ok up to a point Positive: the location, good parking, close to shops, pubs and cafes Negative: there is no safety rail to get in and out of the bath to use the shower, so during my 3 night stay i was unable to use the shower. there were only sachets of milk provided, nothing else, no welcome pack. the bed was too firm for me, a mattress topper would be welcome

Lovely cottage finished to a high standard. Arrived an hour early but wasn’t allowed to check in till time stated. So waited outside till the hour were up. Property all on one floor as didn’t want stairs. Unfortunately there were 2steep steps to the garden or patio, I wasn’t aware of this when I booked. Steps needs hand rails of which the host assured me it will be done shortly. Such a great location just 3 mins walk to the local pub. The Buck is a great pub but unfortunately found the New Inn staff rather rude. There is a great restaurant brandysnap which is a stone throw away. Beds were comfy singles pushed together so had a line down the middle if you were wanting a double. Would definitely stay again if the hand rails were on the steps to garden. Had amazing meal at the willow gate bistro in Pickering. It’s a real treat to dine there.

An enjoyable couple of days. Positive: The location suited us perfectly. Negative: We were generally very pleased with the whole property and facilities. However, my husband is disabled, and while the property overall was very accessible there is one point I would like to make--- Many disabled people find it very difficult to sit on low (and low backed ) chairs . May I make a suggestion? Could a higher backed chair be made available for such clients. It would have made the visit so much more comfortable.

Short stay - Christmas 2025 Positive: The cottage has everything you need for a short stay. Fully equipped kitchen including a washer. Comfortable, warm and cosy. Located centrally in the beautiful village of Thornton Le Dale. Negative: Nothing

The property was immaculate and very well equipped. There was a nice touch of a lit Christmas Tree in the property which gave it a welcoming feel. Perfect location in the heart of a very pretty village. We will certainly book again.

Very comfortable Positive: Good location in a very pretty village. Everything you need in the kitchen. Washing machine and outside extendable clothesline with indoor clothes drying rack if it is raining. No dryer. Comfortable lounge and shower over deep bath was okay. Negative: 2 bedrooms were small and we slept in separate rooms for our own comfort. Our choice as 1 of us is over 6 foot and the bed wasnt large. There was TOO many glasses and cups in the kitchen cupboards for an apartment that accommodates Max 4 people comfortably that there was not much space to store groceries. Staple items in these apartments should be salt.and pepper and sugar shower gel and toilet paper. We were there 4 nights out of 7 weeks travelling and felt we shouldn't have buy those items each time we.stay in a new place. Just a minor thing but compared to other apartments that provided those things plus a welcome pack was noticeable.

Would definitely stay again and recommend but they do need to take heed from above. Positive: In the centre of the village and easy to get around from this location to different places. The property was very clean and well presented. Negative: We were there for 5 days but they only left 1 toilet roll for 3 people. They only left 2 dishwasher tablets. There should have been at least 5 tablets, which would have been 1 for each day surely. They need a big mirror somewhere in the property for you to be able to do your hair, check clothes etc as only 1 very small mirror on cupboard in each room.

The cottage is new and well kept. Clean, comfy beds and sofa to relax on after a long day of hiking. Reasonably well equipped, could add a bigger deep pan and sharpen the knives but these are only minor things. the location is great, just a few yards away from a lovely pub with a beer garden. Excellent host, responded very quickly. Would stay there again.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful village Positive: The cottage is new, with a lovely courtyard garden that allowed you to have breakfast in the morning sun and even your evening meal bathed in sunlight. The village is beautiful and the perfect location for 'Bangers and Cash' fans. Was a great base to explore just some of the things Yorkshire has to offer, such as Castle Howard, Whitby, steam railways, hiking, etc etc. Negative: cannot think of anything.

Sunny Dale Cottage, a beautiful little sanctuary 🥰 Positive: Sunny Dale Cottage is a beautiful little home from home. Absolutely spotless and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Beds are very comfy with crisp clean bedding. It has a bistro set out back and a couple of loungers which is fab as this is a little suntrap! We enjoyed sitting out taking in the last bit of sun after our day exploring. It’s located in a quiet spot off tucked away, your own little sanctuary 🥰 There is a bakery close by with its own cafe which has a fantastic menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner also a great choice of cakes and sweet treats. Next door up from the bakery is the beer garden for The Buck, local pub, again the beer garden is lovely to sit and enjoy the sunshine whilst having a refreshment, they also serve pub meals however I personally felt they were overpriced for what you got. All in all I would recommend Sunny Dale Cottage and I will most certainly be back there myself, absolutely loved it! 🥰 Negative: The only thing I would have liked was a full length mirror in the property however this is just a personal thing and by no means did this affect my stay 🥰

Clean, well equipped kitchen , good shower and comfortable beds. Looked like photos. Lovely pub, the buck, around the corner and we went to the fox and rabbit for Sunday dinner which is around 5 min drive away. Good basic accommodation base to visit local area.

