent communication with the host , ideal placed cottage with parking Positive: Excellent location have stayed there previously Negative: The house is very clean and tidy however due to the hot weather there was a clear smell of dog in the living room which was a little disappointing
Beautiful property in a beautiful location, perfect for a large family. Positive: The property is beautiful. It was very comfortable with enough space for 9 adults. The location was superb with views across the estuary. It is situated in a very quiet and peaceful location which was good for sleeping with windows open in hot weather. The kitchen, living room and dining table worked well for our family. Negative: Other reviews had mentioned some issues with the showers, these hadn’t been quite resolved, however we were able to manage fine and the showers do work.
Positive: Excellent location. Very clean and comfortable Perfect size for out group Negative: Shower on/off dials were very stiff in one of the bathrooms
The customer service stuff probably got under my skin a bit but apart from that we had a lovely time at this house and w Positive: Amazing location right in the Abbey with nice views of Whitby. Can walk the coastal path by just leaving the house. Abbey brewery is like 2 minutes walk and there is also the lovely youth hostel bar and restaurant next door. Lovely building which retained some of the stonework from the olden days. Negative: Poor communication with hosts. I enquired about a travel cot which was apparently available on demand but was told they could not provide one but I was “welcome to bring my own” which I was like thanks what else am I supposed to do in this situation. On arriving at the property found a travel cot in the closet! I also asked about parking and was told that parking was not guaranteed despite being advertised on the property details. I started to get annoyed with the chat at this point and got a further response detailing that there was in fact parking. I think the problem is I was probably talking to an AI chat bot which had no actual knowledge of the property and was just reflecting non-committal words back at me. The windows are quite small which is a shame because of the view. Also we stayed during the May heatwave and it was very hot in the attic and only one window would open. They could do with providing some fans and fixing that window. I note others complained about this in previous reviews and I suspect this review will also get the same AI response about how they will work to improve this lol. Also lots of texts trying to upsell things like early check ins for £££.
Excellent location and accommodation let down by Host & Stay hollow promises Positive: Superb location and large well equipped character property with panoramic views over Whitby. Negative: First thing the morning after we arrived I called Host & Stay (an offshore call centre?) to inform them that one of the bathroom overhead showers wasn't working and the dishwasher was faulty, with the drain function not working. I was promised by Host & Stay that the faults would be fixed and left the key in the keysafe to allow maintenance access whilst we were out. When we returned we found to our dismay that the fauIts had not been fixed. I phoned Host & Stay who said the work had been signed off as completed at their end, and they were surprised to hear there was still a problem. I was asked to wait on the line whilst they looked into it. I hung up after 30 minutes! The advantages of a private host rather than call centre should not be underestimated!
Fantastic stay in a beautiful house and unbelievable views! Would recommend watching the video to find the house as it could be confusing to find. Had an amazing stay and will definitely be back !!
Comfortable enjoyable stay in a great location Positive: Location Negative: Insufficient cooker for the property size
Magical location a few niggles to sort for a perfect stay! Positive: Absolute stunning location, within the Abbey grounds. Very magical. Good sized house for multiple families or couples to holiday together. Lounge area is a good size and bedrooms are large and spacious. Beautiful rooms and stairwell. Would love to have known more about the house and its history! Negative: Lots of emails offering later check out for more ££, which we didn’t require. However, due to this offer asked to pop by a few minutes earlier (than check-in) to drop some balloons in for my Dad’s birthday but told no because of thorough cleaning. Yet arrived to bins not emptied and drawers full of previous guests belongings. Like other reviews, showers are very stiff. Limited glassware for large parties. Also outside seating is very limited. Car was blocking the drive from the next door property (also Host Stay) so had to park around them to fit all cars in and move by 10am for their check out. Emailed the company and generic response to park elsewhere received. For the money paid felt these issues shouldn’t be an inconvenience!
It’s a lovely building in a brilliant location and fairly priced too. The biggest letdown is how tired properties. It co Positive: The property is in a stunning location, the property itself is beautiful too Negative: A lovely building
Positive: Property, location, views, comfort Negative: Nothing, would've preferred another key though, but that's it!
Fantastic location pleasant house let down by poorly equipped and maintained kitchen, no grill pan, toaster, coffee making no jugs or tea pot, cleaning could be better Host and stay were unresponsive to problems only bot messages which were not helpful
Brilliant location opposite the Abbey. Quick & Easy access to the Town Positive: n/a Negative: nothing
We had a 5 star stay in the beautiful coach house. The property is beautiful, and in a stunning location! Wonderful views over Whitby and the abbey, and it felt really special to drive through the abbey grounds to access the property. The property was spotlessly cleaned when we arrived, and the kitchen in particular was very well equipped. The living room is a welcome sanctuary to relax in after a day exploring the local attractions. The house is located right next to the abbey and museum, so in a great position to walk down in to Whitby. All of the bedrooms are lovely and cost too, and stylishly decorated. We had a wonderful stay at the coach house and would definitely return.
The house is beautiful and in such a wonderful position. We enjoyed the living space and the spacious bedrooms.
Lovely location
This is such a beautiful home in the perfect location. We absolutely loved our stay and will be returning ☺️
Lovely location and views. The place itself is lovely all bedrooms and bathrooms clean. Some marks of glassware and plates/ bowls but otherwise no issues with cleanliness. Enough toilet roll, dishwashing tablets, bin bags ect. Definitely would come back.
