My family and I wished we could have stayed longer. A thoroughly nice place to stay in a beautiful part of the country.

Lovely location, great cottage and facilities. So much to do within 10-30 minutes drive nearby. Stayed as a small family of 2 adults and 1 little one and it was perfect. But easily would be enough for family of 4-5 too. Host was lovely on arrival and leaving. Great week away.

Comfy cottage... Positive: Large comfortable lounge and bedrooms. Beautiful area. Close to the sea. Negative: Signage at the site was poor. Instructions need to say that the entrance is to the right of the hotel next to a low white gate. The Arches main sign had fallen off from the roadside view. The cottage sign was too small to see in the dark and rain. Difficult to find. Even another family let themselves into our cottage by mistake. The kitchen needed a potato peeler. The coffee had gone rock solid. It was so old. Difficult to get the shower temperature right.

Positive: Quiet location tucked away on the golf course. Plenty of hot water and warm. Negative: Kitchen and contents could do with updating. Cleanliness acceptable, but some areas could be improved eg. Oven door, corners of rooms, dusty lamps.

If I was heading back up to Yorkshire for any reason, I would happily stay again :) Positive: The location was better than I expected if you enjoy some peace and quiet. Tucked away down a hill in the middle of Hunley golf course (not seen with Google Earth!) it's a beautiful spot surrounded by trees. A walk up the hill to the golf club bar 5 minutes! Negative: Initially I had nowhere to hang our washing but Jeannie, the lovely host lady living nearby supplied us with a clothes horse. Nothing too much trouble if you need anything :)

Accommodation was lovely and spacious, and we were warmly welcomed. Thought it was good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing cottage bursting with character and charm. Chris is a wonderful host offering great advice on local walks and he instantly resolved the issue of my daughter locking herself out of her room. What a treat to see so much wildlife on the doorstep - bats, hares, deer, swans, barn owls and squirrels. The place has so many rooms to find solace with a gorgeous breakfast room to enjoy the morning sun and a stunning conservatory in the evening to watch the squirrels gathering and feeding. The woodburner was an extra delight with the rather sudden appearance of autumn. The cottage was toasty warm and such comfortable beds and furniture. It feels so private and peaceful with everything you could need with such a well stocked kitchen. I would highly recommend and hope to get back as soon as we can.

Absolutely stunning property in great location

for those who need to know there are steps in several places ,2 down to entrance through conservatory, 2 to get inside main house, step down into ensuite from kingsize bedroom, one step down to twin bedroom,with level entry into ensuite, and also second conservatory. I used my lightweight walker inside , left at the door to sitting room and managed with crutches to get out and up steps to the car with my daughters help. It`s funny what items are available ..and not.. in air bnb kitchens.. we managed to roast a chicken in a 2lb bread tin..there were two 1lb bread tins as well! but no roasting tins or sheets. there was a bowl tho..needed to mix my coleslaw.. We had a great time here at Arches. visiting Whitby which was very busy ... much prefered Saltburn by the sea ! 10 minutes away and loads of free parking at the front with benches facing the lovely sea views. Arches cottage is in a lovely spot with the golf course around so nice and quiet..lots of supermarkets around too ..

Good to have 2 bathrooms, place was well equipped and ckean, would go again

Myself and my partner took my 92 year old grandma away for a long weekend away, she wanted to go to the Yorkshire coast one last time. The accommodation was perfect, easy for her to mobilise around, quiet, clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for helping us create some ever lasting, beautiful memories.

A beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings with beautiful views. Cottage was very spacious very clean with comfortable beds and nice comfy furniture to relax on. Sadly Kitchen was a little tired, a cupboard door hanging off! It is definitely in need of a little bit of TLC, frying pan was misshaped so wouldn’t safely rest on the hob to cook with. Oven took ages to heat up. The toaster didn’t work properly- was stiff to get bread to stay down on one side.

Great stay and cosy home! Loved the location, a great escape to the country! Communication was great from the team and facilities for the stay were sufficient. Shower was a bit difficult to sort with very hot water once started. I would recommend

I had a fantastic couple of days break away from everything whilst staying here. So quiet and relaxing! I'll be staying again for sure as a fantastic location as well. The hosts are very pro-active and responsive, great attention to detail.

A stunning place with beautiful surroundings, the host was an absolute gem .

Spacious and comfortable accommodation. Need non slip mats in baths. Also could do with yellow non trip tape on floor height changes. Well equipped but could have done with a potato peeler! Ideal spot for accessibility for beautiful coast and moors.

This was not a first time visit for us, we were joining a group of friends in the main house which was a bonus for us. The venue overall is fantasic for either small personal stays, utilising the attached cottage or family/group events and having easy access to the main building to join others.

Positive: Cosy property Negative: We didn’t receive key lock code and had to call host & stay to get this. We entered the property to unchanged bedding and towels left from the previous guests.

this place is huge, big rooms, bedrooms lounge kitchen, two conservatories to enjoy, bookshelf full of books. all you need appliance wise. quiet location with 10min access to supermarket/ petrol station. good food in l9cal pubs etc. would highly recommend.