Great little place to stay for New Years! Me my wife and 2 kids loved Thornton Dale. It was a lovely little village with pubs, shops takeaways all in a walkable location. We had a lovely snowy walk by the river which was super nice.\n\nWe visited Whitby and Scarborough whilst we were there which were both a 30 minute drive. It snowed when we was there too which made it extra special. \n\nHost and stay were really good, communication was quick and helpful when needeed.

We had a great stay at Sunny Dale Cottage. Thank you Positive: Lovely clean cottage, in a perfect location with everything you need on the doorstep. Negative: Just a shame the garden wasn't full enclosed with a fence to make it secure as we had a toddler who wanted to escape! Also there is a bit of a drop off the edge of the garden which wasn't really clear on the pictures on the website. This could be a little dangerous with a small child and we felt we couldn't relax. We will definitely revisit in a few years when our little girl is a little older! Maybe a few more tea towels as we were only provided one.

The stay was lovely and the home itself was amazing. The only minor downside was the requirement to pay for insurance or transfer money to a third party I had not dealt with before. It would have felt more reassuring if this had been managed directly through Airbnb, as I understand they have policies in place for this kind of situation. Having to send money to an unfamiliar company did feel slightly uncomfortable. That said, this was only a small issue. The cottage itself is fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Positive: Perfect location for what we wanted to do. Having a parking space was also an advantage as Thornton Le Dale was busy. We would have sat in the garden had it been warmer. Negative: If you are going to cook remember to bring condiments and if needed cooking oil.

Okayish Positive: Nice layout and facilities. Lovely area. Parking. Negative: Dust on drencher shower and skirting boards, cobwebs, toaster not cleaned. Bath drained very slowly. Main television reception was very temperamental. Communication between host and house keeping meant cleaner arrived after we had been there one night, ( had early arrival ) and still took all photos to prove cleaning had been done with all our belongings there.

Just to let you know the coffee machine does not work! Otherwise all was good. Comfortable beds. Warm house. Had a problem finding the cottage in the dark

Lovely little cottage perfect for what we needed. Host was very quick to respond. Wifi didnt really work whilst we were there, not a huge issue for us as we didnt really need it. Was slightly annoying that on the property description (removed now) it said EV charging was available, but we got told during the stay to un-plug our car as this was not allowed. This was one of the reasons we booked this property. Had a slight problem sorting the extra night we had booked but eventually after ringing the host we managed to sort. All in all nice house and would probably stop again.

This was a great place to stay for the weekend. Whilst you are close to local towns you are tucked away from the hustle and bustle. It’s close to lots of lovely little shops. Very lovely stay!

The cottage was spacious, warm, nice and tidy. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was located in a lovely village with nice little shops and restaurants. Good access to the stations for the steam train journey. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable. Positive: Great location & excellent facilities. Negative: Central heating was quite overwhelming at first but by turning down the thermostats & opening windows we managed well. Heated towel rail in bathroom didn't work but no big deal.

The cottage was immaculate, within walking distance of local shops and all places for visiting surrounding areas. We had everything we needed for a peaceful long weekend. Host & Stay sent us recommendations of places to visit and of local restaurants. We would definitely come back

Great village location, ideal to get to other places from. Positive: Great Central location. Your own car parking space. Quiet at night. Clean and tidy. Nice garden area. Easy to get to other places. Negative: Could be more personal, for example a welcome pack, not just online. Local pictures up, a sideboard under the T.V with board games, maps, local info. It felt overly neutral.

Thornton le Dale is beautiful and well worth a visit. Positive: Location and parking. Quiet and secure. Negative: Not particularly homely. Felt the accommodation a bit austere.

We’d recommend and would return but would ask for some better instructions on the heating system Positive: Had almost everything we needed for a two night stay, location was perfect, fully equipped property with lovely outdoor space and Dalby forest backdrop. Negative: Difficult to regulate the temperature as no clear instructions on how to control the thermostats and the instructions made available were poor, the property was too warm for our stay

Lovely cottage exceptional clean had everything we needed, was an ideal place for what we wanted to do and a good seating area outside, lovely and quiet , and having a parking space was great, would highly recommend it. Lived it.

