pictures do not do this property justice. the garden is stunning. the interior is well kept and, as well, stunningly beautiful. it's obviously a very looked after, thoughtful house that is fantastic for families. will definitely be back!

We had a lovely stay at The Cheeky Squirrel. The house is clean, warm and cosy, with a nice garden, and New Brighton Beach is just a few minutes’ walk away. I live in Wallasey but had toilet renovations at home, so I booked this place for two days for my wife and three kids. The location was perfect, especially with my daughter’s school just around the corner. My kids really enjoyed the squirrel theme. All the cute miniature squirrel decorations Charlie and his team put together are thoughtful and unique. We even saw the funny sign saying the property is controlled by a trained squirrel and then spotted a real squirrel at the doorstep, which made it even more special. The welcome snacks and drinks were a lovely touch. It is a one bedroom property, so families with three small kids may need to use the small downstairs room. I would definitely recommend it to couples or friends visiting Wallasey. Thank you for hosting us.

Location was perfect for the purpose of our trip. Close to beach, shops, restaurants. There was milk in the fridge and some coffee and tea. Toiletries also provided. There were Christmas decorations which was a thoughtful touch. The kitchen is well kitted out with everything we needed for food preparation. Beds also comfortable. I imagine in the summer it would be a great place to stay because there’s a sun room and large garden. On the downside, it was a bit draughty. We had quite wet and windy weather so maybe it isn’t always like this. The house is also very cluttered with stuff. It’s a question of taste. Some people might find this ‘homely’ but for me it just feels too ‘busy’ and was not a very relaxing space to be in.

Would be adequate for a short stay i.e. long weekend, but definitely nothing longer. Positive: 1: Nice welcoming touch with a bottle of Prosecco, nibblies and welcome message left for us. 2: Owner was very nice and as helpful as she could be. 3: Location was very good. Negative: Where do we start!! 1: Arrived at dusk with instructions to get keys from lock box. Looked everywhere -no lock box. My son found the keys in a plant pot as it was getting dark. Apparently, the owner had advised the agent but they failed to advise us. What's more, as we had extended our stay in advance and having advised them of the missing lock box, Host & Stay still sent me a text and email saying the keys were in a lock box! 2: Booking was accepted on the basis of 2 bedrooms - 1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 singles. Main bedroom was a mezzanine not a room and the 2nd room had a single bed that would extend to a double! When we complained to Host & Stay they simply said 'this property doesn't have what we booked. Why take the booking then! My youngest son had to sleep in the living room on a pull-out. 3: The house is filled with movement detector lights so every time my son moved in his bed the stair lights went on. We had to take them off the wall so he could sleep. 4: Washing machine worked great but nowhere to dry the clothes. Had to put the washing line up myself by wrapping it round a tree and the clothes maiden we asked for collapsed on first use. 5: Downstairs toilet blocked up and had to get owner out to unblock it. 6: Water from upstairs bathroom dripping through ceiling in kitchen. Had to contact owner to try and fix it. 7: Council bins in garden provided but no way to get them to the front of the house for collection. Only way was through the house which we were not going to do. 8: TV very confusing with no instructions provided. Continual message about 'have you paid your license' popping up and for the last 2 evenings, no live channels. In conclusion, very disappointed and you do NOT expect to travel 12,000 miles to deal with such issues.

What a place! We adored it! The sun room was our favorite place to be. But the whole house was cozy, and comfortable! Highly recommend!!

We had the best time staying here! The decor made us feel right at home and was so tasteful, we even managed to see the squirrel! Really responsive hosts and great location.

We enjoyed staying in this quirky house. The decor is certainly eclectic but it is super clean and the garden is absolutely beautiful. We were catching up with family in the area and appreciated the good transport options by train and bus. It’s a short walk to the many pubs in Victoria street and also to the conservation area in New Brighton where we would thoroughly recommend the Magazine Hotel for a great night out with live music and great company.

