Great cottage for central Whitby Positive: A truly lovely little cottage for a central stay in Whitby, with of road parking and a secured garden, a big plus if you have dogs,fully equipped clean kitchen, bathroom has a shower and bath, great if you have a preference and very comfortable beds, all in a tasteful decorated cottage. Would definitely return.
Needs a deep clean, apart from that , lovely house, would stay again. Positive: Plenty of space, cosy, great location. Negative: When entering the house absolutely stunk of wet dog, we had to go buy air freshener. Could have been cleaner in places, cobwebs everywhere, the toilet was thick with black limescale, when taking the toilet brush out so I could clean it, the brush was full of poo, leading to my already suspicion that you hadn’t been cleared before we arrived 🤢 All over the house there are stains on the carpet, which look like dog wee stains, also a big yellow wee looking stain on the bedroom curtains as they are trailing on the floor. The house is lovely, but needs a deep clean.

Perfect Positive: Great location, so near everything. Super clean and decor lovely, looks like recently renovated. Cottage had everything you would need for a comfortable stay including a Lo’r coffee machine that was a lovely surprise 😋. Garden was great for our dog, we visited in march and can imagine that it would be a great sun trap in summer months. There was allocated private parking which is unusual for a Whitby property and was a great bonus. Couldn’t have asked for more and was so pleased I booked and will definitely return and recommend. Negative: No complaints whatsoever
Lovely house in very convenient location - parking space was crucial to decision to stay plus it was dog friendly. Lovely and warm with great shower and all the things you need. Only slight frustration was key to kitchen doors into garden didn't work - my partner and I both tried! We did contact Host and Stay who said they would come back to us, but unfortunately we didn't get an update, so a disappointed doggie couldn't use the garden!
Molls Hols. Positive: Location excellent. Parking a necessity so close to the town centre. Nice enclosed garden for the dog. Negative: Parking to the front of the property a shambles. Another side table in the lounge would be useful. Having the parking space at the back and the keypad at the front door doesn't make sense to me.
Cottage was beautifully warm and cosy when we arrived. Particularly appreciated the Christmas decorations. Location was very handy for walking into the centre of Whitby. It was good to have dedicated parking.
Great location Positive: Cottage was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Stayed her for 3 nights with my husband and my parents. Was only a short walk to shops and restaurants and the property is dog friendly too. Parking out back for one car, not sure how people aren't finding it, I'd recommend using Google Street view to familiarise yourself with the area and where the car park space is before arrival. There is limited parking out front which is first come first serve with the rest of the street, this is stated on a sign behind the front door and isn't advertised as a genuine Parking space with the property so again not sure why people are cross about this! This is a lovely property and would stay here again. Negative: Only tiny improvements to elevate experience needed. More hand towels would be great as well as some kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets. There was a handy dishwasher but no tablets and the washing up liquid was in very low supply.
Enjoyable but would have rather been informed of steep steps inside cottage. Positive: Location was fantastic Parking facilities was perfect Negative: Wasn’t as clean as it could have been The blurb said bathroom & bedrooms were both in first floor, not so & steep steps especially inside bathroom which wasn’t helpful considering 2 of party have got arthritic knees especially having to use toilet in night.

Lovely cottage, let down by the cleanliness Positive: The cottage was charmingly situated, offering convenient access to local shops, pubs, and restaurants. The cottage was cosy and we did enjoy our stay. Hot water was instant and the heating worked fine, beds were comfy and the area was reasonably quiet to say it is so close to the town. Negative: While the rooms were well-proportioned and the rear parking facility was advantageous, the experience was significantly impacted by the lack of consideration from other guests, whose vehicles obstructed our view, restricted natural light, and caused persistent noise disturbances near our living area through the day Regarding maintenance and hygiene, Spring Cottage requires a comprehensive deep clean. We observed significant dust and debris on the skirting boards, pervasive cobwebs throughout the property, and neglected conditions beneath the fireplace. Furthermore, the kitchenware was found to be soiled, requiring us to sanitize items before use, and several pieces were damaged to the point of being unusable. Additional concerns include stained curtains in the bedroom and unsanitary conditions within the window paneling, which appears not to have been maintained since installation. While the rear bedroom featured a modern window, its proximity to the drainage system resulted in audible noise that hindered our sleep. Although the provided bedding and towels were clean, the 4:00 p.m. check-in time seems disproportionate given the apparent lack of thorough cleaning between occupancies. Consequently, the premium cost of the stay does not appear to reflect the level of property maintenance provided. Based on an analysis of previous reviews for this property and other Host & Stay listings, it appears that concerns regarding cleanliness have persisted despite consistent guest feedback. Given the property's ideal location and suitability for our requirements, we would consider returning, though we trust our feedback will encourage a review of the current housekeeping standards. experience was significantly impacted by the lack of consideration from other guests, whose vehicles obstructed our view, restricted natural light, and caused persistent noise disturbances near our living area.

