Wonderful family apartment in the heart of Whitby Positive: The apartment was very clean and tidy and well appointed. Everything just worked. The kitchen had all pots, pans, utensils, etc necessary to prepare meals from scratch. And a "Nespresso" coffee pod machine (original, small pods). The beds were very comfortable, the central heating kept the place warm and the shower was hot. The location was perfect as it was half way along one of the main streets in Whitby and with views of the abbey and the harbour. Good, reliable wifi. Negative: Stairs! Unfortunately both myself and my wife have problems with modility. The apartment is split over 3 levels which we were aware of, but there are 2 flights of stairs to climb to get to the front door. This was only a major problem when arriving and departing with luggage. Mobile internet was poor in the cente fo Whitby when I arrived, so I struggled to find the instructions for the outer door. I suggest taking a note of the door code before arrival. There are 3 key boxes; none has the apartment number, but it doesn't take long to work out which once you have the code. General instructions are accessed by mobile phone barcode on a picture on the middle floor. This includes the wifi code; (see issues regarding mobile internet...). The apartment guide book is in a drawer but should be on the table for arrival. This should include parkign passes which are hidden in various drawers. Storage is a bit limited for longer stays. There a plenty of cupboards, but many are full of cleaning and decorating equipment and I assume, the owner's clothes, etc.

Perfect! Positive: We love Spyglass and it is perfect for our family. Negative: Perfect location and wonderful facilities.

Location and property good but there were issues, especially with parking Positive: Location good, nice views, homely feel. Negative: It’s advertised as free parking in W zones but there were no scratch cards on arrival, we called several times to ask for this to be rectified but it never was. This caused stress/expense having to move the car from paid car parks to ages away on residential streets to avoid being fined, but it was being lied to on the phone ‘someone will drop one off for you’ etc that left a real bad taste. Cutlery and microwave had encrusted food that had to be cleaned before use, pillows on main bed need replacing and twin beds upstairs aren’t really suitable for adults, more for children. Whitby is nice but we wouldn’t stay here again I don’t think.

The property was misrepresented. We chose it for both location and the advertised “dedicated workspace,” but none was available. WiFi was also listed, yet the owner refused to provide access, despite it being promoted as an amenity which has now been removed from the listing. Parking was extremely difficult. The permit issued did not cover the surrounding half-mile, meaning we had to risk fines unloading outside before finding parking elsewhere in Whitby. On arrival, the property was unhygienic, with used sanitary products left in the bin and hair on the bed. The owner offered no resolution. We cut our stay short as we were unable to work from the property as advertised. The only positive was its proximity to shops and the seafront.

Positive: The location was excellent The bed was comfy Negative: Getting in the property took us about 30 mins as we couldn't open the key safe. We then realized ours was behind a grey box. Too much personnel stuff in the rooms. Entrance hallway was quite dirty and din't smell great Parking a bit too far away and not much room in the Zones. Had to call Host&Stay to get wi-fi password

Weekend in Whitby Positive: The decor, facilities, and location. Negative: The stairs, tiny low beds in the attic. Kept banging our heads on the beams and sloping ceilings.

Property was as described and in a good location in central Whitby. Only negatives is : no WiFi (as noted in property details), and the low beam on stairs from lounge to main bedroom (now have tile deep cuts on my head😱).

Enjoyed very much even.the weather was good Certainly no complaints and good value. Positive: The central but quiet location (well apart from noisy seagulls. Comfortable mattress. Very well equipped and attractive furnishings with nice touches. Negative: As we are late 70s and early 80s the many steps were a challenge

Amazing! Positive: Very clean and everything we needed was there. Brilliant location and quiet even though so close to everything. Loved the bar at the front of the property and Emma’s diner. Java was also a very nice breakfast! Would 100% recommend and would definitely stay here again. Negative: Nothing!

Whitby weekend Positive: Location was great ,bed was comfy and towels provided. Negative: Little bit small couldn't do anything in kitchen without being on top of everything.

Positive: Lovely clean home, comfortable beds, fantastic views from the top room, great location to the sea front. Would definitely recommend others to stay here and would love to come back.

