The house was in a good location easy to walk into Whitby. Our stay was a family long weekend away together . It was good having the kitchen and lounge area together. The facilities were excellent if you needed to cook wash clean up everything was provided. Each couple had a good comfortable bedroom…2 bathrooms..one bath with shower and a walk in shower. A children’s room looked very inviting even a few toys and books and games. The house was warm cosy and inviting a lovely time was had by everyone. Coop near by if needed not too far to park a third car.

Large, three story, spacious house to share with family or friends. Positive: The house is in a great location. All rooms and areas of the house are spacious. All the facilities you could need. Negative: A small error on the part of the cleaner in the kitchen area.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the house was clean and comfortable, lots of space. Loved the chalk board for the kids, kept them entertained. I think it would be good for the owners to show pictures of the back and front yard for guests with dogs just so they know what outdoor space they have for their pet. The only negative feedback would be that the black bin outside was completely full when we arrived on the Monday and we had 4 nights there. I did contact Host and Stay who responded quickly and said they would contact the owner but unfortunately that was the last we heard, we have to make do with a full bin all week, this wasn’t ideal with having a dog with us and the weather being warm. Other than that everything else was fine and we loved our stay

Our family of 7 had a wonderful 5 days in Whitby and The Alby was a perfect base. The kids loved the toy room and the ch Positive: Great location, close to all the amenities and facilities that Whitby has to offer. Well equipped property and well maintained with plenty of space for 7 people. Negative: Only slight bit of criticism is that the bed and mattress were not very comfortable. The bed felt a bit flimsy/ creaky and the mattress had a dip in it. Maybe just that it is not what I am used to but it wouldn’t put me off rebooking.

Lovely accommodation, great location. Host were very helpful and friendly. Couldn’t get the middle level front door to unlock, had to go down the steps to the lower level, this was quite awkward with the kids and the luggage as the steps were steep and uneven. The house itself was clean and tidy and close to the harbour. Would definitely recommend to others.

Great accommodation for 2 families to get together. The kitchen is really well equipped and we were able to do a full roast dinner. Everyone said how well they slept, there was constant hot water and the house heated quickly when it went chilly. Within easy walking distance of Whitby. Approachable host who responded quickly to queries. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Lovely house, great location with parking Positive: We have stayed at The Alby before and loved it, but the renovations have made the space work much better and we loved it even more. Superb location, just a few minutes walk into Whitby town (the walk back is up a very steep hill). Two parking spaces, well stocked kitchen although an extra tea towel would have been appreciated if I'm being super nit picky! Kids loved the bunk room with the little toy kitchen and games. A lovely, cosy stay. We hope to stay again in the future.

We stayed for a long weekend, there was 4 couples, 2 children, a baby and a pooch and we had a perfect family vacation. the location, layout and style of the home was fab and Dale was a great host from first enquiry to checkout. location wise we were just a 5-10 minute stroll to Whitby centre - would deffo recommend and would definitely stay again - amazing value for money thank you :)

We loved our stay Positive: We had a great stay at The Alby. It is a very comfortable, clean and well presented property, only a 5 minute walk from Whitby centre. We really liked the little extras well thought out by the owners for example a toy box packed full of toys and a cupboard full of games which were a life saver as we did not have much packed in terms of entertainment for the little ones. Communication with host and stay was excellent, queries were answered within a matter of minutes. I would definitely recommend staying here. Negative: The mattresses were too soft for us but this is personal preference and we are used to a very firm mattress at home.

Fantastic place, perfect location for a large family to enjoy Whitby. Brilliant communication and exactly as advertised. We would definitely stay again!

GREAT LOCATION IN A GREAT HOLIDAY TOWN ITS JUST ALL THE SMALL ISSUES SADLY LET THE PROPERTY DOWN Positive: FAMILY WEEK AWAY 5 ADULTS 3 KIDS PROPERTY LARGE ENOUGH FOR ALL OF US. GREAT LOCATION SHORT WALK DOWN TO THE TOWN CENTRE Negative: THE PROPERTY FELT TIRED THE FRONT GARDEN OVER GROWN, THE CARPETS A BIT STAINED THE STAIR CASE DAMAGED, THE SECOND BEDROOM THE BED WAS LEANING OVER BECAUSE THE LEGS WERE DAMAGED, THE CUPBOARD UNDER LIGHTS IN THE KITCHEN NOT WORKING, THE MAIN OVEN ON THE COOKER NOT WORKING. IT SEEMED A LOT OF SMALL THINGS THAT TOGETHER LET THE PROPERTY DOWN AND LEFT IT FEELING "TIRED"

Whitby property Family break with grandchildren

Great place for groups and families. The house was clean, tidy and well equipped. Easy walk into town and very close to station and supermarket.