Wonderful and Wow! Can't wait to go back! Positive: The Cheeky Squirrel is such an adorable, lovely, warm, cosy, homely place to stay, and the back garden is beautiful, tranquil and very spacious too. The whole place is full of charm and unique character. It's also within about a 10 minute walking distance from all of the main attractions in New Brighton. We even got to hand-feed a cheeky squirrel who often visited the back garden! 10/10! Negative: Not much could have been better, but a pair of kitchen scissors would have been handy. Also, the code for the WIFI was unclear in terms of upper and lower case letters, so we had to ring Host and Stay for clarification. But other than that everything was pretty much perfect 😊

Spotless accommodation.

Property is in a great location to explore New Brighton and the Wirral, as well as super close to the train station if you want to go to Liverpool & beyond. The garden is incredible. We are a couple with a baby and I would say that felt like enough people in this space. As the bedroom is on a mezzanine you are kind of still in the lounge and there’s not a huge amount of privacy if you did have a 3rd person with you. In terms of the decor it is quite busy & cluttered and felt even more so once we added our own items. It’s worth noting if you have a baby with you the stairs and the floor of the mezzanine are quite creaky so be prepared for some stealth work!

Positive: The interior is stunning and so photogenic—guaranteed to get likes on Instagram. The courtyard is gorgeous, and the kids were thrilled to spot a little squirrel eating peanuts in the morning. ​Everything is fully equipped, and it’s just a 10-15 min walk to the beach and station. Whenever we needed help, someone showed up in minutes. The locals are super warm and helpful. We had an unforgettable stay! ​ Negative: The only minor thing: the light switches are a bit confusing (couldn't figure out one of the main lights), but totally a minor issue. Highly recommend!

Acogedora y cómoda para relajarte y sentirte como en casa. Positive: Una casa muy bonita, con muchos detalles y un jardín estupendo. La casa estaba perfectamente limpia y con todo tipo de comodidades. Estábamos informados en todo momento por lo que llegamos sin problema. Además te envían una aplicación con toda la información sobre la casa, los alrededores y sugerencias para comer y moverte por la zona. Está en la zona de New Brighton, una zona tranquila donde pudimos relajarnos y pasear por la playa. Bien ubicada, con tren que lleva a directamente a Liverpool en poco tiempo. La casa se llama la ardilla traviesa porque por las mañana hay ardillas en el jardín. Son encantadoras y los propietarios te dejan un cuenco con cacahuetes para que les des de comer. Si vais con niños, les gustará. Nosotros hemos pasado unos días maravillosos. Gracias por hacernos sentir como en casa! Negative: Todo estuvo perfecto.

As regular visitors to New Brighton, l think it was a delightful venue, and fulfilled our needs and expectations. Positive: Peaceful location. Lovely conservatory to relax and look at the attractive garden. Not too far to walk to the Promenade . Generally a nice homely feel. Negative: No problems with the property. Maybe a pity that there were a few crossed wires with people at Host and Stay, a bit stressful, but all resolved satisfactorily. Always nice to be able to communicate directly with owners when possible too, although l appreciate that isn’t always convenient.

Great location for a stay in New Brighton - close to the beach and easy to get everywhere. The property was lovely a clean, and had everything we needed for our short break.

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy house. It had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The garden deserves special attention - everything is made with so much love and care. This is the kind of place you want to explore and admire. The hosts provided very detailed instructions, which made everything easy and stress-free. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for creating such a special place. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely love to come back again.

I went with my boyfriend for my birthday for 3 nights and it was beautiful, very cozy and the beach was lovely preferred to be near the house then going into the city! Would come back.

Stayed 4 nights. Couldn’t fault anything. Hosts were perfect and house had everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Absolutely beautiful! 10/10 would definitely stay again! The only thing I would suggest is some usb’s to charge phones etc.. other than that it is perfect and we loved it! Thank you 😊

Nice house and location, very convenient

place was lovely and charming, location great , very clean , host left gifts, good TV, lots of board games, lovely sun room. bedroom was set up a little strange with the door opening right next to your head, loud air freshener kept making us jump, towels are very soft, would bring my own next time, also there is a motion light that shines in your eyes in bed if you move at all, we had to take it down. it was November and stormy out which made it quite draughty in the living room and the heating didn't really help. overall the place was lovely, it was comfortable and homely, and would recommend.