Positive: Fab location, very homely and cozy. Kitchen well and bathrooms were great. Double bed was very comfortable and the views from the upper floors were good. Negative: We did get a bit confused, looking for no 10 Rose & Crown Yard but it was no 10 in the Spyglass property. Hob in the kitchen could do with replacing and the wardrobe door in the double room is nearly falling off. Also would be good to have a hanging rail on top floor.

Positive: Was clean and comfortable, had everything you needed , views was fantastic Negative: If anything stairs and no child lock on window on top floor

Will definitely be visiting again. Positive: The property is very bright and warm with a lovely atmosphere, and amazing views. The location of the property makes it very easy to access all surrounding shops and areas of the town.

Lovely place , perfectly located.

Nice property.. home from home! Positive: It was very central to all areas of whitby, no transport required whilst there. Negative: The microwave was situated on top of a tall fridge, keep in mind it's for making things very hot, if your a shortie like us, this could be a problem.. a simple shelf to the side of the fridge would be sufficient... and safer! Lots of stairs!!

Enjoyable. Excellent convenient location. Positive: Good location, clean, full of character, nice view from living room. Negative: Toilet seat in attic room wc was loose. So was light fitting in that room. We weren’t sure which were our recycling bins outside, by the way all the bins were labelled. I don’t think there was anywhere to put our recycling.

Lovely place, tucked away and great views. Charming little apartment Positive: Location was great for exploring, beds were comfy, views were great. Tucked away so hidden, once the car was parked we didn't move it. Negative: Parking (but everyone says that and it is Whitby so we knew what to expect!) No welcome box/pack - we got by but for the price had expected one with the essentials. The entrance hallway could do with a spruce but assumed this is shared and tbh you stay there long so no issues!

I've Had the best weekend Positive: I couldn't of asked for anything better the property was gorgeous and I will be staying again one day!! It's beautiful. Its close to the shops and beach no needing to drive anywhere!! The food was amazing the atmosphere was brilliant!! Had the best weekend!! Negative: Nothing I didn't like!

Fabulous location, great for families although parking difficult. Could do with better beds and a paint so for us not wo Positive: Fantastic location and the property was very spacious and was well equipped for families. Main bed very comfortable. Negative: There was an unpleasant smell on the second floor where the kitchen and sitting room are located. The bathroom extractor fan is poor and so it got really humid and misty when using the shower also the toilet roll holder was broken and only loosely secured so fell off every time we used it. The apartment also had a fair few marks on walls throughout and although the decor is lovely, the marks did make it look dirty. The single beds in the top bedroom are such poor quality and we’re genuinely awful to sleep on them.

Fantastic location tucked away but still in the heart of Whitby. The attic room with its own toilet and tv was loved by our teens. Perfect size for the 4 of us with everything we needed to cook in, take away or make a quick lunch. I loved the decor too.

Spyglass 1708 stay Positive: Very comfortable bed and good location Negative: The hob / grill / oven was absolutely disgusting and needs a good deep clean. We didn’t use it for this reason. We didn’t report it at the time as decided to eat out instead and couldn’t be bothered with the hassle. We didn’t want to spend our hol complaining and didn’t expect to. The whole property wasn’t the cleanest to be honest and looked as if the ‘cleaner’ had just given it a quick going over. ‘Four in a bed’ contestants would have had a field day!

A lovely flat and good location for easy food options, walks and trips to the beach.

Fabulous Apartment. Positive: The property is situated in an ideal location. It is tastefully decorated, well equipped, very clean & comfortable. We will definitely stay there again, it made our 4 days in Whitby very special. I'm a bit particular about where I stay, this property ticked all the boxes for approval. I don't usually leave feedback but this property is highly recommended. If you decide to book, I doubt you'll be disappointed, enjoy your stay. Negative: There is NOTHING I disliked about the property.

Great break away with friends excellent location for everything you need. Positive: Location was fantastic would definitely recommend and most certainly would return, apartment had everything you need for a break away could not fault it. Negative: Can’t say there was anything we disliked about our stay.

Spyglass is a well situated place to say for those wishing to visit Whitby. It is a spotless establishment and the communication with the host was excellent. Would definitely return.
