Amazing lodge, with some beautiful walking spots close by for our dog. Just a shame our hot tub didn’t work throughout the duration of our time.

Amazing lodge, with some beautiful walking spots close by for our dog. Just a shame our hot tub didn’t work throughout the duration of our time.
Shame about sneaky blame Positive: The facilities were good and the location is lovely. A generously proportioned place with good privacy for the outdoor deck. The short walk to the Plough Inn is well worth it as the food and atmosphere was lovely after a rainy walk.. Negative: There could be a few more kitchen utensil items and the sofa bed had a very thin, old mattress and would benefit from being updated. We are most disappointed that despite being very vigilant and obedient to the hot tub usage rules, we were billed £50 due to an apparent breach of these rules. There was no evidence given for what the breach was other than a photo of the water stating it needs to be fully drained. Having done some research, the only potential cause for a change in the colour of the water would be rain. It happened to be raining throughout our 2 hour use of the hot tub but there are no rules against use of it during inclement weather and there is no awning to provide shelter. To add insult to injury, the hot tub wasn't to temperature in time for our arrival or even 3 hours after check in time! We were patient and gave it the benefit of the doubt and waited until the following day to use it and then we got slapped with an unfounded additional cost! Needless to say, a very unwelcome end to what was a really terrific birthday weekend away.
Place was stunning, so quiet and relaxing, The lodge was really beautiful, it was clean but had toothpaste marks on the taps and in the basin of one sink, splashes on the mirror too, a few cobwebs in the living room around the curtains and fireplace area. Overall it was clean and beautifully decorated. We had a nightmare finding our lodge due to arriving at 10.30pm and everywhere closed, had no directions sent prior so had no idea where to go. Had to call the out of hours number to get help, He explained it perfectly and stayed on the phone until we got into our lodge , very friendly and helpful.Would definitely stay again as any issue was quickly solved and we did enjoy our stay .Thank you
Lovely, peaceful stay. In a clean well presented lodge. Would definitely go back. Positive: Arrival area clearly mark, with pleasant , helpful staff. Information given on where to locate lodge on the site. Lodge was beautifully presented, clean and in a quiet part of the site. Hot tub was a great addition for relaxation. It was lovely to watched the squirrels, rabbits and birds by the small lake. It had everything you need in the kitchen and bedrooms. Restaurant was a short walk and food enjoyable. Negative: There was not much that we didn't like! Only had a problem with the leaves falling into the hot tub but a net was provided.
Don’t book with Host & Stay Positive: I have no idea! I didn’t stay. Not because of Booking.com but because Host & Stay cancelled it because of a broken hot tub. The new place had a massive ANT infestation Negative: Host & Stay then went on to “sell” me a break in another smaller lodge. Dirty sofas and a massive ant infestation. They FORGOT to tell me that because I was booking through Host & Stay that the price would be the same for the smaller lodge. If I had re booked the smaller lodge it would have been £418 for 2 nights not the £483 that Host & Stay charged. I arrived late at the premises panicking because I didn’t know how to get the keys. Had I looked at my texts they had sent I had to pay a £40 damage waiver and then the check in was all done without seeing anyone. Disgusting service