Always enjoy Thornton le Dale. Not sure if we would book Sunny Dale again. Positive: Superb location in the heart of Thornton le Dale, spacious accommodation and garden. Negative: Disappointed with the little touches this time. No kitchen roll, only one toilet roll, 6 sachets of milk, 4 sachets of coffee. Tea pot in cupboard was very dirty (outside and inside). Would be greatly improved with a little welcome pack, makes all the difference. We found the beds very hard and I ended up sleeping on the sofa. A topper on each bed would help and, for those who prefer a hard bed, could be removed and stored.

Positive: The cottage was lovely and comfortable. Had all you need for break away. The location was great, near to the shops and pubs. A lovely area to be in.

Perfect location for our break Positive: Property was very comfortable & ideally placed for lots of attractions Negative: While we accept it was a self catering stay, we found one or two basics were either in short supply or simply not included ie one toilet roll, no washing up liquid or brush, no kitchen roll, shower over bath needed either a bath mat or safety handrail as it was very slippery, no basic condiments (salt, pepper, oil)

Too abrupt with information . Spent too much time telling us about penalties we could occur. Very u. Pleasant place. Television too high up. Noisy in the end bedroom.

Had an amazing stay at Sunnydale, the property was easy to find and spotlessly clean. It had all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay and such a quiet location. We will definitely be recommending here to our friends. Thank you for having us and hopefully stay again in the future when we visit beautiful Yorkshire 🥰❤️

What a beautiful cottage to stay in, everything was pristine and lovely quality. The location is perfect, we had a fantastic week and really loved everything about the surrounding area. Our hosts couldn’t have been more friendly or more helpful with everything, gave us some fantastic recommendations for things to see, places to visit & where to eat. We had a superb break and really appreciated everything in the cottage and the lovely helpful hosts. Thank you so much. We would love to return sometime to visit again.

Apartment was immaculate but devoid of character, no frills and only the very basics provided, lovely and quiet. Check village amenities as not everywhere open when you would expect.

Clean, tidy, modern accomodation in a great location. Positive: The location. Private parking. Clean, tidy, modern. Negative: Nothing which I didn't like. Maybe some books, board games, OS map, leaflets, that sort of thing.

Would stay again Positive: Very nice cottage. Negative: Having to pay £25 insurance after I paid for my booking was disappointing, a bit more transparency would be fairer just seemed like a money spinner. Not double beds, single beds pushed together making them uncomfortable, heating pump noisy kept waking me up, only one toilet roll. Not interested in a response btw.

Cottage is in Lovely quiet location but very close to centre of Thornton le dale so you can walk out and enjoy the lovel Positive: Everything you need to enjoy your break away and all spotlessly clean Negative: We are in our 70s and just found the sofa abit low for us but it was comfi.

Home from home Positive: Lovely cottage in a very picturesque village. Cottage is just behind main street in a lovely lane. Cottage is very well equipped, very clean and very comfortable. Well maintained - both inside and out. Check in (and out) was easy. A great place to stay. Negative: The only thing (I'm being very picky here) were the cushions on the couch. They were needing a wash and new inserts.

Fantastic property right in the centre of Thornton Le Dale which is a beautiful village with a lovely bakery and chocolate shop. Ideally located to visit the surrounding area, Helmsley, North York Moors NP, Dalby Forest etc. We would stay again and would recommend to family and friends.

Positive: Great location Negative: Plenty of better value options in the village or surrounding area. Dirty mugs in the cupboard, grime around bath and taps. Watch out for additional costs for insurance - booking page stated twice that is fully refundable, but there's an admin fee which is not refunded. Not a big fee but not expected and first time I've ever been charged for a pre authorisation payment in case of damage. Also had to chase for check in details

stayed at Sunny Dale cottage in Thornton le Dale after being let down by another airbnb place a day before my stay. Was a very lovely place to stay, lots of local walks to explore, places in village and surrounding areas for food/supplies etc. Was fairly clean, think £60 for cleaning fee on top of cost was a tad excessive though.

Have to say I was a bit annoyed at having to pay a damage waiver close to checking in and in order to receive check in instructions (never had to do that on Airbnb before) but having said that - Sunny Dale Cottage was a gorgeous place to stay. The cottage is lovely and walking distance to everything in one of THE most prettiest villages. We were very cosy and comfortable and loved our stay. Can highly recommend the cottage and Thornton le Dale as a base to explore the beautiful region.
