Fantastic venue for family or friend group. Great open plan accommodation, all bedrooms equally excellent with on-suits. Fab location, by the side of the river, with lovely walks on the doorstep or easy walk into great market town. Communication & cost faultless. Would happily return.

My mom and dad were over the moon, and so were we all, even though we had a whopping 20 hours of rain! (But hey, that wasn’t the host’s doing)

Great accommodation and location for a family gathering. Parking is round the village green so pot luck whether you can get a space although there is a small pay & display car park nearby! Outside areas could have been tidier and more inviting and a mat just inside the door would have been a good idea otherwise all good.

Disappointed Positive: Richmond is lovely and the property is well positioned for the waterfalls and walks into town and surrounding areas. Large living/dining area great for families. Negative: The annexe is accessed via a long pathway from the road, nestled within other properties (details only given 6 hrs prior to arrival). Neighbours pounced on our arrival telling us where we couldn't park, not even allowing us to unload! The property is very staged, although the pictures looked lovely some elements need attention and more detail given to the cleaning and practical elements (especially in the kitchen as no tongs, grill handle, oven gloves and only one tea towel). The outside area was not secure for our dog as others can access for the bins and it's generally unkept (especially the courtyard off one of the bedrooms) Unfortunately this has all been said by others who have stayed but clearly no changes have been made. We feedback to Host & Stay on the first day of arrival, although they were quick to respond and raise a complaint on our behalf as well as offering a 20% discount off our next stay matters were left unresolved.

We had a really good break in Richmond with our two adult children. The property is easy to find, very well located; close to the centre of town, and in a quiet setting. Lounge and bedrooms/beds were very comfy. The owners are very reactive and friendly so it was easy to communicate with them. Outdoor areas weren't very inviting and the kitchen could be better equipped which is essentially why we give it 4 stars. All in all, a good deal for a property of that size and standards.

Lovely house, great location Positive: The layout was quirky and interior design was beautiful. Very spacious and great for a family of 5, with 3 teenagers. Negative: The property itself is lovely. There were a couple of things about this booking which were a bit off putting, nothing serious but given the cost (compared to other similar stays) probably worth mentioning. 1. A deposit is required (I paid in full at the point of booking so wrongly assumed this would be included, but it was a damages deposit (either £10 admin and £250 returned after a week or £25 non returnable). I understand why owners might want to protect their return but this is the first time in over a decade of using booking.com that I’ve had to do this. I would have preferred the £25 to be included in the cost at the point of booking. 2. The picture on the information booklet isn’t the property, which is at the rear. This provided for a confusing arrival. 3. Inside the property was lovely, although the outside/access was surprisingly unkempt (lots apples had fallen from the nearby tree (long rotten) and very overgrown shrubbery. We were just on a short stay so didn’t want to use the outdoor space so it didn’t spoil the trip but if I’d booked for a week this would have bothered me. It’s worth noting that the downstairs bedrooms are noticeably colder than the upstairs rooms.

Very clean big house for a walking group. Well equipped kitchen and great area for communal eating with a games room and 2 reception rooms plenty of sitting places too. Bedrooms large and most with on suite which is very handy. One small problem with he heating was fixed same evening, probably only a problem as first time it has been used in the colder months.

Great house in a good town in a quiet location Positive: There was free parking outside the property which was useful. There was a bit of a walk into town but that meant that it was quiet. Each bedroom had an ensuite which was ideal when travelling with a group of friends. The large living room was very comfortable Negative: There was a faint damp smell in one of the bedrooms as it was slightly below ground. The house was cold downstairs when we arrived despite it being a warm day. The heating was off so it was difficult to dry towels. The towel radiator was cold.

Has you entered the property we were greeted with both bins overflowing and open full bin bags at the side of the bins with soiled nappies showing. Could do with a good clean inside and out.

We could happily live in this spacious, comfortable, warm,stylish property. Positive: Richmond is a charming place to visit. Our party of active 70+ year olds walked extensively - our cars stayed parked from arrival to departure. Be warned - the hills are steep! The property has plenty of bath / shower rooms and everything worked. The communal areas were warm, spacious and furnished comfortably, with the top floor lounge and mezzanine a stand-out feature. The enclosed garden courtyard was equipped to sit out in the sun, too. None of us has mobility problems, so the stairs to everywhere were no problem, but they kept us fit. Access to the property is a little, “The Secret Garden” - a nondescript door in a wall leads to an unpromising peeling space and a slabbed path between other properties - then things get really lovely. In town, the Tourist Information volunteers are friendly and very helpful. “Thomas the Baker” in the square with the obelisk is fabulous for fresh baked goods. Their large Yorkshire curd tart is the equal of anything available in Betty’s (York, Harrogate et al) at half the price. I brought four home as gifts and personal treats to remind me how much we love North Yorkshire. Negative: We felt that although the kitchen was generally good, it wasn’t really equipped for self catering. There were not enough larger pans for a party of 6 adults. There were no serving spoons, no heatproof surface savers & insufficient non-scratching utensils. The property also lacked a toaster( a first for us in rented accommodation) and the bathroom off the kitchen would have been more useful as a utility containing a dishwasher. We really appreciated the attention to fire safety in this multi level house.