Beautiful, well appointed house in an excellent location Positive: Lovely character property with good-sized bedrooms Negative: Nothing
We all had a fabulous stay in great house and location . Can highly recommend
Quiet, comfortable with fantastic views and access to Whitby attractions. Positive: The location was lovely with lots of great views. It was also very private and quiet. The lounge furniture was very comfortable and plenty , as was the space in that room. Beds were comfortable although one was a bit squeaky. The stairway was quite a feature. The Coach House was warm and inviting and the large dining table was a great gathering point for meals. The online info book was great. Negative: There could have been a much better welcome package for the price we paid. The items that were provided for use such as dishwasher tablets and bin bags were very budget buy and we often had to rewash items that had been in dishwasher. The shower on/off function in 2 rooms were very difficult to turn on to the point I couldn't do it. Lots of cobwebs in windows and maybe a look at cleaning in general needs addressing ( mainly downstairs) bathrooms and bedrooms satisfactory. Garden could have done with a spruce up too, grass quite long and lots of thistles around bottom area.
Great location and very spacious house. Easy walk to the town centre.
Wonderful stay at the coach house in Whitby. The location and views are perfect. Accommodation was everything we were hoping it would be and the surrounding area ideal too. Thanks
We had a really nice stay here! The location is great and the views are fantastic. Decor is really cosy, beds comfortable. I would expect the level of cleaning to be much better (looked like a rush job when we got there) and general maintenance should be attended to as well (shower mechanisms are very stiff!). Plenty of parking available and good amenities nearby - would definitely recommend a trip to the Whitby Brewery. We would come back and I would definitely recommend to others to stay there!
We had a nice time staying at The Coach House, the scenery of the surrounding area and the Abbey is lovely.
Absolutely beautiful property, surrounded by amazing views
The house is set in the most beautiful location with stunning views. The property has beautiful period features whilst also feeling comfortable and modern. Worth every penny, we will certainly be booking again.
Lovely property in a great location with fantastic views over Whitby.
Spectacular place to stay right next to the Abbey, and peaceful above the town. Characterful house with 5 good sized bedrooms. Nice place to sit outside and admire the skyline of the Abbey with a cold drink. Unfortunately the boiler was faulty and we had no hot water, but the hosts were responsive and offered to relocate us. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Positive: Tolle Lage, schönes Haus Negative: Ausstattung der Küche
Lovely place in a great location.
We had a wonderful stay. The house could not have been better situated and the kitchen and living space were ideal.
Great location with views of the town, harbour and the abbey.
This is a wonderful location and the property is very quirky with amazing views. I would highly recommend the property everything is in easy reach. Older people would need to drive into Whitby.
I loved every minute there Negative: A bin in each bedroom would be good
The Coach House is a beautiful property right next to the abbey, if you struggle with steps then this probably isn’t the place for you but we absolutely loved the position. The property was clean and as described, a couple of issues which we reported as requested but didn’t affect our stay. So glad we received clear instructions on how to find and watching the video really helped. An absolute gem. Apologies as we think we forgot to put the dishwasher on for a final time as we left so hope this didn’t hinder the cleaning team. We’d definitely come back
Great, quirky accommodation with loads of space and very comfy. Ideal location, easy to find and quick access to the town centre. Host always on hand if you need them.
The property was beautiful. It was warm, comfortable and so peaceful. The location right next to the Abbey is superb . The rooms are all really nice sizes and bathrooms were great . Nice garden at the front and superb views over Whitby harbour . Would definitely go back .
Great house in a unique location Positive: Unique location
Great weekend with superb accomodation. Positive: Excellent accomodation and location. Ideal for our needs and would definetly ujse it again.
Had a fantastic stay and accommodation was amazing. Great location.
Lovely property in a fantastic location. Positive: Lovely rooms. Stunning design. Negative: The host and stay company that manage the property charge a damages fee that they don’t tell you about.
Positive: Clean comfortable good location
The house is lovely with brilliant views of the harbour and also the Abbey. Onsite parking, with great instructions on how to find the house. The house is clean and clutter free. Great communal rooms, good kitchen and living room. Lots of space. Beds clean and very comfortable.
Great property in a great location. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.
excellent place would definitely book again lovely location fabulous property Positive: lovely location fantastic place Negative: nothing
Really nice place in a good location
Perfect location just wasn’t as clean as I’d expect with how much I paid to stay there Positive: The coach house is in the perfect location with beautiful views of Whitby and the Abbey, also the property had 5 good sized bedrooms which was nice and plenty of parking Negative: Just 2 things that let the property down, firstly the property hadn’t been cleaned very well thick dust everywhere sweet wrappers all over the place oh and grass in the bed? Secondly there was only 1 tv in the whole house and even that one didn’t work
Lovely place with lots of the original old features kept in its conversion to comfortable contemporary stay. has lots of small windows overlooking the harbour, fantastic breeze off the sea. 5 comfortable bedrooms, well equipped, nice and comfortable all round with a fairly nice picnic garden outside. Located away from the bustle, atop the cliff with a long steep set of stairs down to the village and jetty etc. responsive host. would recommend.
Fantastic stay in a beautiful location. The house is stunning.
Firstly, watch the hidden charges. There's a £200 'cleaning fee' that was compulsory. In addition, you could not get check-in instructions until you paid a mandatory insurance fee - either £250 deposit (refundable minus a £10 fee) or £25 non-refundable damage waiver. You don't get a choice in this and the contact number takes you to an Indian call centre. This process is money-grabbing, frustrating and annoying; wish they'd just have one charge like most other properties do (we weren't using Host & Stay's website to find). However, the property and location are superb, right next to the Abbey and hidden away behind museum. Plenty of steps inside and out of the house but it's worth it for the quality of fittings and location. Views out of the window over the harbour are fabulous. In sum, lovely house, great location, but annoying charges being fobbed off to a remote callcentre with little idea of the property.