Spring Cottage was very nice and great location within minutes of town center. Cottage was mostly clean accept the small shower head though the waterfall shower head was fine. Garden has a few steep narrow steps to get up to which my older dog wasn't overly impressed with but they were shown on photos so our own fault but only reason we probably won't use this cottage again as otherwise it was perfect.
Amazing location, comfortable and well equipped. Positive: Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from the harbour. Quiet. Parking space was very handy. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely bright bedrooms and comfy beds. Negative: Front room quite dark (a very minor complaint!), and for the first couple of days the tv would not connect to any digital channels but this magically righted itself, after which we had no problems.
Positive: Clean well presented nicely decorated. Facilities excellent bathroom immaculate. Location fantastic 5 minute walk to dockside and old town. Negative: Not a complaint but if someone wants to email me I took pictures during the really bad down poor Wednesday night .The back doors from kitchen to garden are leaking and need re sealing to stop the water coming in. Many the mop and bucket was on hand. Ah I've just seen it can upload them so I have hope there helpful.

We had a wonderful stay in Whitby at this property. It was a great location and meant we barely used the car on our trip because everything was in walking distance. The house was lovely with everything we needed for our trip.

Highly recommend stay Positive: The location is excellent close to everything. Very quiet place and the parking is a bonus. Will definitely book to stay again we really enjoyed our stay it was a real home from home. Negative: The only downfall was the dog wee stains on the curtains and carpet. Which did not effect our stay and is not a reflection on the property. People who take their dogs should make sure they are house trained and should respect the property. This was reported to the owners and they are going to sort it.

Lovely few days at spring cottage! Positive: We had a fantastic break at spring cottage. The house was lovely and very well equipped, parking space was a bonus! The only minor issue we found was the curtains in the bedroom were pretty grim around the bottom. Very suspect yellow stains, im guessing from dogs. They could do with a good wash. Other than that the house was spotless. One thing that would have been nice to know before arriving (though no fault of the host) is that the houses either side are both having extensive renovations. One side were working well into the night (11pm) and we were woken up very early by roofers on the other side banging away right outside the bedroom window before 8am. Overall we had a lovely stay and would happily come back and reccomend to friends!! Negative: The curtains in the bedroom really do need a good clean, looks to be dog urine all over the bottom of them.

Very comfy seating and had everything you need for a great stay in Whitby. Although minutes from Whitby centre it’s in a very quite residential area. Absolutely essential in Whitby it has its own private parking space. Negative: Some unusual steps inside the property. 2 steps from lounge to kitchen, a large step inside the bathroom, and step from landing into one of the bedrooms.

Great location and parking space. Positive: The location of the property is great situated close to bagdale Hall. Also the parking space behind the property is a bonus for whitby. ( you arent guaranteed a space at the front of the property so if theres more than one car that would be an issue) The cottage was really well equipped with everything we needed. Bed was really comfy. WiFi was great. Coffee machine added bonus. Great shower. Good size bedrooms. Very clean. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again if the price was right. Negative: Customer service was poor. We had an issue with the key safe when we arrived ( thought i was using the correct pin but needed to ring host and stay and fill a form out first) the instructions for check in need to be clearer as I've never had to do that before and I've stayed in whitby many times before even at another host and stay property. So wasnt the best start to our stay .. freezing cold in the pouring rain not able to get into the property. The hosts number doesn't work so I had to ring host and stay which was time consuming. Few cobwebs here and there but was clean. Bath was tiny length ways so didnt get to have a nice soak which i was looking forward to. Really could do with some sort of curtain or voil on the patio doors to the garden as it does feel quite creepy on a evening.

Home from home! Positive: Great central location. Two minute walk to bus station , harbour, pubs and restaurants. Comfortable furnishings. Well stocked kitchen. Warm and cosy for winter nights. Home from home, Negative: The step into/from the bathroom is steep and potentially dangerous. A different colour flooring may reduce risk. Left phone charger (my fault) Still waiting to here back from Host & Stay re getting this back to me.

As our son lives in Whitby we had an enjoyable stay Positive: It was clean and comfortable. Negative: Not enough hand towels, only one for four people and only one tea towel. The bathroom had a step as you entered and very close to the exit from the shower. Contacted Host and Stay about Towels broken cup Washing up liquid and a large people carrier park virtually against the front door making difficult to walk down the steps. Did not receive any response.

The house inside was beautiful, it’s a shame the garden furniture hadn’t been cleaned In a while we had to get rid of all the bugs and spiderwebs and wipe down the table and chairs.
Even though we only stayed for a few days we loved the cottage and its location , its quaint and clean and has everything you need and the back garden is really nice to sit out in and is a sun trap. The only issue is parking and we used the private parking space at the rear of the property
The place overall was nice and was in a great location. However, the amenities were minimal and you couldn’t open the window in the main bedroom so it became very hot and difficult to sleep.