Lovely comfortable house in great location, let down by poor service from the company that manage it Positive: The location of the house is great, you can walk (uphill) into Richmond, and there are plenty of places round about in Yorkshire to visit. We were 3 couples and really liked having 3 double bedrooms each with its own bathroom - in fact there is a surfeit of bathrooms, two more in addition to the 3 ensuites! The lounge area and dining table were both comfortable to hang out in. Negative: A property of this size and spec really should have a dishwasher. And if you have to wash up, there should be more than one flimsy t-towel provided for a 5 night stay. Also very disappointed that there was no bedding in the house for the sofa bed, and when we phoned Host and Stay to ask for some we were eventually told that no-ne was in the area to bring it to us (and that only after chasing them several times as they never called back as promised). One person we spoke to said they would refund the cost of a sheet if we went out and bought one, which we actually did - but so no far no sign of a refund, really poor service.

Lovely accommodation close to the town & riverside walks. Ideal for 3 couples plus dogs, plenty of living room space to spread out with large main living room and mezzanine. Every bedroom en-suite, plus 2 more bathrooms. Washing machine, but no dishwasher. We enjoyed a very lovely family Christmas here, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Was good to come together with friends, but disappointed with lack of pans etc Positive: Spacious, everyone had their own bathroom. It was quiet and peaceful Negative: The kitchen cupboards and handles very dirty! The pans particularly the frying pan need replacing with better quality and bigger pans. We go away as a group every year and do a Christmas dinner, this was not possible here as there’s no roasting tins, Yorkshire pudding trays, pans big enough to cook for 6 people, very disappointing! Also I haven’t got my £250 deposit back yet, it was taken more than a week before our stay!

Lovely spacious property for all the family to come together and catch up with each other. Three en-suite bedrooms and a large living area. Location was good for walks and access to town.

Great location, I'm familiar with Richmond, as I grew up there, but it was a great space for the family to reconnect and meet up. The communal areas were great, really lovely and spacious, enough room for us to sit and eat dinner, and the kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The rooms were nicely decorated and beds really cosy. Some minor feedback is: the place needed a good airing and the heating putting on when we arrived, as the lower bedroom in the basement smelled a bit mildewy. The drains in a couple bathrooms smelled even after flushing water through, and that bathrooms are a bit tired and need a refresh, the paint quite badly peeling off the towel heaters, and some things needed a little update and resealing. Also could have done with an outdoor brush just to move the fallen fruit in the yard so we weren't stepping on it in the dark! Other than that though, great space, we had a lovely family weekend here!

We had a lovely stay in the Annexe. The bedrooms were deliciously cool despite the high temperatures outside. Each room was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely touches. The kitchen, dining and lounge areas were a great size, plenty of room for everyone. The Annexe is on the edge of Richmond at the bottom of the hill from the main square. But we’ll within walking distance. Indeed there are some lovely walks you can do right on the doorstep. Thank you for such a beautiful place to have a reunion with old friends.

Loved Richmond and surrounding areas , house was brilliant , some small adjustments could make it even better Positive: Property was superb and well equipped with everything you need for a holiday Negative: Court yard area could be nicer and walk in path is unlit and not flat , bins situation on walk in path isn’t good as your sharing with the other house and fills up quickly, looked like it hadn’t been emptied for what looked like a few weeks and was very smelly and attracted wasps and flys to the area which we had to walk past every day in and out the property several times , bottom stairs were difficult for elderly parents we travelled with as they didn’t have a banister or hand rail resulting in myself to go up or down with them every time to help .

