Beautiful cottage in the nice village of Ovingham - we had a great stay & would recommend to anyone. We had our dog with us & she loved it - secure small front garden & there is a brilliant footpath just across the grassed area. Hosts were very proactive & responsive - thank you so much for a lovely stay

Nice place. Easy to get to by train which helps as we don’t drive. Couple of little pubs which were good for grub. Dog friendly and some nice walks close by. Would stay again.

“ Beautiful” Arrived early so parked opposite the cottage and took the dog for a walk around the river/orchard area. Plenty of parking spaces. Cottage looked amazing from outside and upon entering we were not disappointed. Very clean and spacious. Clutter free. Tea, coffee and milk available. We brought a few logs from home so had the fire going straight away plus the heating on. It was very cosy. Comfortable bed/plenty hot water for a bath. Really nice location. It’s a shame the pub is not dog friendly but that didn’t spoil the holiday as we took our own food/alcohol. We will be back. Thank you x

A beautiful cottage in a peaceful location with lovely views. Positive: We loved our stay at the Snoozy Goose-exceptionally clean, very comfy beds and a fantastic location. Beautiful views across the green. We loved walking our dog through the community orchard and along the river. A very friendly village with a lovely, welcoming village store.

Negative: Maybe a table lamp in the sitting room for ambience but that’s a minor thing. And maybe a large doggie mat as you come in for paws!

Snoozy Goose is in a great location, with riverside, open fields and woodland walks from the door. We were always able to park by the front door. A previous visitor had commented that they couldn't run a hot bath which we found hard to understand. With a combi boiler we just wondered if they turned the tap on too full just increasing cold water flow? Anyway, we had no problems with the bath and the shower was good. The galley kitchen was narrow - as described - but well equipped. The single bed was also narrower than a standard single bed.

The cottage was immaculate, well furnished and in a great location at the heart of the village. Two lovely pubs with good menu choices and lots of great walks. We loved it.

Well placed cottage for the first half of Hadrian's Well Positive: We stayed one week in the cottage as we were walking the first part of Hadrian's Wall. The cottage is well situated at a driving distance of Newcastle, Hexham, and the major sites of the wall than we wanted to visit. We also drove up to Durham, definitiely worth the visit. The contact with the agency was smooth and we had fast answers to all our questions. Negative: The confort of the cottage is correct, but the equipment is a bit short for cooking, and the beds were not very comfortable, in particular the double bed that has a very soft mattress : we tend to move a lot in our sleep, and this kind of bed is not good for our old backs I'm afraid.

Very comfortable and peaceful. Lovely village and ideal for a visit to our family living in Wylam. Would stay again !

We had a wonderful stay at The Snoozy Goose in Ovingham and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. The cottage is beautifully done, with a fantastic kitchen and bathroom that feel both high quality and very comfortable to use during a longer stay. The whole place has a really snug, cosy atmosphere, especially with the fire lit; perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring. The location is ideal: great local walks right on the doorstep in Northumberland, and it’s also easy to get into Newcastle, making it a brilliant base whether you want countryside or city. It’s also exceptionally dog-friendly. The dog blankets were a thoughtful and very welcome touch, and the location couldn’t be better for dog owners. Being right by the green made early morning and late-night toilet trips quick and stress-free, which we really appreciated. Overall, a cosy, well-equipped cottage in a perfect spot. We’d happily return and highly recommend The Snoozy Goose to anyone, especially those travelling

A very peaceful cottage located next to a great pub and a very short walk across a bridge to the railway station. Easy access to Newcastle. We took a uber back and that cost circa £30. Some great places to walk around and recommend the cafe across the road to the station for a good hearty breakfast too.

We did injoy our stay here, ideally for a couple not sure about 3 people as only a 2 seater sofa . They is no private pa Positive: Ideal location , very well decorated to a good standard Negative: Lack of mugs only 3 but over 20 glasses , some housework not good on shower screen on seal and around bath , the quilt cover had lots of black marks on it . Better directions to find the cottage it’s in a row behind the main road , the number of messages from the company who run the cottage try to sell things even damage insurance private chef, etc

Will 100% be back. The perfect little cottage if you are visiting Newcastle or the surrounding areas. The view from the cottage is lovely and it is incredibly peaceful (even with the pub on the corner of the run of cottages).