Positive: The bungalow was very clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. We met the handyman who was very friendly and chatty. We would certainly come again and recommend to others. Negative: The front and rear outer door locks were tricky to lock. Although there were nice wooden blinds in the bedrooms they still let light in and unfortunately the curtains didn't cover the windows.

not recommended Positive: plenty of hot water Negative: lack of everyday material took a full week before anything was actioned after 5 emails. it had 1 teatowel, 1 dish cloth, less than 5mm of washing up liquid, no clean sheets and only 2 dishwasher tablets, this had to last 2 weeks. The pictures didn't show the true condition of the property

Absolutely appalling. The cottage is dirty, smells musty and needs deep cleaning and updating. We left within an hour of arriving. The cottage smelt mouldy/damp, the shower was hanging off the wall, sofa is all stained, kitchen tap was leaking continuously, the blinds in the conservatory don’t open and have mould on them. There are cobwebs everywhere, the fridge and microwave were dirty. We were moved to another property which was in a terrible area. Host & Stay replied to messages until we complained and to this day we still haven’t received a response. Absolutely terrible service, don’t recommend booking here!

Basic but in a nice location Positive: Very spacious,nice location Negative: Dripping tap in kitchen,shower in twin room broken off the wall,no oven gloves or dish cloths,lots of rugs which some where a trip hazzard,noisy location because of an event next door,conservatory smelt of smoke,and I didn't like paying £25 to cover any damages,in all the years I have rented cottages I have never been asked for a deposit that I wouldn't get back.sorry but I've stayed in better places with welcome packs,won't be back

Great location and quirky vibe. Just needs a make over and proper kitchen set up for four people. Bathrooms tired, outdated and damp smelling. Recycling a bit basic. Great television and WiFi.

Very disappointed as the property let down what should have been a good time. Positive: No real positives to like about the property. Negative: On arrival the property was cold the bedding felt damp and cold. There was no instructions on how to operate the hot water and heating. The television controls had no batteries fitted in them so operating the tv was very difficult. The showers had no proper control and quite dangerous to use as there was no real control over hot or cold. There was a large bath but no handrail which made it difficult getting in and out of the bath. The cleanness of the property was not up to a standard expected (photo attached). The kitchen was ill equipped with no oven gloves or a hand towel and only one tea towel provided. There was no instructions for waste disposal or any options for recycling. The issue with shower was reported to one of the staff but nothing was done to rectify the problem.

Positives were - Lovely, cosy lounge area with plenty of sitting. Kitchen area clean & useful with 2 fridges, main equipment provided. The location in the middle of the golf course was nice whilst having a good amount of shops nearby with a retail park within 5 mins drive. Good location to Saltburn within 5 mins drive. Comfy beds, clean linen & good supply of towels. Powerful shower & nice there were several sitting areas aswell as the main lounge. Negatives were - the Wifi signal was poor which was disappointing and although there is a log burner - no logs are provided. This would have been handy to know beforehand.

Loved the cottage, private and secluded but near to local towns and Whitby. Lovely walk from the cottage to the coast / beach and easily driveable to Saltburn by the Sea, Staithes and Whitby. Spacious cottage and loved having a bathroom each. Would absolutely recommend and already planning our next visit. Thank you

Beautiful location and beautiful cottage Positive: Lovely property in a beautiful location, the owner was lovely and friendly and dropped by to introduced herself and asked if we needed anything. The views as you drive towards the cottage are stunning. I would definitely return if I am ever back in the area.

Really enjoyed our stay here although the property felt like it lacked a bit of love & a cleaner who paid attention to dust & cobwebs in less obvious places. Beds in single room not put together as requested(error from Air BnB communication I think). Kitchen bin had no lid, not sure why this would be deemed acceptable in an open plan kitchen diner?? New bin delivered after seeing owner on day 3. More information about local walks, restaurants etc could be included in the accommodation and old stuff from 2015 chucked out! Water hot & plentiful, but temperature gauge on showers extremely sensitive so you could scald yourself quite easily with only the slightest of adjustments or accidental nudges. Biggest moan was the £10 charge from Host & Stay to pay my deposit against breakages etc - completely excessive & could either pay it or cancel holiday. Not impressed with that!! Despite the not so positive comments, we did have a lovely stay and loved the peace & tranquillity.

Relaxing and enjoyable Positive: The location was great and the building itself was charming, full of quirky furniture and furnishings. Negative: The showers were dangerous because of the boiling hot water which was variable if another tap was used - scalding hot/freezing cold. Too many little steps and changes of level. To be fair, the owner (who was lovely and very friendly and helpful) did warn us about both but it was still a problem. THE WORST EXPERIENCE WAS THE EXTRAVAGENT NUMBER OF EMAILS RECEIVED FROM HOST & STAY - TOTALLY OVER THE TOP AND NOT AT ALL NECESSARY SINCE THEY WERE MOSTLY REPEATING INFORMATION ALREADY SENT. THIS REALLY NEEDS REVIEWING.

Towels were soiled, toilet filthy with excrement on the seat and bowl, bath not clean, sewage smell was foul. A cleaner came to rectify but smell remained

Fantastic country cottage in beautiful surroundings, spacious and comfortable. Good quality beds and furnishings which made it feel a home from home. Hosts were very welcoming and happy to assist. Lots of birds and wildlife around, very peaceful. Good value for money!

Great place to stay. Super clean, great location and everything you need for a quite comfortable and relaxing time. We were met on arrival and were shown around and asked if there was anything else that we needed, if so just to get in touch. A good base for exploring the area. walks, beaches etc. We highly recommend and hope to return in the near future.

Accommodation is ideal for people who like pease and quiet in a rural location .in easy access to ne Positive: Self catering,location was good for us but you need a car as property is remote from shops. But in a very peaceful location. Negative: There was nothing we found to not to be to our liking.