The Annexe fitted our 3 generations needs perfectly; spacious rooms and lovely open living space + plenty of bathrooms! A few niggles which could be addressed; The entrance yard door is hard to find...There are no full directions and the unhelpful photo only shows the Associate house front. I was already upset because I had been emailed yet again to 'verify' - which means adding extra insurance, which I had already done and I hadn't received key safe number and it was dark. Secondly, the 'patio' area was dirty and untidy...dead leaves and rotten apples everywhere. Not a good first impression for an otherwise fabulous property. Third; there is nowhere to put bathroom 'cosmetics' etc. A shelf or small unit required. 3rd party Company hosting, although courteous, was frustrating: Illogically, my name was registered as INITIAL + Surname, rather than full first name + surname, and could not be found initially: Tech needs to be amended.

This is a beautiful property spacious and well appointed. We had no problem parking two cars for free on the road out front There were 6 of us and we did run out of hot water for showering but there was a booster button by the tank and within 15 mins the water was hot again. The courtyard does not get much sunshine so would be cold out of season but we found it a pleasant area to sit in and is fully secure for dogs if you take one It’s situated at the bottom of a very steep hill so a walk to the town center where everything you need such as shops restaurants etc is strenuous. No good if you are not fully mobile. We would stay here again

Beautiful location, beautiful home. I never felt so safe and was able to sleep peacefully, dog friendly as well which our dogs enjoyed 100% never seen them so tired out from excitement 😂 10/10 definitely recommend

Positive: Great main living room space, plenty of room for us all and nicely decorated. Negative: Please include a clear description on how to access the property (enter a side entrance and navigate steps and short walk way) and that there are steps to access the living room upstairs would have been helpful due to mobility considerations for our group. The bedrooms are on the bottom floors. The photo on the site is not the property you are staying in.

Beautiful comfortable cottage and very spacious. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed every moment of our stay - even walking up the steep hills to the centre of Richmond. Would be difficult for anybody with poor mobility though and this should be mentioned. On the downside the passage way leading to the courtyard outside the cottage needs a lot of TLC. The passageway is very dark and needs lighting for nighttime. Also, the courtyard needs clearing of overgrown shrubbery and weeds. Because of this it wouldn't have been pleasant to sit outside.

The house is located in a very scenic location, within easy walking distance of the River Swale footpath, suitable for an infant pushchair. There is suitable free parking around The Green and also a public car park 50 yards away, £5.90 per day. The centre of Richmond is within a six minute walk, uphill all the way, but well worth the effort. Plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and interesting shops. The house has comfortable bedding, furniture and an excellent open space communal area, as shown within the Host and Stay website.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Airbnb in Richmond. The home is truly gorgeous — beautifully presented, warm, and incredibly cosy. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The location is perfect, with everything you need right on your doorstep. One of the highlights was being so close to the river — we enjoyed a lovely scenic walk along the water all the way to the waterfalls. It made the stay even more special. Everything about this place was just right, and we couldn’t have asked for more. 100% recommend — we would happily stay again!

Lovely location in Richmond, worked well for us having a wedding at Middleton Lodge. Very spacious and had everything you could possibly need!

Really good value for money. Perfect location, hosts very good and clear communication. However only downside is the downstairs room does smell of strong damp. Saw some reviews saying that it was fixed but can still smell it. But overall lovely place and stay.

Fantastic upside down house with amazing lounge area. Parking for us was easily found right outside (probably as we visited low season). We felt the washing machine would be better replaced with a dishwasher but otherwise a great kitchen space. More bathrooms than specified, each bedroom is already ensuite. Beds very comfy. Hangers were very limited although there is drawer space. We struggled to find the way in but one of the neighbours pointed us in the right direction as the entrance is tucked around the corner and it is a little difficult to negotiate in the dark, have your phone/torch ready in the winter months. We visited as 3 couples and thought it'd be helpful to have more than one set of keys so that we didn't have to stick together. All in all, a great house in a good location and one we'd happily come back to.

Beautiful property and as per the photos. Ideally situated in Richmond and close to all local amenities and beautiful countryside and the River Swale for fishing! Property was lovely, beds super comfortable, living and dining area was exceptional, the weather wasn’t good enough for outside dining, but the secluded courtyard garden was great! Minor critique and not a game changer, but could have done with an additional set of keys as had to coincide with other family members plans. Also, a brief guide on central heating which came on full blast twice daily- great for the winter months, but not summer! Parking locally was at a premium on some days, but downloaded the MyRingo app for the public car park next door, so not an issue. Overall, a fantastic, relaxing week in a lovely property-and I look forward to returning in the future. Thank you.😊

