Solimar House was a fabulous place to stay especially for a large family group. Although it is a little pricey, I don’t think it could be beaten for location in Whitby. It was nice to have the use of such a large garden. This was great for alfresco dining and winding down at the end of the day. Host & Stay responded very quickly and courteously to a query we had concerning refuse collection. We had a slight issue using the coffee machine as the instructions in the binder appeared to be for a different model. For such a large group it was a struggle to meet the 10am checkout time. All in all we had a lovely time staying at Solimar House.

We had a family reunion (10 of us) travelling from London, Edinburgh, Berlin and Folkestone so the location worked well for us all. The house was lovely and mostly as described. Whilst it was lovely I think luxurious is stretching it a bit. It’s fine but not extravagantly furnished. I think it’s overpriced, too, on reflection. Notwithstanding that, we had a good time. Easy access to the beach (and a great swim in the fabulous waves) and to the town. Lidl is close by for food shopping. Don’t miss the town wending your way through the cute streets on the east cliff and absorbing the vibrancy of west cliff and the harbour area. Really lonely scenery and vibe. We didn’t get time to do everything we wanted and would do the ghost walk and a boat trip next time.

Fantastic stay in a lovely house! Very comfortable stay, lots of room even with nine of us staying together. 2 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute walk into Whitby centre. Would highly recommend staying here for location alone, beautiful views of the sea and surrounding coast line. Host was responsive, and helpful. It’s been an absolutely lovely week.

This is a beautiful house to stay in and suited our family of 4 generations and 2 big dogs well. Very good access to the beach, wonderful showers, a large secure garden. If we were ever back in Whitby for a big family gathering we would try to stay again.

Fantastic place. Suited 16-83 year olds. Only advice is bring eye masks if you don’t want to be an early riser. Kitchen so well equipped and all just super user friendly.

Lovely views from the house ideally placed to get to beach and into Whitby town centre. Lift to beach was out of action. Very steep paths if you have children or disabled. You can walk to pavilion which has a better path to promenade and beach. Recommend.

Excellent location for a large family get away.

We had an amazing stay at Solimar House - location is great for Whitby, house was excellent and had everything you needed. Communication from the host was brilliant throughout, we would definitely use this location again if we decide to come back to Whitby!!

You should book this spot! It's a gem -- sea views, beautiful interior, comfy bedrooms, spacious kitchen, nice living room furniture, huge backyard, kid toys, and a walkable location into Whitby. There's free parking out front and it was so nice to pull up and unload. There's a great walking path along the sea in front of the house and a crazy golf, kids swimming pool, and our favorite restaurant (Pizza West) all about two minutes away. A few basic tweaks and it'd be perfect: -The lock box was SO HIDDEN. We had 4 adults and couldn't find it. We asked for more info and were just told to just "find the lockbox." It was past 2 gates and tucked away. Need more instruction. -It was a hot week. They said there were "no fans" (why not just buy one)m so we bought one, and then there were two mini ones (thank you!). -There's a great laundry room but no drying rack. -Only 1 bedroom has double blinds and it gets VERY BRIGHT in the morning. This would be SO nice in every room. Thank you!

The house is very spacious and had everything we needed! Beautiful views and garden, some good games for the kids and overall clean and comfortable. We would love to go back!

Great stay in a lovely house overlooking the ocean and a short walk from the town and the beach. Rooms were spacious and the garden is a sun trap. Only small issues were : 1. Would have benefited from curtains in the bedrooms instead of blinds as the sun woke us all up at 5am, and 2. a few more plates and cutlery options to meet the needs of us all. But they were minor niggles rather than major issues. We all loved our stay and the weather was sensational.

Fabulous house and location

Solimar House was amazing. The location was fantastic, just straight out on to the wonderful Whitby beach. The house was spotless and so peaceful. We all loved it and would definitely go back.

A great stay apart from the resident seagull and her brood living on a ledge above the door!. Positive: The location was amazing and couldn't have been improved, superb! Negative: A few things in the kitchen didn't work properly or needed to be replaced.

Lovely house, superb location, well equipped.