Everything we wanted for a lovely few days away in the country. Great quiet little spot, and a cosy place with real homely feel. Recommended.

A beautiful little cottage that had everything we required for our stay. A Iittle difficult to find but that was down to us and not the instructions sent, if only we had read them beforehand😁 Peaceful and quiet and very clean. A pleasure to stay there and we will use this again when in the north east. The train station is very close although you cannot hear the trains. Ideal if you want to travel into Newcastle which takes about 20 mins.

Lovely little cottage for our short stay in Ovingham. Very clean and well appointed. We appreciated the communication from the host beforehand and felt well looked after. Would definitely book again!

Positive: Excellent cottage, nice neighbours, quiet, lovely walks and open field in front the dog could run on. Negative: I have to agree with previous comments the double bed needs a new mattress soft & lumpy!

Positive: Very comfy bed and clean accomodation. Loved sitting in the little suntrap out the front. Negative: The kitchen has limited albeit lovely equipment

Snoozy Goose cottage Positive: The location is great. The dogs loved exploring the Tyne Riverside Country Park. Negative: The cottage is nice, but as other reviews have said it is let down by the mattresses. They are very soft and uncomfortable, resulting in a poor night's sleep. It's a shame because we would have liked to come back to the Snoozy Goose 😞

Nice base for exploring the north east.

Very nice cottage in great location Could have done with a bigger bed and the bathroom was very restrictive on space due to the bath which some people would like personally we would prefer a walk in shower Ideal walk from the White Swan which is a lovely pub with good food It has a very nice beer garden with covered gazebo ideal for dogs The Bridge End inn 50 yards from the cottage does not allow dogs in and has an awful outside area so although it had quite a nice looking menu we didn’t eat there

The cottage is decorated to a good standard and provided the ideal base for a holiday. Positive: The location is fantastic. It is in a lovely village with two nice pubs that are within walking distance of the property and serve good evening meals. There are lots of things to see and do in the local area, with lots of pretty villages and walks. The cottage itself has a lovely view from the house and garden, so it was the perfect place at the end of a busy day for sitting in the with a nice refreshment or two! Negative: The instructions to find the cottage could have been clearer as it took us a while to find property based on the information given.

We have just had a wonderful stay at this beautifully presented cottage. It’s in a great location with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing break. A real highlight was the lovely pub just a few doors down—the owners were incredibly friendly and the Italian food served inside was delicious and very reasonably priced. We’d happily stay here again and have already recommended it to family and friends.

Have stayed here before to visit our daughter. Clean and comfortable accommodation in a quiet location.

The cottage is lovely, however 60 to clean it was a joke when it wasn’t even that clean when we got there and had to hoover it ourselves due to a few bugs on the kitchen floor and the rug in the living room covered with stains. The TV didn’t work and couldn’t receive any channels, and when we spoke to the customer service team they basically said we didn’t know how to work a TV, even though there was clearly an issue with the Ariel. Beds are comfy, place is nicely decorated, but just wasn’t happy with the customer support team treating us like idiots and the 60 cleaning charge. Also, once booked in you receive so many messages a day regarding a private chef or a tour guide that it became a nuisance and started to ruin the build up to the holiday. I’m not saying don’t stay here because it is a lovely cottage. However, sort the tv out and actually clean the place properly to warrant charging us 60 to clean it if you have a pet.