Lovely house

Good, if you are staying in a big group. Very spacious, loads of showers, baths, toilets so there isn’t a que in the morning or ever. We were visiting for a Pass Off Parade, so was in an ideal location being close to Catterick. Lovely walks nearby, very close to the river and town. People with mobility issues may struggle with this property due to there being steep stairs within the property, although in small clusters. My nan had a fall resulting in an A&E trip so best to keep an eye on the less mobile. The property could do with some maintenance in the garden and the small outer area in the middle bedroom. The middle bedroom needs a new bed due to it being broken prior to us even arriving, not ideal to sleep on whilst you’re heavily pregnant. The bannisters are wobbly, there is a hole in the garden fence leading into next doors garden and a hole in the wall leading out onto a small carpark so if you are taking dogs with you take the time to ensure the garden is fully secure…

Ok Positive: The location is excellent, the space in the property is excellent Negative: The property is tired but you expect it with rentals, However it wasn’t as clean as you would expect, had to give the kitchen a clean when we arrived, front door could do with replacing - almost like an internal door- doesn’t feel very secure

The place was decorated so well and was just what we needed. Location was great and it wasn’t unclean. The bedrooms are on the bottom floor and the kitchen/ dining area/ living room is upstairs. Thanks for the stay!

I would like to start by saying that the house itself and the location within a beautiful town are excellent. That said, the attention to detail we have come to expect from all other Airbnb’s we have stayed at was sadly missing. Cleaning was poor, the yard had fallen apple and pear trip hazards all over the place, outside lighting was non existent, missing utensils in the kitchen, trouble locking the door from the inside, overflowing shared bins, 2 broken chairs in the dining area, one of the bedroom blinds broken and left lying on the floor, one of the beds had a big lump in the middle, dust and cobwebs clearly visible. Parking outside not very good but there is a car park 100 yards away that costs £20 for a week so we just done that rather than annoy the neighbours. It would be better to mention this on the advert so that people are aware. As I said at the start, the house and location are excellent but with new cleaners and a bit more attention to detail it could be so much more.

Wonderful location and great property with lots of space and 3 en-suites. We were disappointed in the cleanliness - although bedding and towels were perfect. Also first property we have ever stayed in with no dishwasher!!!! Ready for some TLC in lots of areas but especially the outside which is dark, damp and VERY overgrown

In a nutshell the place is not as advertised in the photos . The place is extremely grubby and needs a deep clean . We could not check in on time as the cleaner was in . I have raised a formal complaint with Host and Stay and Air B&B requesting a refund . I was told it would take 7-10 working days and still have not had communication or received a full refund . On a positive it’s a lovely location , with the right care and oversight of the place it could be lovely .

Stunning place. Would love to move in!!!! Our only qualm was the fact that there were so many cobwebs and much dust around. Prime areas were clean but the cleaner needs sacking!! Beds are comfy. All amenities are great. Would happily stay again.

This place was ideal for us. There was plenty of space for 6 adults. The house was very well equipped with some lovely touches, such as the lovely shower gels and tea/coffee. It was very clean and the beds were comfy. The living area is great for eating, drinking and socialising. The location is very quiet. There are some lovely walks along the river and there are plenty of places to eat in the town. The host was quick to respond to any messages or questions. It wasn’t a problem for us, but the walk into town is up a steep hill, which may affect people with mobility issues.

The property was beautiful, beds were very comfortable and the location of the place was perfect for getting into town or the river swale walk!

Positive: The annexe was very comfortable plenty of facilities, my elderly parents found the stairs to the upper floor difficult as no rail. The rooms were very clean but the beams and sky lights were covered in dust and cobwebs.

Very disappointing and over priced Positive: The space was good. The number of bathrooms was good Negative: The approach to the property was dangerous, smelly rat infested, very slippy, and neglected. Trying to walk past mountains of rubbish down a long dark walkway to the front door isn't good at all. Fallen apples everywhere were very dangerous. The pots and pans were dirty, the oven was disgusting, and no christmas decorations.

Great place and location.

Grotty House, Awful Host You enter the property though an out-house at the end of a path. There’s no working outside light so, if you arrive late or like to go out on an evening take a torch. When we arrived, the bins were overflowing, and bags of rubbish had been piled up along the path. The outside area doesn’t get cleaned or maintained so, if you like al fresco dining you need a stiff brush and bucket of soapy water to clean away all the rotting fruit, leaves and debris. The inside of the property doesn’t look like it’s been touched for 5-10 years. It’s Grotty! The walls and furnishings are dirty and needed repairs have been bodged. Do not go by the description or photos online. When we arrive the master bedroom had been flooded, the carpet was still squelchy, the room stuck of damp, and couldn’t be used. In the second bedroom the en-suite toilet wouldn’t flush and in the third bedroom en-suite, the tiles were covered in squashed dead flies, the broken bath taps had been repaired with a rusty bolt and the radiator looked like it had been salvaged from the Titanic which stained the towels orange with rush. The thermostats on the radiators were either broken or missing so, you can’t control the temperature in the bedrooms. The heating is either on or off everywhere. And for some reason all the lightbulbs had been removed from the bedside lamps. The kitchen surfaces looked clean, but it also looked like all the crumbs and dirt from the surfaces had just been swept into the cutlery draw. Cutlery an

