Pros: Cottage is beautifully decorated. Bathroom felt very luxurious. We appreciated the fire lighters and it was a short walk to the village store to get wood for the fire. Really snug and the heating plus log burner worked well to quickly warm the house up. Cons: There was dog hair and sand on the sofas in arrival. The house had a general doggy whiff to it. We mentioned on arrival and never heard back. Parking was limited, one or two spots left within 150m of the cottage in winter. The shared path to the cottage was narrow, unlit and uneven through the back gardens of several houses. There were 4 knives, forks and spoons. Twin bedroom is miniature. Smoke alarm in upstairs bathroom is optical. Specifically not designed for use in bathrooms. Despite this it's been installed about a meter from the shower meaning the smoke alarm goes off and woke up our kid. Didn't feel a very personal stay - 4 messages between booking and check out about accidental damage. Not the most welcoming vibe!

Great location, very comfy king size bed, the second room we didn’t use you’d struggle to get into the bed nearest the window. Well equip kitchen and very comfortable sitting room, although we visited in the winter the outside space was good for dog and would be lovely to sit out in summer. We’d recommend this Airbnb, look forward to visiting again. Very pet friendly

Beautiful cottage, really cosy and comfortable, and amazing to just walk down to the beach with the dog every morning. We also really enjoyed the proximity of great cafes, restaurants and pubs.

A very comfortable and relaxed stay and a lovely beech for the dogs , the log fire was a welcome return on a chilly wet day , listening to albums on the record player was a treat.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, clearly well thought out and excellently designed interior. Parking is not as easy as advertised. The nearest parking is on the village high street but it is a busy little tourist village and there were never any spaces in December so you'd have no chance in tourist season. Doesn't come with logs for the fire, and with a very late check-in of 4pm you have to race across the road to buy some. I'd have paid a little extra to have some logs waiting for me! Finding the alleyway was tricky, very unclear where it was in the dark. Excellent responsiveness from the letting agency. Very lovely and luxurious cottage, really well looked after, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and the records were a treat! Would come again.

Very enjoyable Positive: It was clean, tidy and had all the facilities we needed. It had a very peaceful atmosphere. Negative: The main bedroom radiator did not work while the rest of the cottage was pleasantly warm. I reported this to the owner but had no reply.

A lovely cottage right in the centre of the village and close to good bars/ eateries. The second bedroom is snug but we managed perfectly well. We would go back if in the area.

Comfortable and convenient for a short stay. Positive: Good location. Nicely decorated no welcoming. Negative: Difficulties with parking are under represented on the website. Main bed springs are almost away on one side making the bed uncomfortable. We did not need the second bedroom , but there would be no room for adults. The upstairs bathroom had an odd smell.

Positive: Great location for Alnwick and surrounding attractions. Fantastic beach with beautiful golden sand. Lots of choice for dining abd snacking. Negative: Lack of parking nearby for unloading and loading luggage etc.

A well located cottage stay in Alnmouth Positive: The house is very nicely designed throughout. It has a cosy atmosphere and is well located in the town. Lots of useful equipment in the kitchen. Negative: The bed in the Master was quite uncomfortable, with one side completely drooped and the gap between the two beds (where a twin had been turned into a double) very noticeable. The second bedroom was a lot smaller than expected. Bathroom amenities were the bare minimum, and only one toilet roll was provided per room for the week. The heating came on at night and was very noisy - difficult to turn off.

Nice cottage with plenty of space for 2 but second bedroom best for children. Short walk from the road and only public parking ,which is at a premium in Alnmouth, but we always found somewhere to park. Great stay in lovely village.

This should be made very clear in the description as the photo is misleading. The beds are tiny and uncomfortable and you have to climb over one to get to the other. No wardrobe space

Such a beautiful home! Tastefully decorated throughout with gorgeous big dining kitchen and bathrooms. Set in a pretty village with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurant options. Five minutes to the beach.