Had to phone Host & Stay for this info but did receive the same email 4 times addressing me by my surname (no salutation) and informing me I’d receive check in information 6 hours before arrival. The final email after we departed!
Very comfortable, well equipped cottage, so peaceful but so close to centre of Whitby Positive: Everything! Location was great for accessing Whitby and walks etc. No need to move car. V comfy well appointed cottage with everything we might need.
Positive: The location is perfect. The cottage is modern with everything you need, it's nice that they provide tea,coffee and milk so you can have a drink when you arrive if you didn't bring your own. Negative: Only thing i could say is maybe use the rear door rather than the front one as that is where you park, and if people park awkwardly at the front, it makes it tight to reverse down the street when unloading/packing.
AVOID! Zero customer service Negative: Not a great experience, although we were booked to stay in spring cottage we ended up in a completely different property further away from the town. I recommend not checking in any later than 4pm as when we tried to check in at this time we realised that the key would not unlock the door as there was a problem. Trying to get hold of someone to resolve the issue was an uphill struggle. When you call the helpline they literally have no idea about the properties, I was told several times that they had no reports of a problem with the door however this didn't help us. I was even told that the property had two front doors so I should try the other door which didn't even exist. Only after asking for someone to physically come down to the property to confirm that the door wasnt opening did they actually send someone. To my surprise this person didnt have another set of keys so all they did was try the key we had which unsurprisingly didn't work. They then informed us that there was a key safe at the back of the property with a back door key in, this information was also fictional and we began to wonder if anybody had a clue. After a four hour drive to get to the property and then a further two hours stood outside waiting for some sort of resolution we were finally moved to another property further away and with no garden. This whole experience completely put a dampener on our stay and having contacted the property to request compensation I have been completly ignored. My advice, just dont book here theres plenty of other properties within the area.
Home from Home Negative: Parking was an issue.. To be expected in centre of seaside town but private road outside property was essentially a car park for neighbours numerous vehicles, which blocked the road and large van blocked our doorway/window. Didn't affect our enjoyment of this property though.

Great location in the centre of Whitby. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable cottage. Very well equipped, immaculately clean. The garden is delightful and the private parking space a real bonus as parking in Whitby is notoriously difficult. Very comfortable king size beds . Everything you could wish for m. We can’t wait to, and will, choose to stay at Doring Cottage again
Excellent location for Whitby. Positive: 300 yards from the centre of Whitby, couldn't be better. The rooms were clean and comfortable and foot access easy from the front. The kitchen area was well laid out for a short stay. Negative: In the end the parking instructions were accurate, but there was another signed parking area in the lane in front of the row of cottages with as reserved notice for our cottage. The lane was full of cars and a builders van. That confused us at first as we ddin't fully associate the rear parking area at the back of the cottage with the cottage itself. We had two cars and initially found an off road site close by for one of them.

Spring Cottage Whitby Positive: location was good right on heart of whitby, living room was cosy and kitchen was well equipped except fridge was a bit small for 4 people and freezer space was frozen and needed defrosting Negative: Very poor customer services as had trouble with parking as someone was in space allocated for cottage all week and their solution was to put note on car with my number on which was not acceptable, Reading reviews this has happened before so something needs to be done about it. Also a blue van parked right outside front door on several occasions making access very difficult and also blocking front window to cottage. Pans in kitchen were dirty so had to clean them before use. Back garden tap did not work and also by back door was very mucky especially dirty old sink with weeds growing in it. There were not enough towels for 4 people

Fabulous cottages, but lots and lots of steps. Extremely clean, very comfortable and warm. Very well equipped. Brilliant location for Whitby centre. The only thing that lets it down is the frontage and the reserved parking space (that was occupied during our 3 night stay). Parking at the top of the garden was easy to find and good access.
House good and furnishings nice, needs a good clean/update of shower. Don’t send option for early check in, then don Positive: The location and overall facilities of the property. Negative: The rain shower head is too large for the shower cubicle. Have to squeeze into the corner of the shower to wash hair or have to turn the shower off. The small shower head is grimy and needs replacing for health reasons, the shower tiles need the grout and silicone cleaning / replacing where not clean or have black mold. Received an email for option of an early check in time, which was not honoured by Host & Stay even though email accepting my request for a specific time had been had been received. Turned up to find property not clean, then told by their customer service it was our fault for turning up early even though they had accepted the time.
Excellent location, cottage needs some attention. Especially bathroom. Positive: Location is great, very near to shops, bars and restaurants. Cottage was very comfortable with 2 large bedrooms and good sized kitchen and lounge area. There is parking space at the rear of the property. Negative: Bathroom smells of mould as the extractor is not powerful enough. Cooker hob, oven and toaster took an age to heat up so cooking wasn't really viable. The shower is difficult to operate and did not get hot, only achieved lukewarm with water on full blast. Cobwebs on stairs and in bathroom, everywhere needs a dust, but otherwise was clean.

Clean , fabulous location and very comfy . Positive: The location is superb and we were very glad to have parking . The cottage was very nicely finished and very clean. The shower was superb. It’s literally a five minute walk into town , but it was lovely and peaceful where we were. The outdoor area is very nice - a little sun trap! Negative: Very minor - only one hand towel for 4 people for 4 days - I would have happily bought my own had I known. Also , no tea towel. I did email host and stay but have received no reply . Also a bit of an eggy smell with the drains, but no drama !