The house itself has great potential, as it's large, bright, and with great views, location, and back garden. Unfortunately, it is extremely poorly managed and we would not stay there again (nor would we rent any property from the same property manager). We were informed hours before our arrival of an issue with wifi and that someone would be coming by that evening - which they did. They couldn't fix it though, which meant no wifi for the entire stay. While we can understand that things break, there was no further attempt to fix the wifi, nor was there any further communication from the property manager. More importantly, the property was not clean. There were visible marks on the pillow cases (brown stains, makeup), hairs in many of the beds, and the master bed was positively filled with dog hairs. We actually had to vacuum it before washing it. The toilets had not been cleaned, and there were crumbs all over the dining furniture and floor. The main couch had a faint smell of vomit. We spent the first night cleaning the house and washing various bed linens. Even if we could get past the issues with cleanliness (we can't), the lack of room darkening blinds in the bedrooms would keep up from returning. In the summer, it seems like broad daylight in the bedrooms by around 4am, and we struggled to sleep. We would not return.

Incredible Positive: Facilities were amazing had everything you could think of. Negative: We ran out of toilet roll and kitchen roll and there was no spares available so had to go buy some a spares cupboard would have been great.

Positive: Location was brilliant, just a short walk to town. Stylish, well equipped, lovely house which was great for our family get together. Peaceful and a fabulous view. Communication with hosts was brilliant, useful guidance on the house, its amenities and local area. Plenty of parking out front and a lovely back garden out back. Negative: Nothing to dislike about this place. Our family would be happy to visit again

Perfect location, every need catered for. Had a great stay.

Lovely setting for our family get together. Positive: Great location, fantastic view from the front of the house. Spacious, well equipped accommodation with thoughtful homely extras. Enclosed pet and child friendly garden. Negative: Welcome book contained contradictory information for refuse collection. A couple of maintenance points to address, the lock on one en-suite bathroom jammed, trapping occupant and bath plug in family bathroom did not seal so the water ran out. Heating set high but manageable by turning off multiple radiators.

Great location and space

What an amazing house, in a fantastic location, with everything you need for a fabulous weekend escape to Whitby. Beautifully furnished, loads of added amenities, plenty of space, seating and parking for even the biggest of groups, with incredibly comfy beds. Would 100% recommend and hope to stay again soon.

Perfect location.

A great place to stay in Whitby, super clean and tidy. The room with the bath in is exceptional and has the most incredible view of the sea. Great location so close to Whitby centre.

Positive: Fab location, excellent parking. The house is beautiful and perfect for a large family or group. There are a few bits of wear and tear around the house but 98% is bang on. Kitchen well supplied, all bedding and linen provided abs facilities excellent. Negative: Just a few bits of wear and tear around the house (our toilet seat was only half fixed and a lamp was broken) but we didn’t let it detract from the rest of the house and facilities which were excellent.

Gorgeous house in a great location and loved that it was dog friendly. The house also had camp chairs, body boards etc for the beach which we took advantage of with the good weather. Really enjoyed and will return!

Great house ! Had everything you may need , with a well equipped kitchen , games, tv and even binoculars for bird watching and dolphin spotting. We were lucky enough to see dolphins playing right in front of the house.

We stayed at this property for a week 22nd April. 4 Adults and two dogs. It was easy to check in/locate the keys and on first glance the location was absolutely fabulous! Well the house did not disappoint! Huge rooms, clean, nice and modern. Gorgeous bay windows. Smart TV so you can log into your Netflix/Amazon Prime. Everything we could have asked for and more. The garden was very secure and massive! We, and the dog's, spent a lot of time out there. Also a fab warm water outdoor shower to wash the dogs off after the beach. Absolutely perfect! Absolutely GORGEOUS views of the sea from all bedrooms, lounge and kitchen, perfect! Location, gorgeous beach right across the road! Stunning sands and sea. 8 minute walk into Whitby centre. Lots to see and do. The brewery bar at the top of the 199 steps was really nice. 90% of places are dog friendly and lots of water bowls about. We enjoyed every moment and didn't want to leave! We will definitely be returning, if you’ll have us....☺☺ Thanks so much for having us.