Fabulous time, in a lovely house, within a lovely village Positive: Spacious for two people. Clean and everything we needed. Bathroom large with big bath and shower. Nicely decorated. Negative: Nothing at all

Quaint little cottage, however, the beds are horrendous. Very old, saggy and extremely lumpy with a hard lip all the way around the edge. If they are zip linked together this means a double hard lip right down the middle. The second bedroom really should just have a single bed or bunk beds if height allows. Luckily I was on my own so no one else had to climb over me to get out.The outside space is very small but made smaller by all the over hanging plants. None of the bushes had been trimmed back and the roses were draped over the table. It had not been swept or tidied in many months.The living room is extremely dark due to just one small, frosted window. This means the lights have to always be on. The spotlights are very bright and must not be dimmable because the dimmer switches had no effect.No hand towel in kitchen. Only six of each cutlery items. Definitely need more if you want to use dishwasher and not constantly be washing up.Cottage is fairly quiet and close to all amenities and the beach.

Sonsy Cottage was the perfect location for our sister get together (3 sisters and my niece). It’s a beautiful and well equipped property, bigger than it looks and in a great location in Alnmouth. We loved being able to wander to the beach, pop to the local restaurants and pubs and head further afield for adventures.

We thought the cottage itself, location, garden and decor was beautiful. It is located roughly 150m-200m from the nearest parking (only 2 hours at a time). Parking on the lower road near the golf course has no restriction. The ensuite bedroom is tastefully decorated, whilst the other is undecorated and only suitable for two small children as the room can only house the bed (or separated single beds (76cm, not standard 90cm) with very little space (6”) around the beds on any side. The mattresses are not very comfortable in all cases. As we were two grown couples, we had to move the two singles into the living room for the duration of our stay of one week. This left us without the use of the lovely living room. There is one beautiful bathroom in the en suite bedroom with a bath and separate shower and a second bathroom downstairs outside the kitchen with a large rainfall shower. It would benefit from a proper cleaner as we had to clean on day one. This is a managed property.

Positive: spacious and comfortable property - beautifully decorated - especially liked the WIlliam Morris touches. Fabulous bathrooms ! Great location just off the main street but super quiet

A really lovely cottage to stay. Apart from the parking being on the road and not finding it initially. The cottage itself is really beautiful with good amenities. The location is great and Alnmouth beach is beautiful and quiet!

The cottage was warm and inviting; stylishly presented and beyond what we were expecting. The bathrooms were excellent and the huge 6ft bed in the principal bedroom was wonderful. The second bedroom was much smaller and really only suitable for one adult or two small children. We loved having a log burner for cosy evenings. The cottage is tucked away and was a little tricky to find initially, but once found, we enjoyed the privacy it afforded. All rooms were well kitted out and we wanted for nothing. Parking is an issue as you have to park on the main road away from the cottage and spaces weren’t always available . For us as adults it was fine, it may be tricky with small children and all their paraphernalia. The information on the internet displayed in the living room is incorrect and without the internet, we couldn’t access the information sent by host and stay. We ended up going to the pub to use theirs! Overall we would highly recommend this cottage and would happily book again.

Lovely stay at Sonsy cottage- so comfy and homely, plenty of space and slept so well!!! Very near to the beach and also a few lovely pubs and places to eat. Would definitely go back! Thank you!

Generally very enjoyable but would stress that this property is not suitable fo four adults. Positive: Lovely kitchen 2 decent bathrooms and lovely lounge. Negative: Advertised as a double bedroom with en-suite and second bedroom with 2 single beds. (This room was much too small only suitable for children and not adults - the photos were deceptive - Beds were so close together that you had to climb over one to get to the other and the radiator was not working so it was extremely cold. The wardrobe area was dirty and could not be used. The glasses in the kitchen suitable for drinking water/ juice were chipped on the rims and not fit for purpose. These issues could easily put right would make for a wonderful stay.

Couldn't fault anything! Communication with the host company was easy, the house was warm and clean on arrival, and there was everything you might need for a comfortable say.

A beautifully decorated and appointed cottage in the heart of Alnmouth. No parking, but we had no issue finding a space on the main street in early December - might be more problematic in high season! Be aware the 2nd bedroom is very, very small. You open the door and you fall into the bed. No room for bedside tables, lights or even suitcases on the floor. In truth this wasn't a big issue for us, but we were envious of the occupants of the main bedroom with their massive ensuite bathroom (the other bathroom is downstairs, adjacent to the living room)! Great communication with the managing agency.

Lovely cottage in a lovely place - the very centre of Alnmouth close to the sea. The only thing was that the heating in the kitchen didn't work - in November - and, despite good communication with the host, it didn't get mended the whole time we were there. Sure they'll get it fixed eventually, but...