Great stay Positive: Great location, 10 minute walk into central Whitby although down/up a steep hill so could be difficult for people with mobility issues. House was clean and cosy, had loads of cutlery, glasses, dishes etc including kids plastic plates and beakers . Having 2 parking spaces was great but it was snug for 2 biggish cars. Some kids toys in the bedroom which they absolutely loved to play with. Negative: Couldn't find instructions how to use the cooker, we managed but an idiots guide would have been helpful! The fridge was barely cold but eventually cooled down after we changed the settings. One of the mattresses on one of the double beds wasn't great, had sort of dropped on one side. These are little niggles but overall we loved our stay and would definitely go back again.

Great stay for a few days over half term. Excellent location, off and on street parking. Property had everything we needed for a great stay.

We stayed here for new year, Whitby is one of our family favourites. Nice spot for Whitby, and also good for parking two Positive: Space for two small cars. Location Negative: Kitchen was dirty, toast crumbs on working surface and toaster. Dishwasher not working. Was not informed about this. Radiator in lounge not working, so lounge was cold, no other form of heating in lounge. Stains carpet. Could do with a through clean inside and out.

Excellent all round and will definitely stay there again with the family Positive: Very clean and provided everything we needed. Plenty of space and things for children to do. Negative: Only one complaint which was the dog poo bags left on the front path.

Lovely home close to town amenities. Unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to adverse weather (woukd have been snowed in as the property is on a steep hill) but otherwise cannot fault. Clean, spacious, cosy, lovely that childrens toys were in bedroom and hot water on tap.\n\nOnly comment would be a positive one that from description it sounds like there is only one shower but there is one over the bath in the main bathroom as well as the ensuite which is helpful when 8 of us to get ready!\n\nWe struggled to get the lock box open to get access but think this was likely as it was -4 and frozen shut.\n\nLovely stay would stay again. Location is very central and the 3 story Accomodation has 2 bedrooms on 2 levels which allows for privacy but access to en-suite or bathroom. Loved the decor and felt just like home We had 7 stay but easily would fit another 3 in Appreciated the coffee pods and used the umbrella Had a lovely stay thank you

Positive: There were plenty of bed options,although would have preferred a super king bed but understand space is an issue. Negative: An extra bathroom to service 10 guests would have been better, although there were only 6 adults & 2 children it was still an issue. The table in the living room took too much space. An option would be to remove the breakfast bar & the cupboards (which hardly had anything in them) along that wall in the kitchen. The table could then go in the kitchen. Another sofa in the living room would then be ideal. There didn't seem enough room for 6 adults to chill in the living room.

Had a fabulous weekend, everything perfect for a group of ten. Will definitely be booking again. Thank you ☺️

Lovely home in a great location. Perfect fit for 11 of us.

The house is lovely and very convenient for amenities and coast. However the dish washer was broken and the bath leaked into the kitchen, the beds were uncomfortable. My biggest complaint is the lack of care when reporting this, there was no local agent so it was someone on the phone miles away and all they could say was have you another bathroom, not sorry or how can we help. So we had one shower for 9 people for 5 days!

Lovely house in a great location . Good value for money and generally good facilities. We were a group of 9 and struggled to fit around the table to eat together ( not enough chairs or cutlery)

We were a large extended family of 9 and was perfect for our needs! The house was perfectly situated to be able to get easily around without needing to drive! The kitchen and social areas were great for shared mealtimes and spending evening time together! The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfy! Very minor issues in that the access to the building was a bit of a struggle for elderly parents as there are uneven steps to the door! Also would have been better to have an extra bathroom, as it was one en-suite and the rest of the house shared another, but we made it work and didn’t cause any issues to our stay. Would absolutely recommend to others who are away with family groups, and would book again!!

This house was absolutely perfect for our two families. We instantly felt right at home, and the space was fantastic for both the adults and the kids to hang out together. The location felt very safe and was super convenient for everything we wanted to do. It was close enough that the teens could head back early for some sofa time and Netflix, while the parents were able to enjoy a couple of local beers without a worry. The house was clean and truly made our trip so much easier. We highly recommend this Host & Stay’s listing!

Lovely house Positive: The house was lovely bit hard to find when parking needs a sign or something so you know your in the right place .Expexted the key box to be in the courtyard as it was slippery and dark coming down the garden steps . Negative: The postition was great walked into whitby downhill but got taxi back as uphill was a struggle with two of our party with walking disabitities. It would have been nice to have some milk and some bread or pastries .Ive stayed in houses before where we had a few nice touches such as milk croissants and pastries .

Positive: Close to Whitby Station. The problems that we had were resolved quickly. Negative: With a tripled room rate due to the goth festival, a non returnable cleaning fee of £150, and a non negotiable damage fee with a charge of £12, I expected better. Looks like they didn't even vacuum. I get the impression they do not check the property between guests, as the main kitchen light was flashing uncontrollably, which was terrifying as one of our party was epileptic. They had no idea about this obviously. Did fine, but for all the money they kept trying to take, absolute joke.

we were a family of 9 having a reunion in Whitby to reminisce where our parents lived in retirement. the house was perfect for 9 adults, the location is perfect so no need for a car once there. We'll equipped and ideal for our needs

The host was extremely kind and caring the whole way through. Had a fantastic birthday here and would deffo stay here again!!!!