Property is ina charming area ideal for dog walkers very peaceful and I would recommend staying here Positive: Property is in an ideal situation not far from the main motorway in which makes commuting easier Negative: Property could do with an extra sofa considering the accumulation can hold three people. We found during our stay the main hot water for the bath was not piping hot and you only had a few minutes before it turned cold

Snoozy Goose was an ideal cottage for our stay. However the early arrival charging system irked us. Positive: n/a Negative: My main dis-satisfaction with Host and Stay, having paid a considerable sum for a small cottage booking in late season, was their charging system for an earlier arrival time from the 16.00 hrs check in time. This comment is mainly directed at situation where property was unoccupied on previous day. In our situation, having driven in wintery conditions for over 3 hours, we could not arrive even an hour early without additional charges being levied. There was no latitude at all with Host and Stay on this matter. It was a case of take it or leave it.

Check-in was easy and straightforward. The home exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and quality. The location was perfect, set in a lovely village with great walks right on the doorstep and two nice pubs within walking distance. Check-out at 10am was a little early for us, but still reasonable. Would definitely stay again!

Had a fantastic stay in a wonderful cottage in a very special part of the worlds greatest County - Northumberland. Great communication with the owner who was very obliging and very clear in their instructions - there is a difference between being cheap and offering great value for money and this property offers excellent value for money - I’d recommend again and again. The bed is so comfortable, the rooms immaculate and so well presented that you can tell the owners are so proud to offer it to us. The log burner belts out all the heat and more you’d ever need! If you’re lucky enough to find it available and ‘swithering’ on whether to book - don’t swither - book it - fantastic, peaceful, clean, modern, full of character and pure chill and relaxation.

Lovely village, close to Newcastle. Great pub about 50 yards away with excellent food. The location is very quiet. Would highly recommend.

This was a great, clean and good location cottage, but it would have been more desirable if the check in was earlier than 4 and later check out than 10, and the cost of extending the check in wasnt so expensive, but that is my only issue, no other problem at all.

A short staycation in a lovely location Positive: Location was great, picturesque and peaceful. The garden set up because the weather was nice. The beds were really comfy too. It was welcoming and clean. Information book was great. Negative: Just a few small things- more than 1 toilet roll, cleaning materials, something to clean dishes with like a scourer, a lighter to light fire lighter for fire. Also other self catering places leave a small welcome pack, but even oil for cooking would have been good. Also would be great to know there’s an iron, washing machine etc. I don’t think that was information on booking.com. A fulllength mirror?

Had everything we needed - towels, bedding, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, tea towel and dish cloth, etc, all thoughtfully provided. Comfy beds, lots of hot water, and good water pressure. I grew up in Ovingham, so I may be biased, but it really is the most beautiful spot overlooking the village green. Excellent communication from the host. Would 100% recommend. Negative: Nothing

Lovely little cottage, cosy and making excellent use of the space. Spotlessly clean. Is a managed property by Host and Stay so a few extra hoops to jump through regarding deposit and insurance but good value overall.

Really lovely little cottage in perfect location. Every thing, bedding, crockery etc very high quality….really enjoyed the place. Just disappointed with wood burning stove as I enquired about whether there would be wood etc to set a fire on our first evening and was told there would be but there wasn’t

We had a very enjoyable 3 day stay at Snoozy Goose Positive: Property had been very tastefully renovated,with every facility clients could ever need. I could not fault the cleanliness on takeover. The outside patio area was very pleasant to sit out on and it enjoyed quite a bit of the day sunshine Negative: My only slight concern was the steepness of the stairs up to the upper floor and the narrow depth of the treads. However there is a dado rail for gripping on to, to counter this.

Watch out for hidden charges. Positive: Property was in a good location for what we needed. Pleasant outlook and nice area. Comfortable beds. Negative: Found dirty clothes in one of the drawers. Piles of dust under the bed. Extra admin charges to get the extortionate deposit returned. Not clear on booking and host would not return this despite pointing out how unclear the charges were.

This cottage is well appointed. Our stay was spoiled by attitude of host company who scammed us out of further money once the Airbnb fee was paid. On calling them they were unhelpful and not able to provide a reason for the extra fee. We paid a top rate already to Airbnb and were not informed there would be other hidden charges. There was no choice but to pay. Other renters be warned. We feel any extra charges should be clearly listed in Airbnb’s costs We feel this is sharp practice and unnecessary