Excellent location for 6 people. Positive: Location was excellent for walks into town and the riverside walk. Bedrooms were good and the beds were comfortable. Very good for 6 people to stay in comfort. Negative: The only real comment was the lack of a dishwasher in the kitchen.

A beautiful place to stay in Richmond at the bottom of the hill by the river. Easy to park on the street outside too.

We had lots of great communication before checking in, and the process was easy with the key box. A lovely little walk through the paved garden led to The Annex. The bedrooms were all en suite and were of a good size. Nice bed linen and toiletries provided. The kitchen was well equipped and was a good size. The dining snd lunge areas were relaxing and comfortable with lots of nice little touches. Smart tv and WiFi were both good. All in all a great place to stay and we would return.

Very disappointing! Positive: Living room was nice and comfortable as was upstairs snug. Location was good - nice walk into the centre of town. Negative: Quite a lot - downstairs of property, where 3 bedrooms and ensuites were, smelled damp. The smell was overpowering and horrible. Property needed a good clean, lots of cobwebs and spiders. No dishwasher and kitchen was not well equipped. Outside courtyard was not welcoming, very overgrown. The advertised picture shows a neighbouring property. I would not recommend this property.

The house was true to the photographs. Overall a lovely property that has been tastefully decorated. Loads of space with 3 double bedrooms. It was great that all bedrooms were en-suite, 2 of them with baths. There is also another bathroom off the kitchen and a further WC at the top of the house! The kitchen had everything we needed and we appreciated the tea, coffee, milk and sugar all individually wrapped for hygiene. The living dining room was very comfortable. The location was very quiet and only a short walk to the market place. However the walk is up a very steep hill which some may struggle with. We were aware of this as we know Richmond well so this is not a criticism just something to note. My only issue was with the downstairs bedroom which smelled very damp when we entered the property. We opened the windows and it did improve a bit but really was not very pleasant. On street parking was very busy.

Very disappointed with this house. Overflowing bins, garden full of weeds, dirty outside furniture, very grubby kitchen and bathrooms, dirty crockery and cutlery.This property has not had a proper clean in months and I feel it has not been properly maintained either. Host and Stay are not based in the UK and have still not responded to my issues and it is now two weeks since we stayed in the property. In my opinion it should not be rented out until these issues have been resolved.

Such a great location - even whilst making a cuppa you can see the castle! Definitely one of the best castles in UK but loads of other places to visit in the vicinity. Had some great meals in several restaurants/pubs. Steep-ish walk up the hill to the marketplace - I recommend you take the little alleyways to the side rather than straight up the road - but quite a short distance and a photo opportunity at every turn. Will be back!

We enjoyed our stay at the Annexe. It was a quiet location. Not great for those less mobile guests as property does have a lot of stairs and it is a steep walk up to the village.

Spacious - plenty of room for the six of us. Very peaceful location but within a short walk of restaurants, pubs and shops. Very comfy beds, loads of hot water.

Great location for exploring Richmond, lovely house. We didn’t fully read the accomadation info and missed the deposit/damage insurance required which came at an additional cost.

Really well located for visiting Richmond & surrounding areas. Parking on the green is a bit limited but the car park is large & just yards from the property & being a little out of the main part of town, felt like a safe place to leave the car. The property is as lovely as it looks in the photos, the kitchen & living space which are upstairs, are especially nice and very well equipped. Everything was spotless on arrival.

Fantastic location close to the centre with lovely walks nearby. Property is nicely decorated with good sized bedrooms but overall letdown by the cleanliness.

Difficult to find the property had to ring to find where it was but the location was great and very private On street parking was very good too The furniture and fitting very nice and rooms were spacious One minor we thought the property was great but a bit expensive compared to other places we have stopped in

We had a wonderful stay at this property. Instructions for our arrival were clear and easy to follow, the property was clean and in perfect condition for our arrival. The location was brilliant with easy walking or driving distance into the town. Parking for this property is available around the green or paid parking is provided too. We hope to stay again soon.