Great weekend stay for 5 lads going fishing, parking, near to harbour and nicely presented Positive: Pictures of property and directions helped with locating the property in the narrow streets of Whitby. The parking for up to 2 cars was a real bonus too. Only a 5 minute walk to the Harbour, station and town centre. Plenty of space real value for money. Will definitely stay again should we be in the area, no question. Negative: Nit picking to find fault really. The cleaning of the fridge had been over looked but moving forward this is going to be addressed. Another small niggle were the 2 ceiling fans in the kitchen and lounge right beneath the ground floor bedrooms. They were quite noisy, but I understand, with an older property you need to keep moisture at bay. There was no way to isolate at them night from what we could see without turning off the main fuse for the downstairs lighting. But overall a very nicely kept spacious property right in town.

Positive: So much space! When you share with so many in one house, you might worry about getting in each other's way but not a problem here with the 3 floors and large rooms.

The house was amazing - clean, fully equipped, and walking distance to Whitby. Owners are quick to reply and gave lots of information. Parking is limited at the house and around the area as the roads are narrow. Other than that a great place. Loved it.

Before staying at this property, we came across a review that didn’t fill us with hope… but honestly… we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Whitby. The property was fantastic and perfect for the 10 of us (7 adults, 3 children, no pets). The place had signs of living, but nothing you wouldn’t expect. The review was so harsh and really misleading. I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Whitby. Booked for my Dad’s 70th and he loved it. There is a slight hill to climb to the property, but it’s worth it for how close you are to the centre. A Taxi is only £5 as well from the centre. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. 5 stars! If you’re thinking about it, book it! *****

Fantastic property for a short break when you have a larger group of people. Positive: A great space for several families to come together. It has 2 parking spaces and the bedrooms are a good size. Negative: A little on the expensive side, for what it is, but that could be said for many properties these days due to the costs of upkeep.

Positive: Very confortable, everything you would need Negative: Not a complaint but the bins hadn't been emptied.

This house has the potential to be lovely, but to say it needs some work is possibly an understatement. The house was exactly like the photos, but a lot more battered and bruised. We found a dirty nappy under a bed, the oven heated extremely slow (and smoked the house out), the toaster was broke, there was damp on the wall downstairs, the bathrooms were mouldy and dirty and there were floorboards that felt like they were rotten away and would collapse any moment. Parking for 2 cars but the spaces are very tight. Location is good, but quite a steep walk to/from Whitby town. Plates and glasses were dirty and needed washing. There was a mouldy pizza tray in the cupboard.

Excellent break in Whitby. The accommodation did not disappoint! Everything was as expected. Positive: Spacious, clean and very comfortable. Negative: Nothing really!

Was a lovely place to stay while visiting family Positive: Very spacious, good rooms, family friendly (other than the stairs - not their fault and used the back door with the prams just put travel cots to block the stairs on top floor) lots of toys and games for children - had travel cots & highchair even tho booking.com said they didn’t Negative: Downstairs flooring was very hard

Very enjoyable Positive: Very good property for family stay, location ideal for local amenities, parking available which is a bonus Negative: A few decoration issues such as flaking paint, dent in wall of bedroom. Had issues with wifi on arrival and although hostnstay gave guidance on how to resolve it would have been nice to know location of router which they requested we reset, had to hunt through rooms to locate it

Great location only a short walk into the centre of town. 2 parking spaces at the front which were great, property had everything we needed, bonus having a few double beds at the property.

We have just had the most beautiful stay at The Alby in Whitby! This house is in the perfect location, close to town and easily accessible. It had everything we needed for our weekend away and was perfect! We will 100% be returning. Thank you again xx

A very convenient place to explore whitby

Positive: Walking distance to the centre of whitby. Spacious. Kitchen well equipped (some items of poor quality though) Negative: Wasn't cleaned well, needs a thorough deep clean but even basic day to day cleaning wasn't done well. Toilet not cleaned properly, bath not cleaned well, fridge dirty. White socks didn't stay white after walking on kitchen /living room floor . Beds clean but duvet covers marked on 2 beds Oven didn't work!! 2 light bulbs didn't work Carpets and paint work tired. No effort put in to looking after the property.

A well equipped house in a good location. Positive: The location Negative: The crockery and oven trays weren’t very clean. Also could have done with another toilet.

Negative: Think some of the carpets particularly in the bedrooms could be changed as they are getting worn out and dirty.

Lovely place

Positive: Fab location, well equipped and comfy beds, host left essentials in the property which was a great thought, will definately stay again. Negative: The only problem was the noise from the fan constantly going in the lounge which disturbed sleep in bedroom directly above 😴😕

Had a lovely stay this weekend . A lot of homeowners close by carrying renovations out. Just woke us early but can’t be helped. House great, abit tight in the living room if more than 6 people The fridge would be better in the kitchen. No other complaints Clean, good location, owners very helpful.
